JavaScript - Grabbing Text From Webpage To Display On Another Page.

Hi! First post here!

Would really appreciate some help on a javascript that would display the time elapsed since a particular visitor last visited my webpage, using cookies.

So basically it should show something like: "You last visited my page 2 days & 12 mins ago!"

I've a little background in java but none in javascript...

Hi. Can someone tell me if it is possible to display the duration a webpage is accesssed. For example, if its a form webpage, then the time to be displayed will be = time the webpage was left (press submit button etc. or the time the viewer left the page) - time the webpage was first accessed or loaded.

If it is possible with javascript, what are the methods, attributes etc that need to be used.

Hello. It is Friday. I thought this will be a simple question, but it seen like hard to find a fast and simple solution. I am working on an online sign in tool. Two browser windows are open at the same time. One is for people to sign in with password and submit their information; another one is for Administrator to see who sign in. I am trying to refresh the Administrator page whenever user finished sign in and submitted their information. These two pages cannot be parent and child page. I am Aditya. I am explaining below the exact scenario where I need the help:

I am developing a web application in which I need to integrate a javascript/html editor on some of the web pages and then provide 'Edit' buttons on those web pages so that users can edit the content on that partciular html/jsp page (like editing in wiki pages) and then, when they add some content and click on submit button, the new content should appear on the web page with all the formatting (i.e. bold, italics, color and so on) which was applied by user when he was entering the text.
Now, I need help for the below issues:
1. Please suggest me a good javascript/html editor (freely downloadable) which I can use to integrate with my web pages.
2. Once the user has entered some content using the above javascript editor, how to make that content reach the server and update the corresponding web page.

I am new to web development, so may be that these questions are too simple.
But, I need some help from you.

Hi there!
I am using GlassBox "http://www.glassbox-js.com/" As a light box on a website. Basically, You click an thumbnail image, and a window pops up with a larger version of that image.

Now originally, the window opened X number of pixels from the top of the page. However, My thumbnail images were located mid page, so when you clicked on one, the window would open at the top of the page and the user would not see it unless they scrolled up.

So I attempted to modify the script so that it would get the users page width/height and display it directly in the center no matter the position.

Now my problem is that the script only works when the user has already scrolled down. So if the page is scrolled all the way to the top, and you click on a thumbnail, the window will not open center screen.

When the page loads, DO NOT scroll it, and click on the image. You will see the window pop up, and not centered, like it should be. However, now if you scroll down, and click the image again, you see that it is now centered. I also noticed that when the page is scrolled up, and the image does not center, it always is placed below the thumbnail image, or otherwise where ever the DIV is located. It normally located under the image, but if i place the DIV at the top of the page then the window will pop up there.
And this does happen on every browser that I have tested, Firefox, IE, and Chrome.

So, I am pretty much stumped as to why this is happening. If anyone can shed some light I would be very grateful.

what it does is that it hide and show a panel by slidint it to the left.

But my client want that on page load the panel opens automatically for about 2-3 seconds just to let users know that its here. So ive written this :

Thanks for reading. I'm having an issue trying to accomplish the following -

I have a text field (field1) already displayed on the HTML page. However, there's a link where you can add additional text fields to the page as well. When the link is clicked, the second text field is added successfully (field2), and when the link is clicked again, the third text field (field3) is added successfully. However, the third field does not add itself to the page, and the text for anything greater than a third field also isn't displayed after.

This obviously means that my "fields" variable is not working right, so I'm wondering, would anyone be able to assist me to help me get that variable processing correctly?

In a php upload Form when a User chooses an image file to upload,
the name of the file appears next to the Choose File button (see attachment)
is it possible to grab that file name, add it to the page, and proceed with completing the Form?

ok well here's what i want to do

i have a bbcode for download links on my forum

when this bbcode is parsed, it will display a link under the download link BUT only for the first 3 links

so basically i would need a javascript with a counter, that will display some text if the counter is > 3 and then add +1 to the counter

normally i would EASILY do this with php, but i can't (bbcodes are parsed not parsed by server on phpbb, and you can't use php code in bbcodes)

And since i'm a total newbie with javascript, i need to come here and ask this stupid question :/

Hey guys, Im trying to figure out how to display a string of text beneath the drop down when a specific option is selected.

for example:
if you select 'Colors' just plain text would appear the drop down and show the list of colors 'red, blue, green, yellow'
or if you select 'Fruit' the plain text shows the list of fruit "orange, banana, apple, lemon'

Any ideas or can you guys point me in the right direction?

I have a similar code except its when you type in a number in a textarea it would output the coressponding data.

Alright, so I'll be honest, I HAVE NO IDEA ABOUT JAVASCRIPT! So, basically, I want, when the button is clicked, for this to grab some levels from a game and do some calculations. Simple. Well... Not for me. Here is the code I have right now:

Could someone help me to get this working? The calcCombat calculates things bases on the levels it grabs and produces an array of results, calcResult[0] and [1] being the two results I want right now. An example output will hopefully be "95/98".

Please don't criticize, since this is for 'crappy old RuneScape'. It really doesn't help.
