JavaScript - Why Can I Not Download This Script?
I have been trying to download the jquery code from this site, but the Firefox browser downloader says that it is unable to download it.
Any ideas why this happens? Frank Similar TutorialsHi Guys, I am trying to create a way for my users to download some code dynamically from my web page via a file download. Below is the code that i have written so far. It seems to be dying on the iframe but i'm not sure why. Here is my jquery trigger which is inside my onreadystate function. Code: $('#export_txt').click(function(e){ alert(LPAjax.ajaxurl + "/download.php"); $.generateFile({ action : "download_txt", filename : "exportme.txt", content : $("#ticket_window").html(), script : LPAjax.ajaxurl + "/download.php" }); e.preventDefault(); }); and here is the code i am using to process the post. Code: (function($){ // Creating a jQuery plugin: $.generateFile = function(options){ options = options || {}; if(!options.script || !options.filename || !options.content){ throw new Error("Please enter all the required config options!"); } alert("Inside Function"); // Creating a 1 by 1 px invisible iframe: var iframe = $('<iframe>',{ width:1, height:1, frameborder:0, css:{ display:'none' } }).appendTo('body'); var formHTML = '<form action="" method="post">'+ '<input type="hidden" name="filename" />'+ '<input type="hidden" name="content" />'+ '</form>'; // Giving IE a chance to build the DOM in // the iframe with a short timeout: setTimeout(function(){ // The body element of the iframe document: var body = (iframe.prop('contentDocument') !== undefined) ? iframe.prop('contentDocument').body : iframe.prop('document').body; // IE alert(" We are almost there"); body = $(body); // Adding the form to the body: body.html(formHTML); alert("added form to page"); var form = body.find('form'); form.attr('action',options.script); form.find('input[name=filename]').val(options.filename); form.find('input[name=content]').val(options.content); alert("submitting form"); // Submitting the form to download.php. This will // cause the file download dialog box to appear. form.submit(); },50); }; })(jQuery); it seems to be dying on this line. Code: var body = (iframe.prop('contentDocument') !== undefined) Any suggestions? Thanks in advance. First, let me clarify. I'm still a JS noob, so feel free to dummy-proof your answers By my understanding, if I want to use a given JS on multiple pages, I need to call for that script in each page. If I understand correctly, it then downloads it, and the functionality is then available to that given page. Now, presuming that I've got that at least mostly correct, it seems like there should be a way to just download it once, and use it till the session is over. My thinking is to call for the heavy JS's on the welcome page after a succeful login, and then not have to slow down each and every page by calling for those same scripts. Is this common, or at least possible? Are there specific reasons to not do this? Thanks-a-bunch, ~ Mo Can anyone give me the code for the following: Suppose there is a hyperlink for file downloading in a html document. If I click on the link a new pop up window will come up which will be in the form of a typical file download popup window and will ask me to either "open" or "save" or "cancel" or "more info" (just as it happens in a typical file download process where a file download popup is being thrown). Also my file(the file can be in any format---.doc,.pdf,.exe or whatever)resides in my local hard drive and when I click on the hyper link the file download popup will comeup and will give me the 4 options as mentioned above. It wont just display the content of the file to be opened in new popup window. It will explicitly give the 4 options for any type of file to be downloaded thru the hyperlink. This coding is to be done only and only with HTML and JAVASCRIPT . Can anyone help me by providing code for the above task. Hi there, On this website: http://www.lutanho.net/stroke/online.html it's allowed to "copy the games to your PC and play them offline". That's nice but how do I do that? I've tried to download/copy the game "WordGrid" to my PC but it didn't work. Help would be appreciated. Thanks in advance........... I can write code to open a new window and write content into that window. e.g. Code: myWin = window.open('test.csv', 'myWin', '', true); mycontent = '< ... blah ... >'; myWin.document.writeln(my_content); myWin.document.close(); Does anyone know of a way to get the browser to download the content rather than display it, using javascript? Andrew. I'm trying to allow a user to download a file off my server without opening a new page. How would I do that with JavaScript? Thanks! Hello I want to add something to my web site. when the user clicks to download. i want to see a pop up screen which says your download has started. <script type="text/javascript"> function show_alert() { alert("Your Download Started!"); } </script> <input type="button" onclick="show_alert()" onclick="get value="Download" /> I dont get where should i put the download link Hi, i want to bring image download link to download a single image using like <a href="./images/sam.png">Download</a> when i click the download link it need to download plz help how can i download can finished Thanking you Hi I am not sure if this is a javascript issue but, Google Chrome version : 10.0.680 with one particular website, when I click around the pages, chrome tries to download the page, so for example, say the page is called contact.html, it ends up trying to download a file calling it cr.download contact.html What is happening here - any ideas? Does that sound like a javascript issue to you? Thanks! I want to download text file generated in a textarea here my download.php file code structure goes : <?php if(empty($_POST['filename']) || empty($_POST['content'])){ exit; } $filename = preg_replace('/[^a-z0-9\-\_\.]/i','',$_POST['filename']); header("Cache-Control: "); header("Content-type: text/plain"); header('Content-Disposition: attachment; filename="'.$filename.'"'); echo $_POST['content']; ?> and the javascript used (function($){ $.generateFile = function(options){ options = options || {}; if(!options.script || !options.filename || !options.content){ throw new Error("Please enter all the required config options!"); } var iframe = $('<iframe>',{ width:1, height:1, frameborder:0, css:{ display:'none' } }).appendTo('body'); and the script.js $(document).ready(function(){ $('#download').click(function(e){ $.generateFile({ filename : 'export.txt', content : $('textarea').val(), script : 'download.php' }); e.preventDefault(); }); by these assets i created a web page consisting a TEXTAREA , by entering some text on the textarea and clicking on the download button , a text files is generated and downloaded on the user's system, I packed the source code as a CRX file to use it as a CHROME extension, but while using the extension, the files are'nt generated, while the webpage works absolutely fine !!! I have searched this, I promise. But everything I've tried either does nothing or just opens a new window. All I want to be able to do is to have a button that when the user clicks on it, it will open a "save as" dialog box so they can save a file (a separate file, not the html one that they are looking at) from my server. Is this really not possible using javascript, or am I just completely confused again? Hi guys. This is a tricky one. I'm have some images on a site that I want a user to download to their sdcard. i have urls for the images (e.g. http://eg.com/image1.jpg) and i have a webpage with a button. when the user clicks the button, i want it to download those images to an sdcard in their pc (hopefully they can select where using a windows open file type box). i think this may be quite difficult due to security with browsers and Iv looked into activex object (but cant get it to save to my filesystem). if this cant be done, perhaps i could do it on the server-side using php and have the user use filezilla to download the images. obviously this is not a very elagant solution. any ideas on how i might approach this problem? thanks you Jen Hi Folks, I want a javascript code to download the webform/brochure in pdf format. While i click on a link/button the form should be saved in pdf format with whatever the state it is while a button click event was triggered. I am a newbie and have been trying a lot to address this requirement but not able to come up with a right code. Please help!! Thanks for your help in advance. Regards, Keen Learner Hey guys I've a download page with a button 'DOWNLOAD NOW'. When the button is clicked visitors will have to wait for the download to starts (doesn't redirect). What I want is that sometimes it takes very long for the DL to start after clicking the button, for instance 10 seconds. Hence I want to show a simple preloader WHEN the button is click, while waiting for the browser to stop loading and download to start, AND hide the preloader when browser stop loading and download started. I am try to reduce the time taken to download my home page. I purchased a template and then just modified what I wanted. There is a script that calls 21 other scripts. Drachsi www.drachsi.com hi, I have a website which is available on internet and uses lot of javascript code. Someone recently reported a bug and I fixed it in a javascript file. Now I want to move this updated js file on my server. but I am confused, how will this fix now be downloaded on every user's browser when they access website the next time? Is the download to client machine dependent on browser settings? could it be possible that some customer machine has latest file and some do not. How do I force file to download on client machine independent of client browser settings? thank u I am using a javascript audio player on a webpage that has an option to download the track by right clicking on a link called 'mp3' at the end of each track in the playlist. When the user right clicks on the track name however all that can be downloaded is an html file. I am trying to find a way of changing this so that right clicking on the track and choosing the 'save link as' option will download the mp3. I have been led to believe that I can use a script such as this one: http://abeautifulsite.net/blog/2008/...-click-plugin/ to generate a custom content menu for downloading tracks, or somehow downloading the mp3, but I am at a loss at to how to do this. Here's a screenshot of a track in the playlist: And here is the source: Code: {name:"foster manganyi na tintsumi ta tilo - zion (ndzi teke riendzo no. 1) <span style=\"color:#BDBDA1; font-size:12px;\">[from nick]</span>",mp3:"./songs//nick/zion.mp3"} I would be grateful for any advice on getting this working, Thanks, Nick Hey guys I'm need to put a photo slideshow on my website with a lot of images. I don't want all the images to download as you come to the website as this would take forever. Are there any pretty simple slideshows that load images just before they are about to come in the view?

Or are they viewed sequentially? If so there is no need for preloading images to take "forever". Preload the first (say) 5 and then preload the rest while the user is viewing the first ones. Or when each "next" image is selected for viewing preload the next following one. Hi All, I have two scripts which I want to try and integrate. I am using a nice gallery script to show thumbnails which are appended to a an image wrapper which on click of the thumbnail shows the larger image in the image wrapper, I am trying to implement cloud zoom which is a plugin which uses image srcs to then point to an anchor href to show another larger zoom image either in the same place.. which is what I am trying to do or in another div beside. I have had to set me img srcs up in a certain way to easily enter some product details. and I need to try an manipulate the code to make it work to suit my file layout. I am using a var= images [ with a series of file locations and info such as below { src: 'romanticabride/thumbs/tn_Shauna.jpg', srcBig: 'romanticabride/images/Shauna.jpg', title: 'Shauna', longDescription: '<b><H1>Shauna</H1></b><br><b>Romantica Of Devon <br><br><h2>Sizes Available:</h2><br> 6 - 32.<b><br><b><br><b><b><b><H2>Colours Available:</h2><b><br>Various<br>Please Enquire Below<br><br><br><br><a href="mailto:tracy@cherishbridal.co.uk?subject=Web Enquiry Regarding Romantica Shauna Bridal Gown"class="enquiry rose glow" >Click To Enquire About This Item </a>' }, what I need is for cloud zoom to work when the main image wrapper is hovered over which means it will need to add a class or when the whichever srcBig: is hovered over it gets wrapped by href to make the script work . one of my pages is http://www.cherishbridal.co.uk/romaticabride.html the cloud zoom script is at http://www.professorcloud.com/mainsite/cloud-zoom.htm.. I am happy to share a jsfiddle with someone or explain further or post some code. Thank you in advance |
