JavaScript - Javascript Function Problem In Page Rendering
Similar TutorialsI have the following javascript function: [ function addNewWindowEvent(evType, fn) { if (window.addEventListener) { this.addEventListener("load", fn, false); return true; } else if (window.attachEvent) { var onload = "onload" this.attachEvent(onload, fn); return true; } else { return false; } } ] which is giving me a an exception every time a page on our site loads. The actual exception in firefox is this: uncaught exception: [Exception... "Could not convert JavaScript argument" nsresult: "0x80570009 (NS_ERROR_XPC_BAD_CONVERT_JS)" location: "JS frame :: https://cms-dev.stchas.edu/global/js/hdvscripts.js :: addNewWindowEvent :: line 5" data: no] and I'm not sure exactly what it's complaining about. I'm relatively new to javascript so diagnosing and fixing this problem has me quite puzzled, and so far I have been unable to find anything helpful when I try and google for information on this. I would appreciate any help or suggestions. Thanks. henryv Hi there, I am having a problem with IE rendering the font of my website poorly, but only when the javascript code is allowed... The website is he www.thelivingsacred.co.uk And as you can see, there is a huge difference between IE8's rendering of the site once the scripts are allowed, and before, as well as a difference between IE8 and Firefox. Please could someone explain what's going on? Hi guys, i have a code where if you press on a word some words disappear and new ones appear and then when you press on the word again everything goes back to normal. I am trying to get it so that after the first click if i press back it should go back to normal instead of having to press the word again but all i am getting at the moment when i press back is the the page with the changed text. Hi, The point is to have a PHP code on the same page as a javascript calling the PHP function. I am able to make this work when the PHP code is on an external file. But when all but XSL are on the same page, it won't do what it should. How to make this work? The PHP is correct as it is by its self. And so is the javascript as it is for calling other PHP code. The combination of these two in this case just won't work. PHP and Javascript: [CODE] <html ><head><title>Untitled 1</title></head> <body> <?php function dateToDayOfWeek($xmlDate, $useFormat = 'l') { $rd = 'Unknown'; if (count($xmlDate) == 1) { $element = $xmlDate[0]; if ($element instanceof DOMElement) { $rd = date($useFormat, strtotime($element->nodeValue)); } } return $rd; } function axasal(){ date_default_timezone_set('UTC'); $xslDoc = new DOMDocument(); $xslDoc->load("xslfile.xsl"); // Here comes the xsl file name. $xmlDoc = new DOMDocument(); $xmlDoc->load("http://free.worldweatheronline.com/feed/weather.ashx?q=milan,italy&format=xml&num_of_days=5&key=af8b2fc417222733111712"); $proc = new XSLTProcessor(); $proc->registerPHPFunctions('dateToDayOfWeek'); $proc->importStylesheet($xslDoc); echo $proc->transformToXML($xmlDoc); } ?> <script type="text/javascript"> function call_php(){ document.getElementById("place").innerHTML="<?php echo axasal(); ?>"; } </script> <form name = "form"> <input type = "button" name = "aaa" id = "aaa" value = "Click me" onclick = "call_php()" /> </form> <div id="place"></div> </body></html> [CODE] XSL: [CODE] <?xml version="1.0"?> <xsl:stylesheet version="1.0" xmlns:xsl="http://www.w3.org/1999/XSL/Transform" xmlnshp="http://php.net/xsl"> <xsl:template match="data"> <html> <head><title></title></head> <body> <table> <tr> <xsl:apply-templates select="./weather" /> </tr> </table> </body> </html> </xsl:template> <xsl:template match="weather"> <td style="width: 97px"> <p><xsl:value-of select="php:function('dateToDayOfWeek', date)" /></p> <p><xsl:apply-templates select="./weatherIconUrl" /></p> </td> </xsl:template> <xsl:template match="weatherIconUrl"> <img> <xsl:attribute name="src"> <xsl:value-of select="." /> </xsl:attribute> </img> </xsl:template> </xsl:stylesheet> [CODE] The smiley face on the second line of the last code is ':' and 'p'. Its driving me mad. I have a javascript-run rotating (as in rotating through a series of content, not rotating in a circle) div. Each content div has an image and a bit of text. The title text - bold arial - is really messy, as though it's a badly pixelated image - smudged, almost. the rest of the text - smaller and not bold - isn't bad, but still doesn't match text outwith these divs. it's fine in firefox, chrome, and even IE6!! Does anyone know what's happening in IE7? My javascript quits working when I am rendering the html? (It works perfectly fine if the page is opened from http address directly). I did some research and concluded that "JavaScript is executed on page load", so when I render my html, my JavaScript functions are not automatically called. My question is how should I call the javascript functions manually? verify.html: Code: <!DOCTYPE HTML PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD HTML 4.01 Transitional//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/html4/loose.dtd"> <HTML> <HEAD> <Title>form</Title> <meta http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html;charset=UTF-8"> <link rel="stylesheet" type="text/css" href="xupload.css"> </HEAD> <BODY> <form id="myform" enctype="multipart/form-data" action="/cgi-bin/upload.cgi" method="post" onSubmit="return StartUpload(this);"> <DIV id="div1"> <b><font id='x_max_files'>?</font> files <font id='x_max_size'>?</font> Mb total maximum</b> <div id="upload_input"><input id="my_file_element" type="file" name="file_1" size=58></div> <div id="files_list"></div> <p align=center><input type="submit" value="Upload Files" class="myForm" id="submit_btn"></p> </DIV> </form> <iframe src="javascript:false;" name="xupload" style="position:absolute;left:-9999px;"></iframe> <script type="text/javascript"> //Specify your form ID var x_form_id = 'myform'; var x_mode = 1; var x_tmpl_name = ''; </script> <script src="xupload.js" type="text/javascript"></script> </BODY> </HTML> config file: Code: htmlverify = "../verify.html" Perl: Code: if(my $verifypage = $g->{CV}{htmlverify}) { # passing variables xxxxx .... # render the page: send_header(); $p->pf($verifypage); } I have a div which toggles visible, ie, it disappears when you click "close" with Code: <a href='#' onclick="toggle_visibility('div1'); toggle_visibility('div2'); return false;" >Close </a> which calls this: Code: function toggle_visibility(id) { var e = document.getElementById(id); if(e.style.display == 'block') e.style.display = 'none'; else e.style.display = 'block'; } The problem I have is that when I click that button, the page jumps down to center on exactly where I clicked. This is really unwanted, I was wondering if anyone could help? Thanks for your time. I have this script which is set to generate random anagrams of my name in rotation which works fine, but I can't work out how to put multiple instances of it on one page. if someone could point me in the right direction i'd be very grateful. thanks the code is var quotations = new Array() quotations[0]= "germaine arnold" quotations[1]= "endearing moral" quotations[2]= "analog reminder" quotations[3]= "regained normal" quotations[4]= "renaming ordeal" quotations[5]= "nominal regrade" quotations[6]= "arraigned lemon" quotations[7]= "ringleader moan" quotations[8]= "mineral groaned" function display() { a=Math.floor(Math.random()*quotations.length) document.getElementById('quotation').innerHTML=quotations[a] setTimeout("display()",5000) } and i'm calling the function using: <div id="quotation"> <SCRIPT type="text/javascript">display()</SCRIPT> </div> Hi, I am facing a problem in passing replace() function as an argument in user defined java function, can any one help me how to resolve it? intention is to pass a file path to my user defined function, but before passing the path i want to replace the character '\' to '\\' I am posting my javascript function he <a href="#" onclick="OpenDocPreview('<%# Eval("PATH")%>'.replace(/\\/g,"\\\\"), '<%# Eval("Filename")%>')"><%# Eval("DocTitle") %></a> function OpenDocPreview(url, docname) { alert('message from search base : ' + url + ' ' + docname); } thank you, I made a mouseover event of a caption on a picture, when I hover the opacity of the background color of the hover and the text goes down. What I want is that when I hover over the image which the caption is floating on, the onmouseover event gets activite. For an imaginary example: Code: function unhighlight(x) { x.style.backgroundColor="transparent" } Function ActivationFuction() { activate.function="unhighlight" } thanks How can I call a PHP Function inside a Javascript Function? This is what I have so far, but I don't think I'm doing it the right way. Any suggestions? PHP Code: <?php function phpQuery(){ $query = mysql_query("INSERT INTO mytable VALUES('','name','email')"); } ?> <script type="text/javascript"> function delayQueries() { timeoutID = window.setTimeout(doQueries, 2000); } function doQueries() { var runQuery = "<?php phpQuery(); ?>"; } </script> I just wrote an essay to discover it had logged me out and I lost everything. Grrrrrrr. Here goes again, simplified this time. I've got a sticky footer at the bottom of the page and a spry collapsible panel which expands to reveal content on mouse over. The problem I'm facing is that the page doesn't scroll down with it, only the scroll bar gets larger to accommodate for a manual scroll down. This is kind of useless because the user might not even realise that there's extra content there in the first place if it's not automatic. My question is, what's the best javascript code to use to automatically scroll the page down when the spry tab is opened and where would I insert it? I've tried all morning with no success so far! Thanks, Nick, I'm copy pasting this post this time round, I don't trust this website now <p> <script type="text/javascript">// <![CDATA[ var metrics = { "mm" : 1, "cm" : 10, "m" : 1000, "inch" : 25.4, "foot" : 304.8 }; function convert(num, dec){ var val = document.getElementById("fromVal").value; if(isNaN(val)){ return } function roundNumber(num, dec) { var result = Math.round( Math.round( num * Math.pow( 10, dec + 1 ) ) / Math.pow( 10, 1 ) ) / Math.pow(10,dec); return result; } document.getElementById("toVal").value = val * metrics[document.getElementById("fromSystem").value]/ metrics[document.getElementById("toSystem").value]; } var interval = null; function watchChanges(){ interval == null ? setInterval("convert()", 500) : clearInterval(interval); } // ]]></script> </p> <table> <tbody> <tr> <td><input id="fromVal" style="width: 100px;" onfocus="watchChanges()" onblur="watchChanges()" type="text" /><select id="fromSystem" onchange="convert()"> <option value="mm">millimeters</option> <option selected="selected" value="cm">centimeters</option> <option value="m">meters</option> <option value="foot">feet</option> <option value="inch">inches</option> </select></td> </tr> <tr> <td colspan="1" align="center">=</td> </tr> <tr> <td><input id="toVal" style="width: 100px;" type="text" disabled="disabled" /><select id="toSystem" onchange="convert()"> <option value="mm">millimeters</option> <option value="cm">centimeters</option> <option value="m">meters</option> <option selected="selected" value="foot">feet</option> <option value="inch">inches</option> </select></td> Hi everyone, I am pretty new at javascript OOP. I have a javascript file that has plenty of javascript functions, variables, arrays, etc. I need to convert this into an object. Here is an example: Code: var myvar1 = ''; var myvar2 = new array(); var myvar3 = new array(); var myvar4; var myvar5 = 60; var myvar6 = ''; function myfunc1(){ myvar1 = 'hello'; return myvar1; } function myfunc2(somenum=0){ myvar5 = somenum; //calling myfunc1() from within this function. //do something in here } function myfunc3(){ //calling myfunc1() from within this function. for(i=0;i<somelength;i++){ myvar2 = myvar3[i]; (something to put into the array) } } 1. I need to create an object and put ALL the varibles (myvar1 - myvar5) in that object. 2. Then the first two functions "myfunc1 and myfunc2" inside the same object. 2. And the function myfunc3 needs to sit OUTSIDE my object as a regular javascript function. It calls on myfunc1 (which is inside the object) and also inserts data into myvar2 (which is classified inside the object) and myvar3 (which is classified inside the object as well). This is what i came up with, but it's not going well: Code: var myobj1 = function(){ this.myvar1 = ''; this.myvar2 = new array(); this.myvar3 = new array(); this.myvar4; this.myvar5 = 60; this.myvar6 = ''; var myfunc1 = function(){ this.myvar1 = 'hello'; return this.myvar1; } var myfunc2 = function(somenum=0;){ this.myvar5 = somenum; //calling this.myfunc1() from within this function. //do something in here } } function myfunc3(){ //calling mynewobj.myfunc1() from within this function. for(i=0;i<somelength;i++){ mynewobj.myvar2 = mynewobj.myvar3[i]; (something to put into the array) } } var mynewobj = myobj1; HELP.....!!!! i really want to get into object oriented world, so thanks in advance. Hi, I am Aditya. I am explaining below the exact scenario where I need the help: I am developing a web application in which I need to integrate a javascript/html editor on some of the web pages and then provide 'Edit' buttons on those web pages so that users can edit the content on that partciular html/jsp page (like editing in wiki pages) and then, when they add some content and click on submit button, the new content should appear on the web page with all the formatting (i.e. bold, italics, color and so on) which was applied by user when he was entering the text. Now, I need help for the below issues: 1. Please suggest me a good javascript/html editor (freely downloadable) which I can use to integrate with my web pages. 2. Once the user has entered some content using the above javascript editor, how to make that content reach the server and update the corresponding web page. I am new to web development, so may be that these questions are too simple. But, I need some help from you. Waiting for your reply, Thanks, Aditya If I use function or Function to create a javascript function, does it make any difference ? Whats the difference between two and in which situation shall I use either ? Likewise whats the difference between event and Event objects of JavaScript ? Thanks <frameset rows="30%,70%> <frame src="page1.html" name="name1" frameborder="0"></frame> <frame src="page2.html" name="name2" frameborder="0"></frame> </frameset> in above code I used page1.html & page2.html as frame. Both include same javascript file having two function name fun1() & fun2(). as both are separate frame both have there own copy function page1.html fun1() fun2() page2.html fun1() fun2() I call fun2() from page2.html and inside that function I want to call page1.html's fun1(). fun1() in page1.html and fun1() in page2.html both return different result because of there global variables. Is there any way to call fun1()-page1.html from the fun2()-page2.html? HI I have tow page and the first page open a new window with javascript(by using window.open).Now I want to call a javascript function that is in the first page from the second page and for that i use parent.function_name but it doesn't work. How can do so? thanks Evening folks I'm -very- green when it comes to Javascript, but I'm working my way up. The problem right now I'm running in to now is when trying to implement a website function that allows two buttons (previous, and next) to do their respective tasks. I can get the script to go forward and back, however when I jump to another page in the frame (this is all through iframes), when clicking either button, it will take me to the last page I had stopped on. A little hard to explain, but maybe seeing the code will give you a better idea. <script type="text/javascript"> var pNum=0; var maxPage=10; function next() { pNum++; if (pNum > maxPage) pNum=10; document.getElementById("frame").src="page"+pNum+".htm"; } function prev() { pNum--; if (pNum < 0) pNum=0; document.getElementById("frame").src="page"+pNum+".htm"; } </script> It's nothing fancy, but it's apparently keeping the last page it was on in memory instead of resetting itself, so when I go back to the start page it starts on page 0 and goes to page 10; right now I can stop on page 5, click a link to go back to the starting default page, and when using the 'next page' button it will start on 6 and go from there. Any help or advice would be appreciated. |
