The problem I am having is that I want to have several slideshows on my page. On it's own, a single slideshow works fine but when I add a second (and do my best to hack the code with my limited knowledge) only one slideshow will work, or sometimes neither. I found the article from this site that explained about event conflict, but the example used looked quite a bit different to mine. Here is the js file I started with Code: window.addEventListener?window.addEventListener('load',so_init,false):window.attachEvent('onload',so_init); var d=document, imgs = new Array(), zInterval = null, current=0, pause=false; function so_init() { if(!d.getElementById || !d.createElement)return; css = d.createElement('link'); css.setAttribute('href','slideshow2.css'); css.setAttribute('rel','stylesheet'); css.setAttribute('type','text/css'); d.getElementsByTagName('head')[0].appendChild(css); imgs = d.getElementById('rotator').getElementsByTagName('img'); for(i=1;i<imgs.length;i++) imgs[i].xOpacity = 0; imgs[0].style.display = 'block'; imgs[0].xOpacity = .99; setTimeout(so_xfade,3000); } function so_xfade() { cOpacity = imgs[current].xOpacity; nIndex = imgs[current+1]?current+1:0; nOpacity = imgs[nIndex].xOpacity; cOpacity-=.05; nOpacity+=.05; imgs[nIndex].style.display = 'block'; imgs[current].xOpacity = cOpacity; imgs[nIndex].xOpacity = nOpacity; setOpacity(imgs[current]); setOpacity(imgs[nIndex]); if(cOpacity<=0) { imgs[current].style.display = 'none'; current = nIndex; setTimeout(so_xfade,3000); } else { setTimeout(so_xfade,50); } function setOpacity(obj) { if(obj.xOpacity>.99) { obj.xOpacity = .99; return; } obj.style.opacity = obj.xOpacity; obj.style.MozOpacity = obj.xOpacity; obj.style.filter = 'alpha(opacity=' + (obj.xOpacity*100) + ')'; } } This uses a couple of CSS files and then you just add a div=rotator on the html to add the object and then the images and links within that div. If anyone can help, or perhaps give me a better solution, I'd be most grateful. Thanks I am pretty new to JavaScript, so I apologize if this is a stupid mistake. I am using this code, but trying to have several slideshows on the page. I have set up two to test it, and one works while the other just displays a static image. What is the best way to do this? Do I need to repeat the script code in the head? Thanks in advance for any help.
I am trying to run three continuous slideshows on the same page. The script I am currently using is written below. Can it be modified so I can run all three slides at once on the same page? <html> <head> <script type="text/javascript"> <!-- var image1=new Image() image1.src="firstcar.gif" var image2=new Image() image2.src="secondcar" var image3=new Image() image3.src="thirdcar.gif" //--> </script> </head> <body> <img src="firstcar.gif" name="slide" width="100" height="56" /> <script> <!-- //variable that will increment through the images var step=1 function slideit(){ //if browser does not support the image object, exit. if (!document.images) return document.images.slide.src=eval("image"+step+".src") if (step<3) step++ else step=1 //call function "slideit()" every 2.5 seconds setTimeout("slideit()",2500) } slideit() //--> </script> </body> </html> Im new to javascript and trying to make a form validator, ive succeeded but its left me confussed as to setting variables. my original code was Code: function applyform() { var name = document.getElementById('mainname'); var lvl = document.getElementById('mainlvl'); var class = document.getElementById('mainclass'); var role = document.getElementById('mainrole'); var reason = document.getElementById('reason'); var age = document.getElementById('age'); var mic = document.getElementById('microphone'); var voice = document.getElementById('voice'); if(notempty(name, "Please enter your main characters name")){ if(dropselect(lvl, "Please select your characters level")){ if(dropselect(class, "Please select your characters class")){ if(dropselect(role, "Please select your characters role")){ if(notempty(reason, "Please tell us why you wish to join us")){ if(notempty(age, "Please state your age")){ if(notempty(mic, "Please state if you have a microphone")){ if(notempty(voice, "Please state if you will use voice communication during events")){ return true; } } } } } } } } return false; } using this stoped all my javascript functions working but i cant see any fault with it. I've changed the code now to Code: function applyform() { if(notempty(document.getElementById('mainname'), "Please enter your main characters name")){ if(dropselect(document.getElementById('mainlvl'), "Please select your characters level")){ if(dropselect(document.getElementById('mainclass'), "Please select your characters class")){ if(dropselect(document.getElementById('mainrole'), "Please select your characters role")){ if(notempty(document.getElementById('reason'), "Please tell us why you wish to join us")){ if(notempty(document.getElementById('age'), "Please state your age")){ if(notempty(document.getElementById('microphone'), "Please state if you have a microphone")){ if(notempty(document.getElementById('voice'), "Please state if you will use voice communication during events")){ return true; } } } } } } } } return false; } this works fine but i don't get why my first bit of code didnt work and id really appreciate someone explaining it to me. thanks in advance Can anyone please tell me what im doing wrong? Thanks for any help! I have a problem with one simple script, which works in every browser, just not in IE6 and IE7. You can see the script at http://bbtalk.eu/iframe.html - when you click on the iframe, you should see "clicked at the bottom". But it doesnt work in IE6 and IE7. Do anyone know how to fix that? Thank you
Hi All, Im trying to add some content by JS (which ive done) but i cant click a link i have made; JS: Code: function game() { document.getElementById('title').innerHTML = '<p style="float: left; text-decoration: underline; font-weight: bold;">Deady Teddy</p><img src=css/images/popup/close.png style="float: right; cursor: hand;" href="javascript: hideModal("modalPage");"></img>'; } *Yes i know about the Href but if i put "onClick" it gives errors*; HTML: Code: <a href="javascript:void(0);" onClick="javascript: revealModal('modalPage'); game();">Deady Teddy </a> And place its adding it to: Code: <div id="modalPage"> <div class="modalBackground"></div> <div class="modalContainer"> <div class="modal"> <div class="modalTop" id="title" onselectstart='return false'> </div></div></div></div> Any Idea's? Trying to have my navigation have an on click and selected state, but I am not able to do so with this code (website is: http://bit.ly/rgwsite ) Code: $('nav li a').click(function() { $(this).parent().addClass('on').siblings().removeClass('on'); }); nav li is as follows Code: <nav> <li class="highlt"> <a href="index.php" class="home"><span>Home</span></a> </li> The reason we need to use a jquery/javascript action to add the class to the navigation is because it doesn't refresh when a new page loads. For instance, when you're on the home page and click on the tab "Experience RGW", it only loads the content for that page below the header (within the "#ajax" div). Currently, none of these scripts are working. There is no reason they shouldn't... could there be something else causing the page not to recognize the jquery script and run it on-click? The main reason I ask is because I've tried to test the function and add an alert, but even that didn't work function hasTagsInText(text) { if(text.indexOf("<TABLE") >=0 || text.indexOf("<table") >=0) return 'table'; ///this line of code doesnt work in firefox this is my code ______________________________________________________________ <pega:when test="$mode-input"> <script language="JavaScript"> function showNextButton() { handleClientEvent('SERVER','MakeScoreOrder','','-1'); /* fetches the data */ var submitClicked = "<p:r n='pyWorkPage.PFRSData.SubmitClicked' />"; var submitClicked = submitClicked.replace(/^\s\s*/, '').replace(/\s\s*$/, ''); var msg = "<p:r n='pyWorkPage.PFRSData.HasMessages' />"; var msg = msg.replace(/^\s\s*/, '').replace(/\s\s*$/, ''); if (submitClicked == "" || msg =="true") { toggleSubmitBtn(0); } else if (submitClicked == "true" || msg =="false") { toggleSubmitBtn(1); } } function toggleSubmitBtn(status) { var submitButton=document.actionForm.submitButton; if(submitButton) { var parentTable=pega.u.d.findParentTable(submitButton); if(parentTable) if(status) { if(parentTable.style.display=='none' || parentTable.style.display=='') { parentTable.style.display='inline'; document.actionForm.submitButton.disabled=false; } } else { parentTable.style.display='none'; document.actionForm.submitButton.disabled=true; } } } </script> <button onClick="showNextButton();" id="PISSubmit" style="vertical-align:middle;"> <span class='buttonLeft'></span> <span class='buttonMiddle'> <span class='buttonText' onmouseover="this.className='buttonTextHover'" onmouseout="this.className='buttonText'">Submit</span> </span> <span class='buttonRight'></span> </button> </pega:when> ___________________________________________________________ On clicking PISsubmit button it should fetch data and display the next button(submitButton).. but on first click nothing happens on second click it fetches the data and third click it displays Next(submitButton)button. Kindly help !! Note: its in pega application. when I upload a new javascript file to the server and refresh the webpage, the webpage behaves as if the old script is on the server, this happens with IE and firefox, even if I shut the programs down and restart them, can anyone help? First of all I'd like to take the time to thank anyone who can assist me with this dilemma..... On the page I am designing I have 2 js slideshows. The first one slides images right to left and the second contains the caption for the image and fades in and out. Here is an example of the exact concept of what I'm trying to do: http://designsensory.com/ The problem I'm having is that the slides will not maintain the same timing and I'm not sure how to create a single user control that controls both slideshows simultaneously. I would really appreciate if someone could help me solve the issue or at least point me in the right direction (tutorials possibly?). Here is the JS code: Code: <script type="text/javascript"> var firstreel=new reelslideshow({ wrapperid: "myreel", //ID of blank DIV on page to house Slideshow dimensions: [500, 300], //width/height of gallery in pixels. Should reflect dimensions of largest image imagearray: [ ["css/500_300/Dairy plant.jpg"], //["image_path", "optional_link", "optional_target"] ["css/500_300/slider-big.jpg", "http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cave", "_new"], ["css/500_300/Hospital image.jpg"], ["css/500_300/Picture2.jpg"] //<--no trailing comma after very last image element! ], displaymode: {type:'auto', pause:3500, cycles:0, pauseonmouseover:false}, orientation: "h", //Valid values: "h" or "v" persist: true, //remember last viewed slide and recall within same session? slideduration: 800 //transition duration (milliseconds) }) </script> <script type="text/javascript"> var mygallery=new fadeSlideShow({ wrapperid: "fadeshow1", //ID of blank DIV on page to house Slideshow dimensions: [280, 300], //width/height of gallery in pixels. My problem is, everytime I copy the code and place it in again, for some reason the slide goes to the next line and not next to the other slide. Here is my code for the current slide: <script type="text/javascript" src="/v/vspfiles/assets/images/stepcarousel.js"></script> <script type="text/javascript" src="/v/vspfiles/assets/images/stepcarousel.js"> </script> <style type="text/css"> .stepcarousel{ position: relative; /*leave this value alone*/ border: 1px solid GREY; overflow: scroll; /*leave this value alone*/ width: 313px; /*Width of Carousel Viewer itself*/ height: 262px; /*Height should enough to fit largest content's height*/ } .stepcarousel .belt{ position: absolute; /*leave this value alone*/ left: 0; top: 0; } .stepcarousel .panel{ float: left; /*leave this value alone*/ overflow: hidden; /*clip content that go outside dimensions of holding panel DIV*/ margin: 0px; /*margin around each panel*/ width: 313px; /*Width of each panel holding each content. If removed, widths should be individually defined on each content DIV then. */ } </style> <script type="text/javascript"> stepcarousel.setup({ galleryid: 'mygallery', //id of carousel DIV beltclass: 'belt', //class of inner "belt" DIV containing all the panel DIVs panelclass: 'panel', //class of panel DIVs each holding content autostep: {enable:true, moveby:1, pause:3000}, panelbehavior: {speed:500, wraparound:false, wrapbehavior:'slide', persist:true}, defaultbuttons: {enable: true, moveby: 1, leftnav: ['/v/vspfiles/assets/images/backward.jpg', 80, 215], rightnav: ['/v/vspfiles/assets/images/forward.jpg', -135, 215]}, statusvars: ['statusA', 'statusB', 'statusC'], //register 3 variables that contain current panel (start), current panel (last), and total panels contenttype: ['inline'] //content setting ['inline'] or ['ajax', 'path_to_external_file'] }) </script> <div id="mygallery" class="stepcarousel"> <div class="belt"> <div class="panel"> <img src="/v/vspfiles/assets/images/HOTDEALS.jpg" /> </div> <div class="panel"> <img src="/v/vspfiles/assets/images/POPULAR.jpg" /> </div> <div class="panel"> <img src="/v/vspfiles/assets/images/HOTDEALS.jpg" /> </div> <div class="panel"> <img src="/v/vspfiles/assets/images/POPULAR.jpg" /> </div> <div class="panel"> <img src="/v/vspfiles/assets/images/HOTDEALS.jpg" /> </div> </div> </div> Any help would be greatly appreciated, thank you I just created a slideshow that is working (finally). I want to put a description beside the photos that is styled in the way I want it, but I can't seem to figure this out. To save time learning all about Javascript, I purchased WoW Slider and Apycom Menus, two programs that do it all for you. Independantly both programs work perfectly, however if I use both programs together on the same website, as soon as I add my image slider it messes up my menu for that page. the menu item colours and bouncy effects when I do a mouseover on menu items no longer work correctly. Example http://www.dorset-self-catering.com note the menu working correctly on mouseover, then go to second page called "Information", this page also has a slideshow and if you now do a mouseover on the menu, you will see that all the nice properties no longer work. Is anyone able to offer some advice please. David Priest Random Image Slideshow (I want two!?) Hi I have use the code from he http://www.javascriptkit.com/script/...domslide.shtml (which works well for me) Can anyone tell me how I can get a second other random image to display on the page beside the first? I cant work it out. It seems I cant run the script twice? Here's my page: http://www.bookmarkpeople.com/chillax2.htm Any help much appreciated? A bear of simple brain. Jules. hello, I posted a threat a couple of days ago, but i got no answer. I guess it was just too messy. So i'm trying over again. You might therefore have a little deja vu, but still, any help will be greatly appreciated. I need this function to work on all my div, separately, on loading. here is the function: Code: <script> // Random Position Script var xxx = Math.floor(Math.random()* (pageWidth()-230)); var yyy = Math.floor(Math.random()* (pageHeight()-50)); function start() {var x = (posLeft()+xxx) + 'px'; var y = (posTop()+yyy) + 'px'; moveObjTo('myobj',x,y); setObjVis('myobj','visible');} window.onload = start; window.onscroll = start;// JavaScript Document </script> At the moment, the function is working on one object ('myObj'). I laced all my documents into separate divs and i need them all (and seperatly) to load on a random position at start. So i need to write in something that makes this function keep on going for all my objects. It might seem like a very dumb question, but 'm just starting with javascript, so not much of a coder yet. Hope you can help o this one. nice day to everybody! |
