JavaScript - Site Content Dependent On Day And Time
I've got no knowledge/experience of javascript, but i'm pretty competent with html and css.
I've put together a site for my University radio statio, and i'd like to have a section that displays the show name thats broadcasting at the time. Can anyone point me towards a script, or tutorial, that might help me out? Thanks in advance! Similar TutorialsI'l not good in Javascript and I can't find anything about what I want.. . On a sports website there is a table with our ranking and results. On this site the content is changed weekly, but it stays in the same tables.. . Is it possible to make a javascript to get those tables and put them on my own website so the content will change on my site when the content is changed on the sports site? Please help me, it would save me lot of time.. . THx You've all seen it before banner codes/rss feed displayers/twitter feeds/etc etc all you do is copy and paste a <script src="http://somewebserver/display.js"></script> somewhere on your website and it retrieves the html from the remote server and displays it on your site. My question as simple as it sounds is how the hell does this stuff work? I have a back end php page that pulls the required information from my DB based off a userid passed to it ie: mywebserver.com/display.php?id=xxxx Is the javascript just a simple ajax call to my php page passing straight on the userid passed to it or is there something more complex to it? I was always under the impression you couldn't do remote ajax calls to a page on a different server, which if I get this right a script off my server included on another domain becomes a member script of that domain and not my own? when someone selects a date it shows ok in the field but the checker script can not view it for some reason, i have an alert show the content, if i place the alert before everything it unblurs and the tick shows, but i have to click the alert off for the tick to show. The alert show nothing on the first run. just a thought, but would the DOM not be updating quick enough for the next line to read the content ? reason i ask is that with the alert line in the code it shows the previous state of the field when i change the date to something else. Code: <!DOCTYPE HTML PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD HTML 4.01 Transitional//EN"> <html> <head> <title>Untitled Document</title> <meta http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html; charset=iso-8859-1"> <script type='text/javascript'> function checkValidFormInput() { redX = '<img alt="Invalid" src="images/redX.png" style="width: 18px;">'; greenTick = '<img alt="Valid" src="images/icongreentick.png">'; alert('.' + document.getElementsByName('j1date')[0].value + '.'); document.getElementsByName('j1date').blur(); if (document.getElementsByName('j1date')[0].value == '') { document.getElementById('j1dateImg').innerHTML = redX;// } else { document.getElementById('j1dateImg').innerHTML = greenTick;// } } </script> </head> <body> <? // for some strange reason the following lines need to be here for the date picker to work! ?> <table class="ds_box" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" id="ds_conclass" style="display: none;"> <tr><td id="ds_calclass"></td></tr> </table> <script type="text/javascript" src="datetimepicker.js"></script> <? // end of date picker storage ?> <form method="POST" action="index.php"> <li class="value"> <input type="text" autocomplete="off" name="j1date" id="j1date" value="<?=$j1date;?>" style="width: 200px; float: left;" onClick="ds_sh(this);" onBlur="checkValidFormInput();"> <div style="float: left;" id="j1dateImg"></div><br style="clear:both"> </li> </form> </body> </html> attached is the datetimepicker.js you will need to remove the last part .txt from the above file name I am working a form with radio button and calendar. What I would like to do is when the user selects Done - be able to display the calendar and if Not Done is selected, disable the calendar. Here is my code: <tr> <td class="tajuk_kecil"><div align="right">Status </div></td> <td class="tajuk_kecil"><div align="center">:</div></td> <td> <label><input name="status" type="radio" value="Done" checked>Done </label> <label><input name="status" type="radio" value="Not Done">Not Done</label> </td> </tr > <tr> <td class="tajuk_kecil"><div align="right">Date</div></td> <td class="tajuk_kecil"><div align="center">:</div></td> <td> <?php $myCalendar = new tc_calendar("date5", true, false); $myCalendar->setIcon("calendar/images/iconCalendar.gif"); $myCalendar->setDate(date('d'), date('m'), date('Y')); $myCalendar->setPath("calendar/"); $myCalendar->setYearInterval(2000, 2015); $myCalendar->dateAllow('2008-05-13', '2015-03-01'); $myCalendar->setDateFormat('j F Y'); $myCalendar->writeScript(); ?> </td> </tr> Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanx I have my cumulative totals box at the very end of my order form and I'm required to have another underneath that one that will give a particular discount depending on how great the total of the order is. Would someone please be able to give me the javascript codes that will allow me to do this and also tell me where I'm to put them. Hullo again, CF.com, So, now I have a curious question on arrays, selections, options and the like. My current project is available for perusal in order to assist me at: http://www.projectvoid.co.uk/ As you can see, I make it so that once the product type is selected, you can then select a wattage. This dependent drop-down works, however I want it so that when I select a value in the left-hand side (wattage), then the one on the right will offer a pre-defined value that replaces the wattage I have. For example, a GU-10 in 'Type of Lamp' offers a 50, 35 and 20 watt bulb in 'Current Lighting Products'. In 'Energy Efficient Products', it offers 5 and 3. I wish to make a statement somewhere so that if they select 50 on the left, it selects 5 on the right. If they select 35 on the left, it select 3 on the right. I would also like it to do multiple offers, so that if they select say, a 35 of the MR-16, I want the right hand side to offer both 5 and 3. The only way I can think of doing this is via a lot of 'IF' statements. Is there a quicker way to do this? Please assist and, if it's not too much to ask, could you comment the code? Thank you! Code: I have to create two dropdownlists that are dependent In my first select tag there are 4 selections ,,, year, quarter, month and week. and in second select it should automatically populate..If user select year from first select in second select values should be 1 to 365.. if quarter values in second select(dropdown) should be 1 to 4. if month 1 to 12 and if week is selected 1 to 7.. can anyone help me to achieve this.. I will post that code and please help me to resolve this error as iam naive user to javascript.. <select id="user_defn_uom" name="user_defn_uom" onchange="alert(this.options[this.selectedIndex].text)" align="center"> <option selected value=""> <option value="Yearly">Yearly <option value="Quarterly">Quarterly <option value="Monthly">Monthly <option value="Weekly">Weekly </td> <td>. <select name="user_defn_day" align="center"> <option selected value=""> <script type="text/javascript"> alert(this.options[this.selectedIndex].text) for (var i = 1; i <=366; i++) { document.write('<option value="' + i + '">' + i + '</option>'); } </script> </select> Hi Experts, i have 2 JS array and i need to have dependency between them knowing that 1st Array has parent element of the 2nd one. i.e ARRAY1 ID VAL ID2 2 Dep1 10 3 Dep2 20 4 Dep3 30 ARRAY2 ID VAL ID2 PARENT 20 team1 11 10 21 team2 12 10 22 team3 13 20 23 team4 14 30 i need to have two different DDL's where when i choose VAL = Dep1 on ARRAY1 , i should see on the 2nd DDL only elements with parent corrsponding to Dep1 ( PARENT =10). how this can be possible thanks I have an ajax dependent drop down set up for location fields and am having trouble figuring out how to clear the dependent selects if the parent select is changed to blank. I set up a function to clearFields: Code: <script> function clearFields() { document.getElementById('cb_state').value = ""; } </script> And then set the parent to clearFields onchange: Code: onchange='ajaxFunction();clearFields();' This doesn't clear the field, but even if it did it would clear the field on change regardless of what's selected, what I need is for the function to fire only if the blank option is selected. How do I need to go about this? Here's part of the code, problem I have is I have it set up for 5 rows, I need it to be able to make more than this, but not sure how many more, this is dependent on user input, how should I go about this? Also how would I go about making the users orders correspond with the right item number? I'd need to sort the array somehow? document.write('<table border="1">'); document.write("<tr>"); document.write('<th colspan="5">ORDER</th>') document.write("</tr>"); document.write("<tr>"); document.write('<th align="left">Item #</th>'); document.write('<th align="center">Name</th>'); document.write('<th align="center">Price</th>'); document.write('<th align="center">Quantity</th>'); document.write('<th align="center">Total</th>'); document.write("</tr>"); document.write('<td align="center">0</td>'); document.write('<td>' + productName[0] + '</td>'); document.write('<td> $' + sausagePrice + '</td>'); document.write('<td> ' + orderItemQty[0] + '</td>'); document.write('<td> ' + sausageTotal + '</td Hi Code: var err_str=""; function validate_grid(value,id,ind) { $("#result").html(" ").show(); if(ind==1 || ind==2) { var patt=/^([0][0-9]|[1][0-9]|[2][0-3])[:]{1}[0-5][0-9]$/; if(!patt.test(value)) { mygrid.setCellTextStyle(id,ind,"background-color:yellow;"); if(err_str!="") err_str+="\n"+(ind+1)+".Enter numbers and : only.."; else err_str=(ind+1)+".Enter numbers and : only"; return false; } else { mygrid.setCellTextStyle(id,ind,"background-color:white;"); return true; } } } alert(err-str); here ind==1 is from_time and ind==2 is to_time,i need to validate time as to_time must be always greater than from-time,if condition fails an alert msg should populate.time format is[05:00]as it is in string format im unable to do the validation for it.(ex:from-time=08:00 to-time=07:59 condition fails) thank you. However, I want to achieve to display the time difference between a given start and end time. Right now, it calculates from the current server time to the end time. I want to be able to set up my own start time and end time. Here is what I have: http://jsfiddle.net/BgEtE/ thank you for help hi, can some one help me how to get the time and date difference? given two time and date with the following format like in textbox A: 2011-05-03 17:35:47.0 and textbox B: 2011-05-03 16:35:47.0 then the output would be: 0 days, 1 hour, 0 minutes, 0 seconds regards, verve I'm not really a Java writer, so I don't know how to do this myself, though I imagine it would be pretty simple. I am looking to add a script to a webpage that allows users to input a time manually, and have it converted to GMT/Zulu time and display the converted time. I have seen a lot of time zone conversion scripts online, but they all just convert whatever the current system time is to another time zone. I am looking for a script that allows users to convert a time and show the zulu time, for times other than the current time. The time zone the inputed local time would be in is +4:30 (Kabul). I don't really care about style or aestehtics, just a simple script I can insert into a web page to have a time input field. The converted output time can appear in another field, a popup bubble, etc, again style isn't really an issue. It's really just to help people in my job who need to know what the GMT/Zulu time was for certain local times after the fact. One would think it shouldn't be that hard to just subtract 4:30 in your head, but apparently it is. Sorry if just asking for code outright like this is frowned upon. This is my first time doing JavaScript I don't what I did wrong here, but the problem its not showing up the current date and time. Code: <script language = "JavaScript" type="text/javascript"> now = new Date(); localtime = now.toString(); utctime = now.GMTString(); document.wite("<b>localtime</b>" + localtime + "</br>"); document.write("<b>utctime</b>" + utctime); </script> This is what supposed to look like I have tried using different browser chrome,IE9,Maxtor, and Opera my OS is Win7 Hi all, I am using xmlhttp.open();xmlhttp.send(); to send a php content to a div. This php content is again using the same method to get php content from a further page. The content of the div, does not seem to be using the css and javascript files defined in the calling pages <head> section. Does anyone know why this is? Is there a workaround or solution to this problem? It might be easier to understand looking at the code, so Background info: Javascript file: scripts.js client.php ----> loads data from: display_client.php display_client.php ----> loads data from: display_brand.php Code: client.php http://pastebin.com/4EFn9YRf display_client.php http://pastebin.com/BGZAKre2 display_brand.php http://pastebin.com/0a4Pg3gg scripts.js http://pastebin.com/er4dkmPc Thanks!
