JavaScript - Working With Website Content Using Javascript
I'm sorry I don't have a website to go with my question...it's on a dev server. But it's fairly simple I think.
I have a php script running server side that I'm looping through (using different numbers at the end of the php page to get new content each iteration), and I want to grab the content of the php page to display, inside a google maps infowindow ideally. The problem is, right now the infowindow displays just the link. I want the content of what the link is (which is just a few words in any case). Here's the general code where I place the page inside a variable and then try to display the contents of the page in html variable (the link I show here won't work but it gives you the idea): Code: var hazard_links = "https://ch.noaa.gov/m/googleapi/rec/extracthazards.php?lat="+lat+"&lon="+lon; var html = '<span style="font-size: 10pt; color: red;"><hr><a href="'+hazard_links+'" target = "_blank">' + hazard_links + '</a>' + '<span style="font-size: 10pt; color: red;">'; Thanks for any help, Similar TutorialsHello, I am building a shopping cart website that is using a mega javascript dropdown menu. Everything was working fine until you get to the checkout page on the website. The checkout page has this accordian / spry deal where customers can checkout on one page. You can view it he http://gem-tech.com.mytempweb.com/store/pc/onepagecheckout.asp If I take the menu code out of the header.asp file, then the checkout page works just fine. But if I put the menu code back in, then the checkout page stops working. Here is the menu code (simplified it a bit for this thread): Quote: <head> <script src="Scripts/AC_RunActiveContent.js" type="text/javascript"></script> </head> Quote: <body><script type="text/javascript" src="http://ajax.googleapis.com/ajax/libs/jquery/1.3/jquery.min.js"></script> <script type="text/javascript" src="jquery.hoverIntent.minified.js"></script> <script type="text/javascript"> $(document).ready(function() { function megaHoverOver(){ $(this).find(".sub").stop().fadeTo('fast', 1).show(); //Calculate width of all ul's (function($) { jQuery.fn.calcSubWidth = function() { rowWidth = 0; //Calculate row $(this).find("ul").each(function() { rowWidth += $(this).width(); }); }; })(jQuery); if ( $(this).find(".row").length > 0 ) { //If row exists... var biggestRow = 0; //Calculate each row $(this).find(".row").each(function() { $(this).calcSubWidth(); //Find biggest row if(rowWidth > biggestRow) { biggestRow = rowWidth; } }); //Set width $(this).find(".sub").css({'width' :biggestRow}); $(this).find(".row:last").css({'margin':'0'}); } else { //If row does not exist... $(this).calcSubWidth(); //Set Width $(this).find(".sub").css({'width' : rowWidth}); } } function megaHoverOut(){ $(this).find(".sub").stop().fadeTo('fast', 0, function() { $(this).hide(); }); } var config = { sensitivity: 2, // number = sensitivity threshold (must be 1 or higher) interval: 100, // number = milliseconds for onMouseOver polling interval over: megaHoverOver, // function = onMouseOver callback (REQUIRED) timeout: 500, // number = milliseconds delay before onMouseOut out: megaHoverOut // function = onMouseOut callback (REQUIRED) }; $("ul#topnav li .sub").css({'opacity':'0'}); $("ul#topnav li").hoverIntent(config); }); </script> </body> And there are two things of script on the onepagecheckout.asp page as well. Here they a Quote: <script type="text/javascript"> $(document).ready(function() { $('#chkPayment').click(); }); </script> Quote: <script type="text/javascript"> var acc1 = new Spry.Widget.Accordion("acc1", { useFixedPanelHeights: false, enableAnimation: false }); var currentPanel = 0; <% if session("idCustomer")>"0" then session("OPCstep")=2 else session("OPCstep")=0 end if %> //* Find Current Panel <% if len(Session("CurrentPanel"))=0 AND pcv_strPayPanel="" then %> <% if session("idCustomer")>"0" then %> acc1.openPanel('opcLogin'); GoToAnchor('opcLoginAnchor'); $('#LoginOptions').hide(); $('#ShippingArea').hide(); $('#BillingArea').show(); <% else %> $('#LoginOptions').show(); $('#acc1').hide(); <% end if %> <% else %> <% If pcv_strPayPanel = "1" Then %> $(document).ready(function() { $('#LoginOptions').hide(); pcf_LoadPaymentPanel(); }); <% Else %> acc1.openPanel('opcLogin'); $('#LoginOptions').hide(); $('#ShippingArea').hide(); $('#BillingArea').show(); <% End If %> <% end if %> GoToAnchor('opcLoginAnchor'); function openme(pNumber) { acc1.openPanel(pNumber); } function toggle(pNumber) { var ele = acc1.getCurrentPanel(); var panelNumber = acc1.getPanelIndex(ele); if (panelNumber == pNumber) { acc1.closePanel(pNumber); } else { acc1.openPanel(pNumber); } } function togglediv(id) { var div = document.getElementById(id); if(div.style.display == 'block') div.style.display = 'none'; else div.style.display = 'block'; } function win(fileName) { myFloater=window.open('','myWindow','scrollbars=yes,status=no,width=300,height=250') myFloater.location.href=fileName; } </script> Any help would be GREATLY appreciated, Thank you I'm searching for a crossbrowser script to zoom in/out the full website content (not text only). Who can provide me a link to that kind of script?
how can refresh my website without interrupting of main content. suppose user reading a post in my website . during that i want to refresh my ads in my website without interrupting of main content. ex: go this link. http://www.novamov.com/video/xl58zuy4sd1a9 in this page site will automatically refreshes the ads every 1 minute without interrupting of main content. how can i do that in same manner. please help me. Hi Coders, I was wondering if anyone knows how you would create a link when clicked will change the width of the content. I have a feeling this will use jQuery? E.g. A link saying 'expand' will change the width of the body to 1000px and change the link to 'contract'. When the link 'contract' is clicked it will change the width back to 800px and change the link to 'expand' Thanks in advance! Haydn. I would like to mention: I DON'T KNOW MUCH (ANYTHING) ABOUT JAVASCRIPT I am using this script to reload my minicart every 1 second but it doesn't work in IE. I don't want to use php (because the e-commerce site I am using doesn't allow php). Code: <script type="text/javascript"> function cartRefresh() { $("#minicart").load(location.href+" #minicart>*",""); $("#sliderContent").load(location.href+" #sliderContent>*",""); } setInterval(function() { cartRefresh(); }, 1000); </script> Can anyone help me out with either a new code or make this workable with IE? thnx a bunch! I hope I have this post in the right place! Any help would be very much appreciated... I have a feature on my website that allows users to choose the website background (using alternate css sheets) and then uses an externally linked javascript file to store the background choice as a cookie so it is consistent throughout the website. This works perfectly locally (i.e. when previewing my website on my computer) but now it is uploaded to my host it doesn't appear to be working. (with the same browser) My javascript is he http://www. b r p - e n v .com/javascript/backgroundchange.js (with no spaces) The website that the javascript file is linked to is http://www. b r p - e n v .com (with no spaces) In the head I have: <script type="text/javascript" src="../javascript/backgroundchange.js"></script> ...then I have: <body onload="set_style_from_cookie()"> ...and for users to choose which background: <form> <input type="image" src="../images/white-background-thumb.jpg" onclick="switch_style('bg1');return false;" name="theme" value="White" id="bg1"> etc... </form> My problem is: The background reverts back to the default when moving to a different page. This would indicate that the background choice is not being saved in cookies. But this works locally! I have tried putting the javascript directly onto each page but I still had the same problem. I hope someone can help, I will be so grateful if I can get this to work. Many thanks indeed! Hi, I'm new to Javascript, so bear with me. So what Should I do? I think I need to define the javascript for the different browsers, so how can I do that? Hey all, I need help creating a Javascript loop which posts a single static comment to all videos on a website(unless another language would prove to be a better alternative?) I'm not sure where to start and although I have an idea, my lack of programming skills have left me to turn to forums...any help would be greatly appreciated. *not asking for coding necessarily. Links to relative information pertaining to such a program/"loop", and any comments helping me understand what I'm trying to do would be great...I'm just not sure what to search for lol. Im still learning, just need helping starting a project. Thanks. Hello all, My website has a search field at the index page. I want to test this search field for vulnerabilities by entering Javascript. When i enter <script>alert("test");</script> in the search field there comes a pop-up which says: "best" instead of "test". When I enter <script>alert("test123");</script> the pop-up says: "test" instead of "test123" The page source displays the following after I enter <script>alert("test");</script> in the search field. As you can see it changes my "test" input to "best" for some kind of reason. <a href="/searchresults.jsp?searchpage=1&freetext=%3Cscript%3Ealert%28%22best%22%29%3B%3C%2Fscript%3E& pagepart=objectname;description;shorturl&expressionset=&nodelocation=0000000000010000&ds mshowinsearch=true&dateformat=dd-MM-yyyy&creationdatestart=&creationdateend=&modificationdatestart=&modificationdateend= &publicationdatestart=&publicationdateend=&searchbase=0&searchrange=10&expans ion =" class="blauw bold italic"><script>alert(" best ");</script></a> <a href="/searchresults.jsp?searchpage=2&freetext=%3Cscript%3Evoert%28%22test%22%29%3B%3C%2Fscript%3E& pagepart=objectname;description;shorturl&expressionset=&nodelocation=0000000000010000&ds mshowinsearch=true&dateformat=dd-MM-yyyy&creationdatestart=&creationdateend=&modificationdatestart=&modificationdateend= &publicationdatestart=&publicationdateend=&searchbase=0&searchrange=10&expans ion =" class="blauw bold italic"><script>voert(" test ");</script></a> <a href="/searchresults.jsp?searchpage=3&freetext=%3Cscriptie%3Ealert%28%22test%22%29%3B%3C%2Fscriptie%3E& amp;pagepart=objectname;description;shorturl&expressionset=&nodelocation=0000000000010000&am p;dsmshowinsearch=true&dateformat=dd-MM-yyyy&creationdatestart=&creationdateend=&modificationdatestart=&modificationdateend= &publicationdatestart=&publicationdateend=&searchbase=0&searchrange=10&expans ion =" class="blauw bold italic"><scriptie>alert(" test ");</scriptie></a> </p> <p class="sorteer-aantal">Deze zoekvraag levert geen resultaten op</p> So in some way my website changes my input, but what is happening? and is it possible that somebody can abuse this searchfield? In fact I quite often agree with you - although not necessarly without qualification. Your expertise as a coder is plain to see. But you often see fit to express yourself in a disagreeable, quarrelsome, snide, supercilious, self-satisfied and generally unpleasant manner, so your comments do not generate the respect they might otherwise deserve. You seem to delight in going out of your way to create friction and antagonism. As I have said before, you are not liked, so you are not respected, and as you are not respected your postings and opinions are not seen as valuable. The reason why it might well be better to do something server-side is not, in my opinion, anything to do with Javascript-disabled browsers. It is simply which method is most efficient and secure. In this situation you are right to say that server-side is to be preferred. But Javascript is much more than "bells and whistles" and these days is completely essential, not optional, for web functionality. As VIP Stephan has pointed out, the OP said "I didn't write this script and I'm not a JavaScript expert, so I don't know how to edit it properly. I want to change it's function from sorting to filtering, i.e. something along the lines of a slice function. " So there is no point in whickering on about your preference for server-side scripting. You might as well suggest that the OP writes it in Klingon. Hey there, so this is my first time using this website. I was wondering if anyone can help me resolve this problem. It is for my Website Development Class and I am going use this forum to help me understand the languages haha. But Anyways. My homework assignment I have to do is: Create a Web page named gpa.html that can be used to compute your grade point average given grades and hours for courses completed. The page should repeatedly prompt the user for course information, reading the course name, grade received, and credit hours for a particular course in a single dialog box. While the user is done inputting the information, it should display on the website like this: COURSE GRADE HOURS THL100 B+ 3 PHL107 A 3 ENG120 C+ 3 MTH245 A 4 CSC221 A 3 Total grade points = 58 Number of hours = 16 GPA = 3.625 So my problem is that when I tried to display it outside the while loop it only displays "NaN". Please Help and Thanks! Here is my code: <!DOCTYPE html> <html> <!-- gpa.html--> <head> </head> <body> <script type= "text/javascript"> document.write("Course - Grade - Credit Hours"); document.write("<br>"); var third; var total = 0; var total2 = 0; var total4 = 0; var t_hrs = 0; var user; while (user != "") { user = prompt("Hello User. Enter course name, grade, & credit hours (i.e CS3240 B+ 3), or click OK with no data to terminate."); var uInput = user.split(" "); document.write(uInput); document.write("<br>"); third = uInput[2]; t_hrs = parseInt(t_hrs) + parseInt(uInput[2]); if (uInput[1] == "A"){ letter2point = 4.0; } else if (uInput[1] == "B+"){ letter2point = 3.5; } else if (uInput[1] == "B"){ letter2point = 3.0;} else if (uInput[1] == "C+"){ letter2point = 2.5; } else if (uInput[1] == "C"){ letter2point = 2.0; } else if (uInput[1] == "D"){ letter2point = 1.0; } else if (uInput[1] == "F"){ letter2point = 0.0; } total = letter2point * third; total2 = total2 + total; total4 = total2 / t_hrs; } document.write(total4) </script> </body> </html> Reply With Quote 01-29-2015, 02:47 AM #2 felgall View Profile View Forum Posts Visit Homepage Master Coder Join Date Sep 2005 Location Sydney, Australia Posts 6,745 Thanks 0 Thanked 666 Times in 655 Posts If that antiquated JavaScript is what your course is teaching then I feel sorry for you. Just about every statement that you have there is listed on one of the "Bad Bits" pages of my Introducing JavaScript web site where it gives the reasons for not using those 20 year old code constructs in modern web browsers (which means IE5 and any browser more recent than that). A couple of suggestions to get you started. 1. The second document.write is not complete so everything from there onward is broken. 2. To convert to a number use Number((t_hrs) or (+t_hrs). If you must use parseint then always include the second parameter to specify the number base you are converting from parseInt(t_hrs, 10) - with regard to t_hrs it is a number to start with so doesn't even need this conversion. 3. Use === and !== instead of == and != as the two character versions don't always give the expected result where the three character versions always do. I'm not quite sure what code I'm going to use for the search button, but I imagine that I can work on that sometime.. The premis of my page is to use 4 div tags. 1st div tag = company logo (top left) 2nd div tag = img of restaurant and address (top right). 3rd div tag = horizontal menu with text or buttons to call up menu items, for example: Lunch: Dinner: Beverages: Driving Directions, etc 4th div to display content pages. For example, if the user clicks the Lunch button, it would call the lunch page and place it into the 4th div tag. I am able to do this with frames in HTML or content pages in ASP.net, but how would I do it using CSS and div tags. The best response I got was with AJAX, but I am not familiar with this language yet. Can I use JavaScript to do this? Any suggestions? Thank you, Paul I have a div that changes background on click. Example: <script type="text/javascript"> function changeBackground(strURL) { document.getElementById('about').style.backgroundImage="url("+strURL+")"; } </script> <body> <div id="about"> <a href="#about" onClick="changeBackground('mainbackground.jpg');">text</a> <a href="#about" onClick="changeBackground('background2.jpg');">text</a> </div> This part works just fine so no issues. However, I have content on the mainbackground.jpg that is getting transferred over to the other backgrounds as well. I would like each background to have its own paragraph content. I do not want to embed the info into the images for SEO reasons. Any ideas on how to do this? Thanks! Hi, Im new to javascript. I want to add a similar function on my blog like on http://techcrunch.com/2011/08/04/gro...tartup-obtiva/ when you press on author. It is a drop down made with javascript. Anybody can help with a similar javascript as I was trying different implementations for the whole night with no luck. Maybe, anybody know a similar javascript online which I could modify? Thanks in advance! |
