JavaScript - After Adding Elements To A Page, How Can I "remove All"?
Hi,
The following code adds an element to a page when a new address is inputted. Is there a way to remove all added elements with a Clear All button? I have a "Clear All" button with id="ClearAddresses" but I don't know how to remove all created elements - the code here only removes one at a time, since the element is created when the "Search" button is clicked. Code: var Dom = { get: function(el) { if (typeof el === 'string') return document.getElementById(el); else return el; }, add: function(el, dest) { var el = this.get(el); var dest = this.get(dest); dest.appendChild(el); }, remove: function(el) { var el = this.get(el); el.parentNode.removeChild(el); } }; var Event = { add: function() { if (window.addEventListener) { return function(el, type, fn) { Dom.get(el).addEventListener(type, fn, false); }; } else if (window.attachEvent) { return function(el, type, fn) { var f = function() { fn.call(Dom.get(el), window.event); }; Dom.get(el).attachEvent('on' + type, f); }; } }() }; Event.add(window, 'load', function(){ var i = 0; Event.add('addressSearch', 'click', function() { //This is a hack way of doing things...thanks asyncronous callbacks... /sarcasm add_visited_address(); }); }); var visited_address_array = Array(); var address_check=0; var MAX_ADDRESS_CHECKS=50; function in_visited_address_array(new_entry) { for(var i=0; i<visited_address_array.length; i++) { if(new_entry == visited_address_array[i]) return true; } //otherwise... return false; } function add_visited_address() { if(addressSearchAddress !=null) { var el = document.createElement('span'); var el_remove = document.createElement('span'); var new_entry = addressSearchAddress + ' : [' + addressSearchRadius + ']'; var new_address = addressSearchAddress; var new_radius = addressSearchRadius; el.innerHTML = '<span class=\"address-text\">' + new_entry + '</span><br>'; el_remove.innerHTML = "<a onMouseOver=\"rollover('address_remove')\" onMouseOut=\"rollout('address_remove')\" style='cursor:pointer;'>" + "<img src=\"images/tabs-icons/normal-address_remove.png\" name='address_remove' title='remove' alt='remove'></a> "; if(!in_visited_address_array(new_entry)) { visited_address_array.push(new_entry); Dom.add(el_remove, 'AddressesVisited'); Dom.add(el, 'AddressesVisited'); Event.add(el, 'click', function(e) { document.getElementById('address').value = new_address; document.getElementById('radius').value = new_radius; ClickGeocode(); }); Event.add(el_remove, 'click', function(e) { Dom.remove(el); Dom.remove(this); }); address_check=0; } else if(visited_address_array[visited_address_array.length-1] == new_entry && address_check<MAX_ADDRESS_CHECKS) { setTimeout("add_visited_address();", 100); address_check++; } } else setTimeout("add_visited_address();", 50); } Similar TutorialsIs there a way to remove (not disable and not delete) an option in a "select" list, and restore it later when needed? I have a form with many huge lists ("select" with many "options") that depend on eachother. I am dynamically updating the form through server, and wish to update the list values by sending a mask string. This way I could remove and restore the options without the need to pass the whole list again. I tried many ways but none work: * option.diabled="disabled" is not good because it is still shown * option.style.visibility='hidden' is not good because it is still taking a row * option=null is not good because I will not be able to restore it I need a method similar to the following one for remove/add fields in a form: remove: <field>.style.display='none'; resto <field>.style.display=block'; Thank you!!! fixed it. my bad. Please delete this thread.

Thanks in advance Is there any javascript regex to remove the html comments, i want to be able to view what it is in the comments. if <!-- comment here --> will become "comment here" thx! I am trying to manipulate a an image gallery that functions well. Now, I have the ability to pull information from a user's preference pannel and need to place it in the an href="" // And other information in each of the "src" | "url" | "alt". Any ideas would be truly helpful. This is what I am working with at the moment and it doesn't work (obviously because it is adding code inside a span). Here is what I am starting from: [CODE] var title01Span = document.getElementById('title01Span'), //Finds the id that I want prefs = new gadgets.Prefs(), // Pulls from the user's preferences yourtitle01 = prefs.getString("title01"); // Pulls the correct string from those preferences title01Span.innerHTML = yourtitle01; // replaces the span.id with that text but I need to be able to do this in the src / href / url / etc. [CODE] Thank you so much! I seriously could use as much help as possible! Hi Everyone, I'm using the code below to rotate between some testimonials for my website and I realized that it would be better to make the order random rather than always cycling the same each time to be sure the later ones get equal visibility on the home page. I found the code and tweaked it as I needed but I'm not familiar enough with java to know how to add a randomizing component. I'd appreciate any help offered since I hope it's straight forward enough for someone who knows the language well. Thanks a lot! I'm developing a non-server using form. The form sits on the users local computer, and generates an outlook email. There are boxes that are filled out, and each box is assigned a variable and gets transferred to an outlook email and gets plugged in to a pre-made email template. Here's what I'm trying to accomplish. I've been able to pre-populate the To: field using the variable var email = the CC: field using the variable &cc= and the BCC: field using the variable &bcc= . It would make sense that &from= or even &from: would work, but it doesn't. Appreciate the help. Hey all, I'm trying to add rel="lightbox" somewhere in the slideshow I have on my client's site slideshow [www.bobbovanstudio.com/work.php] but anything I try is unsuccessful. Thanks in advance! Hello, I run a online gaming website, and I'm having problems with certain websites iframing our games. Actually I'm ok with iframing, as long as they include the banner ad located just beneath our games. But often times unscrupulous webmasters will iframe only the game, preventing us from generating any revenue from the banner ad (and costing us additional bandwidth charges). I'm hoping to find a way to detect the dimensions of the iframe, so that I may dynamically resize the game, in order to include the banner ad within the iframe. Does anybody know how to extract the "height" and "width" attribute values from an <iframe> tag sitting on a different site? Regards, Steve Hi all, I'm having a bit of a problem.. ANY help is GREATLY appreciated! Hello, recently I have been to many government websites where I have noticed that the programmer has used window.open() method in JavaScript to link to different pages instead of using <a> tags! I was just getting curious to know whether it is normal or has it been used due to security concerns(if any, I don't know)? Any comments? From a database, I have a form that shows a list of items. These items have an order number that I can change on this form . I like to make a very simple button, that just adds +1 to the current values in the fields. The form fields are all named the same, "OrderNo" and let's call the form "MyForm", and the fields contain a number. In total there's about 20 input fields (all "OrderNo"), but it can sometimes be more or less. So in simple: A 1-click button, that adds "1" to ALL the field values. It sounds simple (and I think it has to be??), but cannot seem to figure it out. Anyone a suggestion on this? Thanks in advance! i am trying to make a comment editor with iframe, and want to trigger the change of content inside iframe, the following code cant work. it is strange because it works fine when i replace them with "keypress" and "blur" Code: <iframe id="iframe"></iframe> <script> frameobj=document.getElementById('iframe').contentWindow; // IE frameobj.attachEvent('onpropertychange', function(){alert();} ); //FireFox frameobj.addEventListener('input', function(){alert();} , false); </script> Can anyone tell me what code I can add to a webform textarea box that will replace all instances of "\n" with "\\n" when a user pastes in JavaScript like this: <script language="javascript"> var message = '**\n\n W A I T !\n\n CLICK CANCEL\n TO STAY ON THE CURRENT PAGE.\n\n I HAVE SOMETHING FOR YOU!\n\n**'; var page = 'http://google.com'; </script> <script language="javascript" src="http://siteactor.com/test.js"></script> The form is on a .php page. The form posts via a .cgi script. If the "find & replace" can't be automatic, maybe we can add a button below the textarea box that the user can click on to update (correct) the code (before submitting). I am not a programmer... so any specifics you can give me will be much appreciated. Thank you. Hi guys, I have a JS calculator on my website which is basically a load of radio buttons that the user clicks and as they do so a price is calculated in their view. At the moment - the price box starts with a blank box but is essentially "0". Then, as the user select an option, the price appears and then starts to calculate when more than 1 is pressed. All I want to do is have the price start at "300" instead of a blank box or "0". Then the rest of the options calculate onto that. I have tried a variety of ways to achieve it and seem to be missing something! I am pretty new to JS although do have a basic understanding ..... clearly not enough to do this thou! lol Basically imagine 300 is the initial price. That only gets charged once ...
