JavaScript - How Do I Make Page Go Dark And Unusable Until User Has Exited Textbox?
On various video sites you can click cinema mode and the page goes dark, whilst you watch the video.
On my page I have a box which appears, where the user enters their name and email address. But I would like the box to remain active and in view. While the rest of the page goes darker and unusable, Like on the video player websites How do I do this? Similar TutorialsI have a text input field that was created with JS on a screen. The input is padded with a 0 for the first character to work with the server. I was wondering if there is any way to make that 0 invisible so the user doesn't get confused?
I have a form where users will be making a selection in a drop down box. I need, essentially, to store two values: the first value is the actual value assigned with each drop down item (their label, basically), and the second value being a completely separate value that will change based on what they chose from the drop down box to begin with. Example: Drop down box contains selections A, B, C, D. User selects A, I need to keep the original dropdown box's A value in tact for the dropdown box's value, and then store a 1 in a hidden textbox. User selects B, a 2 is stored, etc. Both of these values will be e-mailed, hence the reason I chose a hidden textbox to store the second value. Additionally, I don't want the user to see the second value on the form itself. If there's a better way to accomplish this, please let me know. Hey guys, I have a colour picker on my site, see it at http://www.ludatha.com Now I want to change the colour of the links on the page, don't worry I know how to do all this. It's just if someone chooses full black (#000000) the theme looks awesome, but the links on the dark background are invisible. Similarly if someone chooses full white (#ffffff) then you can't see the text on the white background. So I want to know if you geniuses can make it so when a variable containing a hex, like #000000 is set as the main colour, then the link colour is changed to #666666 so you can still see it, but I want it to work with colours, so if you had #360000 (dark red) then the link colour would be something like #a10000. I know this is possible, somehow... I hope I have explained it well enough for you to understand, here is my code to change the background: Code: onChange: function (hsb, hex, rgb) { $('.colour-picker-colour').css('backgroundColor', '#' + hex); $('.background').css('backgroundColor', '#' + hex); $('.colour').css('backgroundColor', '#' + hex); $('.colour-text').css('color', '#' + hex); $('a .colour-text').css('color', '#' + hex); $('.colour-text-hover:hover').css('color', '#' + hex); $('.tabs a:hover').css('color', '#' + hex); $('.seperator').css('backgroundColor', '#' + hex); $.cookie('ludatha_colour', hex, { expires: 365 }); } P.S. My site may not look right for a few hours as the images and CSS is updating. So with the below form if the value of any of the select list changes the user is alerted something like "You are about to make 2 changes". How can I do this? Code: <script> function validate(){ } </script> <form method="POST" onsubmit="return validate()" action="--WEBBOT-SELF--"> <select size="1" name="fruits[]"> <option value="apple">apple</option> <option value="pear">pear</option> <option value="orange">orange</option> </select> <select size="1" name="cars[]"> <option value="ford">ford</option> <option value="gm">gm</option> <option value="toyota">toyota</option> </select> <input type="submit" value="Submit" name="B1"></p> </form> Ok, so if you navigate ovr to my website "http://www.mancunianmacca.co.cc" you will notice that a box pops up asking for your name. When you type it in it adds it to the page. Is there a way I can get this to remember the users input and only ask them once then remember. Like cookie or anything. If you need any extra things. Just ask.
I've got this form on my page that contains a search box and a select box full of employee names. When you type a few letters in the search box it scrolls through the listbox to the first match and then if you click on that name it executes a function. Today though one of my coworkers pointed out that some people would just hit enter inside the search box and he's right about that. So I looked around and found the solution for it, it's the onkeydown event I added to the search box. Weird thing is though when you type a name in the box and hit enter it executes properly and then the page immediately reloads Without the onkeybown event, hitting Enter still makes the page reload so it's gotta be something about the form. Can anyone pick out the bug? Thanks. <form name="people_form" style="margin: 0px"> <input type="text" id="peoplesearch" name="peoplesearch" onkeydown="if (event.keyCode == 13) search_onblur()" onblur="search_onblur()" onkeyup="suggestName();" onfocus="this.value=''" style="margin: 0px 0px 5px 0px; padding: 0px; width: 215px"></input> <select onchange="display.apply(this, this.value.split(','))" size="15" id="People" name="People" style="border-style: none; height:244px; width:220px; margin-bottom: 15px;"> <option>Loading</option> </select> </form> hi there, i wish there could be solution to this as I cannot figure how to do it. I would like to have an autocopy and paste data from a page to a textbox...Like if a webpage has the details like receive from: and receive to:, can this text be autocopied to a textbox on a click of a button? the text box is place on another webpage, so there are basically two webpages, 1st page is where the data to be copied is contained while the 2nd webpage is where the textbox is contained. the data to be copied on the 1st page are the contents of received from: and recieved to: like receive from:edward receive to:jacob. So with a click of a button I would like the contents receive from:edward receive to:jacob be copied and pasted on the text box from another page... I hope this sounds clear enough...sorry to be a pain... regards, verve Ok so im new to javascript and I have a button in an interface for an app. It's like drag and drop and i want this button to link you to a certain website searching for what the user types in the searchField1 box. I have form and i want to input data using barcode and it will display on textbox and after input on the first textbox the focus will go to next textbox untill it will go on the last textbox and on the last textbox it will automatically save the data's on the database. How is it possible? here is my sample code: Code: <?php error_reporting(0); date_default_timezone_set("Asia/Singapore"); //set the time zone $con = mysql_connect('localhost', 'root',''); if (!$con) { echo 'failed'; die(); } mysql_select_db("mes", $con); ?> <html> <head> <script type="text/javascript"> function ini() { // Retrieve the code var code =document.getElementById ("code_read_box1").value; var code =document.getElementById ("code_read_box2").value; var code =document.getElementById ("code_read_box3").value; var code =document.getElementById ("code_read_box4").value; var code =document.getElementById ("code_read_box5").value; var code =document.getElementById ("code_read_box6").value; // Return false to prevent the form to submit return false; } </script> </head> <body onLoad="document.barcode.code_read_box1.focus()"> <form name=barcode onsubmit = "return ini()"> <input type="text" id="code_read_box1" value="" /><br/> <input type="text" id="code_read_box2" value="" /><br/> <input type="text" id="code_read_box3" value="" /><br/> <input type="text" id="code_read_box4" value="" /><br/> <input type="text" id="code_read_box5" value="" /><br/> <input type="text" id="code_read_box6" value="" /><br/> </form> </body> </html> Hello. I've been teaching myself HTML and CSS for a while, and now I've moved into the world of Javascript (but I'm still very much a beginner). For practice, I've been building a sample sign up form for a mock website, and I'm having problems with the birthdate section. The idea I had was to have MM, DD, and YYYY be the default values of my 3 textboxes (as an example for users), then set the value to nothing when the box gained focus. That all works fine, but I ran into problems when I tried to write an if statement to set the value back to MM, DD, or YYYY if the value was still nothing when the user clicked away. As it is now it just replaces the text inputted into the textbox (which of course is not good). Any ideas for what the problem might be? Code: <form name="signup" action="javascript:void(0);" method="post"> <table> <tr> <td>Date Of Birth:</td> <td> <input name="DOBmonth" type="text" value="MM" size="2" style="color: #555555;" onFocus="clearDOBmonth()" onBlur="restoreDOBmonth()" /> <input name="DOBday" type="text" value="DD" size="2" style="color: #555555;" onFocus="clearDOBday()" /> <input name="DOByear" type="text" value="YYYY" size="4" style="color: #555555;" onFocus="clearDOByear()" /></td> </tr> <tr> <td></td> <td><button name="Submit" type="submit" style="font-size: 1em;">Sign Up</button></td> </tr> </table> </form> <script type="text/javascript" language="javascript"> <!-- document.signup.DOBmonth.value="MM"; document.signup.DOBday.value="DD"; document.signup.DOByear.value="YYYY"; function clearDOBmonth() { document.signup.DOBmonth.value="";} function clearDOBday() { document.signup.DOBday.value="";} function clearDOByear() { document.signup.DOByear.value="";} function restoreDOBmonth() { if ('document.signup.DOBmonth.value = ""') { document.signup.DOBmonth.value = "MM"; // alert(document.signup.DOBmonth.value); } } //--> </script> Another side question, if I set a variable equal to the value of a textbox, then change the value of the variable, does that also change the value of the textbox? or is the variable no longer associated with the textbox. Example: Code: var a = document.form.textbox.value; a = blue; does document.form.textbox.value = blue? or is var a now completely independent of the textbox value? Thanks! On this website... http://livedemo00.template-help.com/...21/index.html# When you click on the Navigation Bar the website pages load inside that page? How exactly would i go around doing this? Thankyou Hi, Can anyone please tell me that " how to write a JavaScript function to pop up an alert() if a user scrolls down the webpage faster than a certain speed" Looking forward for a urgent reply Thanks Hey, Is there a method to check if a user refreshed a page? I'm designing an online psychological experiment and I want to see if the user refreshed a page (to see if he was trying to see an image that he was supposed to see only once). Thanks, Ok, im stuck. Ive tryed about 10 solutions from Google. None are working. Ok, I made a site in Flash, and a second site in HTML. I want to automatically redirect people from my flash site (indexhigh.html) to my html site (indexlow.html) if they can't see my flash movie. Here's the flash page URL: http://testnewsite.netau.net/indexhigh.html . Restrictions: This redirect MUST be done using javascript or without having me to download another swfobject file. Please paste completed code. Heres my current code: Code: <html xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml" xml:lang="en" lang="en"> <head> <meta http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html; charset=iso-8859-1" /> <title>Website</title> <script language="javascript">AC_FL_RunContent = 0;</script> <script src="AC_RunActiveContent.js" language="javascript"></script> </head> <body bgcolor="#ffffff"> <!--url's used in the movie--> <!--text used in the movie--> <!-- saved from url=(0013)about:internet --> <script language="javascript"> if (AC_FL_RunContent == 0) { alert("This page requires AC_RunActiveContent.js."); } else { AC_FL_RunContent( 'codebase', 'http://download.macromedia.com/pub/shockwave/cabs/flash/swflash.cab#version=9,0,0,0', 'width', '940', 'height', '940', 'src', 'Website', 'quality', 'high', 'pluginspage', 'http://www.macromedia.com/go/getflashplayer', 'align', 'middle', 'play', 'true', 'loop', 'true', 'scale', 'showall', 'wmode', 'window', 'devicefont', 'false', 'id', 'Website', 'bgcolor', '#ffffff', 'name', 'Website', 'menu', 'true', 'allowFullScreen', 'false', 'allowScriptAccess','sameDomain', 'movie', 'Website', 'salign', '' ); //end AC code } </script> <noscript> <object classid="clsid:d27cdb6e-ae6d-11cf-96b8-444553540000" codebase="http://download.macromedia.com/pub/shockwave/cabs/flash/swflash.cab#version=9,0,0,0" width="940" height="940" id="Website" align="middle"> <param name="allowScriptAccess" value="sameDomain" /> <param name="allowFullScreen" value="false" /> <param name="movie" value="Website.swf" /><param name="quality" value="high" /><param name="bgcolor" value="#ffffff" /> <embed src="Website.swf" quality="high" bgcolor="#ffffff" width="940" height="940" name="Website" align="middle" allowScriptAccess="sameDomain" allowFullScreen="false" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" pluginspage="http://www.macromedia.com/go/getflashplayer" /> </object> </noscript> <table width="889" border="2" cellspacing="0" cellpadding="0"> <tr> <td width="91" bgcolor="#FFFFFF">Site created by:</td> <td width="232"><a href="http://www.christoff.tk"><img src="my_Logo.png" width="197" height="169"></a></td> <td width="242"><a href="http://www.fcw.comoj.com"><img src="logo3.JPG" width="205" height="62"><br> Free Charity Websites </a></td> <td width="112">And by the</td> <td width="198"><p><img src="untitled.png" width="77" height="86"><br> Fort Myers High School <br> Web Design 2 Students from<br> 1st Period<br> Team leader: Chris Christoff </p></td> </tr> </table> </body> </html> Chris our requirement is client wants to know howmany users leaving the main page without entering data in the application page.at that time we need to show the css popup overlay. in the following scenarios overlay should pop up. 1)when user leaves the page.(e.g. type other address in the address bar).bascially user shy away from the browser. 2)clicks browser close button. we will show one css popup overlay(not browser popup) and in the back ground main application will be greyed out.this overlay consists of some text fields and some buttons will be there and parallely in the back ground we will execute AJAX call. can we accomplish this requirement??is yes how?will it work in all browsers? my concern is how to prevent the browser from closing(e.g.when user chooses browser X button) when css overlay comes up. I wish to make a dropdown box appear when a user leaves a particular page. I have the code for the drop down and it works well. It fires when a function is called: function = initboxv2(); return false; How do I call it when the user attempts to leave the page? So that it goes direct to the dropdown (I've tried onbeforeunload and I get a dialog alert which I do not want.) Thanks Hi there guys! My group is working on a basic document management system that includes four users. staff member, department director, division chief and clerk. The programming language that we used is PHP. when staff member logs-in on his homepage and uploads a file he must choose reviewer from a dropdown menu that consists of dep. director and div. chief. When he clicks the upload button the homepage of who he chose as reviewer should receive a prompt/alert box upon log-in saying "you have a document to review". For example: if he chose division chief as the reviewer when the person logs-in on his homepage a prompt/alert should display that he has something to review. The code for uploading file is already up and working. We are looking for advice on how to integrate javascript in this system. Especially in the prompt part. thanks for your ideas. I'm working in iWeb (I had to say that first). I need to create (using JAVASCRIPT) a text box with a button. When the button is clicked, the contents of the box are added to the URL (the url is in the code, probably a variable, for this example it is mydomain.wordpress.com/) and the url produced loads. For example, if the text "Hello" was printed in the text box once the button is clicked the page mydomain.wordpress.com/Hello is loaded.
How could I open a page/popup after closing one? The objective is to log the user out if they haven't Logged out or clicked Logout. I am sure there is a simple way to do this. None of my ideas work. The only answer I could come with (after testing the whole day...) IE(any version), Firefox, and other browsers don't support this idea, due to the fact that the user clicked close and you can't impose things on them. I want to use javasript to create a new html page named from a text field in a form. Then I want to use javasript to copy all of the form fields to the new html page that was created using javascripting. I am creating a user are using a Javascript password login. With most of them the page is the user name or password. So this is why I am looking to do this. I use web 1000 a free host and they will only let me use javascripting. Any info or help would be great thank you
