JavaScript - Image Randomiser Code
Hi there, I hope this is the right board, I'm pretty sure it's Javascript I want, but I need to put it in a forum so I'm limited to HTMl and JS. I have pretty much no experience with JS but am alright at HTML... a simplified and expanded explanation would be nice.
So I'm looking for an image randomiser code with just a simple box, and a button that says 'Generate' and then 5 images appear. This would be easy by itself, it's just that I want some of the images to be more likely to appear than others. I was thinking of putting them in different sets: 'common' 'uncommon' 'rare' and having the randomiser have a 60% chance taking images from common, 30% from uncommon, and 10% from rare, for example. Is this possible? If so, I'd love some help! Similar TutorialsHey folks.. Hope you can help, I'm completely new to this and have no knowledge at all when it comes to javascript. Have been using this script on my site for a while. Is there anyway I can add a URL link to the images that are in my selector? When clicked would go to that page on my website. Thanks in advance of any help Nat <script language="JavaScript"> /* Random image slideshow- By Tyler Clarke (tyler@ihatecoffee.com) For this script and more, visit http://www.javascriptkit.com */ var delay=10000 //set delay in miliseconds var curindex=0 var randomimages=new Array() randomimages[0]="http://www.anywebsite.com/images/splash1.jpg" randomimages[1]="http://www.anywebsite.com/images/splash2.jpg" randomimages[2]="http://www.anywebsite.com/images/splash3.jpg" randomimages[3]="http://www.anywebsite.com/images/splash4.jpg" randomimages[4]="http://www.anywebsite.com/images/splash5.jpg" var preload=new Array() for (n=0;n<randomimages.length;n++) { preload[n]=new Image() preload[n].src=randomimages[n] } document.write('<img name="defaultimage" src="'+randomimages[Math.floor(Math.random()*(randomimages.length))]+'">') function rotateimage() { if (curindex==(tempindex=Math.floor(Math.random()*(randomimages.length)))){ curindex=curindex==0? 1 : curindex-1 } else curindex=tempindex document.images.defaultimage.src=randomimages[curindex] } setInterval("rotateimage()",delay) </script> Got the code he http://www.javascriptkit.com/script/cut173.shtml Using the code he http://www.lousshirtshack.com/Rouse-...t_p_2860.html# I have the top 2 pulldown selections live with images mapped. Do you guys see any reason why it won't change when I pull down? I have a tutorial I have to complete for my web class out of the "New Perspectives HTML, XHTML, and Dynamic HTML 4th edition book" (the tutorial I'm doing is number 10) and I can't figure out how to get the numbers to show up. Here is the code that is given to start out with. Code: <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8" ?> <!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD XHTML 1.0 Strict//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/xhtml1/DTD/xhtml1-strict.dtd"> <html xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml"> <head> <!-- New Perspectives on HTML and XHTML 5th Edition Tutorial 10 Review Assignment Monroe Public Library Author: Date: Filename: mpl2.htm Supporting files: mpl2.jpg, mplstyles.css, random.js, 0.jpg - 9.jpg --> <title>Monroe Public Library</title> <link href="mplstyles.css" rel="stylesheet" type="text/css" /> </head> <body> <div id="pageContent"> <div id="head"> <img src="mpl.jpg" alt="Monroe Public Library" /> </div> <div id="links"> <span>Quick Links</span> <a href="#">Home Page</a> <a href="#">Online Catalog</a> <a href="#">Friends of MPL</a> <a href="#">New Books and Other Good Reading</a> <a href="#">Ohio Virtual Library</a> <a href="#">Internet Public Library</a> <a href="#">Services and Collection</a> <a href="#">Adult Programs</a> <a href="#">Teen Central</a> <a href="#">Children's Room</a> <a href="#">Computers at MPL</a> <a href="#">Computer Rules and Procedures</a> <a href="#">Staff Directory</a> <a href="#">Library Records</a> </div> <div id="main"> <h2>Library Records</h2> <p>To view the library records, enter your username and password.</p> <table border="1" cellpadding="5" cellspacing="0"> <tr> <th>Username</th> <td><input size="20" /></td> </tr> <tr> <th>Password</th> <td><input type="password" size="20" /></td> </tr> <tr> <td>As a final security check, enter the 5 numbers you see displayed below.</td> <td><input size="6" /></td> </tr> <tr> <td colspan="2" class="center"> <input type="button" value="View Library Records" /> </td> </tr> <tr> <td colspan="2" class="center"> </td> </tr> </table> </div> <address> <b>Monroe Public Library</b> 580 Main Street, Monroe, OH 45050 <b>Phone</b>(513) 555-0211 <b>Fax</b>(513) 555-0241 </address> </div> </body> </html> Then these are the directions given in the book. 1. In the head section, just above the closing </head> tag, insert a script element that accesses the code in the random.js file. 2. add a second script element for the cod e that you'll add to the mpl2.htm file 3. Within the second script element, create a function named showImg(). The purpose of this function is to write an inline image tag into the current document. The function has no parameters. Add the following statements to the function: a. Add the following multiline comment to the start of the function, just below the opening showImg() function statement. The showImg() function displays a random image from the 0.jpg through 9.jpg files. The random image is designed to thwart hackers attempting to enter the library records database by requiring visual confirmation. b. Declare a variable named imgNumber equal to the value returned by the randomInteger() function. Use 9 as a value of the size parameter in the randomInteger() function. c. append the statement that creates the imgNumber variable with the following single-line comment: Return a random number from 0 to 9 d. inster a command that writes the text <img src='imgNumber.jpg' alt='' /> to the document, where imgNumber is the value of the imgNumber variable. 4. scroll down to the bottom of the file and locate the last table cell in the document. Within this empty table cell, insert a script element. 5. within the script element, call the showImg() function five times. YOu do not need to specify a parameter value. ___________________________ It's a lot of info but I just can't figure out how to get the images to show up, any help will be appreciated, I think I gave all the info needed. hi i have the site xtcservers.co.uk and i have downloaded a script for a horizontal image scrolling box. i am not a very good coder and would appreciate some help. here is the code: Code: //Specify the slider's width (in pixels) var sliderwidth="300px" //Specify the slider's height var sliderheight="150px" //Specify the slider's slide speed (larger is faster 1-10) var slidespeed=1 //configure background color: slidebgcolor="#EAEAEA" //Specify the slider's images var leftrightslide=new Array() var finalslide='' leftrightslide[0]='<a href="http://"><img src="images/uploaded/_sfpg_data/thumb/" border=1></a>' //Specify gap between each image (use HTML): var imagegap=" " //Specify pixels gap between each slideshow rotation (use integer): var slideshowgap=9 at the part were you specify the images to use is there a way to use a folder of images insdead of specifying each one for it to scroll trough. also os there a way to center the scroll box if you have a look the box is to the left. thanks lee hi, which is the first code in javascript to load an image from my computer and then to automatically resize it to me ... as in the facebook thanks
Hi! i am working on a facebook like photo viewer. I have used javascript to declare an array of about 200 images. I have the following approach to pre-load the images. I preload all the images when the page loads: HTML: <body onload = "lodpic()"> JAVASCRIPT: function lodpic() { for(i=0; i<=199; i++) { LODImage = new Image(); LODImage.src = picture[i]; } } The problem is the page tries to load all the images when opened. And when the user clicks "next" to view other photos, the other photo is still loading where as some are already loaded. I would like the code to be able to load the photo that the user is currently viewing as the user gets to that picture, before the page tries to finish loading all the photos. In other words, if the user wants to view a particular photo directly, that photo should get the priority of loading quickly. Or if there are other approaches, it would be really helpful. Thank you! Hi, I'm having a problem getting one of my image rollovers to work, what confuses me is that the other image works fine, I'm trying to get this to work for an assignment here's the javascript: Code: rollImage = new Array() for(i = 0; i < 12; i++){ rollImage[i] = new Image(85,85); } rollImage[0].src = "images/narav2.jpg"; rollImage[1].src = "images/narav3.jpg"; rollImage[2].src = "images/sasuke-avatar-118.jpg"; rollImage[3].src = "images/sasuke.jpg"; function swapNar(img){ //this works fine document.nar11.src = rollImage[img].src; return true; } function returnNar(img){ //this function works fine as well document.nar11.src = rollImage[img].src; return true; } function swapSas(img){ //this function not working document.sasim.src = rollImage(img).src; return true; } function returnSas(img){ //this function also not working document.sasim.src = rollImage(img).src; return true; } Here's the HTML: Code: <tr> <td height="60"> <img src="images/narav2.jpg" name="nar11" width="85" height="85" border="0" id="nar11"/> </td> <td> <a href="naruto.html" onMouseover = "swapNar(1)" onMouseout = "returnNar(0)"> Naruto </a> </td> </tr> <!-- When I mouse over the above link the image rolls over as expected, the bottom link doesn't work as expected and I can't see what I'm doing wrong --> <tr> <td height="60"> <img src="images/sasuke-avatar-118.jpg" name="sasim" width="85" height="85" border="0" id="sasim"/> </td> <td> <a href="sasuke.html" onMouseout= "swapSas(3)" onMouseover= "returnSas(2)"> Sasuke </a> </td> </tr> I can't see what the problem is with the returnSas and swapSas functions, I'm still a noob at this and would really appreciate some assistance, thanks in advance Basically, I have a Simon Says game with very simple functions but I added an image map with buttons that I now want to use, rather than a table with images as buttons. The problem is, now I can't get the game to work with the image map. Can anyone help me?
Hi this is my first thread here and I am a beginner programmer Java/HTML/CSS only. I used google to add an interactive feature to my website that some people may be familiar with. I wanted to make an image that changes into another image when you mouse over it. Maybe there is a problem with how I integrated it into the rest of my webpage code. I am using angelfire to build my website and am a little disappointed that they don't have their own forum but this one looks really good. Following is my code that can be examined and possibly corrected. Code: <html> <head> <style type="text/css"> body {background-color:gold;} table { width:70%; } th { height:100px; } </style> <script language="JavaScript"> <!-- Hide the script from old browsers -- img0_on = new Image(400,400); img0_on.src="images/the-power-of-the-cross.JPG"; img0_off = new Image(400,400); img0_off.src="images/006.JPG"; function over_image(parm_name) { document[parm_name].src = eval(parm_name + "_on.src"); } function off_image(parm_name) { document[parm_name].src = eval(parm_name + "_off.src"); } // --End Hiding Here --> </script> <TITLE>Welcome to the Christ Alive Community Church Website</TITLE> </head> <body> <a href="http://www.angelfire.com/caccweb/index2.html" onmouseover="over_image('img0');" onmouseout="off_image('img0')"> <img src="images/006.JPG" border="0" name="img0"> </a> <TABLE> <TR> <TD> <img src="images/006.JPG" WIDTH="400" HEIGHT="400"> </TD> <TD> <img src="images/043.JPG" WIDTH="400" HEIGHT="400"> </TD> </TR> </TABLE> </body> </html> I have some code that will check a users screen resolution and open a new window with a particular version of my website in, I have several sites for different page sizes. But when this code runs in Safari the pop-up is blocked so I would like the image on my page to be a button that runs the code to open the 'correct' window (based on the screen res) and as a button is launching the new window Safari should be okay about it. Unless I am doing something wrong? http://www.meta.projectmio.com/pop.html But how do I modify the code to do this, I'm hopeless? Thanks. Hello everyone, my 1st post here and my 1st day with javascript! I am having some problems with the below script: Code: <html> <head> <title></title> <script type="text/javascript"> var electronics = ["mobiles", "hi-fi"]; var entertainment = ["books", "dvds",]; function check(checkboxid) { document.getElementById(checkboxid).checked = "checked"; } function visiblox(arrDiv, hs) { var disp = (hs) ? "none" : "block"; for(var x = 0; x < arrDiv.length; x++) { document.getElementById(arrDiv[x]).style.display = disp; } } function chk(what, item) { if(item) { visiblox(what, false); } else { visiblox(what, true); } } </script> <style type="text/css"> <!-- .hide { display: block; } .hide { display: none; } --> </style> </head> <body> <img src="images/electronics.png" onclick="check('electronics');"> <input type="checkbox" id="electronics" onchange="chk(electronics, this.checked);" > <br> <input type="checkbox" onclick="chk(entertainment, this.checked);"> Entertainment<br> <br> <br> <div id="mobiles" class="hide">Mobiles</div><br> <div id="hi-fi" class="hide">Hi-Fi</div><br> <div id="books" class="hide">Books</div><br> <div id="dvds" class="hide">DVD's</div><br> </body> </html> Basically what happens is, when you select a checkbox it displays the relevant divs, this works fine with the entertainment checkbox in the code. What I am trying to achieve is use an image to trigger the checkbox (which will be hidden) and the run the chk code to display the divs What actually happens when you click the image the checkbox does become checked, however the divs do not display, if I uncheck the checkbox itself and then check the actual checkbox then it works. Basically getting very frustrated as I can't seem to see whats wrong! I am guessing that for some reason the check code stops the chk running, but I dont know why! Many thanks for any help hi, i want to write a js function which will change images (i have an array of images) on mouse over till the time i have my mouse over the image. i have written function: Code: function changeImage(testImage, source) { var my_array=testImage.split("||"); var actualLen = my_array.length - 2; for (i=0;i<my_array.length;i++) { document.getElementById("lrgPic" + source).setAttribute("src",my_array[i]); setTimeout('',1000); if(i == ( my_array.length - 1 )) { // i = (( my_array.length - 1 ) - i) - 1; // alert(i); } } } but the action i want is: on hovering over the image (location: "lrgPic" in above code) images should keep on changing grabbing the location from array ("my_array" above) and the image change should happen after every sec. i have tried "setTimeout" function; but it's not working as desired. with the code which is commented above.. i want to reset the loop so that images are continuously changed till "onmouseOut" is performed... any clues guys.. how can i improve on this code? with this code.. my script goes in infinite loop.. please help thanks in advance I need to display a set of photos in a limited space. After some online search, I haven't found a suitable Javascript code for the task. I would like to have something similar with the image slider on meetup.com. Basically, I would like to have an image index list and able to display an image in a large size. Any recommendations? Thanks in advance for your inputs. Hi, Firstly, I would like to introduce myself. I am new to the application framework in sencha and JS. Acutally i have to pop an image on click of the text. I checked some of the same codes and wrote this code in sencha javascript. can any one please check what's wrong with this code and let me know how to call this function from html code. function showEditWindow() { var win = new Ext.Window({ title: 'image', width: 100, height: 100, html: '<img src=\"p1.png\"></img>', }); win.show(); return win; }; I am using this fancy box code to smoothly pop up an image on click, I got it working on my main index page but that's not where I want to put it. My site has a menu where it loads webpages inside the main index one, I would like to use the code on one of those pages but something is not working. I am not able to use the specified DOCTYPE but find that it works all the same with my current one, however if I use the given one in addition to the one I have now (and need) then my site does not work properly, further if I replace it I get the same results. My existing doctype: Code: <DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD HTML 4.01//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/html4/strict.dtd" "http://www.w3.org/TR/1999/REC-html401-19991224/loose.dtd" "http://www.w3.org/TR/xhtml1/DTD/xhtml1-strict.dtd"> <html xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml" xml:lang="en" lang="en"> What the code uses: Code: <!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD XHTML 1.0 Strict//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/xhtml1/DTD/xhtml1-strict.dtd"> <html xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml" xml:lang="en" lang="en"> I'm not sure what the differences are but I've been advised that I need to run the code in "standards mode" before I try to fix it. As I see it the code works, just not where I need it to, nothing unusual on my site and nothing unusual that I may be wrong. On my site you can see at the bottom right a blue text link called "aaaa" this is the code that works, however (clicking the dome to the left of that to scroll the page down and selecting the "met.a has guts" menu option diagram) you'll see the "aaaa" link again at the bottom left of that page and that is where I need it to work from. I even tried using the exact code from the example in that linked .htm page but it doesn't make a difference, it probably even hinders the code as it looks at the main html page. But if loading the page on its own the code will work, so its related to the menu and the way that works. If anybody can help that would be brilliant, I'm sure its something simple. Thanks! I am looking for a javascript code for this idea under this message ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- I want to create a kind of shopping website so when you click on a image or text it will add some text to a textarea,, it will include the name of item and price of an item I've got to have a typo somewhere, but i can't seem to find it. I need a new pair of eyes to point it out for me. background: trying to code a mouseover link for a nav bar. everything is working( hyperlink, normal image shows up) but when i mouse over the image swap doesn't happen. I have 2 parts of code. 1st preloads images and does the swap function. loads in <head> See below: Code: <SCRIPT language="javascript" type="text/javascript"> if (document.images) { /* preload images */ var subcontractorsOn = new Image (); subcontractorsOn.scr = "subcontractorsOn.gif"; var subcontractorsOff = new Image (); subcontractorsOff.scr = "subcontractorsOff.gif"; } function mouseOn (imgName) { if (document.images) document [imgName].scr = eval (imgName + "On.scr"); } function mouseOff (imgName) { if (document.images) document [imgName].scr = eval (imgName + "Off.scr"); } </SCRIPT> 2nd just calls the functions to preform the swap. this is in the <body> see code below Code: <a href="subcontractors.htm" onMouseOut="mouseOn('subcontractors')" onMouseOver="mouseOff('subcontractors')"> <img src="subcontractorsOff.gif" height="40" width="133" name="subcontractors" id="subcontractors" border="0" alt="subcontractors"></a> any insight would be great. regards, Fatmann66 This post will contain a few guidelines for what you can do to get better help from us. Let's start with the obvious ones: - Use regular language. A spelling mistake or two isn't anything I'd complain about, but 1337-speak, all-lower-case-with-no-punctuation or huge amounts of run-in text in a single paragraph doesn't make it easier for us to help you. - Be verbose. We can't look in our crystal bowl and see the problem you have, so describe it in as much detail as possible. - Cut-and-paste the problem code. Don't retype it into the post, do a cut-and-paste of the actual production code. It's hard to debug code if we can't see it, and this way you make sure any spelling errors or such are caught and no new ones are introduced. - Post code within code tags, like this [code]your code here[/code]. This will display like so: Code: alert("This is some JavaScript code!") - Please, post the relevant code. If the code is large and complex, give us a link so we can see it in action, and just post snippets of it on the boards. - If the code is on an intranet or otherwise is not openly accessible, put it somewhere where we can access it. - Tell us any error messages from the JavaScript console in Firefox or Opera. (If you haven't tested it in those browsers, please do!) - If the code has both HTML/XML and JavaScript components, please show us both and not just part of it. - If the code has frames, iframes, objects, embeds, popups, XMLHttpRequest or similar components, tell us if you are trying it locally or from a server, and if the code is on the same or different servers. - We don't want to see the server side code in the form of PHP, PERL, ASP, JSP, ColdFusion or any other server side format. Show us the same code you send the browser. That is, show us the generated code, after the server has done it's thing. Generally, this is the code you see on a view-source in the browser, and specifically NOT the .php or .asp (or whatever) source code. i have image button i need to display image .if the size of the image button is 100*100 and image size is 50*50 .the remaining space of the image button should be empty.the image should not stretch. can any one guide me i am new to programming Thanks in advance!!! I'm trying to get my Client Side Firefox DHTML app to display a list of eBooks. For this, i have the following files F:\Textbooks.html F:\eBooks.txt F:\FirstBook.txt F:\SecondBook.txt F:\ThirdBook.txt textbooks.html is my DHTML app eBooks.txt is the Library file with a listing of all of my eBooks. Inside of eBooks.txt is the following data: ----------------- FirstBook.txt, SecondBook.txt, ThirdBook.txt, ----------------- FirstBook.txt to ThirdBook.txt are my actual ebooks.
