JavaScript - Locate Rss Feed And Grab Link From Other Website

I'm having difficulties writing a script that should do the following: 1. "visit"/connect to a website 2. search after rss feeds on the site 3. grab the rss link and make it useable for other scripts (array...) So if the user is on www.domain.com/some-directory/another/ the script will work, however if the user is on domain.com/some-directory/another the script won't work, because I've included www. in the variable within the js file. However, if I set it to Code: var ="http://domain.com/file-here.php"; , it will work on domain.com/some-directory/ but not on www.domain.com/some-directory. So basically I need to return the host url somehow, depending on if the user is on the page with www. or without www. so it will always work. With php, I could just use Code: $server['HTTP_HOST']/file-here.php and it will always return www.domain.com or domain.com depending on the URL the user is on, but obviously php won't work in a js file so I'm looking for the correct string/command to get this. Anyone have any idea how to return just the www.domain.com or domain.com portion of the current URL with javascript? Ok so im new to javascript and I have a button in an interface for an app. It's like drag and drop and i want this button to link you to a certain website searching for what the user types in the searchField1 box. The button is button16. Such as you type dogs into the text box and you click the google button among other search engines and it will redirect you to a google search doing a search for dogs. But how do I make this button search google and search for whats in searchField1. I would really appreciate the help. Im looking everywhere to learn this but just cant find it. Here is what I am trying to accomplish: I want to gather the html source code from a particular sports score site and then store specifics of that resulting html (ie: the actual game scores) as strings, which I will then call in a windows sidebar gadget. Aside from actually getting the source code stored as a string, I would need to know how to then find a part of that string (ie: the text between "Last:" and "</") and store it as a separate variable. I would like javascript, or what ever type of code it would take to do this to automatically grab the information. I would like for it to automatically switch the information to the next line when the current event is over and start a countdown from there. This is a lot of coding to do but i just am not THAT familiar with how to write javascript to do this myself. One other thing i would likkeeeee is for the red box on home page to disappear until it is 24 hours until next event, and then automatically close 1 hour after event gets over. I've got this script working for grabbing and scrolling a website, and it's perfect; the only problem is I'd like to disable it when clicking a form (basically, not being able to drag scroll when clicking inside a form or input tag). Also, would there be a way to enable grab scrolling just on the background? I mean, disabling it on images, text and any other element, and just leaving the empty spaces of the website with the ability to scroll. Thanks a lot in advance. I am looking to scan a page, find all the url's on the page. Once I have them, I want to append the front of the url (hardcoded and never changes) with hardcoded code. Like a Find and Replace. for example: locate the front of all the urls which is - wincfprod032 and replace with wincfprod032.jewels I'm trying to get two RSS feeds to display on a page. I'm trying to be good about it and re-use the same code for each by calling the function twice using different parameters for the feed url, feed limit (number of posts to display), and which div to display the output in (cupcake-feed and pie-feed). It works for either of the two feeds, but not both at the same time. If I try calling both, only the second one displays. If I pick just one to call, either one will display. I have this piece of javascript code, which enables me to get my Picasa photos without link back feature, in my webpage. The issue is with the hardcoded RSS url feed. I want this to be dynamically passed as a variable to the java script. I use a PHP code, where this javascript is coded. In the below code, if I say var samples = <?php $url_code ?>, the javascript does not recognize. Sorry, relative newbie here with what is probably a silly question. When I include the code to create a slideshow found here and then later in the page use the feed informer code to display posts from my blog ( <script type="text/javascript" src="http://app.feed.informer.com/digest3/39SQ9SPCHY.js">...)
