JavaScript - Window.opener And Trusted Sites (ie8)

The script inside my opening if statement is working, but is the rest of this written right? I'm just want my script to run after it makes sure that a div class named single-journal-entry-wrapper is on the page.

Here is what I have: a regular main window that opens a small pop-up for preview purposes. This pop-up window has a text link to close it and a text link to close it and reach a page with more detail in the main window.

I have been trying an infinite number of things so far and I cannot get this last link to work in Opera 10. All workarounds are just fine in FF 3 and IE 8.

Here is the function called when clicking the link to "close and go":

I have tried the same thing with

In every case, Opera doesn't do anything when I click that link and I get this error:

"protected variable" will change according to the attempt I made (href, location, outerwidth).

I'm gessing there is something very strict in the way Opera handles javascript. I'm a beginner and I have reached my limits. This is where I ask for help...

So, how can I get that pop-up to close and get the main window to change location?

In your opinion, How the google puts its ads on the other sites? Do you think the google creates a new 'iframe' tag and puts Ads on it ? Or the google uses another ways to puts ads on sites?

I'm making 2 sites and need a visitor who lands on the home page of either site to first be shown a page that shows a company introduction and 2 links at the bottom so they can choose which division of the site (which website) they want to go to.

Does anyone know of any pre-made java or other code that would allow for this? So that a visitor doesn't get stuck in a cycle of being taken from one home page to the other and having the pop-up every time, I'm thinking it will likely need to write a cookie saying they've seen the pop up, then it won't appear again.
Each site would then have to check for a cookie from either site.

Does anyone have any ideas on how to make this work? I'm open to anything and have to have it done by friday

I was wondering why in mozilla firefox the same image menu has different way of transition on different sites.

In both cases the transition effect is same but in one it is slow (hanging) while in other it is smooth. I didn't presented the Markup as the both are identical but still if you feel like let me know in comments I will edit it to provide you with as much relevant data as possible and required.

I was wondering if there are any sites dedicated to ending javascript objects using the prototype property to give them features like trimming string, removing elements of arrays by name, removing duplicates in arrays, etc. Granted I have functions to do this but there's probably a ton of other good ones out there. Most things I've seen are frameworks like JQuery (which is awesome) but it doesn't extend these objects.

We are building an opera extension in which we are trying to use the document object property (document.body.innerHTML) in order to obtain the source of the main page of a site. In most cases it provides us with the correct page source but for certain sites (ones that have multiple document layers), it doesn't return the top most document.

For instance, for the site (https://www.pcisecuritystandards.org/) we would like to source for the main page that is displayed but
once the entire page is loaded, the document property would display the source for another layer (https://s7.addthis.com/static/r07/sh...rev=86981&xd=1)

This perhaps has to do with how opera loads the document layers in a page. We did not face any issue with any other browser

Basically, I want to input a number in the input box, which assigns a number to the variable numval located at document.box1.b1.

When clicking on the "new window" button, an alert displays the input box value, then another window opens and displays the integers 1 through 12 and the amount squared.

I would like the new window to obtain the number from the previous window so that the new window will display integers (and their squares) from 1 to the value of numval.

I am looking to have a link open a closeable window that is contained within a browser window. If you click on the "sizing charts" link on this website, this is exactly what I am looking to do:

The window is contained within the current browser window, it can be dragged around, but not outside the parameters of the browser window.

Is there a title for this technique that I can research? Not looking to waste anybodys time, but if I can get steered in the right direction it would be greatly appreciated.

I was able to have the child window perform the function defined in the parent window.

The function was to only have an alert window pop up as the child page was loading.

I easily modified this to my intention which was to have a parent function performed when the child window was clicked.

Using the body tag:

I first change the method in which the function would be triggered, all went well there. then I tried to change which function would be triggered. (Basically use the function I wanted to happen on click of the child window rather then the function from the test). Once I did this switch, nothing happens.

What I want is when the menu bar is open in the parent window, the user chooses a link and the menu closes and goes to that link in the child window.
This already works.
However if the user opens the menu bar and then changes there mind and continues with the page the are currently on (clicks any content in the child window), the menu stays open.

Currently the menu "hides" only when you choose one of the menu items, but it does not "hide" when you CLICK on child document. If you could figure out how to get it to "hide" on a "mouse out" that would be the better option.

I attempted this method however i could only get it to "toggle" the menu on "mouse out". This method does however create an annoying flicker when you hover over the menu items (as it is toggling the open menu command I guess). If I had it "hide" the menu on "mouse out" it would "hide" as soon as you moved off of the main button. The viewer doesn't even have a chance to click a link. or at least that is what happens when I did it. You may have a better method to achieve this.

I've tried adding the click to "hide" menu feature to the child document but there is now menu in that document for it to "hide".

What I was trying to was have the child document execute a function from the parent document and have that function executed IN the parent document. I've tried the technique from the link in my very first post but I believe it only calls the function from the parent and executes it IN the child. Which does not work for me as the menu is not in the child.

There should be a way to make the child execute a function FOR the parent.

I apologize for this very wordy post, but I am extremely frustrated with this now as I have been trying to get this to work for a few weeks now.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.
