JavaScript - Inner Html / Text Replace Help
So I have a site, It has a few paragraphs. When a customer presses a href, or a navigation link, I want that block of text to change to a different set of paragraphs.
For instance Ive got a Div set for the main block of text with general information. When they click a link at the top, I want this text to change to something else, without having to reload the entire page or create a completely new HTML file. I have read on innerhtml and setting particular elements but I cant find any good online resources for using a simple link rather than a button to change a block of text In essence Set block of text to be element "old text" Set block of new text to be element "new text" ( all the while not showing this text on the page until the link is pressed) Classify href as trigger to replace old text with new text. BAM, victory! Any help would be greatly appreciated. Similar TutorialsI need to replace the captions with simple text for download speed purposes. It works. But, if I replace in this code the name "my_form" by "contact-form" and "my_text" by "message", it doesnt ! It looks like the keyword is " my_form ". You change that , and the script will not work! It turns out that I have to change those names because the form as it was already had those names my_form and message before I added this counter And I dont want to replace the names of the form in order to adapt them to this code snippet below. The display will be a table of fixed size (m by n cells). Some of the cells will be merged. When the table updates, different sets of cells may be merged. It needs to be coded in HTML5, which I assume includes the use of JavaScript and CSS (The specs of this is rather unclear at the moment, so I'm going to cover all bases). Anyhow, looking through the HTML5 and JavaScript tutorials, I found two ways to solve this problem. One way would be to have a script to parse out the relevant information, and have it output into a table (dynamically generating the HTML required). The second way would be to have the script draw the table on its own in a canvas. User events (such as arrow keys on the keyboard) will change the position of the focus (move the magnifying glass in a cardinal direction). I hit a small snag with the first solution - Is it possible to update the table on the page (including changing the structure of it) without having to refresh? If you could point me to a relevant tutorial or example on the web, I'd greatly appreciate it. Hi there, this is my first post. I'm very new to javascript and have been programming a "beer counter" that simply counts +1 into a text object after every click. After I got this to work I copied the code in order to make a clear button / function. I've been having problems, even though the code seems to be identical. This is likely an obvious question, pardon my inexperience. <html> <head> <title>Beer Counter</title></head> <body><script language="Javascript"> var beers = 0 var output ="" function beer() { beers = beers + 1 output = document.getElementById('output') output.value = beers } function clear() { beers = 0 output = document.getElementById('output') output.value = beers } </script> <input type='button' value='Crush' onclick='beer()'; /> Beer count:</input> <input type='text' id='output' name='output'; /><br/> <input type='button' value='Clear' onclick='clear()'; /> </body> </html> not sure what section to post this in, basically i have html in a javascript function that i want to pass into a php. here is some of my javascript code Code: var names = document.getElementById('names').value; var nms = names.split(";;") for (i=0; i<las.length; i++) { var contentString = [ '<div id="tab-1">', '<p><h1>'+nms[i]+'</h1></p>', '</div>' +'<form action="index.php" method="post" enctype="multipart/form-data">'+ '<input id="delbutton" name="delbutton" type="submit" value="Delete">',+'</form>' } then when the button gets pressed it goes to Code: if(isset($_POST['delbutton'])=='Delete') { echo("into the php delete: " . $_POST['name2'] . "<br />\n"); echo '<pre>' . print_r($_POST,true) . '</pre>'; } basically i want to be able to access the value of nms[i] in the php call. i am able to pass anything in <input> tags like normal html, but i want to get nms[i] to go through what should i do? Hey I was just wondering how I could do this... I currently have this Code: <span id="span_1">Title</span> What I want to know is if the span is something like 240px in width how can I make it so if the text inside the span tag is to long and puts the text onto a second line how can i make a cut off point in the text to stop the text moving to a new line and adding '...' if the text is to long?? I'm writing a small browser-side Javascript that parses XML from a file and modifies it using E4X. I need to get the result to an xml text file without making the user go through a dozen hoops. Since making a JS client do file I/O is nearly impossible I gave up on that. My next idea was to make Firefox open a new window of contentType text/xml, with my serialized xml in it: Code: var xmlDoc = new XML(SourceXMLString); //SourceXMLString is read from an xml text file output = window.open(""); output.document.open("text/xml"); output.document.write(xmlDoc.toXMLString()); output.document.close(); However any document.write instance seems to set the contentType to text/html and so all the tags are rendered wrong, naturally. From https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=73409 it seems that document.open creates the right contentType, but document.write messes it up. Note: this is for a specific internal project, not the public internet. Therefore it only needs to work in Mozilla 3+, and also server-side is not an option. I'm totally open to other suggestions. What's the most streamlined/easiest way, for the code and the user, to get from that XML construct to an .xml file? |
