JavaScript - Submit Form Multiple Times
Hey everyone,
I'm having a problem with a project i'm working on. We have a webpage setup to alpha page individual people with pagers at work. It is a simple form that submits to a php file on the pager server. I am working on creating a script that submits a alpha-page to everyone at once. There are about 120 different ppl in the company, I want the script to submit the form once for each persons pager. I'm new to javascript but have alittle programming understanding. This is what i have so far: Code: <html> <head> <title>Send a Page</title> </head> <body> <center> <form action="http://sendpage/pager/PageSend.php" method="POST"> <input type="hidden" name="ContactPagerNumberId[]" value="120"> <input type="hidden" name="PagemessageId" value="What are you doing?"> <input type="hidden" name="ScheduledDeliverydateId" value="2011-08-22"> <input type="hidden" name="ScheduledDeliveryTimeId" value="19:30:00"> <input type="hidden" name=ScheduledDeliveryAmPmId" value="selected"> <button style="width:140px; height:30px" type="submit" name="SEND">Submit</button> </form> </body> </html> The ContactPagerNumberId[] is the arbitrary value set to individual ppl's pagers. I'm not sure where to place the javascript code at. It doesn't seem as hard as I'm making it out to be. Any suggestions? Similar TutorialsHello all, I need my form to submit to two sources, zoho crm and broker office. One is used to create a contact list and the other is an insurance quote engine. Problem one. How can I use javascript to force my form to submit data to both sites? The bigger problem is they use different names for the same field. In other words one wants to recieve a vaule as first_name and the other wants it as firstName. Thanks in advance. hi there, I'm looking for a method to use several hyperlinks to submit a form and then return the page within the link for example Code: <a href="thispage.php?mode=1" Onclick="javascript:form.submit();"> <a href="thispage.php?mode=2" Onclick="javascript:form.submit();"> the reason for this is so that no matter which link a user navigates to the form will be submitted and no data lost. however the above code obviously loses the POST info as the form action will be different from the a tag. Therefore I think maybe a way of creating a variable that changes the form action to match the a link selected (as the form(s) are submitted to the same php page. hope someone can think clearer than me! cheers Hey guys. I need little bit of help which i know it will be piece of cake for you. In emp_rota.php , i want the user to select multiple dates (through a calendar) which will be fetched in the php in the next page. everything works except that the calendar script works only on DATE1, when user clicks to add another date then though everything works , except the calendar doesnt come up. help MEE !! P.s. i am attaching the whole script along with this http://www.mediafire.com/?ayz7mpiauba4dya First off I didn't know whether to post this here or in the PHP section since it deals with both, but mostly JS. I have a PHP scraper that scrapes the job title, company name and location from a website and stores them in separate arrays. These values are then extracted out one at a time from the array and stored into a string, that is then passed to a Google Maps API. I can make this successfully happen once, the thing is I need to do it multiple times. I have an idea on what I should do but don't really know how to implement it (correctly). The idea I had was to create a function in the JavaScript section that accepts three values from PHP. This function would be called in my PHP for loop that extracts the values from the array into a string. The thing that confuses me is that the Map function is called via <body onLoad="initialize()">. Here's the link to my code Hi there! I need help! Basically, I need to create a sentence and on one of the words the person accessing the site can click the word and it will change to another word and then again to a third word and so on for 5 words then it will, on click, return to the 1st word again. like a circle of various words. I've managed to get it to work with 2 words back and forth - but I need it to have multiple states. I need the JS and how to impliment it in the HTML. JS isnt my strong point just yet Please help me! Thanks so so much! follow me on twitter - @robyn_90 Hi i am using the following code to load a part of page dynamically using jquery Code: loadNextBackInPage_URL = null; function callBackFunctionLoadNextBackInPage(data) { //alert(data); $("#left").fadeTo(100,1); var data = $(data).find( '#left' ); $("#left").html(data); if(supports_history_api()) { history.pushState(null, null, loadNextBackInPage_URL); window.addEventListener("popstate", function(e) { alert('s'); loadNextBackInPage(location.pathname); }); } else { } } function loadNextBackInPage(url, parm) { //alert(url); loadNextBackInPage_URL = url; $("#left").fadeTo(100,.2); $.post(url, parm, callBackFunctionLoadNextBackInPage,'html'); } The loading part and even changing the browser URL is working. but why is the PoP state function being fired multiple times? I call loadNextBackInPage() originally through an onclick function. The following code works find in firefox and chrome. In IE, it only works the first time I click on a link. Any ideas? Thanks in advance, // I have some div's where help is, which I make non-viewable <div id='help_guides'> <div id='issue1'>Help with issue 1</div> <div id='issue2'>Help with issue 2</div> </div> <a href="#" id="issue_1_link">Help with issue #1</a> <a href="#" id="issue_2_link">Help with issue #2</a> <div id='help'></div> // I grab the help guide div into a variable var issue_1_help = $('issue_1').remove(); var issue_2_help = $('issue_2').remove(); // When the help link is clicked, the help DIV displays the help guide Event.observe( $('issue_1_link'), 'click', function() { $('help').update( issue_1_help ); }); Event.observe( $('issue_2_link'), 'click', function() { $('help').update( issue_2_help ); }); I found this code sample that when a user clicks somewhere on the image, then an "X" will appear. I would like to have the "X"s remain visible even when the user clicks on a different area of the image. As you can imagine, a user clicks clicks clicks then there are "X"s everywhere. I'm struggling with some javascript problems. I want to submit a hidden field when you click on an image button, rather than it being an actual submit button. It's going to submit the value "1" to a PHP page, but I don't want it to actually have to GO to the PHP page, just submit it within the webpage. Is this possible? Thanks Is it possible to submit multiple links all at the same time using Javascript? I check all over the web and can't find any examples anywhere. I would like to click on a button and submit to google, yahoo, msn, etc all at the same time. Like someone physically click on http://google.com, http://yahoo.com, http://msn.com, so on. I've literally tried everything. Read 26 tutorials, interchanged code, etc. My validation functions all work. My AJAX functions work (tested manually using servlet URL's). The second servlet validates the reCaptcha form that's generated on my webpage. After the form is validated, even if everything's correct, nothing happens upon clicking submit. I even have an alert pop up if with the captcha result, just for middle-layer debugging purposes. I want to do all of my validation clientside; none serverside. However, going to be tough if I can't get my god damn form to submit. I've been puzzled by this for close to 36 hours straight. I can't see, and I'm going to get some rest and hope that there is some useful insight on my problem when I return. html form: Code: <form id="f1" name="form1" onsubmit="validate_form(this); return false;" action="register" method="post"> <table cellspacing="5" style="border: 2px solid black;"> <tr> <td valign="top"> <table cellspacing="5"> <tr> <td>*First name</td> <td align="right"><span id="valid_one"></span></td> <td><input type="text" style="width: 320px;" id="fn" name="fn" onBlur="validate_one();"></td> </tr> <tr> <td align="left">*Last name</td> <td align="right"><span id="valid_two"></span></td> <td><input type="text" style="width: 320px;" id="ln" name="ln" onBlur="validate_two();"></td> </tr> <tr> <td align="left">*Email address</td> <td align="right"><span id="result"></span></td> <td><input type="text" style="width: 320px;" id="mailfield" name="email" onBlur="startRequest();"></td> </tr> <tr> <td align="left">*Phone number</td> <td align="right"><span id="valid_three"></span></td> <td><input type="text" style="width: 320px;" id="pn" name="pn" onBlur="validate_three();"></td> </tr> <tr> <td align="left">*City/Town</td> <td align="right"><span id="valid_four"></span></td> <td><input type="text" style="width: 320px;" id="c" name="c" onBlur="validate_four();"></td> </tr> <tr> <td></td> <td></td> <td> <select name="s"> <option value="AL">Alabama <option value="AK">Alaska <option value="AZ">Arizona <option value="AR">Arkansas <option value="CA">California <option value="CO">Colorado <option value="CT">Connecticut <option value="DE">Delaware <option value="FL">Florida <option value="GA">Georgia <option value="HI">Hawaii <option value="ID">Idaho <option value="IL">Illinois <option value="IN">Indiana <option value="IA">Iowa <option value="KS">Kansas <option value="KY">Kentucky <option value="LA">Louisiana <option value="ME">Maine <option value="MD">Maryland <option value="MA">Massachusetts <option value="MI">Michigan <option value="MN">Minnesota <option value="MS">Mississippi <option value="MO">Missouri <option value="MT">Montana <option value="NE">Nebraska <option value="NV">Nevada <option value="NH">New Hampshire <option value="NJ">New Jersey <option value="NM">New Mexico <option value="NY">New York <option value="MC">North Carolina <option value="ND">North Dakota <option value="OH">Ohio <option value="OK">Oklahoma <option value="OR">Oregon <option value="PA">Pennsylvania <option value="RI">Rhode Island <option value="SC">South Carolina <option value="SD">South Dakota <option value="TN">Tennessee <option value="TX">Texas <option value="UT">Utah <option value="VT">Vermont <option value="VA">Virginia <option value="WA">Washington <option value="WV">West Virginia <option value="WI">Wisconsin <option value="WY">Wyoming </select> </td> </tr> <tr> <td> <br> </td> </tr> <tr> <td></td> <td></td> <td><span id="error"></span></td> </tr> <tr> <td valign="top">*Anti-Spam Verification</td> <td></td> <td id="reCaptcha"></td> </tr> </table> </td> <td valign="top"> <table cellspacing="5"> <tr> <td align="left">*Affiliation</td> <td align="right"><span id="valid_five"></span></td> <td><input type="text" style="width: 320px;" id="affl" name="affl" onBlur="validate_five();"></td> </tr> <tr> <td align="left">*Research Area:</td> <td align="right"><span id="valid_six"></span></td> <td><input type="text" style="width: 320px;" id="ra" name="ra" onBlur="validate_six();"></td> </tr> <tr> <td valign="top" align="left">*Research Overview</td> <td align="right"><span id="valid_seven"></span></td> <td><textarea cols="38" rows="6" id="ro" name="ro" onKeyDown="limitText(this.form.ro,this.form.countdown,500)" onKeyUp="limitText(this.form.ro,this.form.countdown,500)" onBlur="validate_seven();"></textarea></td> </tr> <tr> <td></td> <td></td> <td><font size="1">You have <input readonly type="text" name="countdown" size="1" value="500"> characters remaining.</font></td> </tr> <tr> <td align="left">*Talk Availability</td> <td></td> <td> <input type="radio" name="ta" value="In person">In person <input type="radio" name="ta" value="Online">Online <input type="radio" name="ta" value="Both" checked>Both </td> </tr> <tr> <td align="left" valign="top">Links</td> <td></td> <td> <table id="linkTable" border="0"> <td><input type="text" style="width: 320px;" name="link"></td> <td><div id="result"></div></td> </table> </td> <td align="left" valign="top"><input type="button" value="Add Link" onclick="addLink('linkTable')"></td> </tr> <tr> <td></td> <td><span style="color: red;"></span></td> </tr> </table> </td> </tr> </table> <br /> <input type="submit" id="submit" name="submit" value="Submit Form"> </form> Javascript file: Code: /* * script.js - ajax and table functions */ var xmlHttp; I'm modifying some old code and am not JS programmer (I'm a PHP programmer) and this is driving me nuts. The existing code makes sure that when the form is submitted that there isn't a missing value. There's also some hidden input values. The JS starts out function checkform(orderform) and the form tag includes onsubmit="return checkform(this);"> I can add an alert to the form to see varius input values, such as a hidden value for the input name 'description' I can use: alert (orderform.description.value) Eazy peazy. However the form has two different input type=image buttons now and I need to do some branching in the JS depending on which image button they press. I recall IE had an issue where it only sends the x and y coordinates So I figure an easy to determine which image button was pressed is just check to see if the x or y value for each button is non-zero. But I can't for the life of me figure out how to access the value. Example: alert (orderform.button1.x.value) doesn't work. Can someone refresh my memory or suggest an entirely different method for detecting which image button was used to submit a form? THanks in advance! This, as you can see calls functions held in an included file onkeyup. This all works well, also the username check ajax call works great. However I have 2 questions that I need to sort before this will work correctly. 1. Using M_USERNAME form as an example. If I start typing in there it will begin validating, which is great, However, if i typed in "matt_thomas" based on the validations, Empty:Pass, ValidChars:Fail, Range:Pass, Check:Pass. So I know that it isn't empty, it's the correct length and it's not already in the DB. But it fails because of the "_". This should mean that I receive the error i have setup for that failure. But I don't. Because I don't stop on a Fail, I receive the success message of the last function. So my question is; How Can I stop running any more functions when one fails? 2. Looking at the above code, How can I make sure that a submit will only work when ALL fields validate correctly? Is this possible? I'm sure it is, but Can't see the woods for the trees right now Thanks for any advice you can give. Even if you can just suggest something to look for. Also sorry in advance but I don't understand alot of "tech" jargon lol, so please keep it simple. I hope someone can help with this. I needed a form for my website and found one i liked so used there code, however i cannot get mine to work properly, i believe the problem exists here, however not sure what to do with it: <form action="contact.htm" method="post" name="contactForm" onsubmit="return validateForm()" > <p><strong>Contact information: </strong></p> <input type=hidden name="httpref" value="http://www.karenshealthandfitness.com/contact.htm"> also do i need a php file with this or something along those lines? 'here is your COOKIEVALUE product' what i was going to try here was "here is your" + COOKIEVALUE + "product" which doesn't work - but that's what I'm trying to achieve. 2) 2nd problem is the submit 'button' needs to be an automatic 'invisible' action - i don't actually want to give them a button to click i just want to submit it from the coding. Hope that makes some kind of sense! Hi there, Our development team created a page using JS to submit a form. It works fine in IE6... but not in IE8 nor FF3. They can't seem to detect why, so I'm posting this in the hopes that someone will be able to let me know... so that I can tell them. Man! Here is the code that they use: Code: function doSubmit() { var form = document.RegistrationForm; form.actionType.value = "userInfo"; form.action = "/fdl/benefitsmanager/registration/UserInfoSubmit.do"; var prefix = document.getElementById('userInfo.prefix')[document.getElementById('userInfo.prefix').selectedIndex].text; var suffix = document.getElementById('userInfo.suffix')[document.getElementById('userInfo.suffix').selectedIndex].text; document.getElementById('userInfo.prefixString').value = prefix; document.getElementById('userInfo.suffixString').value = suffix; form.submit(); } It's called by clicking the below image: Code: <a href="javascript:doSubmit();"><img src="../images/buttons/submit.gif" alt="Submit" width="108" height="23" border="0"></a> The above code works fine in IE6 and lets the user submit the form. However, in FF3 nothing happens when the image is clicked and I get the following error using Firebug: document.getElementById("userInfo.prefix") is null var prefix = document.getElementById(...rInfo.prefix').selectedIndex].text; And in IE8 nothing happens when the image is clicked and it just tells me that there is an error. I don't have access to the code, so I can't play around with manipulating the JS. Darn! However, can anyone see what might be causing the error in modern browsers? I'm a bit surprised it's IE8 and FF3 that are having issues... as IE6 is normally the least forgiving browser. Thanks so much, CO I would like an image to be the button for a form to be submitted, but a sound is to play onclick for 3 seconds before the submit happens. It sounds easy, with a setTimeout delay, but I can't get it to wait: Code: <script type="text/javascript"> function delay(){ mySoundObj1.TGotoAndPlay('/piano','start'); setTimeout('delay2()',3000) // piano sound lasts for 3 seconds } </script> <script type="text/javascript"> function delay2(){ // nothing here I guess... } </script> <FORM METHOD="POST" ACTION="do something"> <INPUT type="image" onsubmit="delay();return true;" src="image/image.gif" width="60" height="60" type="submit"> </form> Can anyone do this? I mean maybe it is not possible? |
