But when I submit the form with data from a javascript the mail is empty. Can anyone help? I am just a beginner.... You can try the form here Thanks in advance! Hein. Validator (My CSE HTML Validator v9.0 ) reports javascript errors but program runs. There seems to be a problem with commands used twice and a missing semi-colon. Also there are problems with Firefox. Unable to reselect another image. OK with IE8. I would appreciate it if someone with better eyesight than me could give the jscript a once over for me. Thanks oin advance. Frank Culprit is here. EDITED. Hi, I've been looking for a client-side form validation script which will check each field before submitting the form. Can anyone point me to a good one that looks professional. I want it to make a nice presentation of any errors as well, perhaps, as showing a 'tick' sign when the field is correctly filled in . bazz I want to use Javascript to submit a form - without filling the form in physically Is this possible? Let's say a web page has a form that submit First Name and Last Name to the next page Instead of filling in the form and hitting submit, can I submit the data in variables and call the next page somehow using Javascript? Thanks OM Hello, Im pretty new at JavaScript still, and I am trying to add cookies to a page of my website, so that what is entered into form fields, is retained for future visits. Below is my code, and I am scratching my head as to why it is not working for me! I have viewed a few different cookie tutorials, and so far trying to shape them around what I am seeking, is leading me to my broken code. Javascript: Code: var today = new Date(); var expiry = new Date(today.getTime() + 100 * 24 * 3600 * 1000); function setCookie(name, value) { document.cookie=name + "=" + escape(value) + "; path=/; expires=" + expiry.toGMTString(); } function storeValues(form) { setCookie("name", contact.name.value); setCookie("email", contact.email.value); setCookie("phone", contact.phone.value); return true; } if(name = getCookie("name")) document.contact.name.value = name; if(email = getCookie("email")) document.contact.email.value = email; if(phone =getCookie("phone")) document.contact.phone.value = phone; HTML for the Form Code:

Name*

E-mail Address*

Phone Number*

Prefered Type of Contact?*
E-mail
Phone

Reason For Contact?
Show Information
Group Information
Collaboration
Misc

What Are You Contacting About?*

ResetSubmit

If anyone has some tips to point me in the right direction, and let me see the error of my ways (pun totally intended) I would appreciate it. Hello Friends In my jsp,Struts project i am using the javascript calendar control for selecting the date and by using function calcage() i am calculating the age of the user but problem occurs when the page refreshes OR when user updated the other values such as name ,contact no. Then the value of the age is set as 0 in the textfield as 0 So can you please tell me why this problem occurs And please give me solution Thanks Hello! I have started using php/html/javascript just recently so I'm not too familiar with it yet, however I think I've done alright. I have apache installed so I can mess around with my files and perfect stuff, so I've created a form that a user fills out, pushes a button, and it prints the information in an organized fashion. It works perfectly for the most part, and I have a validator script that ensures all of the fields work correctly. All of that works great, however I recently uploaded all of the files to a hosted server and the validator stopped picking up for some reason. Anyone have any idea why on localhost a form validator script would work but hosted it wouldn't? Any insight would be great. I've added the two scripts below: Form (php) code:http://pastebin.com/J83AX6GG Validator (JS) code: http://pastebin.com/LMuLu3Jp Thank you for your time! Hello! I'm doing an assignment that validates a password field, the password field should only contain numbers, however this code only verifies the first number input in the field, which means i need to check through every singel input in the field, so i got a little problem I've been thinking about a for loop should fix the problem, but im new to javascript, some help would be appreciated! I've literally tried everything. Read 26 tutorials, interchanged code, etc. My validation functions all work. My AJAX functions work (tested manually using servlet URL's). The second servlet validates the reCaptcha form that's generated on my webpage. After the form is validated, even if everything's correct, nothing happens upon clicking submit. I even have an alert pop up if with the captcha result, just for middle-layer debugging purposes. I want to do all of my validation clientside; none serverside. However, going to be tough if I can't get my god damn form to submit. I've been puzzled by this for close to 36 hours straight. I can't see, and I'm going to get some rest and hope that there is some useful insight on my problem when I return. html form: Code:

*First name

*Last name

*Email address

*Phone number

*City/Town

Alabama Alaska Arizona Arkansas California Colorado Connecticut Delaware Florida Georgia Hawaii Idaho Illinois Indiana Iowa Kansas Kentucky Louisiana Maine Maryland Massachusetts Michigan Minnesota Mississippi Missouri Montana Nebraska Nevada New Hampshire New Jersey New Mexico New York North Carolina North Dakota Ohio Oklahoma Oregon Pennsylvania Rhode Island South Carolina South Dakota Tennessee Texas Utah Vermont Virginia Washington West Virginia Wisconsin Wyoming

*Anti-Spam Verification

*Affiliation

*Research Area:

*Research Overview

You have characters remaining.

*Talk Availability

In person Online Both

Links

Javascript file: Code: /* * script.js - ajax and table functions */ var xmlHttp; Here is the exact error from the error console: Quote: Error: jQuery.validator is undefined Source File: https://www.gem-tech.com/store/pc/onepagecheckout.asp Line: 288 And here is the exact script: Quote: I believe there is some sort of conflict? Not sure though. Any input on this? Thanks, Hello all. I am trying to track down why this custom validator is failing with an error that args is undefined. There are two funnctions - one works and one does not. Here they a the bold italicized item is where the error is being generated. Function validHygieneNote works as expected however. Code: function validClothingNote(val, args) { var radio_choice = false; var chks = document.getElementById('clothingNote'); var chks2 = document.getElementsByName('clothingInadequate'); for (counter=0; counter < chks2.length; counter++) { if (chks2[counter].checked){ var rad_val =chks2[counter].value; }} if((rad_val==1)|| (rad_val==2)) { if ((chks.value=="") || (chks.value.length==0) || (chks.value==null)){ args.IsValid=false; } else { args.IsValid = true; } }} function validHygieneNote(val, args) { var radio_choice = false; var chks = document.getElementById('hygieneNote'); var chks2 = document.getElementsByName('hygieneInadequate'); for (counter=0; counter < chks2.length; counter++) { if (chks2[counter].checked){ var rad_val =chks2[counter].value; }} if((rad_val==1)|| (rad_val==2)) { if ((chks.value=="") || (chks.value.length==0) || (chks.value==null)){ args.IsValid=false; } else { args.IsValid = true; } }} used in this page seems to object to option.length Frank. I have the following script in the head; Code: and the following form in the body; Code:

Name:

Your Email:

Phone Number:
(Optional)
Message:

It is a aspx file and validates fine as XHTML Trans. Why won't it work? Hi, basically it's a simple postcode validator. It checks to see whether the postcode is in UK format, then tells you if it isn't with an alert box, then I want it to clear the field. The input field's ID is postcode. Code: function testPostCode () { var myPostCode = document.getElementById('postcode').value; if (checkPostCode (myPostCode)) { document.getElementById('postcode').value = checkPostCode (myPostCode) } else {alert ("Please enter your Postcode correctly, this includes:\n \n * Correct Spacing - AA1 1AA \n * Correct amount of letters and numbers. \n \n Sorry if this causes any inconvenience, but it is to your benefit.")}; document.postcode.value=""; } Anyone able to help me? Hi There, I really need your help. I am aware that there is no isDate() function for javascript, however, how could one check a date against a validator to ensure that the date entered is either returned true or false the date format that I would like to check would consist of the dd/mm/yyyy so essentially: isDate("12/01/2012") would return as true isDate("N/A") = would return as false I have searched high and low and am counting on the experts on this forum for some major help. A huge thanks in advance and I really appreciate everything. Cheers, Jay |
