JavaScript - Where Is A Javascript Bookmark Feature That's Not For A Desktop Browser?
Several of the iPhone features can be duplicated with Javascript. One such feature I'd like to see is the Bookmark feature. You click on the Bookmark or Favorite button and the page name (of the html page) is saved to a list, just like what you see in modern browsers. Clicking on the list row brings up the bookmarked page. However, the app is not a browser, but made up of html/css/js pages that function from within a /www/ folder of the app.
I've searched for such a script online, but the only ones I see are for desktop browsers (they permit a visitor to click on a link to place the page in the Bookmarks tab or folder of the browser). Does anyone know of a script that'll work on html pages in the iPhone and Android devices? Thanks! Steve Similar TutorialsI am not sure if this is the proper place to ask this or not or even what to ask for. I am very new to this and this is just for learning. The code is not mine. The code is just a blue table with a bookmark option. When I remove the javascript code for the bookmark the blue table disappears. Can anyone tell me why that happens? Code: <html> <body> <table width="95%" align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" bgcolor="#3399ff"> <tr bgcolor="#3399ff"> <td colspan="11" align="right" valign="middle" bgcolor="#3399ff"> <script language="javascript"> <!--blue area below tabs--> //This code is for IE v4 or better if (navigator.appName == "Microsoft Internet Explorer" && navigator.appVersion >= "4.0") {document.write( "<SPAN class='bookmark' onClick='window.external.AddFavorite(location.href, document.title);'>*Bookmark this page*</SPAN>")} //This code posts text if not else {document.write("<span class='bookmark'>book mark this page</span>")} </script> </tr> </table> </body> </html> This is the code exactly how it was sent. I am trying to remove the bookmark option but keep the table the way it is. Anyone have any idea what I am doing wrong? Thank you very much Hi, I have been developing a show/hide feature on my companies web site for some time. I have so much code as to where I am confused when I need to add another slide function. I have provided the URL below to the page where the code exists. http://www.pjm.com/markets-and-opera...assistant.aspx This is where I get lost with the huge amount of code that I have. If you take a look under the second slider named "Electricity Markets" there is another slider underneath named "Energy Market". I need to add three more sliders right underneath in the same format under "Energy Market" If anyone can assists with this that would be great. I should have organized the code a lot better, so now I get lost within the code now. BTW, the show/hide feature really does not display well in Firefox, please try in IE. Thanks! Hello JavaScripters! I was hoping you could help me with an application I'm working on using C# and the .NET Framework that incorporates Javascript. I'm trying to do something similar to to the FireBug / Firefox Inspect Element featu I came across http://www.selectorgadget.com/ which is exactly what I'm trying to do. It's in Javascript and after looking through the source code for the past 2 hours I still don't have a clue how to incorporate it into my program... From what I can tell it uses tokenizing and recursive analysis of DOM elements to figure out CSS selector paths: http://www.selectorgadget.com/stable/lib/dom.js. Here is what I have so far. The javascript code highlights HTML elements such as a <table> tag and changes the border and background color. Code: document.onmouseover = dohighlight; document.onmouseout = dohighlightoff; var BGCOLOR = "#444444"; var BORDERCOLOR = "#FF0000"; // Highlight <table> in grey function dohighlight() { var elem = window.event.srcElement; while (elem!=null && elem.tagName!="TABLE") elem = elem.parentElement; if (elem==null) return; if (elem.border==0) { elem.border = 1; // store current values in custom tag attributes // elem.oldcolor = elem.style.backgroundColor; // store backgroundcolor elem.style.backgroundColor = BGCOLOR; // new background color elem.oldbordercolor = elem.style.borderColor; // same with bordercolor elem.style.borderColor = BORDERCOLOR; var rng = document.body.createTextRange(); rng.moveToElementText(elem); // Make a red border around <table> function dohighlightoff() { var elem = window.event.srcElement; while (elem!=null && elem.tagName!="TABLE") elem = elem.parentElement; if (elem==null) return; if (elem.border==1) { elem.border = 0; // recover values from custom tag attribute values elem.style.backgroundColor = elem.oldcolor; elem.style.borderColor = elem.oldbordercolor; } } Any ideas on how to incorporate the Selectorgadget into my program would be greatly appreciated! Selectorgadget Source Code: https://github.com/iterationlabs/selectorgadget Greetings, I am currently using the websites tutorial about browser detection using the navigator. http://www.javascriptkit.com/javatutors/navigator.shtml I am however finding myself unable to detect a pattern in order to learn from. My aim is to use Browser detection to have a CSS file for each browser type, such as Firefox, IE, Opera, Safari and then an overall CSS file if none of the above, to fix numerous flaws. For IE and Firefox using the site's code is all well and good and while I haven't tested it yet I'm wondering how to set up the coding so that it can detect a safari browser. There are lots of slashes and d's and brackets and I do find myself unable to understand their purpose. So if someone can explain how I could do it for Safari I would be very appreciative. Hello, I have a question what is the best way to identify a browser, browser version and OS in javascript. I have try a few scripts but they all fail. This will help me out formating the code for diferent browsers. Thanks worked it out
Can anyone post Add bookmark script that works fine on all major browsers (IE, FF, Opera, Chrome, safari)? The script should be as compact as possible. All I have found works only on opera or firefox but not both. Thanks We have an html page which brings in content dynmically using Ajax. So the page starts out with certain content, and when a particular link is clicked, the content is swapped out with new content. With this approach, the back button on the browser does not work, because the URL didn't actually change. How could a user bookmark the new page with the second set of content? Is this even possible?
Hi... I am having a problem with the resize... I use the script below to adjust the size of the frame. It works nicely for me. The only problem is, the frame initially jumps to the bookmark, and then on the reload, jumps to the top of the page. Any ideas on how to keep the frame at the bookmark in the web page, instead of jumping back up to the top???? Thanks much in advance.... <script> <!-- function resize_iframe(){ if ( window.frames["MainWindow"].document.body.scrollHeight=0 ) { } else { document.getElementById("MainWindow").height=100 document.getElementById('MainWindow').height=window.frames["MainWindow"].document.body.scrollHeight + 20 } } // --> </script> <IFRAME src="main.htm" frameborder="0" scrolling="no" ID=MainWindow NAME=MainWindow HEIGHT=800 WIDTH=1012 onLoad=resize_iframe();></IFRAME> Hi just wondering if someone could check my code. I have a flash document that is referenced in index.html file below. I want to create book marks to specific pages of the flash file. My code below opens it up at the first page but I want it to open at page 5. Any help would be appreciated? Code: <script language="javaScript"> function loadPage($page) { var load = window.open('/resources/default/html/Mag/index.html?page='+$page,'','scrollbars=no,menubar=no,height=800,width=1280,resizable=no,toolbar=no,location=no,status=no'); } </script> <LI><A href="javascript:loadPage(5)">Face to face1</A></LI> Hello folks, I want to have a combobox with bookmark options. After you select a value from this combobox you can bookmark it with a push button. This should popup a bookmark dialog from the browser bookmark dialog. Can anybody help me? Lets say we have 3 options in the value's. Google, Yahoo, Bing When you select Google and you push Place bookmark you should get a browser bookmark dialog with a title "Google search site". The url would be just http://www.google.com/ I also want Yahoo with the url http://www.yahoo.com/ and the bookmark title Search at Yahoo! and Bing with the url http://www.bing.com and the title Search at Bing I'm looking already for a while for this. Can anybody help me? Thanks in advance! grid Hello! I am trying to find a script that allows you to open multiple browser tabs and then close each of those tabs, either one by one or all at once. Does anyone know how to do this please? Thanks so much for your help. Hello, I've searched high and low for some decent code that will allow a visitor to a website to bookmark the site through a hyperlink. The bookmarking is done through a javascript function that looks like this: Code: function OnBookmarkButtonClick (e) { if (window.sidebar) { // Mozilla Firefox Bookmark window.sidebar.addPanel("TimeSheet", window.document.location,""); } else if (window.external) { // IE Favorite window.external.AddFavorite( window.document.location, "TimeSheet"); } } I need to add some detection for Opera, Safari, and Chrome. Please note that it must be feature detection, not browser detection. But as I said, I've searched high and low for this, and couldn't find anything. Help is much appreciated. Is it there way to set desktop background picture from web page? For example, i have wallpaper.php and there 6 wallpapers, is there javascript to install them directly pb click something on page? I am using the following code for my iframes: Code: <iframe frameBorder="0" height="100%" width="100%" src="http://the.url.com"></iframe> However, when you go to my Desktop sample and click on any of the icons it doesn't load the iframe at 100% height for some reason. You can see that he Code: http://www.zazavi.com/desktop/desktop.html If anyone could tell me what I am doing wrong, it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks for your time! Code: document.getElementById('desktop').onclick = "javascript:alert(1);"; getting very very annoyed at javascript!!! Why doesn't this work!? I am making a site HERE and I was using this: Code: <script> if (/Android|webOS|iPhone|iPad|iPod|BlackBerry|IEMobile/i.test(navigator.userAgent)) { if (document.URL != "http://www.precisionpaintandcollision.net") { window.location = "http://m.precisionpaintandcollision.net"; } } </script> to auto-redirect mobile users to the mobile site and I want to keep that but I want them to be able to view the desktop site without that code affecting them. I know some apps have "force/request desktop site" but i'd like them to be able to just view the desktop site without auto redirecting to mobile site. Is this possible? Thanks -John I have code that I've been using for awhile now that will automatically log users off my site after a period of time. It works great using a 32 bit browser but not at all with a 64 bit browser. For the life of me I can't figure this out. <script type='text/javascript'> var secondsRemaining = 30; var mhcTimer; function countDown() { secondsRemaining -= 1; if (secondsRemaining <= 0) { secondsRemaining = 0; window.location='login.aspx'; } } function startAutoLogoff() { if (mhcTimer) { return false; } else { mhcTimer = setInterval('countDown();', 1000); } } startAutoLogoff(); </script> I'm trying to use SmoothGallery 2.1 on my website as a featured box. I tried opening the demos provided with the code in all browsers to make sure it was compatible and it showed fine in them all. I copied the javascript onto my site and I'm able to show the gallery. However in Chrome and Internet Explorer it shows fine, but Firefox the images are spread vertically down my site and the javascript gallery box doesn't show. I don't understand why this is an issue because it shows fine opening the demo pages and the javascript code and css is a straight copy from the folder :S Can anyone help me out? Website I'm having the issue on is www.deewon.com -Thanks Dear all, can somebody help me with browser compatibility and this code.
