JavaScript - Javascript To Change Image And Text
I am creating a photography website and am almost there with coding a very simple image viewer with clickable thumbnails etc.
I have used the following script to change the images; Code: <script> function changeImage(filename) { document.mainimage.src = filename; } </script> the main image is like this; Code: <img name="mainimage" src="../Images/wedding-photo-01-bride-getting-ready.JPG" title="bride getting ready"/> And the links/images are like this..... Code: <a href="javascript:changeImage('../Images/wedding-photo-01-bride-getting-ready.JPG')"> <img class="thumbbox" id="mainimage" src="../Images/wedding-photo-01-bride-get-thumb.JPG" alt="wellis photography logo" title="bride getting ready"> </a> This works fine, but I would also like a caption underneath the main image that changes at the same time. Is there a way to do this simply? Perhaps using some variation of the following script? Code: <script type="text/javascript"> document.write(document.getElementById('myimage').title); </script> Also, one other thing - is it possible to add a 'fade' transition to my 'changeimage' function? Thanks in advance Similar TutorialsCode: function greet() { var hour = (new Date()).getHours(); var when = (hour > 17) ? "evening" : ( (hour > 11) ? "afternoon" : "morning" ); document.write('<img src="' + when + '.png" alt="Good ' + when + '">\n');} This script puts up a png which gives a greeting depending on the time of day. I want instead to put the greeting as text. It's a bit ostentacious as it is.. I would appreciate any pointers. Site is here. Thank you. Hello, I was wondering if anyone could help me with a personal website I am modifying for a friend. He basically has a list of links such as: Home Blog Pictures Links What I want to do is that whenever you roll over, say, "Blog", an image appears to the right of the links (the image will be a small screenshot of what the blog looks like). When you roll over "Pictures", a different image appears in it's place. I already know how to do this when rolling over images, but not rolling over text. I used document.getElementById and just set the src to the image, but how do I do this when I just have text to roll over? Is it possible/recommended to use the follow JQuery? http://ajax.googleapis.com/ajax/libs.../jquery.min.js Thank you for your time Right i need some help with some code, i have been trying 2 days to get it to work! basically the 3 image locations are in Variables in PHP $piclocation1 $piclocation2 $piclocation3 What i want is when you hover over the div class "breaking-news", i want the div ID "latest-news-image" to change to that specific image background. example the top "breaking-news" class is on hover and the image $piclocation1 should show in "latest-news-image". if the middle "breaking-news" class is on hover the image $piclocation2 should show in "latest-news-image". and so on if you could help me figure out a way around to get this to work i would be ever so greatfull, as i dont know if i got this in the right area as it would contain javascript, php and poss Css! and even if you could point me in the right direction would be helpful! this is the website page i am testing it on if you would like to look at if visually http://www.wolverhampton-wanderers.co.uk/text.php and here is the code: Code: <html xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml"> <head> <link rel="Stylesheet" type="text/css" href="./wolves.css"/> <title>Untitled Document</title> <?php $getnews = "SELECT * FROM `news` ORDER BY `news`.`id` DESC LIMIT 3"; $news = mysql_query($getnews) or die(mysql_error()); $counter = 1; while($row1 = mysql_fetch_array($news)){ if($counter == 1) { $picture1 = $row1['imageID']; $getimage1 = "SELECT * FROM news_images WHERE imageID = $picture1"; $image1 = mysql_query($getimage1) or die(mysql_error()); $pic1 = mysql_fetch_array($image1); $piclocation1 = $pic1['imageFile']; } if($counter == 2) { $picture2 = $row1['imageID']; $getimage2 = "SELECT * FROM news_images WHERE imageID = $picture2"; $image2 = mysql_query($getimage2) or die(mysql_error()); $pic2 = mysql_fetch_array($image2); $piclocation2 = $pic2['imageFile']; } if($counter == 3) { $picture3 = $row1['imageID']; $getimage3 = "SELECT * FROM news_images WHERE imageID = $picture3"; $image3 = mysql_query($getimage3) or die(mysql_error()); $pic3 = mysql_fetch_array($image3); $piclocation3 = $pic3['imageFile']; } $counter = $counter + 1; } ?> </head> <body> <div class="shaddow"><!-- This is the shaddow behind the content --> <div class="content"> <!-- This is the content and main background --> <div class="header"><img src="../images/header.jpg"/></div> <div class="menu"> <div id="nav"> <?php $cat = "SELECT * FROM `top-menu` ORDER BY 'category' ASC"; $category = mysql_query($cat) or die(mysql_error()); $start = 1; while($row = mysql_fetch_array($category)){ $submenu = $row['sub-menu']; if($submenu == '1'){ echo "</li><li><a id='{$row['Active-ID']}' " . The results are then displayed in a table. This is working fine. In addition to this, I have created another form in which a user enters a value in a textbox. This value is then compared to the results obtained in the previous table. The values below should be shown in green and those above in red (identical values may be shown in amber). This should be acomplished using javascript. My code is as shown below: PHP Code: <!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD XHTML 1.0 Transitional//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/xhtml1/DTD/xhtml1-transitional.dtd"> <html xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml"> <head> <meta http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html; charset=utf-8" /> <title>Search Script</title> <script type="text/javascript"> function hallo(){ var value1=200 var inputVal = window.document.getElementById("one").value; //alert(negNum); if(inputVal > value1){ window.document.getElementById("color").style.color="red"; } else if(inputVal < value1) { window.document.getElementById("color").style.color="green"; } else if(inputVal == value1) { window.document.getElementById("color").style.color="#FF7E00"; } } </script> </head> <body> <form> Value1: <input type="text" name="one" id="one" ><br/> Value2: <input type="text" name="two" id="two" value="" onClick="hallo();"> <br/> Value3: <input type="text" name="three" id="$cell" value="test data"> </form> <?Php require_once("database.php"); $CustID=$_POST['CustomerID']; $query="SELECT c.*,r.Meter_No,r.January,r.February,r.March,r.April,r.May,r.June FROM customer AS c,readings AS r WHERE c.CustomerID=r.CustomerID AND c.CustomerID='".$CustID."'"; $result=mysql_query($query) ; //If no matching records are found in the database, the code below will display a customized error message $num=mysql_numrows($result)or die("No Matching Records Found In The Database!"); $fields_num = mysql_num_fields($result); echo "<h3>Historical Meter Readings</h3>"; echo "<table border='0'cellspacing='5' cellpadding='5' id ='three'><tr>"; // printing table headers for($i=0; $i<$fields_num; $i++) { $field = mysql_fetch_field($result); echo "<td >{$field->name}</td>"; } echo "</tr>\n"; // printing table rows while($row = mysql_fetch_row($result)) { echo "<tr id='color'>"; // $row is array... foreach( .. ) puts every element // of $row to $cell variable foreach($row as $cell) echo "<td align='center' <font face='Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif' >$cell</td>"; echo "</tr >\n"; } mysql_free_result($result); ?> </body> </html> Currently my javascript code changes the entire row in the table, which is not I desired. How do I edit this script so that only values in particular CELL in a row e.g CELL 5, is changed and not the entire row? Thank you. I am new to JavaScript and I am having a difficult time finding what I thought would be easy to find (so please forgive me if this has been posted somewhere else...) I have 4 text strings that when a user runs his/her mouseOver, I'd like to display a corresponding picture in a display area. I thought that would be easy enough. However, it gets a bit complicated for me since I am also using CSS to position the display area. For some reason all I can find out there are examples using HTML tables for display image positioning. I don't want to use tables. I'm not sure if this will make a difference but my style sheet is external. Also, the text does not link/go to another page. I REALLY hope that made sense. Someone please help me! I'm very inexperienced with Javascript, but want to use the onclick event to change an image to text. I'm working on a directory type website and want users to have to click on the image of a telephone in order to reveal the telephone number they are looking for. how do i do this? Also is there a way of tracking how many clicks each person gets? I'd really appreciate any help you guys can give me on this I need a JavaScript image changer like this: When you mouse over photo1.jpg, it will change to photo2.jpg. When you mouse over photo2.jpg it will change to photo 3.jpg and so on untill photo5.jpg. Please keep this in JavaScript form :) Hi, I have a php script that displays database data in a web table. I also have a javascript code which is supposed to compare the value entered in a web form to that hard coded in the script and change the color to green if its below, amber if its equal and red if its greater than. Below is my javascript code: Code: <script type="text/javascript"> function hallo(){ var value1=200 var inputVal = window.document.getElementById("one").value; //alert(negNum); if(inputVal > value1){ window.document.getElementById("color").style.color="red"; } else if(inputVal < value1) { window.document.getElementById("color").style.color="green"; } else if(inputVal == value1) { window.document.getElementById("color").style.color="#FF7E00"; } } </script> And below is my php script that displays the data in a web table. Code: <body> <form> Value1: <input type="text" name="one" id="one" ><br/> Value2: <input type="text" name="two" id="two" value="" onClick="hallo();"> <br/> Value3: <input type="text" name="three" id="$cell" value="test data"> </form> <?php require_once("database.php"); $CustID=$_POST['CustomerID']; $query="SELECT c.*,r.Meter_No,r.January,r.February,r.March,r.April,r.May,r.June FROM customer AS c,readings AS r WHERE c.CustomerID=r.CustomerID AND c.CustomerID='".$CustID."'"; $result=mysql_query($query); $num=mysql_numrows($result); mysql_close(); ?> <table border="0" cellspacing="2" cellpadding="2"> <tr> <th><font face="Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif">CustomerID</font></th> <th><font face="Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif">Title</font></th> <th><font face="Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif">First_Name</font></th> <th><font face="Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif">Last_Name</font></th> <th><font face="Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif">Meter_No</font></th> <th><font face="Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif">January</font></th> <th><font face="Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif">February</font></th> <th><font face="Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif">March</font></th> <th><font face="Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif">April</font></th> <th><font face="Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif">May</font></th> <th><font face="Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif">June</font></th> </tr> <?php $i=0; while ($i < $num) { $f1=mysql_result($result,$i,"CustomerID"); $f2=mysql_result($result,$i,"Title"); $f3=mysql_result($result,$i,"First_Name"); $f4=mysql_result($result,$i,"Last_Name"); $f5=mysql_result($result,$i,"Meter_No"); $f6=mysql_result($result,$i,"January"); $f7=mysql_result($result,$i,"February"); $f8=mysql_result($result,$i,"March"); $f9=mysql_result($result,$i,"April"); $f10=mysql_result($result,$i,"May"); $f11=mysql_result($result,$i,"June"); ?> <tr> <td><font face="Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif"><?php echo $f1; ?></font></td> <td><font face="Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif"><?php echo $f2; ?></font></td> <td><font face="Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif"><?php echo $f3; ?></font></td> <td><font face="Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif"><?php echo $f4; ?></font></td> <td><font face="Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif"><?php echo $f5; ?></font></td> <td id="color"><font face="Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif"><?php echo $f6; ?></font></td> <td id="color"><font face="Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif"><?php echo $f7; ?></font></td> <td id="color"><font face="Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif"><?php echo $f8; ?></font></td> <td id="color"><font face="Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif"><?php echo $f9; ?></font></td> <td id="color"><font face="Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif"><?php echo $f10; ?></font></td> <td id="color"><font face="Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif"><?php echo $f11; ?></font></td> </tr> <?php $i++; } ?> </body> As you can see from my javascript, i am getting the elements by id (getElementById("color")). Currently, only the first <td> with id='color' is changing when the value is entered. How do I make the text in other table cells with id='color' change color when the comparison value is entered? Hi - I'm working in ASP.Net 2.0. My page has a GridView control, which is populated by a SQLDataSource. The GridView has one Button control per row. The button has a client-side javascript function (ShowDelete) attached to its OnClientClick event on DataBinding of the GridView. This event fires some javascript. The javascript does 3 things: - It changes the text of the button from "Hide" to "Create" - It changes the background color of the button from red to green - It assigns a new onClientClick event to the button: "ShowAvailable" The text and the color of the button change with no problem. After I change the OnClientClick event, I send an alert with the button's OnClientClick event and it reports it to be "ShowAvailable". However, when I click on the button, it doesn't fire ShowAvailable, it fires the original onClientClick event (ShowDelete). Also, when I do View Source, it shows the button's text, color and OnClientClick event as their original settings, i.e., "Hidden", "Red" and "ShowDelete", even though I'm looking at a green button that says "Create." What's going on here? Here's the code I use to attach the OnClientClick event on DataBinding of the GridView: Code: foreach (GridViewRow row in this.gvLocation.Rows) { if (row.RowType == DataControlRowType.DataRow || row.RowType == DataControlRowType.EmptyDataRow) { int rowindex = row.RowIndex + 1; //to exclude the header which is counted as a row when we get to javascript btnAction.OnClientClick = "ShowDelete(" + rowindex.ToString() + "); return false"; } } Here's the javascript for ShowDelete: Code: function ShowDelete(rowindex) { var locationgridID = '<%= gvLocation.ClientID %>'; locationgrid = document.getElementById(locationgridID); if (locationgrid != null) { action_cell = locationgrid.rows[rowindex].cells[3]; for (k = 0; k < action_cell.childNodes.length; k++) { if (typeof(action_cell.childNodes[k].id) == 'string') { action_cell.childNodes[k].value = "Create"; action_cell.childNodes[k].style.backgroundColor = "Green"; action_cell.childNodes[k].onclientclick = "ShowAvailable(" + rowindex + "); return false"; alert(action_cell.childNodes[k].onclientclick); // reports the OnClientClick event is ShowAvailable } } } } Any thoughts are greatly appreciated! Hi I am using the css image gallery I got from: http://www.dynamicdrive.com/style/cs...image-gallery/ I want to change the behaviour, currently an image is enlarged when a user hovers over the link/thumbail. I would like to change it so that the main image is instead shown onclick of the thumbnail, and remains enlarged until another click. Is this possible using some javascript? Hello, my name is Paula an I am making a website where I have an image changing on my homepage each time it is reloaded. I found a code that lets me do this. This is the script: <HEAD> <SCRIPT LANGUAGE="JavaScript"> <!-- Begin // Set up the image files to be used. var theImages = new Array() // do not change this // To add more image files, continue with the // pattern below, adding to the array. theImages[0] = '1.gif' theImages[1] = '2.gif' theImages[2] = '3.gif' theImages[3] = '4.gif' var j = 0 var p = theImages.length; var preBuffer = new Array() for (i = 0; i < p; i++){ preBuffer[i] = new Image() preBuffer[i].src = theImages[i] } var whichImage = Math.round(Math.random()*(p-1)); function showImage(){ document.write('<img src="'+theImages[whichImage]+'">'); } </script> </HEAD> <BODY> <SCRIPT LANGUAGE="JavaScript"> <!-- Begin showImage(); // End --> </script> It worked fine, with four images. The thing is I wanted to put up to 16 in it. So I tried ad up to 16 numbers with images but as soon as I put more than four, it would not work. Finally what I did was to copy four times the same numbers and then it worked (0-3 , four times)... so then I had many images shown randomly but the problem now is that the random is very uneven among the images. Meaning, I get variation among very few, and many time repeating one. This is what my script looks like now: <SCRIPT LANGUAGE="JavaScript"> <!-- Begin // Set up the image files to be used. var theImages = new Array() // do not change this // To add more image files, continue with the // pattern below, adding to the array. theImages[0]='http://elenacliment.tomosfactory.fr/userfiles/image/ImagesElena/ElenaPaintingsHome2/Alacenaconcajadegalletes-pgWShadow3.jpg' theImages[1]='http://elenacliment.tomosfactory.fr/userfiles/image/ImagesElena/ElenaPaintingsHome2/AltarinGasStation-pgSH.jpg' theImages[2]='http://elenacliment.tomosfactory.fr/userfiles/image/ImagesElena/ElenaPaintingsHome2/AltaroftheDeadwithEmbroideredTablecloth-pgSH.jpg' theImages[3]='http://elenacliment.tomosfactory.fr/userfiles/image/ImagesElena/ElenaPaintingsHome2/Altarsobreparedverde-pgSH.jpg' theImages[0]='http://elenacliment.tomosfactory.fr/userfiles/image/ImagesElena/ElenaPaintingsHome2/BricksandClotheslineSH-pg.jpg' theImages[1]='http://elenacliment.tomosfactory.fr/userfiles/image/ImagesElena/ElenaPaintingsHome2/Cocinaamarilla-pgSH.jpg' theImages[2]='http://elenacliment.tomosfactory.fr/userfiles/image/ImagesElena/ElenaPaintingsHome2/LatadeTecateconenchufes-pgSH.jpg' theImages[3]='http://elenacliment.tomosfactory.fr/userfiles/image/ImagesElena/ElenaPaintingsHome2/LedgewithTecates-wcSH.jpg' theImages[0]='http://elenacliment.tomosfactory.fr/userfiles/image/ImagesElena/ElenaPaintingsHome2/Mesaamarilla-pgSH-pg.jpg' theImages[1]='http://elenacliment.tomosfactory.fr/userfiles/image/ImagesElena/ElenaPaintingsHome2/MosaicwithPhotographofVictorianInterior-pgSH.jpg' theImages[2]='http://elenacliment.tomosfactory.fr/userfiles/image/ImagesElena/ElenaPaintingsHome2/Paredrojaconjualas-pg.jpg' theImages[3]='http://elenacliment.tomosfactory.fr/userfiles/image/ImagesElena/ElenaPaintingsHome2/red_cupboardSH.jpg' theImages[0]='http://elenacliment.tomosfactory.fr/userfiles/image/ImagesElena/ElenaPaintingsHome2/RoomwithLandscapeofBurgundy-pgSH.jpg' theImages[1]='http://elenacliment.tomosfactory.fr/userfiles/image/ImagesElena/ElenaPaintingsHome2/Cocinaamarilla-pgSH.jpg' theImages[2]='http://elenacliment.tomosfactory.fr/userfiles/image/ImagesElena/ElenaPaintingsHome2/YellowandRedPorch-wcSH.jpg' theImages[3]='http://elenacliment.tomosfactory.fr/userfiles/image/ImagesElena/ElenaPaintingsHome2/LedgewithTecates-wcSH.jpg' var j = 0 var p = theImages.length; var preBuffer = new Array() for (i = 0; i < p; i++){ preBuffer[i] = new Image() preBuffer[i].src = theImages[i] } var whichImage = Math.round(Math.random()*(p-1)); function showImage(){ document.write('<img src="'+theImages[whichImage]+'">'); } // End --> </script> So my question is: How can I manage with this script to have all my images showing up equally when they change in refresh? I don not mind if they are not random, I also tried to remove the random property but could not manage either. Any ideas? Thank you so much, I really appreciate your help. Paula Basically, i have an image that i want it to be resized when i maximize and change browser size, so it is always centered. I have to use only javascript. I tried many window.resize functions but nothing works. Lets say the image is called 0000.jpg. Anyone has any ideas how to make this? Thank you in advance. Hi guys, I need some help. Im trying to make a navagation menu with images that need to be changed when someone hovers over the child category. So lets say I have a menu that looks like this: Code: <img src="notactiveimagemenu1.jpg" alt=""> <ul id="menu1"> <li>link</li> <li>link</li> <li>link</li> </ul> <img src="notactiveimagemenu2.jpg" alt=""> <ul id="menu2"> <li>link</li> <li>link</li> <li>link</li> </ul> Now what im trying to do is if someone hovers over the li items from menu1 to change the image src of menu1.jpg to active. I was hoping to do this with some javascript. Code: // i was thinking about something like this: // first put menu items in a array // then use document.getElementById(id).onmouseover = function() // and make some sort of check to see which src should be changed. Now I really have no clue how to do it. So if anyone knows a cool solution please let me know. I know I could add onmouseover events to each li item and changing the src of the category. But Im trying to find a better solution. And I think I should be able to use document.getElementById(id).onmouseover = function() for that. Anyway thanks for any tips. Please note I know I could use jquery to do all of this very easy but I consider this practice because I don't know that much javascript. Hello. The code below lets a user select a drop down option and a picture changes depending on the selection. I am trying to make it so when you select an option on the dropdown the picture shows up in the center of the screen and in the background behind the text. Here is the code. Code: <html> <head> <style type='text/css'> #txt {background-repeat:no-repeat;width:200px;height:200px;} </style> <script type='text/javascript'> function div_bg(team){ document.getElementById('txt').style.backgroundImage="url(images/" + team + ".jpg)"; } </script> </head> <body> <select name='team' onChange='div_bg(this.value);'> <option name='arsenal' value='arsenal'>Arsenal</option> <option name='liverpool' value='liverpool'>Liverpool</option> </select> <div id='txt'></div> </body> Thanks in advance!! So I found this script and i give all props to the author but can anyone help me to add text to the random images. Also i need a button that will generate the random images/text not when you refresh the page but when your press the button and to not display any image/text till the button is pressed? Thanks in advance. Such as Inception. When you hover over it and a black bubble appears. Also I'm not sure what it is called. If anyone knows how to do it, It would be appreciated. Thanks!
