JavaScript - Help Needed For Duplicating Sets Of Triple Drop Down Menu.
Dear all,
Below are my current script. I need another few more sets of the triple drop down menu same as the below script... (Scenario: creating like a online shopping order form, where customers can have multiple orders.) Please guide me how to do so.. Thank you in advance. <script type="text/javascript"> /* Triple Combo Script Credit By Philip M: http://www.codingforums.com/member.php?u=186 Visit http://javascriptkit.com for this and over 400+ other scripts */ var categories = []; categories["startList"] = ["Wearing Apparel","Books"] categories["Wearing Apparel"] = ["Men","Women","Children"]; categories["Books"] = ["Biography","Fiction","Nonfiction"]; categories["Men"] = ["Shirts","Ties","Belts","Hats"]; categories["Women"] = ["Blouses","Skirts","Scarves", "Hats"]; categories["Children"] = ["Shorts", "Socks", "Coats", "Nightwear"]; categories["Biography"] = ["Contemporay","Historical","Other"]; categories["Fiction"] = ["Science Fiction","Romance", "Thrillers", "Crime"]; categories["Nonfiction"] = ["How-To","Travel","Cookbooks", "Old Churches"]; var nLists = 3; // number of select lists in the set function fillSelect(currCat,currList){ var step = Number(currList.name.replace(/\D/g,"")); for (i=step; i<nLists+1; i++) { document.forms['tripleplay']['List'+i].length = 1; document.forms['tripleplay']['List'+i].selectedIndex = 0; } var nCat = categories[currCat]; for (each in nCat) { var nOption = document.createElement('option'); var nData = document.createTextNode(nCat[each]); nOption.setAttribute('value',nCat[each]); nOption.appendChild(nData); currList.appendChild(nOption); } } function getValue(L3, L2, L1) { alert("Your selection was:- \n" + L1 + "\n" + L2 + "\n" + L3); } function init() { fillSelect('startList',document.forms['tripleplay']['List1']) } navigator.appName == "Microsoft Internet Explorer" ? attachEvent('onload', init, false) : addEventListener('load', init, false); </script> <meta http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html; charset=UTF-8" /> <title>Untitled Document</title> </head> <body> <form name="tripleplay" action=""> <select name='List1' onchange="fillSelect(this.value,this.form['List2'])"> <option selected>Make a selection</option> </select> <select name='List2' onchange="fillSelect(this.value,this.form['List3'])"> <option selected>Make a selection</option> </select> <select name='List3' onchange="getValue(this.value, this.form['List2'].value, this.form['List1'].value)"> <option selected >Make a selection</option> </select> </form> </body> </html> Similar TutorialsI am presently using a script provided by http://javascript.internet.com/forms...drop-down.html. This script works great, however I need three sequential drop down menus rather than the two provided in this script. I need Country > Province/State > Cities. Unfortunately I am not a programmer, but generally muddle along to a resolution. In this case I am stumped. Can anyone show me what needs to be added to that existing script to convert it into a three menu script instead of two? I've searched extensively but find nothing about this. I apologize in advance for my lack of scripting knowledge, but much of JavaScript leaves me thoroughly confused. With html I am fine, but at 69 years of age the 'newer' scripts are leaving me behind.
Hi. The triple drop down menu look like this: http://www.trans4mind.com/personal_d...tripleMenu.htm However, I wish there to be an add/delete button beside it, that could add new pages and sub-pages (or delete them) for the drop down module. Is there anyone here that knows the right code for the add/delete-page feature. Hello All, I am trying to create a three drop down lists for my job. The three drop downs would be: Degree Type (certificate, associate's, bachelor's, etc) Category (Arts & Humanities, Automotive, Computers & IT etc.) Program (Desktop Publishing, Automotive Technician Training, Network Systems, etc.) The Category list needs to be dependent on the degree type and the Program list needs to be dependent on the Category list. I need to have values that will submit to my form but ONLY for the Program List. For example: <option value="CECS">Cisco</option> <option value="CEIT">Information Technology (General)</option> <option value="CEMS">Microsoft</option> <option value="CENSYS">Network Systems</option> Please note that I must use these program codes as values and I cannot use the option name as the value. This does not have to look good, it just needs to work as it is for internal use only within my company. This form will never be used by random web surfers. If someone can point me to a tutorial for a good triple drop down that will pass ONLY the values of the third list, that would be great! Thanks! I tried implementing a cleaner approach to a web form I had created, but it doesn't seem to be passing the values to the server properly. What gives? This form on the left and right work perfectly, but they have two ridiculously long drop down lists, which would be the "ProgramOfInterest" fields (please use the following values preselected in this form) http://www.nationalcollegesearch.org..._pingpost.html On this form, I tried creating a triple drop down list setup to clean up the older, long lists in this example, but it doesn't pass the values properly. It also seems to not duplicate the new drop down triple drop lists properly as in the original form. You can change the values in the drop downs in the forms to see what I mean. Also just pick Bachelor's > B_Business > Business Administration in the triple drop downs for an example since I don't know how to preselect those values. http://nationalcollegesearch.org/Integrate/PleaseHelpMeWithMyCode/integrate_pingpost_experiment.html Please let me know if there is anything I can do to pass the correct values to the server. Thanks! P.S. Please note that I have disabled the form on the right and intentionally left the action empty. speed of the drop). The problem is, I had a massive amount of help making the Javascript side of the menu, and do not know how to edit it... I want the rules to still apply, where only one can be expanded at a time (one of the first drops, and then only one of the sub-drops). I noticed in the code, I can edit it so there can be more than one drop, but that would mean, the whole menu could be expanded Also, I want my sub-drops. to have different span colour than the main drop. but trhe links and such, (everything else about it) can be the same.... My live demo is here! Thank you for any help and/or advice in advance, Best Regards, Tim Hi all, I think I have posted in the right place, if not appologies. Anyhow, I am currently creating a website for my canvas printing business and run into a few javascripting issues. I am trying to create a small navigation form whereby a customer can select from a dropdown the required width of canvas, this selection will then populate a second dropdown with a choice of canvas heights. Ok, so trawling many sites I came across some javascript that I was able to chop about and have this part sorted. The problem now is that I would like to include a submit button that when clicked takes the customer to a webpage based on their two dropdown choices, and being a complete newby when it comes to javascript I am stuck trying to include the script to enable this. eg: if they select '20" (51cm)' from the first dropdown and '16" (41cm)' from the second dropdown, they will navigate to "http: / / 20x16.co.uk" canvas print page. I have not currently created the canvas print pages so am unable to give the URLs of the pages. However if somebody can lend a hand to get me started and indicate where the desitnation URLs need to be added, I can drop these in later. The way that the script is currently written, the linked url could be based soley on the choice made in the second dropdown. I have a draft page with the working dropdowns he http://merchant.auctivacommerce.com/...iewtheme=32189 And the code that I currently have is: Code: <script type="text/javascript"> var SELECT_WIDTH_FIRST = []; Im trying to duplicate an image multiple times here is what I have Code: <!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD XHTML 1.0 Transitional//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/xhtml1/DTD/xhtml1-transitional.dtd"> <html xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml"> <head> <title></title> <script type="text/javascript"> var totalNumber = 1000; function insert(num) { var cont = document.getElementById("cont"); var img = document.createElement("img"); var percent = num/totalNumber; var result = cont.offsetWidth * percent; var dup = result/100*2; img.src = "guy.jpg"; cont.appendChild(img); } </script> <style type="text/css"> #cont {height:100px; width:500px;} </style> </head> <body> <div id="cont"></div> </body> <script type="text/javascript"> insert(3000); </script> </html> So Im trying to get img to repeat the variable "dup" so you would see <img src="guy.jpg"> 30 times. Hey everyone! This is my first post, so let me go ahead and say hey to everyone at the forums. I myself don't know a whole lot about programming/coding, but I do run my business completely off the internet so I'm not clueless. I have a firm grip on HTML, and I can edit CSS files usually whenever I need to. All my sites use Wordpress now anyway, so there's rarely any need to check or edit the code. Anyways, to my dilemma. I basically have an old website of my own (http://www.knowtheirbackground.blogspot.com). It's a pretty old site I hosted on Blogger, and if anyone is familiar with Blogger it's pretty simple. I downloaded that theme from a site and since all Blogger themes are XML I never really looked at the code. Basically, I want to have a menu like you see on the right of the site I linked you to. A tabbed javascript menu (from what I looked at of the code recently I thought the menu was pretty much made using javascript and css). I've tried Googling and Bing-ing and yahoo-ing tutorials to make a tabbed menu and haven't been successful yet. I want one that operates just like the one on Know Their Background, only things I would change is the text and maybe the colors. I've looked and tried for days and have been unsuccessful. Any help I would GREATLY appreciate. P.S. I also tried using jQuery or something along those lines and nothing. Tried some wordpress plug ins too but they only work in widgets when they do work.. I want my menu in a sticky post on the front page. I found a menu I really like at the top of the page at www-dot-sachscreative-dot-com but can't figure out how it works from the source code. Can someone tell me how to make something like it which is browser independent and uses javascript and/or CSS? It's been years since I did javascript work and I've forgotten must of what I used to know. Thanks.
Hello, I have a specific need in javascript. Can I be guided in this context if its possible or not??? I am using virtuemart extension in joomla to make an ecommerce website. I will try to explain my requirement with the example. Following is the sample category tree with number. 1.0 .....1.1 ..........1.1.1 ..........1.1.2 .....1.2 ..........1.2.1 ..........1.2.2 .....1.3 ..........1.3.1 ..........1.3.2 2.0 .....2.1 ..........2.1.1 ..........2.1.2 .....2.2 ..........2.2.1 ..........2.2.2 .....2.3 ..........2.3.1 ..........2.3.2 Now I have a drop down main menu as 1.0 and 2.0. I want that when i click on 1.0 all the nodes of 1.0 should be opened and 2.0 should be closed and similarly when i click on 2.0 all its child nodes should be opened and 1.0 should be closed. What happen with most extensions is that at a time only one child is opened. If i click on 1.0 then only 1.1 or 1.2 or 1.3 will remain open at a time. Does this kind of customization can be done or is available in javascript .... I hope i will be helped... Thanks a lot for the time. Okay, so I've created a JavaScript form which allows the user to enter their name into the form and display it within the sentence, "Welcome to the site ______". It works on one page, but, problem is, I'd like it to be displayed on every page. I'm aware you cannot do this with getElementbyId (can only be used once), which is what I've used. I've tried using getElementsbyClass, but from my understanding, it's not as simple as that. Here's my code so far anyway: Code: <script type="text/javascript"> function inputname(){ var userInput = document.getElementById('userInput').value; document.getElementById('welcome').innerHTML = userInput; } </script> Code: <p>Welcome to the site <b id='welcome'></b> </p> <input type='text' id='userInput' /> <input type='button' onclick='inputname()' value='Enter Name'/> Hello all, Firstly apologies for my javascript ignorance - I'm not a programmer, just someone thrust into programming since there's no-one else at my company who can do it. I found a nice js script online for a drop-down menu where the drop downs both expand to their full size and fade-in (very quickly) from transparent. The script in action can be seen on the script writer's site he http://sandbox.leigeber.com/dropdown-menu/index.html and the script is: Code: var menu=function(){ var t=15,z=50,s=6,a; function dd(n){this.n=n; this.h=[]; this.c=[]} dd.prototype.init=function(p,c){ a=c; var w=document.getElementById(p), s=w.getElementsByTagName('ul'), l=s.length, i=0; for(i;i<l;i++){ var h=s[i].parentNode; this.h[i]=h; this.c[i]=s[i]; h.onmouseover=new Function(this.n+'.st('+i+',true)'); h.onmouseout=new Function(this.n+'.st('+i+')'); } } dd.prototype.st=function(x,f){ var c=this.c[x], h=this.h[x], p=h.getElementsByTagName('a')[0]; clearInterval(c.t); c.style.overflow='hidden'; if(f){ p.className+=' '+a; if(!c.mh){c.style.display='block'; c.style.height=''; c.mh=c.offsetHeight; c.style.height=0} if(c.mh==c.offsetHeight){c.style.overflow='visible'} else{c.style.zIndex=z; z++; c.t=setInterval(function(){sl(c,1)},t)} }else{p.className=p.className.replace(a,''); c.t=setInterval(function(){sl(c,-1)},t)} } function sl(c,f){ var h=c.offsetHeight; if((h<=0&&f!=1)||(h>=c.mh&&f==1)){ if(f==1){c.style.filter=''; c.style.opacity=1; c.style.overflow='visible'} clearInterval(c.t); return } var d=(f==1)?Math.ceil((c.mh-h)/s):Math.ceil(h/s), o=h/c.mh; c.style.opacity=o; c.style.filter='alpha(opacity='+(o*100)+')'; c.style.height=h+(d*f)+'px' } return{dd:dd} }(); with Code: var menu=new menu.dd("menu"); menu.init("menu","menuhover"); used on my html page to call the script. I'm using the script exactly as written and exactly as it is on the dude's demo page for it. However, some of my sub-menu items are wider than their parent items and in IE7 this means they are bound to the width of the parent until the animations have finished, and then pop-out to their full width (NB not an issue in FF3). I'm actually not too fussed about either the fade in or expand out effects (they'd be nice, but not at the expense of the IE7 bug) so I simply wanted to know what I should do to the script to turn off the effects, or make them instant - ie reduce the length of the effect to as short as possible. I understand I can get rid of the bug by specifying a width for the ul element in my css, but I'd rather not do that if I can help it. I'd appreciate anyone's insight on this. Thanks Tom I have been working with the double combo box w/ description script from javascriptkit, and I attempted to add an additional 3rd combo box that would switch selects based upon selection of the 2nd combo box, but I am having difficulty with this. I have tried to rename the variables and other elements within the script but still no luck.... I appreciate the responses: Code: <script type="text/javascript"> var goleftimage='images/left_arrow_1.jpg' var gorightimage='images/right_arrow_1.jpg' var menuwidth=380 var menuheight=60 var scrolldir="normal" var scrollspeed=6 var menucontents='<nobr><center>SCROLLING CONTENT HERE</center></nobr>' var iedom=document.all||document.getElementById var rightdircode='onMouseover="moveleft()" onMouseout="clearTimeout(lefttime)"' var leftdircode='onMouseover="moveright()" onMouseout="clearTimeout(righttime)"' if (scrolldir=="reverse"){ var tempswap=leftdircode leftdircode=rightdircode rightdircode=tempswap } if (iedom) document.write('<span id="temp" style="visibility:hidden;position:absolute;top:-100;left:-5000">'+menucontents+'</span>') var actualwidth='' var cross_scroll, ns_scroll var loadedyes=0 function fillup(){ if (iedom){ cross_scroll=document.getElementById? document.getElementById("test2") : document.all.test2 cross_scroll.innerHTML=menucontents actualwidth=document.all? cross_scroll.offsetWidth : document.getElementById("temp").offsetWidth } else if (document.layers){ ns_scroll=document.ns_scrollmenu.document.ns_scrollmenu2 ns_scroll.document.write(menucontents) ns_scroll.document.close() actualwidth=ns_scroll.document.width } loadedyes=1 } window.onload=fillup function moveleft(){ if (loadedyes){ if (iedom&&parseInt(cross_scroll.style.left)>(menuwidth-actualwidth)){ cross_scroll.style.left=parseInt(cross_scroll.style.left)-scrollspeed+"px" } else if (document.layers&&ns_scroll.left>(menuwidth-actualwidth)) ns_scroll.left-=scrollspeed } lefttime=setTimeout("moveleft()",50) } function moveright(){ if (loadedyes){ if (iedom&&parseInt(cross_scroll.style.left)<0) cross_scroll.style.left=parseInt(cross_scroll.style.left)+scrollspeed+"px" else if (document.layers&&ns_scroll.left<0) ns_scroll.left+=scrollspeed } righttime=setTimeout("moveright()",50) } if (iedom||document.layers){ with (document){ write('<table border="0" cellspacing="0" cellpadding="1">') write('<td valign="middle"><a href="#" '+leftdircode+'><img src="'+goleftimage+'"border=0></a> </td>') write('<td width="'+menuwidth+'px" valign="top">') if (iedom){ write('<div style="position:relative;width:'+menuwidth+'px;height:'+menuheight+'px;overflow:hidden;">') write('<div id="test2" style="position:absolute;left:0;top:0">') write('</div></div>') } else if (document.layers){ write('<ilayer width='+menuwidth+' height='+menuheight+' name="ns_scrollmenu">') write('<layer name="ns_scrollmenu2" left=0 top=0></layer></ilayer>') } write('</td>') write('<td valign="middle"> <a href="#" '+rightdircode+'>') write('<img src="'+gorightimage+'"border=0></a>') write('</td></table>') } } </script> I will include this within a php page and the menu contents will be dynamically pulled from a database, I can handle populating the menucontents however, I have failed to be able to have more than one scroller on the page at once. Thanks I presently have a drop down menu in one of my sites. I wish to break it down one more time so that it opens up on the side. However, not being a javascript expert I cannot figure out how to do it. I assume it is something within the coding that needs to be changed, or even a new section added. I have included the coding, please can someone point me in the right direction. Thank you so much!
