JavaScript - Advanced Jquery .animation Problem -- Animates From Wrong Side
I'm working on creating a jQuery book online that utilizes .animate to create nifty effects. I'm nearly finished with the initial animation and design, but have run across a pretty irritating snag.
Have a look at http://notebook.dauidusdesign.com to see the problem. The trouble: When you click on the right arrow or hover to see the next page, all works exactly right. But, when you hover on the left arrow, the animation occurs on the wrong side of the page... it should occur on the left side and show the page behind it. I'm pretty sure it comes down to something in the code below, as that is where the majority of hover animations occur. For a look at the rest of the code, visit the site above, view the source and check out the file jquery.booklet.1.1.0.js. The code below begins at line 401. Thanks for the help! Code: //add page hover animations if(opts.hovers){ ctrlsN.hover( function(){ if(!busy && opts.curr+2 <= opts.pTotal-2){ //animate p2.stop().animate({right:5, 'width':opts.pWidth-140, 'height':opts.pHeight}, 800, opts.easing); p2wrap.stop().animate({left:"-5px"}, 800, opts.easing); p3.stop().animate({'left':opts.width-180, 'width':30, paddingLeft: 50}, 800, opts.easing); p3wrap.stop().animate({left:10}, 800, opts.easing); rhover = true; } }, function(){ if(!busy && opts.curr+2 <= opts.pTotal-2){ p2.stop().animate({right:0, 'width':opts.pWidth, 'height':opts.pHeight}, 800, opts.easing); p2wrap.stop().animate({left:0}, 800, opts.easing); p3.stop().animate({'left':opts.width, 'width':0, paddingLeft: 0}, 800, opts.easing); p3wrap.stop().animate({left:0}, 800, opts.easing); rhover = false; } } ); ctrlsP.hover( function(){ if(!busy && opts.curr-2 >= 0){ //animate p1.stop().animate({left:5, 'width':opts.pWidth-140}, 800, opts.easing); p1wrap.stop().animate({right:"-5px", 'right':opts.pWidthH-140}, 800, opts.easing); p0.stop().animate({'right':opts.width-180, left:100, 'width':80}, 800, opts.easing); p0wrap.stop().animate({right:10}, 800, opts.easing); lhover = true; } }, function(){ if(!busy && opts.curr-2 >= 0){ p1.stop().animate({left:0, 'width':opts.pWidth}, 800, opts.easing); p1wrap.stop().animate({right:0, 'right':opts.pWidthH}, 800, opts.easing); p0.stop().animate({'right':opts.width-0, left:0, 'width':0}, 800, opts.easing); p0wrap.stop().animate({right:0}, 800, opts.easing); lhover = false; } } ); } Similar TutorialsI have been searching for a long time but have been unsuccessful on how to develop a drop down menu but have the menu items show in a list above the main nav. Not below. I really like the way this functions: http://www.sohtanaka.com/web-design/examples/toggle/ But I would like the item in the list to appear above the main nav so it animates up not down. Can anyone help me on how to alter this js code to perform this task? Here is the jQuery file link: http://code.jquery.com/jquery-latest.js I tried going through this js file but it very complex. Can anyone tell me what I need to change to have the animation roll up instead of down? Any help would be most appreciated. Hi people, I need help as follows: On the server side I have a php generated session parameter. I need to pass it to javascript on the client side page. I saw on the web the following solution: <script language="JavaScript"> var mySessionVar="<%= Session["MySessionVar"] %>"; </script> I tried it but it did not work. I could not find any explanation of this syntax - will appreciate one. Any suggestions, maybe in another way? Thanks http://www.codingforums.com/showthread.php?t=87742 I've been using the advice and code here to start incorporating expanding/collapsing tables into my work, but I'm hitting a little problem. I want to have multiple such tables side-by-side (each headed by a picture and populated by a lightbox, which isn't the issue), but Dreamweaver wants nothing to do with the idea. I don't really even know if it's possible, but if it is I'd like to know what sort of changes I might need to make to achieve it.
Please take a look at oceangamer.com Press the login/Sign up in the header of the page. It slides down fine in IE but in mine it refuses to slide up if i click close. Every other browser, it works??? Whats the problem? Hi, First of all, please excuse my ignorance of JQuery(and coding in general) - Although I hastily grab plugins and try to use them, I really do appreciate them, and also the help you may provide me with my problem! My problem is this - I was looking for a simple and effective slideshow to use in a website I was making. SimpleSli.de(http://www.simplesli.de/) was exactly what I was looking for. It works great when it works but sometimes when I load the page it kind of doesn't work. I don't know what is going on but only approximately 50 pixels of the slideshow is visible. This happens sporadically when you refresh the page multiple times, and seems to not work more often on Google Chrome. I've eliminated every possible wrong doing in my code and tried installing firebug to help me identify the problem but for now this is beyond my understanding. JS Lint also purged errors in the code but still the same intermittent problem. I tried to contact David Drew - the creator of SimpleSli.de but he has not responded to me. On top of this I was trying to Auto Play the slideshow on load but could not get this to work. The code for it is available on the SimpleSli.de website but I tried to implement it in every possible way but it did not work. This problem is secondary and not really a proper problem so no worries if you can't help me on this one. The website in question is http://www.argsecurityscotland.co.uk/ Thank you in advance for your time and expertise, I really appreciate it. I am aware that there are common problems with this and that the fix is probably this: Code: $(function() { var zIndexNumber = 1000; $('div').each(function() { $(this).css('zIndex', zIndexNumber); zIndexNumber -= 10; }); }); However I can't figure out how to make my menu get in front of my jquery banner in ie6 and 7!! Ive been literally trying all day. Then I found that site explaining that that code would fix it. however I cannot get it to work with my site! Here is the link to my page: http://bit.ly/5fwhPP I'm not sure if just plopping that javascript before my other scripts will do it but it sounded like it from the page I found the code on. I could really use some help here I am completely jammed up and cant focus on anything else until i fix this stupid issue! Any help is therefore greatly appreciated! I am trying to make a lightbox type plugin and I am running into a problem. I hope it is something simple that I am overlooking. Here is my code: jQuery.fn.overlay = function() { $(this).click(function() { $('body').append('<div id="over"></div>'); $('#over').fadeIn(); }); }; It (almost) does what it should. It draws the #over div to the screen just fine. The problem is when I try to access it. I try something like this and get no response: $(function() { $('#over').click(function() { alert('moo'); }); }); Its like the element is not getting the ID assigned to it. Does anyone have any ideas? Thanks in advance. Hello, I have a problem with autocomplete of jQuery. Here is my code Code: $('input#recipient').autocomplete ({ source: function (request, callback) { var dataString = {username : request.username}; $.ajax({ url: url.root + 'email/', data: dataString, //cache: false, complete: function(xhr, result) { if(result != 'success') return; var response = xhr.responseText; var usernameList = []; $(response).filter('li').each (function() { usernameList.push($(this).text()); )}; callback(usernameList); } }); } }); Can you tell me what's the problem Thank you Hi, I have a problem with a fade script using jquery, in firefox etc.. all is ok. But IE the fade does not fade it just comes in & out. If any one would be kind enough to have a quick look I would appreciate it. You can see the js in the main page, not an external file. The url is www.thecityspa.co.uk Hi, JPlayer supports playlists, but it keeps the playlist in the javascript: Code: var myPlayList = [ {name:"Tempered Song",mp3:"http://www.miaowmusic.com/mp3/Miaow-01-Tempered-song.mp3"}, {name:"Hidden",mp3:"http://www.miaowmusic.com/mp3/Miaow-02-Hidden.mp3"}, {name:"Lentement",mp3:"http://www.miaowmusic.com/mp3/Miaow-03-Lentement.mp3"}, {name:"Lismore",mp3:"http://www.miaowmusic.com/mp3/Miaow-04-Lismore.mp3",ogg:"http://www.miaowmusic.com/ogg/Miaow-04-Lismore.ogg"}, {name:"The Separation",mp3:"http://www.miaowmusic.com/mp3/Miaow-05-The-separation.mp3",ogg:"http://www.miaowmusic.com/ogg/Miaow-05-The-separation.ogg"}, {name:"Beside Me",mp3:"http://www.miaowmusic.com/mp3/Miaow-06-Beside-me.mp3",ogg:"http://www.miaowmusic.com/ogg/Miaow-06-Beside-me.ogg"}, {name:"Bubble",mp3:"http://www.miaowmusic.com/mp3/Miaow-07-Bubble.mp3",ogg:"http://www.miaowmusic.com/ogg/Miaow-07-Bubble.ogg"}, {name:"Stirring of a Fool",mp3:"http://www.miaowmusic.com/mp3/Miaow-08-Stirring-of-a-fool.mp3",ogg:"http://www.miaowmusic.com/ogg/Miaow-08-Stirring-of-a-fool.ogg"}, {name:"Partir",mp3:"http://www.miaowmusic.com/mp3/Miaow-09-Partir.mp3",ogg:"http://www.miaowmusic.com/ogg/Miaow-09-Partir.ogg"}, {name:"Thin Ice",mp3:"http://www.miaowmusic.com/mp3/Miaow-10-Thin-ice.mp3",ogg:"http://www.miaowmusic.com/ogg/Miaow-10-Thin-ice.ogg"} ]; I'm trying to read in an xml file into this "myPlayList" array so that I can have an easy way of updating it, but I'm having trouble understanding this array structure. In the JPlayer code they use "myPlayList[i].name" and "myPlayList[i].mp3" in a for loop to cycle through the playlist and display the links in a list. My idea was to get rid of the "myPlayList" var declaration and dynamically populate the array variable from my xml file: Code: var xmlDoc; var myPlayList = [] if (window.XMLHttpRequest) { xmlDoc=new window.XMLHttpRequest(); xmlDoc.open("GET","playlist.xml",false); xmlDoc.send(""); xmlDoc=xmlDoc.responseXML; } // IE 5 and IE 6 else if (ActiveXObject("Microsoft.XMLDOM")) { xmlDoc=new ActiveXObject("Microsoft.XMLDOM"); xmlDoc.async=false; xmlDoc.load("playlist.xml"); } x=xmlDoc.getElementsByTagName("track"); for (i=0;i<x.length;i++) { myPlayList[i].name = x[i].childNodes[0].nodeName; myPlayList[i].mp3 = x[i].childNodes[1].nodeName; } It didn't display any songs I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong. Please help. Also, I'm guessing this has been done before (although I did a google search and couldn't find anything), so If you could point me to some resources I'd appreciate it. If there is another simpler option (over xml) I'd like to know. Thanks. Hi, could someone please take a look at my page with a jQuery gallery that refuses to work, however, it works perfectly on my local computer. View Page What is the problem, and how do I fix it? Could anyone help me Oh, just noticed there is a Jquery help section... Sorry Hi, This must be a 1st. It works ok in IE...But not in Firefox? I need to use white text over a dark bg color or if possible over an image. The problem is in FF the white text distorts on fade The black text works ok when adding the white bg. See my test code below. (It can be copied straight in to test) If anyone could please take a quick look and give some pointers. I have a <div> which has all the billing details & another <div> below it which has the shipping details. There is a checkbox in between these <div>'s which says "Same as Billing Address". It is used to populate all the shipping fields from the billing fields. Well, on this particular form there are some fields which are mandatory & which I have validated by jquery validation. I have used the $("#form_id").validate().form(); statement to check validation on the click event of the checkbox. The actual problem is that after page loads, I directly click on the checkbox & submit the page, the page gets submitted & validation does not execute. If I click the submit button with the checkbox unchecked then the validation runs properly. Why is my form not being validated if I checked the checkbox? Please guys, help me out. Thanks in advance. Bhavik. I am having trouble with a plugin not working, so I contacted the creator, and they said the below. I have no idea how to do what they want. Can anyone help me out? "Hi The Billboard Family, We just took a look at your output. It looks like you have jquery loading 3 times, which is not good. This will cause most all jQuery plugins/code to break if you load the jquery library more than once. It looks like you have it loading with your "Enhanced Search Box" and then again at the end of your head just before your "Cycle. All" script. Please be sure that the PHP method wp_head() is that LAST piece of code running before your close head tag in your header.php file as well as wp_footer() being the LAST piece of code running before your close body tag in your footer.php file. I would also recommend running WordPress' wp_enqueu_scripts() method, detailed here by Jamie: http://getsatisfaction.com/slidedeck/... Once you get those changes made and jQuery running only once please let us know if you are still having problems. Cheers! " MY SITE: http://billboardfamily.com/?page_id=4 It's functional and works, it just doesnt "fade in". Anyone know why it's not fading in? It seems to keep throwing a "tagName" error. An offered solution was to recode the JQuery into traditional JavaScript using getElementById(). I'm new to JavaScript and clueless to JQuery. I'm not exactly sure how to start. How would something like this be changeable to Javascript?
