JavaScript - Can't Remove A List Item
I'm trying to delete a item in a list. I'm getting a method not allowed error in IE8.
Code: var selectOptions = document.getElementById('id_employees_cbo'); for (var i=0; i<selectOptions.options.length; i++) { if (selectOptions.options[i].selected == true) { selectOptions.options[i].remove(); break; } } Is there another way to do this? Thanks Similar TutorialsThis is the code that I have:- Code: ListItem[1] = new Option("A List Item", "listitem1"); ListItem[1].style.display = "none"; The first line creates a new entry in the list, I am wanting the second line to remove the same item but it doesn't work. I have tried this:- Code: ListItem[1] = new Option(""); But that leaves a blank line entry in the list Cheers Daniel. I have the following code. I am trying to add an item in the unorderedlist sing javascript when. the new list item is added when the checkbox is checked. ( they have to do this 10 times for all the sillsets) what i want is : 1 - i need to show up only one record (dropdowanlist) with level then have a button to add new skill and level if required 2- then when they choose the 1st skill from the dropdown , this one will not show up on the 2nd choice dropdown. is it possible any help ? thanks guys Hi, I have a list setup with links. The list scrolls with the css setting of overflow:auto. However, when a link in the list that is scrolled down to (that is hidden unless scrolled down to) is clicked, I'd like to hold the list at that list item so that the viewer can return to the same line in the list and click the next li. Right now, the list resets to the top after a li link is clicked... I have a feeling this is something simple, but I'm guessing it would be javascript...?? The site to view - click here and then see the left side scrolling list. Thanks!! This is the code that I have, on selecting the first item in the first list it populates the second list with users. What I need to do is create a "value" for each of the items in the second list. Cheers Dan. Code: <html> <head> <title>Create Form Elements</title> <script language="javascript"> <!-- function CreateUsers() { var Primary = document.newforms.site.selectedIndex; if ((Primary == null) || (Primary == 0)) return; if (Primary == 1) { var Users = new Array; Users[0] = new Option("user1"); Users[1] = new Option("user2"); Users[2] = new Option("user3"); Users[3] = new Option("user4"); Users[4] = new Option("user5"); Users[5] = new Option("user6"); Users[6] = new Option("user7"); Users[7] = new Option("user8"); Users[8] = new Option("user9"); Users[9] = new Option("user10"); Users[10] = new Option("user11"); Users[11] = new Option("user12"); Users[12] = new Option("user13"); } for (i=document.newforms.SelectUser.options.length; i>0; i--) { document.newforms.SelectUser.options[i] = null; } for(i=0; i<Users.length; i++) { document.newforms.SelectUser.options[i] = Users[i]; } document.newforms.SelectUser.options[0].selected = true; } </script> </head> <body> <form name="newforms" ID=Form1> Choose Country: <select name="site" onChange="CreateUsers()" ID=Select1> <option value="">Choose Site</a> <option value="site1">Site1</a> <option value="site2">Site2</a> </select> <select name="SelectUser" ID=Select2> <option value="1">Choose User</option> </select> </form> </body> </html> I currently have two html select list boxes side by side on a form, two buttons in between the boxes to move items from list box to the other, and a javascript function to control the movement of the items from one box to the other. Here is the javascript: Code: function MoveSelected(from, to) { var lstFrom = $(from); var lstTo = $(to); for (var i = 0; i<lstFrom.length;i++) { if ( lstFrom[i].selected ) { var elOptNew = document.createElement('option'); elOptNew.text = lstFrom[i].text; elOptNew.value = lstFrom[i].value; try { lstTo.add(elOptNew, null); // standards compliant; doesn't work in IE } catch(ex) { lstTo.add(elOptNew); // IE only } } } for (var i = lstFrom.length-1; i>=0;i--) { if ( lstFrom[i].selected ) { lstFrom.options[i] = null; } } } Here are the two html form select list boxes (lstAvailProd is the starting list box that lists the initial data and lstSelectProd is the destination list box): Code: <td width="10%" valign="center"> <a href="javascript: MoveSelected('lstAvailProd','lstSelectProd');"><IMG SRC="buttons/right_arrow.gif" style="padding-bottom: 2px;" /></a><br /><br /> <a href="javascript: MoveSelected('lstSelectProd','lstAvailProd');"><IMG SRC="buttons/left_arrow.gif" /></a> </td> I was wondering if anyone could tell me how I could modify my code to allow for the selection of all the data in the starting list box by only selecting and moving the first item in the list to the destination list box? The first item is called "All Products", so instead of actually selecting every product in the starting list and moving them to the destination list, I would like the code to see that if the "All Products" list item is moved to the destination list, move all the other list items in the destination list back to the starting list. Here's an example of what the code for each list box looks like: Starting List Box: Code: <select name="lstAvailProd" id="lstAvailProd" multiple="true" size="8" style="width: 250px;"> <option value="-1">{All Products}</option> <option value="1">Product 1</option> <option value="2">Product 2</option> <option value="3">Product 3</option> <option value="4">Product 4</option> <option value="5">Product 5</option> </select> Destination List Box: Code: <select name="lstSelectProd" id="lstSelectProd" multiple="true" size="8" style="width: 250px;"> </select> Any help would be appreciated, thanks!! I am asking a pretty simple question, but you got to start learning somewhere, you know! Anyway, I have implemented a script that resizes images into small thumbs on the left side of a page and shows the full size image on the right when the user click on a thumb. It works well. However, I have a possible 10 thumbs on theleft and my database that feeds this does not always have 10 images. Since I re-use the page for mutiple listings, I need to find a way to disable the broken image link for listings that don't have 10 thumbs. I have attached a picture of what it looks like. Here is the script: Code: #jgal { list-style: none; width: 200px; } #jgal li { opacity: .5; float:left; display: block; height:60px; width:60px; overflow:hidden; background-position: 50% 50%; cursor: pointer; border: 3px solid #fff; outline: 1px solid #ddd; margin-right: 14px; margin-bottom: 14px; } #jgal li img { height:60px; width:auto; } #jgal li.active img { display: block; } #jgal li.active, #jgal li:hover { outline-color: #bbb; opacity: .99 /* safari bug */ } /* styling without javascript */ #gallery { list-style: none; display: block; } #gallery li { float: left; margin: 0 10px 10px 0; } </style> <!--[if lt IE 8]> <style media="screen, projection" type="text/css"> #jgal li { filter: alpha(opacity=50); } #jgal li.active, #jgal li:hover { filter: alpha(opacity=100); } </style> <![endif]--> <script type="text/javascript">document.write("<style type='text/css'> #gallery { display: none; } </style>");</script> <!--[if lt IE 6]><style media="screen, projection" type="text/css">#gallery { display: block; }</style><![endif]--> <script type="text/javascript"> var gal = { init : function() { if (!document.getElementById || !document.createElement || !document.appendChild) return false; if (document.getElementById('gallery')) document.getElementById('gallery').id = 'jgal'; var li = document.getElementById('jgal').getElementsByTagName('li'); enlargedImg = document.createElement('img'); document.getElementById('jgal').parentNode.insertBefore(enlargedImg,document.getElementById('jgal').nextSibling); enlargedImg.src = li[0].getElementsByTagName('img')[0].src; li[0].className = 'active'; for (i=0; i<li.length; i++) { li[i].style.backgroundImage = 'url(' + li[i].getElementsByTagName('img')[0].src + ')'; li[i].style.backgroundRepeat = 'no-repeat'; li[i].title = li[i].getElementsByTagName('img')[0].alt; gal.addEvent(li[i],'click',function() { var im = document.getElementById('jgal').getElementsByTagName('li'); for (j=0; j<im.length; j++) { im[j].className = ''; } this.className = 'active'; enlargedImg.src = this.getElementsByTagName('img')[0].src; }); } }, addEvent : function(obj, type, fn) { if (obj.addEventListener) { obj.addEventListener(type, fn, false); } else if (obj.attachEvent) { obj["e"+type+fn] = fn; obj[type+fn] = function() { obj["e"+type+fn]( window.event ); } obj.attachEvent("on"+type, obj[type+fn]); } } } gal.addEvent(window,'load', function() { gal.init(); }); And then my list basically looks like this: Code: <ul id="gallery"> <li><img src="images/details/<?php echo $row_WADAitems['ItemThumb5']; ?>" alt="<?php echo $row_WADAitems['ItemDesc5']; ?>"></li> <li><img src="images/details/<?php echo $row_WADAitems['ItemThumb6']; ?>" alt="<?php echo $row_WADAitems['ItemDesc6']; ?>"></li> <li><img src="images/details/<?php echo $row_WADAitems['ItemThumb7']; ?>" alt="<?php echo $row_WADAitems['ItemDesc7']; ?>"></li> <li><img src="images/details/<?php echo $row_WADAitems['ItemThumb8']; ?>" alt="<?php echo $row_WADAitems['ItemDesc8']; ?>"></li> <li><img src="images/details/<?php echo $row_WADAitems['ItemThumb9']; ?>" alt="<?php echo $row_WADAitems['ItemDesc9']; ?>"></li> <li><img src="images/details/<?php echo $row_WADAitems['ItemThumb10']; ?>" alt="<?php echo $row_WADAitems['ItemDesc10']; ?>"></li> <li><img src="images/details/<?php echo $row_WADAitems['ItemThumb11']; ?>" alt="<?php echo $row_WADAitems['ItemDesc11']; ?>"></li> <li><img src="images/details/<?php echo $row_WADAitems['ItemThumb12']; ?>" alt="<?php echo $row_WADAitems['ItemDesc12']; ?>"></li> <li><img src="images/details/<?php echo $row_WADAitems['ItemThumb13']; ?>" alt="<?php echo $row_WADAitems['ItemDesc13']; ?>"></li> <li><img src="images/details/<?php echo $row_WADAitems['ItemThumb14']; ?>" alt="<?php echo $row_WADAitems['ItemDesc14']; ?>"></li> </ul> So as you can see, if I don't have an image in the database that it pulls from, I get that icon for a broken image link. How can I remove that icon so it doesn't show the no image icon? Many thanks! Hi, I'm trying to integrate an address finder (http://www.craftyclicks.co.uk/) into my shopping cart (OsCommerce). I can get it to work but I need to add my own functionality. I'm not very experienced with JavaScript and my head has entered an infinite loop by now. The problem is that the address finder script can change the selected country in a drop-down list depending on the postcode entered by the user (using the onblur event handler). What I need it to do is to remove all other countries depending on the postcode. I can get it to remove all other countries but how do i return to the original list of countries when the postcode is changed again? Once all other counties are removed, the drop-down list will obviously only have one option left... I guess the question is also how does a function remember what it has done before, when it is called again? I have written this short test script as it is easier to work with than the craftyclicks oscommerce contribution: Code: <!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD XHTML 1.0 Transitional//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/xhtml1/DTD/xhtml1-transitional.dtd"> <html xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml"> <head> <title>HTML Template</title> <meta http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html; charset=UTF-8" /> <meta name="description" content="" /> <meta name="keywords" content="" /> <script type="text/javascript"> //<![CDATA[ function store(element) { // store values var cl = element; var text_list = new Array(); var value_list = new Array(); var length = cl.length; for (var foo=0; foo<length; foo++) { text_list[foo] = cl.options[foo].text; value_list[foo] = cl.options[foo].value; alert("text array " + foo + " " + text_list[foo]); alert("value array " + foo + " " + value_list[foo]); } populate(cl, text_list, value_list); } function populate(element, text, value) { // populate options with previously stored values var cl = element; var length = cl.length; cl.options.length=0; for (var bar=0; bar<length; bar++) { cl.options[bar]= new Option(text[bar], value[bar], false, false); } } function crafty_set_country(code) { var cl = document.getElementById('select'); store(cl); for (var i=0; i<cl.length; i++) { if (cl.options[i].value == code) { alert(cl.options[i].value + " found"); var value = cl.options[i].value; var text = cl.options[i].text; cl.options.length=0; cl.options[0]=new Option(text, value, true, true); /* for (var j=0; j<cl.length; j++) { alert("second loop " + cl.options[j].text); if (cl.options[i].value != code) { cl.options[j] } } */ } else { alert(cl.options[i].value); } } } //]]> </script> </head> <body> <form> <select id="select"> <option value="10">ten</option> <option value="20">twenty</option> <option value="30">thirty</option> <option value="40">fourty</option> <option value="50">fifty</option> <option value="60">sixty</option> </select> <input type="button" value="remove" name="button" onClick="crafty_set_country(50)"> <input type="button" value="repopulate" name="button" onClick="crafty_set_country(100)"> </form> </body> </html> Many thanks! Martin Is there a way to remove (not disable and not delete) an option in a "select" list, and restore it later when needed? I have a form with many huge lists ("select" with many "options") that depend on eachother. I am dynamically updating the form through server, and wish to update the list values by sending a mask string. This way I could remove and restore the options without the need to pass the whole list again. I tried many ways but none work: * option.diabled="disabled" is not good because it is still shown * option.style.visibility='hidden' is not good because it is still taking a row * option=null is not good because I will not be able to restore it I need a method similar to the following one for remove/add fields in a form: remove: <field>.style.display='none'; resto <field>.style.display=block'; Thank you!!! Hi all, I have been struggling on a bit of code for a while now. I need to populate a second drop down list (Region) based upon the selection of the first (County). I have found a piece of code that works on its own and have adapted to suit my needs - see below. However, when I drop it into my main page the javascript is not working. It's because of the formObject but I just don't know enough to resolve this! Furthermore, I need the textboxes the user has already completed in the form to retain their value once the javascript kicks in as the completed form will submit to a database. This piece of code is working well . . . . Code: <?php $link = mysql_connect('myhost', 'myusername', 'mypassword') or die('Could not connect: ' . mysql_error()); mysql_select_db('mydatabase') or die('Could not select database'); if(isset($_GET["County"]) && is_numeric($_GET["County"])) { $County = $_GET["County"]; } if(isset($_GET["Region"]) && is_numeric($_GET["Region"])) { $Region = $_GET["Region"]; } ?> <script language="JavaScript"> function autoSubmit() { var formObject = document.forms['theForm']; formObject.submit(); } </script> <form name="theForm" method="get"> <!-- County SELECTION BASED ON city VALUE --> <?php ?> <select name="County" onChange="autoSubmit();"> <option value=''</option> <?php //POPULATE DROP DOWN MENU WITH COUNTRIES FROM A GIVEN city $sql = "SELECT * FROM county_regions"; $counties = mysql_query($sql,$link); while($row = mysql_fetch_array($counties)) { echo ("<option value=\"$row[CountyID]\" " . Thanks in advance for your help. 09-01-10 Not sure exactly where to post this thread as it involves HTML, Javascript and embedded media players. It probably would be more appropriate here as there is much Javascript involved.... Hello, I am trying to construct a Jukebox for my website. I have spent considerable time all over the WEB and at this forum which addressed the issue in a 50 page thread. Please see: http://codingforums.com/showthread.php?t=50666 I got a lot of ideas from this thread but still cannot figure a way to do the following within the Jukebox. These are my main two questions for everything below: 1. How can I have the Jukebox cycle through all tunes and then start over from the beginning? 2. How can I allow the user to select a tune from a list but not a drop down list, have the Jukebox start from the user’s selection and then play all songs to the end. Then as in #1, start over from the beginning? Per this thread I came away with basically two ways to assemble the jukebox. One uses links in a drop down list which the user can choose from. The other is to use an .m3u playlist. The user can only select a “playlist” from the drop down. Below, I have included the code for each Jukebox. To see the Jukeboxes in action please go to my website where I have posted some test pages exhibiting the jukeboxes that I am referring to. The following is the Jukebox which utilizes an .m3u playlist. If I end up using this idea I would like the tunes in the .m3u playlist to be displayed and allow the user to be able to choose a tune in the list. Then have the list play to the end of all tunes in the list. Then start over from the beginning of the list. After this code is the .m3u playlist. Go to url removed and click on the link that says: “Media Player Using an .M3U Playlist” Jukebox utilizing an .m3u playlist: Code: <!DOCTYPE HTML PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD HTML 4.01 Transitional//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/html4/loose.dtd"> <html> <head> <meta http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html; charset=iso-8859-1"> <title>Untitled Document</title> <style type="text/css"> body { text-align:center; } </style> <script type="text/javascript"> function PlayIt(what){ player.document.getElementById('music').innerHTML='<object width="300" height="300" ' +'classid="CLSID:6BF52A52-394A-11d3-B153-00C04F79FAA6" ' +'codebase="http://activex.microsoft.com/activex/controls/mplayer/en/nsmp2inf.cab#Version=5,1,52,701" ' +'standby="Loading Microsoft Windows Media Player components..." type="application/x-oleobject">' +'<param name="url" value="'+what+'">' +'<param name="uiMode" value="full">' +'<param name="autoStart" value="true">' +'<param name="loop" value="true">' +'<embed type="application/x-mplayer2" ' +'pluginspage="http://microsoft.com/windows/mediaplayer/en/download/" ' +'showcontrols="true" uimode="full" width="300" height="45" ' +'src="'+what+'" autostart="true" loop="true">' +'</object>'; } </script> </head> <body> <div id="music"> <object width="300" height="300" classid="CLSID:6BF52A52-394A-11d3-B153-00C04F79FAA6" codebase="http://activex.microsoft.com/activex/controls/mplayer/en/nsmp2inf.cab#Version=5,1,52,701" standby="Loading Microsoft Windows Media Player components..." type="application/x-oleobject"> <param name="url" value=""> <param name="uiMode" value="full"> <param name="autoStart" value="true"> <param name="loop" value="true"> <embed type="application/x-mplayer2" pluginspage="http://microsoft.com/windows/mediaplayer/en/download/" showcontrols="true" uimode="full" width="300" height="45" src="" autostart="true" loop="true"> </object> </div> <br> <br> <select name="player" onchange="PlayIt(this.value)"> <option value="none">::Choose a Song::</option> <option value="JukeboxList.m3u">Jukebox List</option> </select><br> </html> Here is the .m3u playlist for the above code: Code: #EXTM3U #EXTINF:Bill Evans - G Waltz media/G Waltz.mp3 #EXTINF:Dan Pincus - In Your Time media/In Your Time.mp3 The following code is for the Jukebox that has a list of links in a dropdown list. If I go with this idea, I would like for the list not to be a dropdown list but just a list of tunes. The user should be able to click on any tune in the list and the player should start from that point, play all the remaining tunes in the list and then start from the beginning. The good thing about it is that it lists all the tunes in the playlist which the user can then select from. This jukebox calls up an entire Windows Media Player. If I was to use this idea I would like to be able to disable the left side of the player where the user has options such as burning to CD, Media Guide, Radio Tuner etc… Go to url removed and click on the link that says: “Media Player Within an IFrame Using .m3u Playlist”” Code: <!DOCTYPE HTML PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD HTML 4.01 Transitional//EN"> <html> <head> <meta http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html; charset=ISO-8859-1"> <title>JukeBox</title> <meta http-equiv="pragma" content="no-cache"> <meta http-equiv="Expires" content="-1"> </head> <body> <IFRAME name="frame" src="JukeboxList.m3u" width="100%" height="347" scrolling="no" frameborder="0"> [Your user agent does not support frames or is currently configured not to display frames.] </IFRAME> </body> </html> Thanks! Dan I would like to make an ordered list, for example: 1. Airplane 2. Boat 3. Car I'd like one of the words to be displayed on my webpage, for example: Boat Then I'd want an up button, and a down button. The up button would display Airplane instead of Boat, and the down button would display Car instead of Boat. Once it got to Car, the same up button would change it back to boat. How do I do this? Thanks. Hello everyone. This a css code in <head>: Code: .pagination{ width: 530px; /*Width of pagination DIV. Someting like highlighting the navigational item that you're on. Thank you very much in advance! hai friends <script type="text/javascript"> function myfunction(x) { var xname = x.name; alert("gender - " +xname); } </script> </head> <body> <form action="index.php" method="post" name="frm2" id="frm2"> <input type="checkbox" name="male" onclick="myfunction(this)" /> male <input type="checkbox" name="female" onclick="myfunction(this)" /> female </form> when i use this code only check box which is selected will alerts me . i want all checkboxes names which are selected as alert plz help me This function is part of a page that will delete a product that a customer has selected. The question I have is what is the line line that actually removes the item from the list of products chosen? From my understanding, in order to establish an array, new array = elements[i] has to be added but Im thinking that elements[i] is the array that holds the product. Does the "0" in this line actually delete the item? document.template.elements[i].value = 0 ; Code: function del_item(X,msg) { // var msg = "Are you sure you want to delete this line item?" resp = confirm("Are you sure you want to " + msg + "?") ; if (resp) { var len = document.template.elements.length //loop to put into arrays for (var i = 0; i < len; i++) { var lname = document.template.elements[i].name ; if(lname == X) { document.template.elements[i].value = 0 ; process_order(0) ; document.template.loginpath.value = "CO" ; document.template.submit() ; } } } else { return ; } } Hi Ive got my menu displayed on this site http://valkesh.000space.com. The issue I am having is that I want the hover image (red part) to be displayed only when hovering the root li, and not all subsequent li items in the menu.. because as you may see now, even when hovering the li in the submenu the red gets displayed. The code I am using is the following Code: <script type="text/javascript"> $(document).ready(function () { $('#smoothmenu1 li').append('<div class="hover"></div>'); $('#smoothmenu1 li').hover( function() { $(this).children('div').fadeIn('500'); }, function() { $(this).children('div').fadeOut('500'); }).click (function () { $(this).addClass('selected'); }); }); </script> and Code: <div id="smoothmenu1" class="menu"> <ul> <li><a href="#">Page 1</a></li> <li><a href="#">Page 2</a> <ul> <li><a href="#">2.1</a> <ul> <li><a href="#">2.1.1</a></li> </ul> </li> <li><a href="#">2.2</a></li> <li><a href="#">2.3</a></li> </ul> </li> <li><a href="#">Page 3</a> <ul> <li><a href="#">3.1</a></li> <li><a href="#">3.2</a></li> <li><a href="#">3.3</a></li> </ul> </li> <li><a href="#">Page 4</a></li> </ul> </div> Is there a way to specify in the javascript functionality where to append the div to only the root li item? Thanks i have tried searching the forums for help but really am getting no where. i am trying to call an array item from an input box. the input is all numbers. the arrays are v + numbers. i cannot seem to figure out how to get the item from the array. eg Code: var v00501 = ["HOLTSVILLE,I R S SERVICE CENTER","NY","631","-5","Y"] var v00544 = ["HOLTSVILLE,IRS SERVICE CENTER","NY","631","-5","Y"] var v00601 = ["ADJUNTAS,JARD DE ADJUNTAS,URB SAN JOAQUIN","PR","787/939","-4","N"] function pop() { var zipv = "v" + myform.Zip.value +"[0]"; alert(zipv); } or Code: function pop() { alert(pop1()); } function pop1() { return "v" + myform.Zip.value +"[0]"; } so for this if the user typed in 00501 i get v00501[0] no matter what i try. i want HOLTSVILLE,I R S SERVICE CENTER to be returned or whatever item i am calling for. this all has to be on client side as i dont have server access so the zip codes are all set up as arrays in a seperate file. i really dont know alot about javascript but i am learning. any help on how i can accomplish this would be appreciated. Hi Guys, i have two different arrays with the same number of element. The 1st array holds the ID's and the 2nd one holds the Items.. i want to use both of them in a Jquery autocomplete plugin.. showing the the 2nd one values but getting the value of the 1st arr. I was wondering if there is a way to combine both in one in Javascript like Arr3 =[arr1, arr2] where i display arr2 elemnt and pass arr1 elements? thanks Hi Guys, I'm using jcarousellite to show my newsitems in a vertical carousel. http://www.gmarwaha.com/jquery/jcarousellite/ The carousel itself works perfectly, now I'm trying to add that before the news scrolls upwards the top news-item fades-out first. Now it is fading out the complete list and I simply can't seem to figure out how to 'talk' to the 'active/top' <li> in the list. Can someone give me a hint? Thanks in advance, Marcel -- Code Below -- Code: $(function() { $(".widgetCarousel").jCarouselLite({ circular: true, vertical: true, visible: 3, scroll: 1, start: 1, auto: 500, speed: 1000, beforeStart: function(a) { $(a).parent().fadeTo(100, 0); }, afterEnd: function(a) { $(a).parent().fadeTo(100, 1); } }); }); <div class="widgetCarousel"> <ul> <li>My very own news item</li> <li>My very own news item</li> <li>My very own news item</li> <li>My very own news item</li> <li>My very own news item</li> <li>My very own news item</li> </ul> </div> |
