JavaScript - Long Polling Working, However Multiple Tabs Open
Hi,
I have long polling functionality working with Google Desktop Notifications. http://blog.perplexedlabs.com/2009/0...-long-polling/ However if I have multiple tabs open then the Notification received from the server is duplicated on every tab. Is there way to prevent this from happening as it should only appear once? Thanks Similar TutorialsI'm trying to use long-polling for a chat program that I am developing. Currently, I have the following setup: Code: var lpOnComplete = function(response) { // Do success stuff lpStart(); } var lpStart = function() { $.post('receive.php', {}, lpOnComplete, 'json'); }; $(document).ready(lpStart); receive.php will run until it times out (30 seconds) or gets new information. The problem is, I also need to post some data such as when a user updates their status or sends a message while the receive.php is running. However, I cannot post data until the receive.php request is finished processing. What is the best way to run 2 requests at the same time? Help is greatly appreciated. hi experts, I need to open same url (flash streaming site) on multiple tabs (min 100 tabs) without crashing my browser or drinking all my cpu usage. Pls dont ask me why i need to open like that. The question is can it be done. Thanks Hello! I am trying to find a script that allows you to open multiple browser tabs and then close each of those tabs, either one by one or all at once. Does anyone know how to do this please? Thanks so much for your help. Dear friends, I use this script wich works fine in FF, Opera and Chrome but not in IE! Code: <script type="text/javascript"> function DoAllThese() { window.open('http://google.com', 'One','_blank'); window.open('http://www.yahoo.com','Two','_blank'); } </script> Code: <button onClick="DoAllThese();">Open</button> Is it possible to do it in IE? hi i try this code it not working beacause its open after one second open new tab javascript query but i have also use php redirect url also . i want javascript new tab url open new tab before page redriect here is code Code: <script src="//code.jquery.com/jquery-1.11.0.min.js"></script> <script src="//code.jquery.com/jquery-migrate-1.2.1.min.js"></script> <script type="text/javascript"> $(document).ready(function() { setTimeout(function() { window.open( 'https://google.com', '_blank' ); }, 2000); }); </script> <?php $url='http://yahoo.com'; echo header ('Location:'.$url); ?> in above code i want page redirect to yahoo.com before open new tab of google.com how to set it please help me I am currently designing a website for our public library. I have added a card catalog search bar on the side of every page. Our catalog software company has supplied the code. After embedding it, I previewed each page to make sure it was working properly. At the time, it worked fine. Since then, I have added other elements to the homepage such as a Twitter feed and a Flickr slideshow. Now, when I attempt to search in the catalog search bar on the homepage, it opens two tabs, but only in Firefox. Our IT person from the software company suggested I make a copy of the page and strip the code down to see what the problem is. After doing this, I have made no headway. Even with the catalog as the only code left on the page, other than text, it still opens two tabs. The following is the code embedded on the homepage: Code: <div> <script type='text/javascript'> function gotoserver() { sn = document.getElementById('server').value; redirecturl = 'http://webopac.infovisionsoftware.com/stephenville/default.aspx?Title='+sn; window.open(redirecturl) //document.location.href=redirecturl; } </script> <input type='text' name='server' id='server' /> <input type='submit' id='mySearch' value='Go' onclick='javascript:gotoserver();' /> </div> I would appreciate any advice given. Thank you for your time. Hello, I have some code to open 1 dialog box. Could someone please help me manipulate this code to open multiple boxes with different contents. I would like to do this with out duplicating the existing code, maybe setting a variable. The least amount of code the better. Thanks in advance. I have a bit of an issue trying to get one link to open more than one link at a time. Perhaps you can either help me or suggest a better way to do so. I have created a table with hidden rows until a user clicks an open in either cell. Once the user clicks a cell, the next row of opens opens up. What I am having trouble with is getting the table headings to be opened once hidden. Each set of options needs a title or question for the user to understand what choices to make. (these are the td's with colspan of 2) I am using javascript to show and hide the cells I have so far, and I can hide them just fine, I just want to show both sets of cells once the user clicks one link. its a bit complicated because i have functions all over the place Any help you give me would be greatly appreciated. Hello I have an onclick function used in my table which opens a new window on clicking the table element.. it works fine except that I seem unable to name the window being opened... Here is my function for opening the window: Code: function LinkTo(page){ window.open ("http://www.xxx.com , "testpage" ); } Any thoughts? Thanks Can anyone tell y the below code is not working in ie7 and ie8. working fine in ie6 window opened and gets closed immediately Very Urgent: <script language="javascript"> var perlwin; perlwin=window.open("' || Hse_Constants.strFileDownloadURL || 'download.pl?strSearchSeqID_=' || numSearchSEQ || '","tinywin","resizable=0,toolbar=0,menubar=0,status=1,width=775,height=500"); function closeWin() { timer = setTimeout("checkForOpener()", 10000); } function checkForOpener(){ try{ var myVar=window.opener.document; timer = setTimeout("checkForOpener()", 10000); }catch(e){ perlwin.close(); } } closeWin();</script>' Hi Guys, I have written a simple code to open up a new window onclick of a button as follows; Code: function loadExamp() { var reqType = getElementValue("reqType", 1); window.open("../jsp/loadExamples.jsp?reqType=" + reqType, "Connection Test Utility - Message Examples", "width=500,height=300,menubar=no,status=yes, location=yes, toolbar=no,scrollbars=yes" ); return; } The problem is that this code is working on Google Chrome but not in Firefox and IE. Why is that and how can I resolve this issue. I am using Firefox 3.6.11 and IE 8.0.XX. Also I tried to open a new window using <a href> option with the same URL and its working but the only problem is that I want to pass my next JSP an argument which is only possible with function or script. I googled it but couldn't find much information except that there is some security problem. For that I have disabled the 'Pop up Bloker' on both Firefox and IE but still not working. When I click my button there is no activity with 'Firefox' but IE gives me error as follows; Code: Message: Invalid argument. Line: 74 Char: 2 Code: 0 URI: http://localhost:8080/T24Utility/scripts/verifyCxPool.js Please help, Thanks, -- Sjunejo Hi There, The following piece of code is working fine in IE6 but not in IE 8: if (Windowvar != null) { Windowvar.close(); } Windowvar= window.open(sUrl, 'static', viewerWinOption, true); To explain the functionality: 1. User clicks on one of the links on page 1 2. Clicking takes user from Page 1 to Page 2 (the transaction page). 3. Along with page 2, another page (Page 3) is opened. 4. User saves the transactions in the Page 2 and he is taken back to page 1 5. User clicks other link in Page 1 and activity in point 2 is repeated along with point 3 The issue is, when User clicks on the link AGAIN(for second transaction) in the Page 1 the Page 3 opens in the same browser window in the IE 6 but in IE 8 it opens in the differenct browser window (which shouldnt be happening) Any help will be appreciated. Regards, Sameer. I have tried the following code on FF and Safari on OSX 10.6.3 , and FF stop at after print out "step 2", whereas Safari did not print out "step 2" after the setTimeout("step2();",10000); Did I do something wrong ? Appreciate any advise. Code: <html> <p><b> SetTimeout Testing </b> <script language="JavaScript"> <!-- Begin document.write("step 1"); function step3() { document.write("step 3"); } function step2() { document.write("step 2"); setTimeout("step3();",10000); } setTimeout("step2();",10000); // End --> </script> </html> Hello, I am new to javascript and have managed to create the below form with few fields validation that is working. The javascript makes an input field for the date. The problem is that the script interfers between other scripts in the other forms and i get wrong orderdate. Code: <form action='dataadd.php' name='$id'>"; $datestime=time(); echo "<input type=hidden name=dateid value='$id'>"; echo "<input type=hidden name=datestime value='$datestime'>";?> <script type="text/javascript"> DateInput('orderdate', true, 'yyyy-mm-dd')</script>.... So, I'm using a lot of js and I needed to find a work around to get it all working together, so I'm using InsertContent and RemoveContent to control several divs that I have. In this case it is 4 divs, but in other situations I'll have up to 10. My problem is that when the user starts with the first div displayed, the other 3 swap just fine, however, when clicking through the set of links, once the user gets to the 3rd link that is supposed to swap out the divs all the divs show up except the first, and the same happens on the fourth link. This is my js for the div swap functionality: Code: <script type="text/javascript"> <!-- function InsertContent(tid) { if(document.getElementById(tid).style.display == "none") { document.getElementById(tid).style.display = ""; } else { document.getElementById(tid).style.display = "none"; } } function RemoveContent(tid) { if(document.getElementById(tid).style.display == "") { document.getElementById(tid).style.display = "none"; } else { document.getElementById(tid).style.display = ""; } } //--> </script> These are the html links: Code: <div class="listimg"><a href="javascript:RemoveContent('view2','view3','view4'); InsertContent('view1'); swapimg(0); " ><img src="../assets/images/nokia/nokia01_thumb.jpg" id="item0" alt="" style="opacity:.99;" /></a></div> <div class="listimg"><a href="javascript:RemoveContent('view1','view3','view4'); InsertContent('view2'); swapimg(1); "><img src="../assets/images/nokia/nokia02_thumb.jpg" id="item1" alt="" /></a></div> <div class="listimg"><a href="javascript:RemoveContent('view1','view2','view4'); InsertContent('view3'); swapimg(2);"><img src="../assets/images/nokia/nokia03_thumb.jpg" id="item2" alt=""/></a></div> <div class="listimg"><a href="javascript:RemoveContent('view1','view2','view3'); InsertContent('view4'); swapimg(3);"><img src="../assets/images/nokia/nokia04_thumb.jpg" id="item3" alt=""/></a></div> And these are the divs that are being removed and added: Code: <div id="view1" style="display: " > <a href="../assets/images/nokia/nokia01_big.jpg" class="thickbox" title="Windowcling" rel="gallery-art" >view larger1</a> </div> <div id="view2" style="display:none" > <a href="../assets/images/nokia/nokia02_big.jpg" class="thickbox" title="Windowcling2" rel="gallery-art2" >view larger2</a> </div> <div id="view3" style="display:none" > <a href="../assets/images/nokia/nokia03_big.jpg" class="thickbox" title="Windowcling3" rel="gallery-art3" >view larger3</a> </div> <div id="view4" style="display:none" > <a href="../assets/images/nokia/nokia04_big.jpg" class="thickbox" title="Windowcling2" rel="gallery-art4" >view larger4</a> </div> Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance! Hi, I want to restrict opening my popup window if it is already opened. For simple scenario, it is quite possible to do but in my case -- 1) When parent page is opening popup window, it is getting refreshed (required from client for some reason). 2) Once submit button is clicked from popup window, again parent page is getting refreshed (again its a requirement from client side). With these 2 conditions, I lost my saved value from variable and hence new popup is keep coming when the action is same. Currently I am using below code to open popup [CODE] function OpenWindow() { if(winPop && !winPop.closed) { alert("Popup is already open"); } else { winPop = window.open('MyPopupPage.aspx'); } } [CODE] Please help me to get rid of this problem. Thanks in advance. - Bhasker |
