I'm getting a method not allowed error in IE8. Code: var selectOptions = document.getElementById('id_employees_cbo'); for (var i=0; i<selectOptions.options.length; i++) { if (selectOptions.options[i].selected == true) { selectOptions.options[i].remove(); break; } } Is there another way to do this? Thanks This is the code that I have:- Code: ListItem[1] = new Option("A List Item", "listitem1"); ListItem[1].style.display = "none"; The first line creates a new entry in the list, I am wanting the second line to remove the same item but it doesn't work. I have tried this:- Code: ListItem[1] = new Option(""); But that leaves a blank line entry in the list Cheers Daniel. I am asking a pretty simple question, but you got to start learning somewhere, you know! Anyway, I have implemented a script that resizes images into small thumbs on the left side of a page and shows the full size image on the right when the user click on a thumb. It works well. However, I have a possible 10 thumbs on theleft and my database that feeds this does not always have 10 images. Since I re-use the page for mutiple listings, I need to find a way to disable the broken image link for listings that don't have 10 thumbs. I have attached a picture of what it looks like. Here is the script: Code: #jgal { list-style: none; width: 200px; } #jgal li { opacity: .5; float:left; display: block; height:60px; width:60px; overflow:hidden; background-position: 50% 50%; cursor: pointer; border: 3px solid #fff; outline: 1px solid #ddd; margin-right: 14px; margin-bottom: 14px; } #jgal li img { height:60px; width:auto; } #jgal li.active img { display: block; } #jgal li.active, #jgal li:hover { outline-color: #bbb; opacity: .99 /* safari bug */ } /* styling without javascript */ #gallery { list-style: none; display: block; } #gallery li { float: left; margin: 0 10px 10px 0; } </style> <!--[if lt IE 8]> <style media="screen, projection" type="text/css"> #jgal li { filter: alpha(opacity=50); } #jgal li.active, #jgal li:hover { filter: alpha(opacity=100); } </style> <![endif]--> <script type="text/javascript">document.write("<style type='text/css'> #gallery { display: none; } </style>");</script> <!--[if lt IE 6]><style media="screen, projection" type="text/css">#gallery { display: block; }</style><![endif]--> <script type="text/javascript"> var gal = { init : function() { if (!document.getElementById || !document.createElement || !document.appendChild) return false; if (document.getElementById('gallery')) document.getElementById('gallery').id = 'jgal'; var li = document.getElementById('jgal').getElementsByTagName('li'); enlargedImg = document.createElement('img'); document.getElementById('jgal').parentNode.insertBefore(enlargedImg,document.getElementById('jgal').nextSibling); enlargedImg.src = li[0].getElementsByTagName('img')[0].src; li[0].className = 'active'; for (i=0; i<li.length; i++) { li[i].style.backgroundImage = 'url(' + li[i].getElementsByTagName('img')[0].src + ')'; li[i].style.backgroundRepeat = 'no-repeat'; li[i].title = li[i].getElementsByTagName('img')[0].alt; gal.addEvent(li[i],'click',function() { var im = document.getElementById('jgal').getElementsByTagName('li'); for (j=0; j<im.length; j++) { im[j].className = ''; } this.className = 'active'; enlargedImg.src = this.getElementsByTagName('img')[0].src; }); } }, addEvent : function(obj, type, fn) { if (obj.addEventListener) { obj.addEventListener(type, fn, false); } else if (obj.attachEvent) { obj["e"+type+fn] = fn; obj[type+fn] = function() { obj["e"+type+fn]( window.event ); } obj.attachEvent("on"+type, obj[type+fn]); } } } gal.addEvent(window,'load', function() { gal.init(); }); And then my list basically looks like this: Code: <ul id="gallery"> <li><img src="images/details/<?php echo $row_WADAitems['ItemThumb5']; ?>" alt="<?php echo $row_WADAitems['ItemDesc5']; ?>"></li> <li><img src="images/details/<?php echo $row_WADAitems['ItemThumb6']; ?>" alt="<?php echo $row_WADAitems['ItemDesc6']; ?>"></li> <li><img src="images/details/<?php echo $row_WADAitems['ItemThumb7']; ?>" alt="<?php echo $row_WADAitems['ItemDesc7']; ?>"></li> <li><img src="images/details/<?php echo $row_WADAitems['ItemThumb8']; ?>" alt="<?php echo $row_WADAitems['ItemDesc8']; ?>"></li> <li><img src="images/details/<?php echo $row_WADAitems['ItemThumb9']; ?>" alt="<?php echo $row_WADAitems['ItemDesc9']; ?>"></li> <li><img src="images/details/<?php echo $row_WADAitems['ItemThumb10']; ?>" alt="<?php echo $row_WADAitems['ItemDesc10']; ?>"></li> <li><img src="images/details/<?php echo $row_WADAitems['ItemThumb11']; ?>" alt="<?php echo $row_WADAitems['ItemDesc11']; ?>"></li> <li><img src="images/details/<?php echo $row_WADAitems['ItemThumb12']; ?>" alt="<?php echo $row_WADAitems['ItemDesc12']; ?>"></li> <li><img src="images/details/<?php echo $row_WADAitems['ItemThumb13']; ?>" alt="<?php echo $row_WADAitems['ItemDesc13']; ?>"></li> <li><img src="images/details/<?php echo $row_WADAitems['ItemThumb14']; ?>" alt="<?php echo $row_WADAitems['ItemDesc14']; ?>"></li> </ul> So as you can see, if I don't have an image in the database that it pulls from, I get that icon for a broken image link. How can I remove that icon so it doesn't show the no image icon? Many thanks! Hi, I have a list setup with links. The list scrolls with the css setting of overflow:auto. However, when a link in the list that is scrolled down to (that is hidden unless scrolled down to) is clicked, I'd like to hold the list at that list item so that the viewer can return to the same line in the list and click the next li. Right now, the list resets to the top after a li link is clicked... I have a feeling this is something simple, but I'm guessing it would be javascript...?? The site to view - click here and then see the left side scrolling list. Thanks!! This is the code that I have, on selecting the first item in the first list it populates the second list with users. What I need to do is create a "value" for each of the items in the second list. Cheers Dan. Code: <html> <head> <title>Create Form Elements</title> <script language="javascript"> <!-- function CreateUsers() { var Primary = document.newforms.site.selectedIndex; if ((Primary == null) || (Primary == 0)) return; if (Primary == 1) { var Users = new Array; Users[0] = new Option("user1"); Users[1] = new Option("user2"); Users[2] = new Option("user3"); Users[3] = new Option("user4"); Users[4] = new Option("user5"); Users[5] = new Option("user6"); Users[6] = new Option("user7"); Users[7] = new Option("user8"); Users[8] = new Option("user9"); Users[9] = new Option("user10"); Users[10] = new Option("user11"); Users[11] = new Option("user12"); Users[12] = new Option("user13"); } for (i=document.newforms.SelectUser.options.length; i>0; i--) { document.newforms.SelectUser.options[i] = null; } for(i=0; i<Users.length; i++) { document.newforms.SelectUser.options[i] = Users[i]; } document.newforms.SelectUser.options[0].selected = true; } </script> </head> <body> <form name="newforms" ID=Form1> Choose Country: <select name="site" onChange="CreateUsers()" ID=Select1> <option value="">Choose Site</a> <option value="site1">Site1</a> <option value="site2">Site2</a> </select> <select name="SelectUser" ID=Select2> <option value="1">Choose User</option> </select> </form> </body> </html> I currently have two html select list boxes side by side on a form, two buttons in between the boxes to move items from list box to the other, and a javascript function to control the movement of the items from one box to the other. Here is the javascript: Code: function MoveSelected(from, to) { var lstFrom = $(from); var lstTo = $(to); for (var i = 0; i<lstFrom.length;i++) { if ( lstFrom[i].selected ) { var elOptNew = document.createElement('option'); elOptNew.text = lstFrom[i].text; elOptNew.value = lstFrom[i].value; try { lstTo.add(elOptNew, null); // standards compliant; doesn't work in IE } catch(ex) { lstTo.add(elOptNew); // IE only } } } for (var i = lstFrom.length-1; i>=0;i--) { if ( lstFrom[i].selected ) { lstFrom.options[i] = null; } } } Here are the two html form select list boxes (lstAvailProd is the starting list box that lists the initial data and lstSelectProd is the destination list box): Code: <td width="10%" valign="center"> <a href="javascript: MoveSelected('lstAvailProd','lstSelectProd');"><IMG SRC="buttons/right_arrow.gif" style="padding-bottom: 2px;" /></a><br /><br /> <a href="javascript: MoveSelected('lstSelectProd','lstAvailProd');"><IMG SRC="buttons/left_arrow.gif" /></a> </td> I was wondering if anyone could tell me how I could modify my code to allow for the selection of all the data in the starting list box by only selecting and moving the first item in the list to the destination list box? The first item is called "All Products", so instead of actually selecting every product in the starting list and moving them to the destination list, I would like the code to see that if the "All Products" list item is moved to the destination list, move all the other list items in the destination list back to the starting list. Here's an example of what the code for each list box looks like: Starting List Box: Code: <select name="lstAvailProd" id="lstAvailProd" multiple="true" size="8" style="width: 250px;"> <option value="-1">{All Products}</option> <option value="1">Product 1</option> <option value="2">Product 2</option> <option value="3">Product 3</option> <option value="4">Product 4</option> <option value="5">Product 5</option> </select> Destination List Box: Code: <select name="lstSelectProd" id="lstSelectProd" multiple="true" size="8" style="width: 250px;"> </select> Any help would be appreciated, thanks!! Hi Guys, i have two different arrays with the same number of element. The 1st array holds the ID's and the 2nd one holds the Items.. i want to use both of them in a Jquery autocomplete plugin.. showing the the 2nd one values but getting the value of the 1st arr. I was wondering if there is a way to combine both in one in Javascript like Arr3 =[arr1, arr2] where i display arr2 elemnt and pass arr1 elements? thanks Hi there, I would like to do the following: When I click on a button, it will set the item in the listbox to be bold. But this will only happen when the user clicks on the desired item to be bold and presses the button. An alert message will occur when he/she presses the button without clicking on the item, stating that the user will need to click on the item. How shoukld I do it in javascript? This is my first javascript game and it's pretty much built of code I've gathered over time and cleaned up. Here's a manipulated screenshot of what I'm trying to accomplish. You're an ant and you want those goodies on the map as quickly as possible! click this link to view a bigger manipulated screenshot click this link to view the goodies (items) The ant is the playable character you control by using the arrow keys. Every time you load the page, or click "restart game", three new items will spawn randomly on the level and the time will be reset to 0 seconds. An arrow key must be pressed to start the time counter and the game itself. There are only 5 items so far, cheese, apple, banana, candy and donut. The items are supposed to be collected as quickly as possible, when the last item has been collected (by simply running over it) the game will end, save the time and display a hi-score list. Time limit is 30 seconds, the game will display a classic "GAMER OVER" if the limit is overrided. Problems I'm trying to solve: 1: Fullscreen mode (and make the ant actually STAY on the screen) I want the game level to adapt itself to the computer screen. The game dimensions are 1000x600px at the moment but the ant does not respect the level dimensions. Screenshot: http://i41.tinypic.com/kc1j81.jpg. I have a feeling about that somekind of percental code has to be implented but I've never done this before. (Please note that the size of the ant and the items will remain as they are) 2: Spawning three items randomly on the level I drew 5 items and saved them as 100x100 PNG. Three of these items have to spawn at a random location on the fullscreen level. The LAST item collected must trigger the time counter to stop. The time will later be used on the hi-score list where he/she can type her nickname. This information will be uploaded to a database. 3: 30 second time limit Letting the time counter reach 30 seconds will trigger a "GAME OVER". The only way to try again is page refresh or "restart game". Code: <html> <head> <style type="text/css"> div#game { width:1000px; height:600px; position:absolute; background:#c3c3c3; } </style> <script type='text/javascript'> // movement vars var xpos = 100; var ypos = 100; var xspeed = 1; var yspeed =1; var maxSpeed = 5; // boundary var minx = 0; var miny = 0; var maxx = 1000; // characters movement field, width var maxy =600; // characters movement field, height // controller vars var upPressed = 0; var downPressed = 0; var leftPressed = 0; var rightPressed = 0; function slowDownX() { if (xspeed > 0) xspeed = xspeed - 1; if (xspeed < 0) xspeed = xspeed + 1; } function slowDownY() { if (yspeed > 0) yspeed = yspeed - 1; if (yspeed < 0) yspeed = yspeed + 1; } function gameLoop() { // change position based on speed xpos = Math.min(Math.max(xpos + xspeed, minx),maxx); ypos = Math.min(Math.max(ypos + yspeed, miny),maxy); // or, without boundaries: // xpos = xpos + xspeed; // ypos = ypos + yspeed; // change actual position document.getElementById('character').style.left = xpos + "px"; document.getElementById('character').style.top = ypos + "px"; // change speed based on keyboard events if (upPressed == 1) yspeed = Math.max(yspeed - 1,-1*maxSpeed); if (downPressed == 1) yspeed = Math.min(yspeed + 1,1*maxSpeed) if (rightPressed == 1) xspeed = Math.min(xspeed + 1,1*maxSpeed); if (leftPressed == 1) xspeed = Math.max(xspeed - 1,-1*maxSpeed); // deceleration if (upPressed == 0 && downPressed == 0) slowDownY(); if (leftPressed == 0 && rightPressed == 0) slowDownX(); // loop setTimeout("gameLoop()",10); } function keyDown(e) { var code = e.keyCode ? e.keyCode : e.which; if (code == 38) upPressed = 1; if (code == 40) downPressed = 1; if (code == 37) leftPressed = 1; if (code == 39) rightPressed = 1; } function keyUp(e) { var code = e.keyCode ? e.keyCode : e.which; if (code == 38) upPressed = 0; if (code == 40) downPressed = 0; if (code == 37) leftPressed = 0; if (code == 39) rightPressed = 0; } </script> </head> <body onload="gameLoop()" onkeydown="keyDown(event)" onkeyup="keyUp(event)" bgcolor='gray'> <!-- level --> <div id="game"></div> <!-- ant character --> <img id='character' src='images/ant.png' style='position:absolute;left:500px;top:500px;height:125px;width:200px;'/> </body> </html> Hi, I'm trying to integrate an address finder (http://www.craftyclicks.co.uk/) into my shopping cart (OsCommerce). I can get it to work but I need to add my own functionality. I'm not very experienced with JavaScript and my head has entered an infinite loop by now. The problem is that the address finder script can change the selected country in a drop-down list depending on the postcode entered by the user (using the onblur event handler). What I need it to do is to remove all other countries depending on the postcode. I can get it to remove all other countries but how do i return to the original list of countries when the postcode is changed again? Once all other counties are removed, the drop-down list will obviously only have one option left... I guess the question is also how does a function remember what it has done before, when it is called again? I have written this short test script as it is easier to work with than the craftyclicks oscommerce contribution: Code: <!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD XHTML 1.0 Transitional//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/xhtml1/DTD/xhtml1-transitional.dtd"> <html xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml"> <head> <title>HTML Template</title> <meta http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html; charset=UTF-8" /> <meta name="description" content="" /> <meta name="keywords" content="" /> <script type="text/javascript"> //<![CDATA[ function store(element) { // store values var cl = element; var text_list = new Array(); var value_list = new Array(); var length = cl.length; for (var foo=0; foo<length; foo++) { text_list[foo] = cl.options[foo].text; value_list[foo] = cl.options[foo].value; alert("text array " + foo + " " + text_list[foo]); alert("value array " + foo + " " + value_list[foo]); } populate(cl, text_list, value_list); } function populate(element, text, value) { // populate options with previously stored values var cl = element; var length = cl.length; cl.options.length=0; for (var bar=0; bar<length; bar++) { cl.options[bar]= new Option(text[bar], value[bar], false, false); } } function crafty_set_country(code) { var cl = document.getElementById('select'); store(cl); for (var i=0; i<cl.length; i++) { if (cl.options[i].value == code) { alert(cl.options[i].value + " found"); var value = cl.options[i].value; var text = cl.options[i].text; cl.options.length=0; cl.options[0]=new Option(text, value, true, true); /* for (var j=0; j<cl.length; j++) { alert("second loop " + cl.options[j].text); if (cl.options[i].value != code) { cl.options[j] } } */ } else { alert(cl.options[i].value); } } } //]]> </script> </head> <body> <form> <select id="select"> <option value="10">ten</option> <option value="20">twenty</option> <option value="30">thirty</option> <option value="40">fourty</option> <option value="50">fifty</option> <option value="60">sixty</option> </select> <input type="button" value="remove" name="button" onClick="crafty_set_country(50)"> <input type="button" value="repopulate" name="button" onClick="crafty_set_country(100)"> </form> </body> </html> Many thanks! Martin Is there a way to remove (not disable and not delete) an option in a "select" list, and restore it later when needed? I have a form with many huge lists ("select" with many "options") that depend on eachother. I am dynamically updating the form through server, and wish to update the list values by sending a mask string. This way I could remove and restore the options without the need to pass the whole list again. I tried many ways but none work: * option.diabled="disabled" is not good because it is still shown * option.style.visibility='hidden' is not good because it is still taking a row * option=null is not good because I will not be able to restore it I need a method similar to the following one for remove/add fields in a form: remove: <field>.style.display='none'; resto <field>.style.display=block'; Thank you!!! Hi, Suppose I have this: Code: <a href="#" class="play" onclick="Audio('lol.mp3')"> As you see, when a user will click on the link, it will play an audio. Good! I want to know if I have another button, let's say <button>Remove</button>, how can I disable the "onClick" event on the link above? And also when clicking on a third button <button>Add</button>again, it will enable the function again to work? NOTE: I do not want an HTML5 audio Stop button. This is different. I just want to know how to enable and disable function event. Thank! I downloaded a popup datepicker from javascriptkit.com. All great but can't take the time out of the footer. I only want the date to show, and once selected, I would like the field to be filled with "Day, Date, Month, Year" (no time). Code is as follows: Code: function show_calendar(str_target, str_datetime) { var arr_months = ["January", "February", "March", "April", "May", "June", "July", "August", "September", "October", "November", "December"]; var week_days = ["Su", "Mo", "Tu", "We", "Th", "Fr", "Sa"]; var n_weekstart = 1; // day week starts from (normally 0 or 1) var dt_datetime = (str_datetime == null || str_datetime =="" ? I'm a complete JavaScript newbie, all I know is some HTML, CSS and little jQuery. Don't be so harsh :P I own and run a forum on a free software called Forumotion. Since these people like getting a lot of revenue, they added a metatag that makes IE8 work like IE7. Here it is. Code: <!-- BEGIN meta_emulate_ie7 --> <meta http-equiv="X-UA-Compatible" content="IE=EmulateIE7" /> <!-- END meta_emulate_ie7 --> This works on only some pages on my forum. However, since we use a lot of CSS and JavaScript codes that IE7 doesn't support (but IE8 does), these pages are completely screwed up. Since they don't offer template editing for some versions (in which this tag can be found), I cannot simply delete this tag (unfortunately). I have come here to ask if there's any way to inhibit, remove, delete and destroy that stupid metatag which is screwing my forum up using JavaScript, jQuery, AJAX, or any other way (except PHP, since it's disallowed...) to do so. Any ideas? Any help will be absolutely appreciated. Thanks a bunch. Hi everybody, I have this File Upload control, whereby the user is granted a limit of 5 uploads. And so, the user clicks on "Attach Another File", and decides to attach a file ONLY in the first File Upload control. My problem is, I want the user to be able to click on an "X" beside every File Upload control, so that it will close those unnecessary (or unused) FIle Upload controls. How do I edit my code in JAVASCRIPT? Please advise. Code: <!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD XHTML 1.0 Transitional//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/xhtml1/DTD/xhtml1-transitional.dtd"> <html xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml"> <head> <title></title> <script language="javascript" type="text/javascript"> var fileCount = 1; function addOneFile() { ++fileCount; var div = document.getElementById("showFile"+fileCount); if ( div != null ) div.style.display = "block"; } </script> <style type ="text/css"> .style37 { color: Black; margin-left: 99px; } </style> </head> <body> <table cellpadding="5"> <tr> <td style="vertical-align: top"> Attachment: </td> <td> <input type="file" name="attachment" id="attachment" style="width:230px" /> <div id="showFile2" style="display: none;"> <input name="file2" type="file" /> </div> <div id="showFile3" style="display: none;"> <input name="file3" type="file" /> </div> <div id="showFile4" style="display: none;"> <input name="file4" type="file" /> </div> <div id="showFile5" style="display: none;"> <input name="file5" type="file" /> </div> <br /> <a href="javascript:addOneFile();" class="style37">Attach another File</a> <br /> (Restricted to 5 uploads) </td> </tr> </table> </body> </html> I want to have another go at Javascript. I have several books on the subject but I find that my eyesight is a major problem. Therefore I want to try an on-line solution, preferably free. I have Googled, but there are so many that I am almost dizzy with the choices. Perhaps someone could recommend one. Not too fussy visually. My knowledge is VERY basic. Frank For example ,There is a "Link" called "go to view" at the bottom of the my page, which is redirecting to http://localhost/test.php . if we use $_SERVER['HTTP_REFERER'] in test.php page It will display the url of the page from which link was clicked. The problem is this my URL can be seen at the target page. This needs to be avoided. How can i do this using javascript ? Hi All, I am really stumped. I am not sure why it's not working. Basically, selecting a country will pre-populate the state field for both billing and shipping sections. Please help! Also, when copying the billing info from shipping, the state field doesn't seem to copy over. I have attached the entire code as a text file (part1 + part2 = complete code). Thanks! |
