JavaScript - Passing Javascript Menu Settings
Hello! I have a question about a concept I'm working with. I want to create an html page that displays several links to different pages on the site. The user would then be able to drag and drop these links into some sort of list. That part I have figured out. Once they've finished creating their list, they would be able to click on the links in the list. The question I have is this: if they click on a link in the list and go to that page, can their list again be displayed on the new page along with the items they added to it on the previous page? If this is a simple cookie thing, that is awesome. I can't utilize a database or anything server-side for this. HTML and javascript only. Any help would be hugely appreciated, as my programmer is out today.

The above CSS applies to menu. The alert box tells me: top = So menu.style.top is not set to anything even though I explicitely set it in my CSS. Why is this? Note: I've verified that menu.style.top is still blank even well after the page loads, just to be sure that it's not an issue with CSS being read/processed after the initPage script is read/processed. Hi, all New here and hoping you can help. I'm trying to figure out the correct event handler and syntax (and whether or not to use a header script) to pass the selected value from a dropdown menu back to PHP. In a nutshell, here's my process: PHP creates an HTML form containing a drop down menu populated with names and email addresses, email being the option value. This is followed by an input box where the user will select a name from the list, enter an amount into the input box, then submit the whole form with an image button, where this data will be passed back to PHP for insertion into the database. The amount portion works beautifully. I can hit the database every time. On the other hand, I cannot get the name/email selection from the drop down menu to be recognized no matter what I do. It tells me nothing is selected even when it is. Well, that isn't entirely true - the closest I've come was apparently screwing up a portion of the PHP code which generates the form and somehow received a Forbidden error when the form tried to link me to the email address. I've never been so happy to be forbidden - or receive an error - in my life. LOL At least that meant I was finally being heard, even if not in the way I want or need. I've tried onChange, onClick, onSubmit and can't seem to hit the right combo. Here's a look at one scenario of many that I've tried. Hello Guys, I have a page with thumb nails and a large image that changes when clicking on thumbnail. I need to display dynamic title for the image. It wont display because the page is not reloading.. How do you pass the name so it will show up without reloading? Hi, I hope someone can help me! I have a list of buttons, each with a different id which is taken from the ids of these values from the database. When I click one of the buttons it shows the items that correspond to this id in the database. Therefore, when different buttons are clicked the display changes to match the objects relating to this particular button. When a button is clicked, this shows various other objects which I can then select (using a checkbox). When a checkbox is clicked, a Javascript function is called to change the html text next to the appropriate button. However, I can't get this to work as I need to pass the id of the button, and the html span, to the Javascript in order to change the correct text. So, the thing actually works (the post gets deleted from the database). But what does not work, is: 1) the div is not getting hidden via the .hide() 2) after I click the onClick link, the page scrolls back to the top of the page... and I have to end up reloading the page to see the change. I believe there is something wrong with where I placed the "return false;" and something wrong with how I call the variable in .hide(). I'm more of an actionscript person but got roped into an html/javascript job. What I need to do, and it shouldn't be that difficult is this: page1.html - there is a yellow button and a red button - if the user clicks on the yellow button I want to set a cookie with the value "yel" then load the next page - if they click the red button set that cookie with the value "red" page2.html - 'onload' i want to read that cookie and load up the main image to match, something like this maybe?... document.mainimage.src='img/main_' + variable + '.png' so that the path would be for example 'img/main_red.png' Any help please?
