JavaScript - Need Some Help With Making Images Pop Up
Hi all,
I have a client who wants a gallery of images to pop up on her enter page similar to this site, http://bit.ly/mUscmo . It won't be identical, but she likes the way the images all pop up and then just stay there. I know how to function JavaScript, but I don't know how to write it from scratch. Is there any where I could find a code that does something similar to this? Or, does anyone know the basic coding that I'd need for this? Thanks! Q Similar TutorialsI have an image gallery with about 10 images. Its a very simple image gallery, basically you have "A" "B" "C" "D" etc, and for each letter you click on, JavaScript changes the relative image from hidden to block. The problem I have is that all of the 10 images load in the background, despite the user not clicking on the corresponding letter, which wastes a ton of bandwidth. I have isolated and placed the image gallery code into a HTML file and included 3 pics so you can see it working: http://www.maxsurl.com/link.php?ref=rk925Lzd48 I don't know much about JavaScript, but I hope this code I just made up gives you can idea of what I am trying to achieve: Code: <SCRIPT type="text/javascript"> function pic1() { load.pic('src="pic1.png"') } function pic2() { load.pic('src="pic2.png"') } function pic3() { load.pic('src="pic3.png"') } </SCRIPT> <SPAN onclick="return pic1()">PIC 1</SPAN> <SPAN onclick="return pic2()">PIC 2</SPAN> <SPAN onclick="return pic2()">PIC 3</SPAN> <IMG id="pic"> Does anyone have a suggestion on how I could achieve what I would like to do? If so, could you please show me a basic example of code so I can make sense of it (I am a visual learner). Hey everyone! I'm in the process of creating a portfolio site for my artwork and I'm requesting help. The website has a scalable JQuery background which changes depending on which thumbnail you click. I've uploaded the progress he http://www.aldousmassie.com/newprogress I'm using this code at the moment to scroll through the background: Code: <!-- SCRIPT FOR CHANGING BG ON CLICK --> <script type="text/javascript"> imgs=Array("img/00.jpg","img/01.jpg","img/02.jpg","img/03.jpg"); var x=0; function change() { document.getElementById("bgimg").src=imgs[++x]; if (x==3) { x=-1; } } if (!imgs[x+1]) { x=-1; } </script> <!-- SCRIPT BELOW OVERWRITES SCRIPT ABOVE --> <script type="text/javascript"> imgs=Array("img/08.jpg","img/09.jpg","img/10.jpg","img/11.jpg","img/12.jpg","img/13.jpg"); var x=0; function change() { document.getElementById("bgimg").src=imgs[++x]; if (x==5) { x=-1; } } if (!imgs[x+1]) { x=-1; } </script> Unfortunately, the bottom code overwrites the top. Is it possible for each different background image to have their own "set" of images that could be scrolled through onclick? I'd appreciate any tips that point me in the right direction. Thank you. Hi there, I've been searching for an answer to this for the last few days but with no luck, so I thought I'd register here to see if anyone can possibly help. All I've been able to find everywhere for this is examples of changing images when rolling over them or clicking them, and I don't need that. What I need is a bit of javascript that will recognise some image paths on a page and replace those image paths with other ones. It's for an ecommerce website on a certain platform, using a customer reviews section which outputs star images based on the customer's rating. So, the images used (which look awful) are, for example, "sourcehere/stars_5.gif", "sourcehere//stars_4.gif", and so on. Just 5 of them. I want to design my own 5 images, upload those images, and then have the javascript replace the rubbish looking ones on the page with my own images. I thought I'd be able to find something quite easily, but so far all I can find is examples of mouseover events and so on, and I don't need any of that, just the entire image replaced with my own image. Can anyone help please? I'm a beginner with javascript so I'll need it spelled out to me! Thankyou for your time. Okay so to be short, I'm trying to make a script similar to a link checker but instead of having to input each link in one by one and click a button (A button saying Validate, for instance), I was looking for something that would do it automatically? Example - 1. First I input the link http://www.example.com/posts.php?do=1000000000 and click Start or Validate. 2. After clicking Start or Validate, the validator or script would begin checking links, modifying the http://www.example.com/posts.php?do=1000000000 to http://www.example.com/posts.php?do=1000000001 and so on and so on, until it reached all 9's. 3. After the scanning, every existent link (Meaning links that didn't give the 404, or re-direct to another page) would be displayed in the page below or a log file. I really appreciate the help everyone, since I'm still into learning about Javascript. Thanks in advance! Please help have a look at the scripts... Where's gone wrong that whenever an image fades out into 0, it reappears before another image comes out? I've wanted to make the image disappear shortly before a new image is loaded. I've worked on this and played around with the scripts, yet no finding... Please do tell me if you know the answer to it. Thanks. I mainly need it for myself because I don't always have access to the net. I was wondering if anyone would like to contribute? Right now I am using the following method to show/hide divs containing videos. html Code: <div class="vidPop" id="vidPop"> <div class="vidFrame" id="vidFrame"> <iframe id="Iframe1" src="http://player.vimeo.com/video/xxxxxxx1" width="640" height="360" frameborder="0"></iframe> <div class="vidClose"><a href="#" onclick="vidPopdown()"><img src="images/closeban.png" width="52" height="52" alt="close" /></a></div> </div> </div> <div class="vidPop2" id="vidPop2"> <div class="vidFrame2" id="vidFrame2"> <iframe id="Iframe2" src="http://player.vimeo.com/video/xxxxxxx2" width="640" height="360" frameborder="0"></iframe> <div class="vidClose"><a href="#" onclick="vidPopdown2()"><img src="images/closeban.png" width="52" height="52" alt="close" /></a></div> </div> </div> js Code: function vidPopup() { var o = document.getElementById('vidPop'); o.style.visibility = 'visible'; o = document.getElementById('vidFrame'); o.style.visibility = 'visible'; } function vidPopdown() { var o = document.getElementById('vidPop'); o.style.visibility = 'hidden'; o = document.getElementById('vidFrame'); o.style.visibility = 'hidden'; document.getElementById('Iframe1').src = document.getElementById('Iframe1').src } function vidPopup2() { var o = document.getElementById('vidPop2'); o.style.visibility = 'visible'; o = document.getElementById('vidFrame2'); o.style.visibility = 'visible'; } function vidPopdown2() { var o = document.getElementById('vidPop2'); o.style.visibility = 'hidden'; o = document.getElementById('vidFrame2'); o.style.visibility = 'hidden'; document.getElementById('Iframe2').src = document.getElementById('Iframe2').src } all of this works just fine, but now I am adding yet another video, and I know that this isn't the best way to go about doing this. I ought to be able to use 1 function and tell it which iframe to load, however I dont really know javascript. Any and all help on this would be greatly appreciated. Hello, I'm un-sure on what I should have called this topic so sorry for the possibly mis-leading topic name. Firstly, my menu bar is attached to the top of the clients screen as seen here. Secondly, I've been wondering how could I make it so when a button is pressed another div around 40px in height would appear above it(that div is also attached to the clients screen). For example I saw http://9gag.com/, when you click on search button in the top right hand corner the search bar appears ontop of the menu bar. My JavaScript knowledge is very limited, I know how to make a div appear with the click of a button, but how can I make it be attached to the top of the clients browser and the menu bar in under it? I'm decent at JavaScript but I have no idea how I should go about making a calculator. So far I'll drop a bunch of buttons down that all onclick to a function (a,b) and then it will add or w/e then return. How would I incorporate multiple methods such as subtraction or multiplication though? Basically I'm confident I the ability to code or learn to make this calculator, just have no idea how to set this up, thanks. I'm wondering if there's simple code for clicking on a thumbnail to have a larger version of the picture appear above, but still within, the same webpage, and the background darkens a little. The larger picture has a "close" button, which you click to get back to the underlying original page. An very simple example of the type I'm looking for is he http://www.salon.com/comics/tomo/200...omo/index.html I'm assuming this is a java script that does this. I'm using DreamWeaver. I have an assignment for a class that I am not sure how to approach. A string, a noun, is input and the program is supposed to make it plural based on the ending. If it ends in a double consonant then I add one ending, if it ends in a vowel I add a different one and then if it ends in two vowels or two consonants I add a third, different ending. I am supposed to do this using string methods. For the project the vowels are A, C, L, and S. I have to read the data in using the string tokenizer. I am not sure how to approach making the loops I need to use to make the words plural. Can anyone help?? EDIT: I have to use if statements to do this. OK Once again not out to spam . I am confused on this assignment? this is what i need to do The Sieve of Eratosthenes An integer is a prime number if it is evenly divisible by only itself and 1. There are several ways to find all prime numbers within a given range of integers, and the Sieve of Eratosthenes is an algorithm for to do just that. It operates as follows: Create an array with all elements initialized to 1 (true). Array elements with prime subscripts will remain as 1. All other array elements will eventually be set to zero. Starting with array subscript 2 (subscript 1 must be prime), every time an array element is found whose value is 1, loop through the remainder of the array and set to zero every element whose subscript is a multiple of the subscript for the element with value 1. For array subscript 2, all elements beyond 2 in the array that are multiples of 2 will be set to zero (subscripts 4, 6, 8, 10, etc.); for array subscript 3, all elements beyond 3 in the array that are multiples of 3 will be set to zero (subscripts 6, 9, 12, 15, etc.); and so on. When this process is complete, the array elements that are still set to 1 indicate that the subscript is a prime number. These subscripts can then be printed. Write a script that uses an array of 1000 elements to determine and print the prime numbers between 1 and 999. Ignore element 0 of the array. Ok for anyone who may understand, what am i supposed to create as output? Am i supposed to get a one big chart of numbers? or do i get a forever flow of numbers? suggestions please I am not really looking for code, just want some idea of what am i supposed to make as output? thanks Hello, To start I want to say I'm a newbie at coding/programming and all that so I would appreciate a lot if the explanations would be more thorough. I have a wordpress website (so i guess it can run javascript) and I want to create these tables where certain rows could be clicked and would expand for more information, I made an image for an illustration http://i44.tinypic.com/hurdoz.png . I would so appreciate any help that could tell simple steps how to achieve this, I guess this is a trivial problem to some of you but to me.. i don't know where to begin so yeah, I'm waiting for anything :] Hello, I'm trying to make sure that my email field contains at least 5 characters and the @ symbol. I've been trying to do this using an if...else loop, but so far I've only been running into brick walls. I think my problem is I don't know what to use when it comes to document.form1.email.value This is the latest script I tried: Code: <html> <head> <title>Form Example</title> <script language="JavaScript" type="text/javascript"> function validate() { if (document.form1.yourname.value.length < 1) { alert("Please enter your full name."); return false; } if (document.form1.address.value.length < 3) { alert("Please enter your address."); return false; } if (document.form1.phone.value.length < 3) { alert("Please enter your phone number."); return false; } if (document.form1.email.value.length < 5) alert("Please enter at least 5 characters."); else if (document.form1.email.value.match(@)) alert("Please enter an @ symbol."); return false; return true; } </script> </head> <body> <h1>Form Example</h1> <p>Enter the following information. When you press the Submit button, the data you entered will be validated, then sent by email.</p> <form name="form1" action="mailto:user@host.com" enctype="text/plain" method="POST" onSubmit="return validate();"> <p><b>Name:</b> <input type="TEXT" size="20" name="yourname"> </p> <p><b>Address:</b> <input type="TEXT" size="30" name="address"> </p> <p><b>Phone: </b> <input type="TEXT" size="15" name="phone"> </p> <p><b>Email Address: </b> <input type="TEXT" size="30" name="email"> </p> <p><input type="SUBMIT" value="Submit"></p> </form> </body> </html> I need to set javascript so that if the time is: Less than 11. More than 11.15 but less than 12.50. More than 13.45 but less than 15.30. it will redirect the user to a choosen URL. Here is my general idea: Code: var d = new Date(); var hours = d.getHours(); var minutes = d.getMinutes(); if (hours > ect............) { alert("Alert Here") window.location = "URL HERE"; } So can anyone help me here I would REALLY appreciate it thanks So simply put. You are redirected away from the page UNLESS it is 11.00 -> 11.15 OR 12.55 -> 13.45 OR past 15.30 I want a URL parameter, like http://www.thatswhyimbroke.com/#tab-1 to be added when a link is clicked. So for example, when I click one of the menu tabs on http://www.thatswhyimbroke.com/, I want a #tab-1 to be added at the end of the URL. If you look now, clicking a new tab adds nothing to the URL because it's pre-loaded. Please let me know if you need more explanation, I'm not sure i'm explaining it correctly. Thanks for any help! Hi! I need to make my own web page with quiz on it! Something like this http://www.javascriptkit.com/script/popquiz.htm The main problem - how to calculate scores? I need to make, for example, pop up box that shows, how many answers are right/wrong. What should I use for that? Hi all, I'll get it out their early, I am somewhat of a javascript novice. Here is the code I am working with: Code: <script type="application/javascript"> $(document).ready(function() { var numitems = $("#foo6 > li").length; var secondstartpoint = numitems -3; }); </script> <script type="text/javascript" language="javascript"> $(function() { $("#foo6").carouFredSel({ width : 136, height: 822, scroll : { items:1 }, items : { visible: 6, start: secondstartpoint }, easing:"swing", auto : false, prev : "#next3", next : "#prev4", direction:"down", align:"left" }); }); </script> As you can probably see I am trying to set the start point of a jquery carousel to equal a variable that I have created. You can see I have tried " start: secondstartpoint", but this isn't working. I think possibly because the way the plugin is formatted so that the "start" option can only equal a number. Can anyone shed some light on this issue and perhaps even suggest a solution? Thanks in advance guys Dan |
