I want the button to disable upon correct submission of the form, and the button to be kept enabled if the required fields are not filled in. I have the following code at the moment (which only does the first if statement). Code: SCRIPT CODE: <script type="text/javascript" > function validateForm() { var amount=document.forms["expenserecord"]["amount"].value; var picker=document.forms["expenserecord"]["picker"].value; var desc=document.forms["expenserecord"]["description"].value; if (amount==null || amount=="" || picker==null || picker=="" || desc==null || desc=="") { alert("All required fields must be filled out."); document.getElementById("sub").disabled = false; return false; } else { document.getElementByID("sub").disabled = true; } } </script> BUTTON CODE: <p><input type="submit" value="Submit" onClick="return validateForm()" id="sub"></p> Hi all, I'm designing something to addon to an existing product. I'm struggling with some javascript problems. I want to submit a hidden field when you click on an image button, rather than it being an actual submit button. It's going to submit the value "1" to a PHP page, but I don't want it to actually have to GO to the PHP page, just submit it within the webpage. Is this possible? Thanks i am dynamically making pdf files, works great using abcpdf etc etc. the only problem that i am having is with the page breaking. i want to create a function that runs onload and can read the position of elements and add breaks before the element if it is cut off. each block ("from the west", "holiday inn express") is a span with the class name of "entry" i want to loop through those, get their height, add them together and if that span falls in the range of the page size (792px) add a page break before it. the difficult part will be when we get to pages 2 and above does that make sense? im throwing around some ideas now in a js file, if you have any please post them thanks I want to implement a javascript function where a submit button will be submitted from the parent page each time I close a child page. Please let me know what I did wrong in my code and please elaborate your answer so that I could understand it better. Thank you so much for your help. I have the following jscript code but it is now working. Code: window.onunload = submitParent; function submitParent() { var doc = window.opener.document, theForm = doc.getElementById("finalForm"); theField = doc.getElementById("finalSelected"); theForm.submit(); theField.trigger('click'); } My form from the parent page is as follow. I want my jscript to just click on the submit button once. Code: <form id = "finalForm "name= "finalForm" method="POST" action=""> <input type="Submit" id = "finalSelected" name="finalSelected"/> I have placed the <script></script> in the <head></head> tags and the page will not work. But placing the <script> below the element that the JS works with allows the page to work but thought the correct method to use was place all JS functions inside the <head> tags? here is a link to the folder I am testing this out on. http://www.realistichostings.com/test_booking/ I have named the two files accordingly, test_booking_page-script is in head tags.php test_booking_page-script is outside head tags.php can anyone tell me why the code works outside the head tag but not when i is inside the head tag ? I am running into a problem, that no one else in the world seems to have. When I make a form and submit the page is refreshed, or rather redirected to a state with the values filled after the ? (i.e. http://localhost/comp-267/lab15.html -> http://localhost/comp-267/lab15.html?cardNUm=). I have found solutions that have worked for other people, none of them work for me. I have tested my forms on multiple browsers on multiple systems and the problem persists. Here is one example of my code where this happens. Code: <script type="text/javascript"> function checkCC(myForm) { var ccType; var ccLength; var ccNum = myForm.cardNum.value; if (myForm.cardType.selectedIndex == 0) { ccType = "Visa"; } else if (myForm.cardType.selectedIndex == 1) { ccType = "MasterCard" } else if (myForm.cardType.selectedIndex == 2) { ccType = "AmericanExpress" } switch(ccType) { case "Visa": valid = /^4[0-9]{12}(?:[0-9]{3})?$/; if (valid.test(myForm.cardNum.value)) { alert("This is a Valid Visa Card"); return true; } else { alert("This Card Number is Invalid For Visa"); return false; } break; case "MasterCard": valid = /^5[1-5][0-9]{14}$/; if (valid.test(myForm.cardNum.value)) { alert("This is a Valid MasterCard Card"); } else { alert("This Card Number is Invalid For MasterCard"); } break; case "AmericanExpress": valid = /^3[47][0-9]{13}$/; if (!valid.test(myForm.cardNum.value)) { alert("This is a Valid American Express Card"); return true; } else { alert("This Card Number is Invalid For American Express"); return false; } break; default: valid = /^$/; alert("Card type not found"); return false; } } </script> </head> <body> <h1>Credit Card Validator</h1> <form name="creditCard" onsubmit="return checkCC(this)"> <span class="labels">Card Type:</span> <select name="cardType" size="3"> <option name="visa">Visa</option> <option name="mc">Master Card</option> <option name="amex">American Express</option> </select> <br /> <span class="labels">Card Number:</span> <input name="cardNUm" type="text" size=30 value="" /> <br /> <br /> <input type="submit" value="Death to All" style="background-color:#666666 !important; border:thick groove !important; border-color:#333333 !important" onclick="javascript:return checkCC(this.form)" /> </form> </body> </html> you can find the page he Form Example How do I get this to not happen? I've tried almost every fix I could find that worked for other people none have worked for me. Hi, I am not able to submit the page details in IE 6 since am getting Javascript error: "unknown name" while submitting the page. If i press submit button for second time getting javascript error "Permission Denied". I tried to submit the details in IE 7 aswell the same error occurs. But i tried to submit the page in FireFox, its worked great... submitted without any error and the details saved in the database. I dont understand why the details are not submitted through IE6. Please assist on this. rgds, Ganny. Hi, I have a jsp which has a function gets called during the page unload. This jsp has a form with an action attribute to one servlet. Please find below the code snippet. ---- Java script code --- function logoff() { document.forms["FormName"].rel="nofollow" target="_self"; alert('Submitting the form'); document.forms["FormName"].submit(); } --- HTML form code ----- <body onUnload='logOff()'> <form name ="FormName" method="POST" action='<%=sLogoutResponseURL %>'> Whenever the page gets unloaded always logoff function is getting called. I also get the alert message "Submitting the form". But my servrlet does not get invoked. My application supports logging in with the same user id more than once. Scenario it works: User logs in. Close the application. logoff function is called and servlet gets invoked. Scenario it does not work: User logs in one window. Open one more IE window and and open the application with same user id. this can be repeated. Now when i close the application logoff function is called for all of the window close. But servlet does not gets invoked all the time. Sometimes it stops calling servlet. I have searched over the net and found one solution. Below piece of code will make sure form gets always submitted. -------------------------Start ----------------- function fakeSubmit(event) { var target = event ? event.target : this; /* Fire a submit event */ var fakeEvent = $(target).fire("form:submit"); if (fakeEvent.stopped == false) { /* Call the real submit function */ this._submit(); } } if(window.HTMLElement){ /* DOM-compliant Browsers */ HTMLFormElement.prototype._submit = HTMLFormElement.prototype.submit; HTMLFormElement.prototype.submit = fakeSubmit; } else { /* IE does not expose it's HTMLElement object or its children Let the document load so all forms are accounted for */ document.observe("dom:loaded", function(){ for(var i = 0; i < document.forms.length; i ){ document.forms[i]._submit = document.forms[i].submit; document.forms[i].submit = fakeSubmit; } }); } -----------End ------------------ But this resulted in script error while loading the page "object does not support this method or property" at line where document.observe is there. Kindly help at the earliest. Thanks in advance Santosh I want to use Javascript to submit a form - without filling the form in physically Is this possible? Let's say a web page has a form that submit First Name and Last Name to the next page Instead of filling in the form and hitting submit, can I submit the data in variables and call the next page somehow using Javascript? Thanks OM I have a small form that I'm working on for a client. They want a form that their potential leads can fill out and then hit 'calculate rate'. Once this is done, the results should display on another page with a short summary of what their quote will be as well as some of the other information they filled out. It should also send an email to my client displaying the information that their lead just filled out. My only problem is I am not sure how to go about the calculation part. I know I would have to do an onSubmit, but how would I hide that calculation and then receive that number on another page. Here is the javascript for that form: Code: /* This source is shared under the terms of LGPL 3 www.gnu.org/licenses/lgpl.html You are free to use the code in Commercial or non-commercial projects */ //Set up an associative array //The keys represent the size of the cake //The values represent the cost of the cake i.e A 10" cake cost's $35 var practice_field = new Array(); I just want it to calculate after the user has filled out the form completely and display that calculation on another page along with the rest of the information they inputted. he everyone please i want to know how to submit a form using ajax every 5 minutes without reloading page i have a huge form for exams and i need to submit the form without the need to wait until pressing submit because the user may wait to think about the answer a very long time.. so i want to submit the form and at the same time i cant reload the page as it is in normal submit form.. so how i can submit form in the background without letting the user knows that the form is submitted??? Hi. Please help. I have a credit card donation page and what I wanted to do is after they click the submit button and transaction is successfult I wanted to capture the donation amount they enter from the donation page and show it to the next page. On my site's shopping cart, when clicking the "buy" button, it merely animates a little item that shows that something is now in the customer's cart. I'd like it to do this, and then redirect to "/cart", cutting down the work of what the user actually has to do (we only have one product). Here's what I'm working with: <!-- START ADD TO CART --> {% if featuredproduct.available %} <span class="featured-product price"><span>{{ featuredproduct.price | money }}</span>{% if featuredproduct.compare_at_price_max > featuredproduct.price %} <del>{{ featuredproduct.compare_at_price | money }}</del>{% endif %}</span> <input type="submit" value="{{ settings.text_addtocart }}" class=" add-to-cart addtocart button primary"> {% else %} <h3 class="featured-product price sold-out"><span>Sold Out</span></h3> <input type="submit" value="{{ settings.text_addtocart }}" class="featured-product add-to-cart button primary disabled" disabled="disabled "> {% endif %} <!-- END ADD TO CART --> Adding an "onclick="location.href='/cart';" after the input classes does not fire the actual act of adding the item to the cart, so it shows an empty cart on the redirect. I was asked to make a simple "enter the word in the box" quiz and I can't get the output! it's driving me crazy and I get "ur score is [object HTMLInputElement]out of 3" at the bottom when I had it say, "Your score is:".. here is my html coding and no, I'm not asking for anyone to do my homework.
