JavaScript - Popup Onclick Doesn't Launch Anything
Please delete thread, I went with a JQuery-based solution instead.
Similar TutorialsI have a video on a page, which on a pc or mac, will play inside a standard flash player. On the iphone, I have setup javascript to detect iphone / ipod, and replace the flash player with an embedded m4v file: Code: if((navigator.userAgent.match(/iPhone/i)) || (navigator.userAgent.match(/iPod/i))) { $('div#vid').empty(''); $('div#vid').html('<div ontouchstart="incrementHitcount()"><embed src="http://www.gridcity.co.nz/uploaded/images/'+cid+'_bg.jpg" href="http://www.gridcity.co.nz/uploaded/videos/'+cid+'.m4v" type="video/x-m4v" rel="nofollow" target="myself" width="'+vidwidth+'" height="'+vidheight+'" scale="1" id="iphone"></embed><div>'); } So far so good. I also want to trigger a simple onclick which makes an ajax call a remote PHP file. I have tried ontouchstart instead (see above code) but still no luck. If I add the onclick to a static image rather than an embed instance, it works fine. But with the embedded video, it's as if the video blocks the onclick event for javascript to pickup. Does anyone know a way around this? This script is activated with a onclick event in a link, the box appears and disappears, the problem is I have two links, I would like to disable Box 1 If I click Box 2 and viceversa. Any help??? Code: <script language="javascript"> var state = 'hidden'; function showhide(layer_ref) { if (state == 'visible') { state = 'hidden'; } else { state = 'visible'; } if (document.all) { //IS IE 4 or 5 (or 6 beta) eval( "document.all." + layer_ref + ".style.visibility = state"); } if (document.layers) { //IS NETSCAPE 4 or below document.layers[layer_ref].visibility = state; } if (document.getElementById && !document.all) { maxwell_smart = document.getElementById(layer_ref); maxwell_smart.style.visibility = state; } } //--> </script> <!-- HIDDEN BOX 1 TO BE SHOWN ONCLICK --> <div id="box_1" style="position:absolute; top:85px; left:12px; visibility:hidden; width:510px; background-color:#BCD2E1; padding-left:4px; padding-right:4px; padding-bottom:4px;"> BOX 1 </div> <!-- END - HIDDEN 1 BOX TO BE SHOWN ONCLICK --> <!-- HIDDEN BOX 2 TO BE SHOWN ONCLICK --> <div id="box_2" style="position:absolute; top:85px; left:12px; visibility:hidden; width:510px; background-color:#BCD2E1; padding-left:4px; padding-right:4px; padding-bottom:4px;"> BOX 2 </div> <!-- END - HIDDEN BOX 2 TO BE SHOWN ONCLICK --> <a href="javascript://" onclick="showhide('box_1');">BOX 1</a> | <a href="javascript://" onclick="showhide('box_2');">BOX 2</a> I have created a Blackjack program. I have noticed that clicking on the vertical part of the 'D' on the "Deal" button doesn't always fire the onclick event. I use JS to change the div's style when clicking on it to give the appearance of a normal button. Here's the link: http://www.myfsjournal.com/blackjack/index.php username: test password: test Here's relevant code: HTML: Code: <div id="dealButton" style="position:relative;float:left;width:100%;z-index:10;"> <div id="deal" title="Deal" style="cursor:pointer;background:#CCC;padding:3px;width:75px;height:auto;border-top:1px solid;border-left:1px solid;border-bottom:3px solid;border-right:3px solid;" onclick="window.location = 'index.php?a=deal'" onmousedown="javascript:buttonDown('deal');" onmouseup="javascript:buttonUp('deal');" onmouseout="javascript:buttonUp('deal');"> Deal </div> </div> And my JS code: Code: function buttonDown(id) { document.getElementById(id).style.borderBottom = "1px solid"; document.getElementById(id).style.borderRight = "1px solid"; document.getElementById(id).style.borderTop = "3px solid"; document.getElementById(id).style.borderLeft = "3px solid"; } function buttonUp(id) { document.getElementById(id).style.borderBottom = "3px solid"; document.getElementById(id).style.borderRight = "3px solid"; document.getElementById(id).style.borderTop = "1px solid"; document.getElementById(id).style.borderLeft = "1px solid"; } Hi I have created a page using tables and found abit of javascript off the net where I could get a little soundbite to play when an image is clicked. It worked fine. However I have now converted the page into CSS and even with using the same code the sound no longer plays. Can anyone share any light on this please?? here is a snippet of my page code that shows the javascript. Code: <title>Joho-Designs-Home</title> <link rel="stylesheet" type="text/css" href="johogallery.css" /> <script language="javascript" type="text/javascript"> function playSound(soundfile) { document.getElementById("dummy").innerHTML= "<embed src=\""+soundfile+"\" hidden=\"true\" autostart=\"true\" loop=\"false\" />"; } </script> <li><embed name="mySound" src="sounds/SQUEAK3.wav" loop=false autostart=false hidden= true><a href="#" onclick="playSound('sounds/SQUEAK3.wav');"><img src="menu/row3sq3_squeak_OP.png" border="0" alt="1"/></a></li> Thanks and look forward to replies!! I have looked at the various posts about setting onclick in IE and I cannot see any that exactly describe the problem I am having. Firstly I am not trying to set onclick by calling setAttribute, which most of the posts describe. I am simply assigning a value to the onclick attribute of the element, which those posts seem to imply. Specifically I am getting "Object doesn't support this action" on the following line: Code: editButton.onclick = editCitation; editCitation is already a function, so I do not see why I should have to wrap it in an anonymous function wrapper to get IE to permit the assignment. Hi, I have a website with several pages. Each page having the same menu. I need one of this menu item's text to vary according to each of my customers, where the customer id will be passed from an external link at launch time. I also need to change the menu item link <a href.../a> dynamically. I'm planning to create a redir.html pacge for each client and within that page, I can insert a url with parameters to launch the main page. Any clue more than welcome! If I want to launch an application in DOS it is START notepad.exe How do I launch the application in Javascript? thanks Hello Everybody, As all coders have no time I will bring it up directly. 1- We are launching a new website at a small ceremony. 2- The website will have initial page that has a button says "Launch Me". 3- When the official presses the Launch Me button we need it to rename the index file with the official page for the full website we created. We thought about coding a batch file that will have the FTP details and commands to rename the index file with the Official page, but the problem here is that we don't know how to create such a button that will execute the .bat file on the server side. All what we need is a button or any way that will rename the index file with the official one by pressing a button. Any tips people? Thanks in-advance. I am trying to post a new radio station website which is launching on July 4th.. the template I am using has a JS file and it is foreign to me. http://www.sendspace.com/file/7qd8vd there is the file. Any help would be wonderful. If you figure it out, feel free to send the file to eric@vipradiochico.com. I tried posting the JS file on here but I had to upload it to sendspace. Thanks! I see in a book how to use javascript functions from radio buttons to display text into a form textbox, but what I want to do is instead of display text into a textbox, to display images positioned by CSS. My code is below. All I get is the initial display of radio buttons, the chosen one chosen, and that's it. No display of images. I tried even just using text and no. Here's my code: Code: <?xml version="1.0"?> <!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD Xhtml 1.0 Transitional//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/xhtml1/DTD/xhtml1-transitional.dtd"> <html xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml" xml:lang="en" lang="en"> <head> <style type="text/css"> pos1 {position: absolute; top: 300px; left: 150px; right:900px; background-color: grey;} pos2 {position: absolute; top: 300px; left: 200px; right:900px; background-color: grey;} </style> <script language="javascript" type="text/javascript"> function One(){ with(document) { write("<pos1>(testtext)<img id="1" src="image.gif"></pos1>"); } function Two(){document.write("<pos1><img id="1" src="image.gif"></pos1><pos2><img id="2" src="image.gif"></pos2>");} </script> </head> <body> <form name="form1" action="action"> 1 <input type="radio" name="quantSubjects" onclick="One()" /> 2 <input type="radio" name="quantSubjects" onclick="Two()" /> </form> </body> </html> Hi, I'm kinda hoping this is possible but haven't found any reference to it... I have a parent page that opens a popup on click that launches a sidebar navigation on the right of the screen and resizes the parent page. What I am wanting to do is create a second popup (approx 250px high) that opens below the navigation (which is only around 600px high) but I have noticed that even when you have no status bar in the popup windows, they can still end up overlapping because of additional tools or plugins that the viewer has in their browser. Is there any way to get the popups to butt up against each other instead of overlapping? More like a relative popup? Any assistance would be appreciated. :-) I'm currently working on a project and I am doing a bunch of image switching. I'm having a problem with the following... I have seven medium image objects and one small one. One is at the top and the other 7 are below. When one of the 7 is clicked, it then becomes the one up top and the one up top then takes the place of the image clicked. This needs to be able to happen no matter which of the seven i click. Also when you click one of the seven it runs a script to change 9 other images in the center of the page. this isnt too important because i have it working already. What i have is, each of the seven images run their function that changes the 9 center images and then it runs another function. What i need is for that function to determine which company for example(shaws, lowes, target) the top image belongs to and replace the image that was clicked with the top one. But i also need to replace the NAME="" and ONCLICK="function()" with the proper ones for the original company up top. Please if you can understand what im trying to do let me know, if you need further clarification i can do so. i can draw a picture of what im trying to do or the layout if needed but i cant necessarily show anyone the project due to a non-disclosure. Is it possible disable an onclick after clicking it and then enable it from another onclick by id Code: <img id="one" href="images/homepage/sliders/bonus_button.jpg" style="position:relative; top:30px; left:50px; height:30px; width:70px; float:left;"> This code runs when it is clicked: Code: $("#one").click(function() { runEffectB(); return false; }); What I would like to happen is for either runEffectB() to not run if it was just run or to disable the #one.click once it has run. I am assuming I will be able to re-enable it from another onclick running a similar function. This is jquery and jquery ui if that helps. Any ideas much appreciated. I found this popup window, and it works for my project, now i would like to include a close option to the popup window. Either "close", a button, or click aywhere. Here is the coding I am currently using: <script type="text/javascript"> function openWin(image, w, h){ var wh='width='+w+',height='+h var tmpPage=window.open('','',wh) tmpPage.document.write('<body style="margin:0;padding:0;"><img src="'+image+'" width="'+w+'" height="'+h+'">') tmpPage.document.close() } </script> <a href="1379_files/image296.jpg" target="_blank" onclick="openWin(this.href, 1253, 940);return false;"><img src="1379_files/image296.jpg" width="348" height="261" border="0"></a> <a href="1379_files/image298.jpg" target="_blank" onclick="openWin(this.href, 1253, 940);return false;"><img src="1379_files/image298.jpg" width="348" height="261" border="0"></a> <p> <a href="1379_files/image300.jpg" target="_blank" onclick="openWin(this.href, 1253, 940);return false;"><img src="1379_files/image300.jpg" width="348" height="261" border="0"></a> This opens 3 pictures, that when clicked opens the popup of the same picture, only full screen. Is there a way to make a popup appear behind the current window?
Hey everyone, I have a javascript problem which I think can be resolved by adding a few lines of code. I will try to explain my situation: Code: <img title='gameplay0001' class='popuplink' src="img/visual/gameplay/visual-gameplay-10.png"/>\ <span class='popup'> <span>gameplay0001</span> <img src="img/visual/gameplay/visual-gameplay-10_large.png" /> <div class='clear'></div> <div class='popupclosebtn'>back</div> </span> this javascript I wrote, allows me to do this: 1) I click on the element with class .popuplink 2) The span with the class popup that contains a span whose text equals the title of popuplink (in this case gameplay0001) appears 3) when I click popupclosebtn the popup closes this is all done by the next javascript: Code: $('.popuplink').each(function() { $(this).click(function() { var source = $(this).attr('title'); var popupContent = $(".popup:contains('" + source + "')"); var popupContainer = $("#popcontainerbase"); popupContainer.html(''); popupContainer.html(popupContent.html()); $("#popcontainerbase").fadeIn(200, function() { $('.popupclosebtn').click(function() { var popupContainer = $("#popcontainerbase"); popupContainer.html(''); $('#popcontainerbase').fadeOut(200, function() { }); }); $(document).keyup(function(e) { if (e.keyCode == 27) { var popupContainer = $("#popcontainerbase"); popupContainer.html(''); $('#popcontainerbase').fadeOut(200, function() { }); } }); }); }); }); Oh by the way, I put all the .popup content in a div called #popupcontainer, so my content won't affect my relative container div. So, this works perfect, text and images can be placed in the span .popup; no proplems. Additionally, I also have a jwplayer in my website. This works fine as well. With one exception: When I try to put a jwplayer video into a .popup window, IE fails to put the video in there. it just ignores it. My video popup page: Code: <img title='trailer01' class='popuplink' src="img/visual/trailer01.png"/> <span class='popup'> <span>trailer01</span> <div id="trailer01"> </div> <div class='clear'></div> <div class='popupclosebtn'>back</div> </span> The javascript source on the bottom of the page: Code: jwplayer("trailer01").setup({ controlbar:"over", "controlbar.idlehide": false, controlbar:"bottom", autostart: true, flashplayer: "jwplayer/player.swf", skin: "jwplayer/skins/glow.zip", wmode: "transparent", file: "video/trailer01.mp4", width: 490, height: 340 }); so, that is my situation. This script will not work in internet explorer. Can anyone tell me how to fix this? thanx in forward Hi All How popup windows are made using Javascript? I am not talking about the popups cretaed using window.open. I am talking about the window which appears to display some advertisements in most of the sites. Charles Hello all! I wanted to say hey as this is my first post! I will probably stick around for a little, but I need help first. I'm trying to make a code for something on a forum. It will prompt the user for a yes or cancel, then save a cookie with their answer. Then the next time the script is called, it will check for the cookie. If there is one saved, it won't prompt and use that value. Here's my breakdown (hope this is right) 1. Have a popup box that prompt for a 'yes' or 'cancel' Code: if(window.confirm("Use WHATEVER theme?")) { * * location.href = "URL HERE"; } Got that! 2. Save a cookie with the answer Here is where I need the help. I really don't have a clue other than the fact that you use setCookie(name, value, expire). I'm guessing that there will need to be something special in the value section. 3. When the script is loaded, it will check for the cookie saved and do whatever was saved Again, I need help. I know I'll need the getCookie function, but I dont know what else. As you can see, I'm rather hazy in the cookies department. If you ha any trouble and now understand it, please direct me to where you learned it as I am willing and wanting to learn this inportant function of JavaScript! I tried to provide as much detail as possible, but if you have questions ask! Any help would be greatly appreciated, whether or not it's the code I need. Whether it is direction or step by step help, I will still value it! Thanks! |
