JavaScript - Load And Replace Code
I have a browser game that's coded with javascript. It's a basic question and answer game. A question is asked and if they type the right answer it brings them to a new page with a new question and continues on.
Right now it's coded in a way that each question is a separate HTML page. I'm trying to find a way to get it so it's all on one page. Due to the nature of my code the best way I can think of is to have the content of those HTML pages load and replace a certain section of HTML code that's already on the page. Does this make any sense and if so is there such a solution? Similar Tutorialshello, iam kind of new at javascript, but iam trying my best to be better and better. so i have 3 divs (my_block, my_image, my_description) as you see in my code below Code: <div class = "my_block"> <div class = "my_image"> <img src="images/pic.jpg" width="600" height="600"> </div> <div class = "my_description"> <a> Description goes here.... ! </a> </div> </div> just i want to display the "my description" div only after the 100% image loading completion which exist in "my_image" div. so how can i get this done with Javascript please ?? thanks a lot Hi, I have a webpage structured as below and want the contents in the iframe to load prior to the code below it. At the moment the javascript(resizing stuff) in the iframe code delays the iframe from loading in full before the "streaming music player" code. This iframe javascript is on the page as opposed to an external file. I would have thought the iframe would have to load in full before the code below it would be executed. How do I make the iframe load in sequence or delay/hide the code below it until iframe is fully loaded? Thanks ####header#### flash ####header menu#### flash ####iframe#### lots of javascript and content from page on mywebsite (not external url) ###streaming music player##### embedded flash player linked to external site ####footer menu#### flash Hello. I'm trying to improve page loads times on my site and I've tracked the issue down to the share buttons we have. We load the Tweet Button, Facebook Like Button, and Google +1 button sometimes up to 25 times on one page. What I'd like to do is, on initial load, display an image that looks like the Tweet Button, for example, and then when hovering over a div, change to the actual Tweet Button code. I know how to do this in general, but the key is that the actual tweet button code doesn't load when the page loads, only when you hover over the div does the actual code load. Can someone please give me a general template and I can integrate it in with my site? Thanks. I need a code that will load multiple codes based on what minute it is. Example: If it's 12:31 it will load code A If it's 12:32 it will load code B (Lets just say there are only two codes) If it's 12:33 it will load code A If it's 12:34 it will load code B etc. I use to have this in a file somewhere, but over the course of the past few years I've misplaced it an am unable to find it. It would be much appreciated if I could get some help with this. Basically, what I'm trying to do is set the left margin of an image based on the width of the image, because I want the image to appear centered relative to the link table above. I've been using this code: Code: function insertImageMargin() { var marg = getImageMargin(); document.getElementById("comic").style.marginLeft = marg + "px"; } function getImageMargin() { var com = document.getElementById("comic"); return 440 - com.width / 2; } What happens is, the first time com.width is 0, but if I hit reload, it is the width of the image, and the code works correctly. How do I get this to work the first time, or can you suggest an alternate approach? Hi all Is there a way to get the image(s) to load into the table after the page has loaded instead of the way I have it now? I have 4 tabs, but I would like the imgs in tabs 2,3,4 to load after page load. Example of how the tabs look. Code: <div class="tabbertab"> <h2>Australia_____</h2> <table width="100%" border="0" cellpadding="3" cellspacing="1" bgcolor="#FFFFCC"> <caption class="highlight_Red">澳洲 Australia </caption> <tr> <td><a href="pages/promotion.html#aus_ACE" rel="nofollow" target="_blank"><img src="pages/images/Pics/AUS/ace.jpg" alt="ACE / ATTC" width="110" height="69" border="0" align="left" class="ozimg_L"/> ...a few more images etc the other tabs look the same. LT i am trying to make an online graphing calculator with javascript. dont ask how because i dont know. but there is an annoying error in a do...while loop. although it should break out of the loop when the |'s (absolute value signs) are replaced with Math.abs( and ). here is the code. Code: var initec = function(){ var rg = { } ; rg.matc = false; rg.i = 0; rg.change = function(equ){ if (typeof(equ) != "string"){ alert('Equation must be a string'); return; } alert("starting equation: "+ equ); rg.i = 0; do{ rg.matc = equ.match(/\|/); if(rg.i === 0){ equ.replace(/\|/, " Math.abs("); rg.i = 1; alert("1 "+equ); } else { equ.replace(/\|/, " ) "); rg.i = 0; alert("0 "+equ); } }while(rg.matc) alert("finished equation: " + equ); } return rg; } rg=initec(); rg.change("|8/x+7|-2"); the last 2 lines and the alerts are for debugging. as you can see, it is not finished. but still, it should work. This script displays a link to a registration/login form that loads in a light box for Joomla. I've been goin nuts trying to figure out how to get this to load on page load with a delay. Operation Aborted. I understand it is caused by the jquery autocomplete function loading before the page / DOM has fully loaded. I tried adding Defer="true" to the script however this doesn't seem to work. Could someone please tell me what i must add to the script so that it loads after the dom has fully loaded? Thanks guys George First of all, I don't want to replace text in a form, or on click. I'm writing up a design document in HTML, and I need an area to display code. The < and > tags won't show up, obviously, but to make it easier on the programmer, I don't want him to have to manually put in < and > for each time it shows up. I am aware that JavaScript has a replace function, but I am not familiar with JavaScript quite yet. Is there a way to have JavaScript find the < and > in a certain div, and replace it with < and > on load? I would appreciate your help so much, Its been frustrating me. in the div class "done" it reads 13/34 i want to compare these to numbers like this if (13 < 34){do something()} else {return false;} so i am trying to get each number by it self to compare with. var did=m[1].getElementsByClassName("done")[1].innerText.replace(/\/.*/,"").value; this line returns 13 correctly. var need=m[1].getElementsByClassName("done")[1].innerText.replace(? ,"").value; this ? the info that i need to get for the other number. i know how to do it if it were a letter but can find the correct way being that it is a / instead. Thx I found a regular expression that will strip my string of every html tag... var stripped = htmlStr.replace(/(<([^>]+)>)/ig,""); Well, I also want it to strip every thing between parentheses, square brackets, and replace " &# 160;" with a space. It would be really cool if you could explain how to do this as well, because the stuff in the above code after "replace" confuses me. I have no idea how that's working. Hi I'm looking for a very simple script to replace one div with another. I've found a few but they seem overly complicated with features I don't need. I simply want to be able to click on a div and for it to be replaced with another div previously hidden. If someone could suggest a solution or point me in the right direction I'd really appreciate it. Thanks Does anyone know if it it possible to automatically replace any instance of & with 'and' using javascript when someone types into a text input?
I know how the replace method works, but I can't for the life of me figure out exactly what this replace function is doing... Can someone shed somelight for me? the g I *think* is a flag for global replacement... Code: replace(/\s/g, " "); I know that *something* is being replaced by a non-blank space, but what? Hi all, I have this code: Code: <input type="hidden" value="update_cart" name="ca"> <input type="hidden" value="2" name="numcart"> <input type="submit" name="submit" value="Update Cart" class="inpSubmit"> I'd like to replace this: Code: <input type="submit" name="submit" value="Update Cart" class="inpSubmit"> with this: Code: <button>blabla<button> How can I do? I know something about unobtrusive javascript but I don't know how to do it. Thank you very much How would you do a .replace for a Javascript if statment.
I have a javascript that takes information from a form and recompiles that information into a readable shift report. The problem I am having is with returns in the textareas. I tried: Code: theReport = theReport.replace(" ","<br>" but that space puts the rest of the var on a different line and screws with the results. How can I replace a return with <br>? Code: dropDownPart.innerHTML = tmpInnerHTML; how does this tmpInnerHTML gets filled : Code: for (var i = 0; i < arr.length ; i++) { var arr1 = arr[i].split('|'); id_tezaver = arr1[0]; term = arr1[1] // if arr1[1] contains ', then ewerything after that disapears inside term, // like "bird's eyes" becomes "bird" // how to handle that ? // bad example how I get to verify that the stuff is complete inside array // term = arr1[1].replace(/'/i, /oo/); } document.write(str.replace(/(\+|\(|\)|.|-|\/ /g,'')); feeble attempt to remove '.'
