JavaScript - Javascript To Search One Page For A File Path To Put On Another.
I'm working on a site built through Squarespace, and I've run into some limitations. They've told me it's possible to build a Javascript to pull specific images from one page's journal entries and place them (with links to the entry) on other pages.
Can somebody send me in the right direction on how I would do this? Basically I want to find a most recent posting tagged with a specific category, find the file file path of it's related image, and make that appear on the page that my javascript is on. Similar Tutorialsis there some way to searching through multiple path or recursively searching through a path (folders and subfolders) using the code below which seems to search only one node in the tree? Many Thanks. there are basically subfolders in \documents and then subfolders therein. i would like to search it therein for all kinds of files/filenames based on "search criteria". one more thing - is it ok/advisable to use active x objects considering most modern browsers have it disabled or give warnings? Code: <script> var Fo =new ActiveXObject("Scripting.FileSystemObject"); var StrOut = new String(); var FileName = new String(); var Extention = new String(); function FindFile(FOo) { var FSo = new Enumerator(FOo.Files); for(i=0;!FSo.atEnd();FSo.moveNext()) { if(FileName == "*" || FSo.item().name.slice(0,FSo.item().name.lastIndexOf(".")).toLowerCase().indexOf(FileName)>-1) if(Extention == "*" || FSo.item().name.slice(FSo.item().name.lastIndexOf(".")+1).toLowerCase().indexOf(Extention)>-1){ StrOut += "<tr "+ ((i%2)? "":"bgcolor=#C4E3F2") +"><td width=50%><font class=find>" + FSo.item().name + "</font></td><td width=25%><font class=find>" + FSo.item().type + "</font></td><td width=50%><font class=find>"+ String(FSo.item().size/(1024*1024)).slice(0,3) +" MB</font></td></tr>"; i++ } } } function Search() { FileName = (search.value.lastIndexOf(".")>-1)? search.value.slice(0,search.value.lastIndexOf(".")):(search.value.length>0)? search.value.toLowerCase():"*"; //Get Searched File Name Extention = (search.value.lastIndexOf(".")>-1)? search.value.slice(search.value.lastIndexOf(".")+1).toLowerCase():"*"; // Get Searched File Extention Name if(path.value.length>0 && Fo.FolderExists(path.value)){ StrOut = "<table border=0 width=100% cellspacing=0>" FindFile(Fo.GetFolder(path.value)); outPut.innerHTML = StrOut+"</table>"; } else alert("Insert Correct Path Address"); } </script> Code: <BODY topmargin="0" leftmargin="0"> <table border=0 width=100% cellspacing="0" style="border-collapse: collapse" cellpadding="2"><tr> <td dir="ltr" bgcolor="#FFD9D9"><b><font face="Verdana" size="2">Filename : </font></b> </td> <td dir="ltr" bgcolor="#C4E3F2"> <input size=50 type=text id=search name=search class="Find"></td> </tr><tr> <td dir="ltr" bgcolor="#C4E3F2"> <p dir="ltr"></td> <td bgcolor="#FFD9D9"><input size=50 type=hidden value="\Documents" id=path name=path class="Find" > <input type=button value="Search" onClick=Search() class="Find"></td> </tr><tr> <td colspan=2 align=left bgcolor="#FFFFFF"><font face=Verdana size=2><b>Search Result</b></font><hr></td> </tr><tr> <td colspan=2 bgcolor="#FFFFFF"><div id=outPut></div></td> </tr></table> </BODY> </HTML> Hi all, I have an .xsl file that reads an xml file and populates an html file and that is working well. I want to have many xml files (one per project) and one .xsl and html file. The goal would be to get the user to browse for the particular xml file they want to use and have the html file reference the path and file name. There will be a main page where the user will browse for the xml file in question. When they hit submit, the information (document path) is passed to the html file and the html file opens with information from the xml page they selected .In my html file I have the following: Code: xml.load(''12345.xml'') Basically I would like to somehow browse to the xml file in question and pass that variable (file path and name) to the html file and replace "1234.xml" with the path and name selected by the browse section. Does this make sense? Thanks. Reply With Quote 01-22-2015, 11:04 PM #2 Old Pedant View Profile View Forum Posts Supreme Master coder! For example, just have a PHP page the includes the desired ".xml" file into a page that is already setup with the XSLT. I vaguely recall reading that there is a way to "apply" XSLT to a dynamic set of XML, but the function named apply() in XSLT doesn't do anything like this. Still, the easiest way to control this would be via the server side code. Heck, that would even allow you to string together "pieces" of XML from various files to create the final document. Hay guys, here is my problem. I need to make Javascript code which will enable me to search my page for key words. The particular page consists of nearly 30 scinetific achivements, all sorted by the scinetists that are responisbile for those acihevemnets. You can say that the page consists of 30 paragraphs. What i should do, is make a javasrpit code that searches the page by putting in a key word, finding all the paragraphs with that keyword, and then displaying only those paragraphs, while hiding all the other ones which don't have that key word.Im not really sure if this should happen in a pop up window, on the same page or new page, but the overall format must be the same as it was on the original page with 30 paragraphs( like displeying the same page but with only, for example, 3-4 paragraphs). I dont expect anyone to write me the whole code, but any hint or advise would be helpfull. Also if anyone knows of any code here on this forum, or somewhere on the web which might help me, I'd apprecite if u would give me the link. Hi, I have a page with an iframe in it. I need my script to search the contents of the iframe for a specified string, and click the link within it. Here is my coding. Code: <script> setTimeout(function() { window.location.reload(); }, 2000); // 2 seconds, e.g. $(document).ready(function() { $('a[href*="13468100"]', $("game").contents()).closest('tr').find('.fightActionInnerInner').parent("a").trigger("click"); }); </script> </head> <body> <iframe src="http://vl.storm8.com/hitlist.php" width="100%" height="800px" id="game"></iframe> In the post below is the content of the iframe. At the moment the script doesn't want to click the link, it just refreshes the page. Can anyone advise? Hello, I don't know if this can be done in Javascript, or requires any other language but i was wondering if this would be possible. I would like to embed this Javascript code in to a PHP file and then for it to run automatically upon the PHP file loading: Code: <td class="smallDesc"> <a name="fb_share" type="button_count" href="http://www.facebook.com/sharer.php">Share</a><script src="http://static.ak.fbcdn.net/connect.php/js/FB.Share" type="text/javascript"></script> </td> The Javascirpt is the Facebook Share button that basically allows users that have Facebook to share the page there currently on in their Facebook status by pressing the button, but if there not logged in it shows the login page, not a problem just continue the script. The current button i which is what i want to load automatically in the PHP file is located here, to test the functionalilty just click "Share" button in blue.. http://watch-movies-online.anyfilman...-Movie-17.html To summarise, i would like the above Javascript code to execute automatically upon pageload of this PHP file.. http://www.watch-movies-online.anyfi...p://google.com. If that could be done, and if this also is possible.. i would like for the "Share" button on the external page that is loaded from the Javascript code above to be clicked automatically so in effect when ever someone visits the PHP page after clicking "Click Here to Watch/Stream 2012 Online For Free" on this page it will automatically load the Facebook Share box, and automatically click the "Share" Button and then close the page if possible, but not required. Please feel free to ask any questions, i'll be happy to answer. Thanks in advance. Best Regards, Jonathan. I have a question is it bad or what are the disadvantages of doing what I am going to explain. I want to put the same javascript file two time in the same page e-g Code: <script type="text/javascript" src="http://www.mydomain.com/javascript.js"></script> <script type="text/javascript" src="http://www.mydomain.com/javascript.js"></script> Now many people will ask why would I want to do that, well the reason is that I am using blogger and blogger doesn't let me see all code from which the page is made rather split it into two parts named as POSTS and EDIT HTML. So I am going to place this script in those both areas but at the end when the page loads it is actually going to two the same script two times which is not error. Another question would be why am I not using same script in one place rather than two places if at the end the page code is going to become one. Well the answer would be because that script is used by other scripts too so I CAN'T CHANGE THE LOCATION if I do so, then the script stops working. Hi all, I have been searching for a long time to obtain the UNC path of a file using the FileUpload control using javascript.. Is there any way to obtain it. Can anyone please guide me to the answer. Thank you, Aswin Is this possible? Let me clarify: I need a way for a html page or something similar be able to determine what it's full path is. It must self-determine this. Can javascript help me with this? Any recommendations of what route I should take to figure this out? Thanks! Hi gents, I am trying to figure out, how to play a video file saved on the server, displayed as a hyperlink from the file manager created in JavaScript? Many thanks for help. ZizaX. Fairly new the javascript, as in only been tinkering around for about a day. So forgive me if this is a simple question. At the moment I have the following function for handling events such as onclick, mouseover, mouseout. Code: function switcher(action, img){ switch(action){ case "hover": //mouse is on image document.imgSeat.src = "images/hover.gif"; break; case "click": //mouse has clicked image document.imgSeat.src = "images/click.gif"; break; default: //mouse elsewhere document.imgSeat.src = "images/defaulter.gif"; break; } } And the html the function refers to Code: <body> <div id="imagesholder"> <a href="#nerf"><img border="0" id="seat0" src="images/available.gif"></a> </div> </body> What im trying to do change my function so that instead of it being hard coded for the id "imgSeat" i can use the id passed through the parameter "img" instead. However I seem to be banging my head against the wall. I've tried using the following Code: document.getElementById(img).src = "images/available.gif"; //no error, just does nothing //where img is "0" instead of "seat0" document.seat[img].src = "images/available.gif"; //error: document.seat is undefined Would be extremely greatful if someone should push me in the right direction or show me what im doing wrong. All -- I have a JavaScript config file called gameSetting.js which contains a bunch of variables which configures a particular game. I also have a shared JavaScript library which uses the variables in gameSetting.js, which I include like so: <script type="text/javascript" src="gameSetting.js" ></script> <script type="text/javascript" src="gameLibrary.js" ></script> In gameSetting.js I have: $(document).ready(function() { // call some functions / classes in gameLibrary.js } in Firefox, Safari, and Chrome, this works fine. However, in IE, when it's parsing gameSetting.js, it complains that the functions that live in gameLibrary.js aren't defined. When it gets to parsing gameLibrary.js, the variables in gameSetting.js are reported as not being defined. I've tried dynamically bootstrapping the gameLibrary file using this function in document.ready for dynamic load... $.getScript("gameLibrary.js"); However, the same problem still happens in IE, where when it parses the files individually it's not taking into context the file/variables that came before, so it's not an out of load order problem. My options a 1) collapsing all the functions in gameLibrary.js and variables in gameSetting.js into one file. However, this is not practical because this is dealing with literally hundreds of games, and having a gameLibrary.js in ONE location for ONE update is what makes most logical sense. 2) figure out a way to get this to work where variables in file1 are accessible to file2 in IE (as it seems they are in other browsers). jQuery seems to be able to have multiple plugins that all refer to the based jQuery-1.3.2.js, so I know there is a way to get this to work. Help appreciated. Nero I'm pretty much lost at javascript, and unfortunately can use php to accomplish this, so here goes........ I have existing html page that includes a Week #. ie, 1, 2, 3, 5.... and so on. I'd like to be able to have a text, csv, or similar file that I can update on frequent basis that will list a Week # and than custom field of some type. (likely a date or unix time stamp). Is there a way to open a text file (or csv, etc) in javascript. Than be able to compare and get the correct data? Off the top of my head, I think its possible, and would involve something like the following? 1. Create a csv file like below 1, this is custom, my other custom 2, some more, and this too 3, and somthing, see spot run 2. Next would be have a javascript open and read the file. You would assign a variable name to each 1st, 2nd and 3rd item of each line. Than the script would loop through each line until it found a a match of Variable 1 to the Week your looking for. You could then parse out and use the other variables from that line. Any of that make sense? I hope to try and experiment some later today or tonight if I can, but javascript is still pretty foreign to me. Hi, I am creating a Search functionality program, which searches a file mentioned by the user on a folder present in a Network folder through File Scripting Object. The code works fine but the problem is that, when it searches the file on the Network folder the entire HTML page gets hanged and nothing is displayed till the code has finished searching. I want to update the user with the status of the search process as which folder is it currently searching just the way we have it in the Windows Serach functionality, where the progress is shown on the left side of the window and the files found is shown on the right. I have tried the solution with having two different frames where the first frame will have the HTML and the JavaScript code to search the file and it will also write the results in notepad file as soon as it gets a matching file name and then proceeds ahead. The other Frame will read that notepad file and display the data and it will also refresh itself in every 2 seconds. But the page still hangs up since the first frame is not responding. I have tried the same solution by having two separate HTML pages instead of two frames but no luck. The new HTML page and the previous page both hangs up. Any Ideas?? I have around 100,000 html files that I need to do a search/replace on. I currently have the word "Manchester" in all of these files which needs replacing with the full file path location; C:\Demo_Folder\Manchester_file_001.html C:\Demo_Folder\Manchester_file_002.html Your help would really help me sort out my mind blowing task I've been given. Thanx in advance SuperZ I can get this code to take two separate sections of a file which are not beside each other and write them into another file. It always comes up as a single full line of the code instead of the sections I want. The code includes the student number first name last name and three results of assignments. I got the html file to show but none of the text in the file will show.
Hi All, Just a quick question! Is it possible to have a text box input searching for the entered text on another webpage in the same way Find In Page would do? I have a webpage that I want users to input an item, and that this will open the targeted webpage and bring you to (and highlight) the matched item(s) like find in page does. Is this possible or is the easiest way to just make users open the link to the target page and just complete the find in page search there? Thanks Glen |
