JavaScript - A Form Within Javascript, Breaks My Page
here is my code
Code: <ul id="myList" class="myList"> <form method="post" action="somepage"> <li id="item_1"> <a href="#"><img src="images/build/handle.jpg" alt="handle" border="0" /></a> Link Group </li> <li id="item_2"> <a href="#"><img src="images/build/handle.jpg" alt="handle" border="0" /></a> Page Group </li> <li id="item_3"> <a href="#"><img src="images/build/handle.jpg" alt="handle" border="0" /></a> SEO </li> <li id="item_4"> <a href="#"><img src="images/build/handle.jpg" alt="handle" border="0" /></a> <script type="text/javascript"> tinyMCE.init({ mode : "textareas", theme : "advanced" }); function toggleEditor(id) { if (!tinyMCE.get(id)) tinyMCE.execCommand('mceAddControl', false, id); else tinyMCE.execCommand('mceRemoveControl', false, id); } </script> <textarea name="content" style="width:96%"> </textarea> <a href="javascript:toggleEditor('content');">Add/Remove editor</a> </li> </form> </ul> <p id="myList_serialize"></p> <script type="text/javascript" language="javascript" charset="utf-8"> Sortable.create('myList',{ghosting:false, constraint:true, hoverclass:'over', onChange:function(element){ var totElement = 7; var newOrder = Sortable.serialize(element.parentNode); for(i=1; i<=totElement; i++){ newOrder = newOrder.replace("myList[]=",""); newOrder = newOrder.replace("&",","); } $('myList_serialize').innerHTML = '<strong>New Order</strong>: '+newOrder; } }); </script> I some draggable li's which works fine, I have a tinyMCE WYSIWYG editor which works fine! How can I add a form to my UL LI? Similar Tutorialsi am dynamically making pdf files, works great using abcpdf etc etc. the only problem that i am having is with the page breaking. i want to create a function that runs onload and can read the position of elements and add breaks before the element if it is cut off. each block ("from the west", "holiday inn express") is a span with the class name of "entry" i want to loop through those, get their height, add them together and if that span falls in the range of the page size (792px) add a page break before it. the difficult part will be when we get to pages 2 and above does that make sense? im throwing around some ideas now in a js file, if you have any please post them thanks I am trying to get a site working that some hack developed. Got it nearly operational, except for one page, the down arrows do not work. They fire via javascript. It is just a hover and scroll deal. The java gets loaded the same for every page, but it breaks on this one. I am decent with some coding, but I know I am light years behind the smart people in this forum, especially when it comes to java. I really could use a hand. Thanks Working scroll: http://66.147.244.241/~finalco1/inde...mation-fm.html The broken scroller: http://66.147.244.241/~finalco1/inde...act-us-fm.html I've got a page (hrnewseastanglia.com) where I have to use a jquery function to stretch the body to the user's window height if it isn't already. In the same code I also use a condition that if the body is bigger than the user's window, the content has a padding to stop it going over the grass. The reason I need to do the resize is because I have a background image that needs to sit at the very bottom of the page (with no bar or gap below it). The reason the padding can only exist when the body is bigger than the window is because it will put a scrollbar on pages that shouldn't have them. It works great, but the only trouble is that if somebody decides to resize their window on a page that fits in it - it breaks. This is my script: Code: <script type="text/javascript"> $(document).ready( function() { stretch_portal_content(); $(window).resize( stretch_portal_content ); }); function stretch_portal_content() { // if the body isn't at least as big as the user's window - force it to be if( $(window).height() > $('body').height() ) { $( '#wrapper' ).height( $(window).height() - ( $('body').height() - $('#wrapper').height() ) ); } // if the content goes beyond the window make sure it doesn't go beyond the grass at the bottom if( $(window).height() < $('#wrapper').height() ) { $( '#wrapper' ).css("padding-bottom", '130px'); } } </script> I've been scratching my head over this for hours but haven't come up with a solution. If anyone can help I'd really appreciate it! The title says it all really. An example of the cufon breaking is when I add a product to my cart, example here http://joemeetsjoy.com/products When you click buy now then click ok on the pop up box the cufon breaks. It also happens if you go the the shopping cart and choose a shipping option. Any ideas why this happens. Thanks I have a form with allot of form items on it that posts to itself. I am trying to pass those form values to another page with out using the action attribute in the form. Is there a way to do this? I have tried jquery and javascript but coming up blank. Just trying to pass all the values at one time to another page. Seems a little difficult to me since im a intermediate javascript programmer. Any ideas are welcome and thank you in advance if someone knows how to get this going. Here is what i am trying to do script wise. theform is the ID of the form. I have a switch statement that is based on the button pressed would get into that statement. So if one of the three buttons on the page is "excel report" it should get into that statement and pass the values of the form to another page. I have tried this: Code: <cfswitch expression="#LCase(Trim(FORM.submit))#"> <cfcase value="Excel Report"> <cfoutput> <script> function formSubmit() { var form = document.forms.theForm; // change the url form.action ="index.cfm?keyword=Report PDF New"; form.submit(); } </cfoutput> </script> </cfcase> </cfswitch> AND This: Code: <cfswitch expression="#LCase(Trim(FORM.submit))#"> <cfcase value="PDF Report"> <script> $('##submit').click(function(){ open('',"results"); with(document.print) { method = "POST"; action = "index.cfm?keyword=Report PDF New"; target = "results"; submit(); } }); </script> </cfcase> </cfswitch> Hello Coding Forum gurus, I'm hoping to find some help here with a javascript order form. I am currently working on a javascript form that requires field validation as well as a summary page (order confirmation) after every field is entered correctly. At this point I am satisfied with the field validation portion of the script, however, I am not sure how to call a function to display the summary page. here is a description of my dilemma: To begin, the field validation functions are called by the form's onsubmit event handler. Which then works it way through several text field validation functions. After the script finishes validating and checking each field for acceptable input, how do I call a function to display a summary page of the order form? On a side note, the only programming experience I have ever had is with javascript. I have never taken any other programming classes, and I am fairly new to this. Any help would be appreciated. Not sure if I am allowed to post the entire script here or not but I'd be willing to send to anyone that would like to take a look, HUGE THANK YOU in advance to anyone that takes time out of their busy schedules to take a look. I want to use Javascript to submit a form - without filling the form in physically Is this possible? Let's say a web page has a form that submit First Name and Last Name to the next page Instead of filling in the form and hitting submit, can I submit the data in variables and call the next page somehow using Javascript? Thanks OM Hello Friends In my jsp,Struts project i am using the javascript calendar control for selecting the date and by using function calcage() i am calculating the age of the user but problem occurs when the page refreshes OR when user updated the other values such as name ,contact no. Then the value of the age is set as 0 in the textfield as 0 So can you please tell me why this problem occurs And please give me solution Thanks Hi, I am Aditya. I am explaining below the exact scenario where I need the help: I am developing a web application in which I need to integrate a javascript/html editor on some of the web pages and then provide 'Edit' buttons on those web pages so that users can edit the content on that partciular html/jsp page (like editing in wiki pages) and then, when they add some content and click on submit button, the new content should appear on the web page with all the formatting (i.e. bold, italics, color and so on) which was applied by user when he was entering the text. Now, I need help for the below issues: 1. Please suggest me a good javascript/html editor (freely downloadable) which I can use to integrate with my web pages. 2. Once the user has entered some content using the above javascript editor, how to make that content reach the server and update the corresponding web page. I am new to web development, so may be that these questions are too simple. But, I need some help from you. Waiting for your reply, Thanks, Aditya I have a order form page and on submitting it opens a new web page that displays the order totals. Below is my code and most probably wrong but for me it seems logic. Please assist. Order Form: Code: <td colspan="1" height="120" align="left"> <select style="margin-left: 60px; background-color: #00FF77;" name="prod_bed_359" onchange="calculateValue(this.form)"> <option value="0">0</option> <option value="1">1</option> <option value="2">2</option> <option value="3">3</option> <option value="4">4</option> <option value="5">5</option> </select> R359</td></tr> New page I called a unction to print: Code: function itemsOrdered() { var beds = document.forms[2].prod_bed_359.value; document.write("<pre><strong>Description\t\tQuantity\tPrice</strong></pre>"); document.write("<pre>Doggie Bed\t\t" + beds + "</pre>"); } This is still basic as I need to get this right before adding the prices and totals which is also extracted from the order page. I've literally tried everything. Read 26 tutorials, interchanged code, etc. My validation functions all work. My AJAX functions work (tested manually using servlet URL's). The second servlet validates the reCaptcha form that's generated on my webpage. After the form is validated, even if everything's correct, nothing happens upon clicking submit. I even have an alert pop up if with the captcha result, just for middle-layer debugging purposes. I want to do all of my validation clientside; none serverside. However, going to be tough if I can't get my god damn form to submit. I've been puzzled by this for close to 36 hours straight. I can't see, and I'm going to get some rest and hope that there is some useful insight on my problem when I return. html form: Code: <form id="f1" name="form1" onsubmit="validate_form(this); return false;" action="register" method="post"> <table cellspacing="5" style="border: 2px solid black;"> <tr> <td valign="top"> <table cellspacing="5"> <tr> <td>*First name</td> <td align="right"><span id="valid_one"></span></td> <td><input type="text" style="width: 320px;" id="fn" name="fn" onBlur="validate_one();"></td> </tr> <tr> <td align="left">*Last name</td> <td align="right"><span id="valid_two"></span></td> <td><input type="text" style="width: 320px;" id="ln" name="ln" onBlur="validate_two();"></td> </tr> <tr> <td align="left">*Email address</td> <td align="right"><span id="result"></span></td> <td><input type="text" style="width: 320px;" id="mailfield" name="email" onBlur="startRequest();"></td> </tr> <tr> <td align="left">*Phone number</td> <td align="right"><span id="valid_three"></span></td> <td><input type="text" style="width: 320px;" id="pn" name="pn" onBlur="validate_three();"></td> </tr> <tr> <td align="left">*City/Town</td> <td align="right"><span id="valid_four"></span></td> <td><input type="text" style="width: 320px;" id="c" name="c" onBlur="validate_four();"></td> </tr> <tr> <td></td> <td></td> <td> <select name="s"> <option value="AL">Alabama <option value="AK">Alaska <option value="AZ">Arizona <option value="AR">Arkansas <option value="CA">California <option value="CO">Colorado <option value="CT">Connecticut <option value="DE">Delaware <option value="FL">Florida <option value="GA">Georgia <option value="HI">Hawaii <option value="ID">Idaho <option value="IL">Illinois <option value="IN">Indiana <option value="IA">Iowa <option value="KS">Kansas <option value="KY">Kentucky <option value="LA">Louisiana <option value="ME">Maine <option value="MD">Maryland <option value="MA">Massachusetts <option value="MI">Michigan <option value="MN">Minnesota <option value="MS">Mississippi <option value="MO">Missouri <option value="MT">Montana <option value="NE">Nebraska <option value="NV">Nevada <option value="NH">New Hampshire <option value="NJ">New Jersey <option value="NM">New Mexico <option value="NY">New York <option value="MC">North Carolina <option value="ND">North Dakota <option value="OH">Ohio <option value="OK">Oklahoma <option value="OR">Oregon <option value="PA">Pennsylvania <option value="RI">Rhode Island <option value="SC">South Carolina <option value="SD">South Dakota <option value="TN">Tennessee <option value="TX">Texas <option value="UT">Utah <option value="VT">Vermont <option value="VA">Virginia <option value="WA">Washington <option value="WV">West Virginia <option value="WI">Wisconsin <option value="WY">Wyoming </select> </td> </tr> <tr> <td> <br> </td> </tr> <tr> <td></td> <td></td> <td><span id="error"></span></td> </tr> <tr> <td valign="top">*Anti-Spam Verification</td> <td></td> <td id="reCaptcha"></td> </tr> </table> </td> <td valign="top"> <table cellspacing="5"> <tr> <td align="left">*Affiliation</td> <td align="right"><span id="valid_five"></span></td> <td><input type="text" style="width: 320px;" id="affl" name="affl" onBlur="validate_five();"></td> </tr> <tr> <td align="left">*Research Area:</td> <td align="right"><span id="valid_six"></span></td> <td><input type="text" style="width: 320px;" id="ra" name="ra" onBlur="validate_six();"></td> </tr> <tr> <td valign="top" align="left">*Research Overview</td> <td align="right"><span id="valid_seven"></span></td> <td><textarea cols="38" rows="6" id="ro" name="ro" onKeyDown="limitText(this.form.ro,this.form.countdown,500)" onKeyUp="limitText(this.form.ro,this.form.countdown,500)" onBlur="validate_seven();"></textarea></td> </tr> <tr> <td></td> <td></td> <td><font size="1">You have <input readonly type="text" name="countdown" size="1" value="500"> characters remaining.</font></td> </tr> <tr> <td align="left">*Talk Availability</td> <td></td> <td> <input type="radio" name="ta" value="In person">In person <input type="radio" name="ta" value="Online">Online <input type="radio" name="ta" value="Both" checked>Both </td> </tr> <tr> <td align="left" valign="top">Links</td> <td></td> <td> <table id="linkTable" border="0"> <td><input type="text" style="width: 320px;" name="link"></td> <td><div id="result"></div></td> </table> </td> <td align="left" valign="top"><input type="button" value="Add Link" onclick="addLink('linkTable')"></td> </tr> <tr> <td></td> <td><span style="color: red;"></span></td> </tr> </table> </td> </tr> </table> <br /> <input type="submit" id="submit" name="submit" value="Submit Form"> </form> Javascript file: Code: /* * script.js - ajax and table functions */ var xmlHttp; I work at a call center, and we use different webapps to fill out tickets. One I've used for a long time allows dynamically updating forms with javascript. I have a whole bunch of bookmarked javascript injections like: Code: javascript:if((top.detail.findObj('X31').value="Inquiry")!=""); That code will fill out most everything in that ticket, leaving me to fill in the details. I have one of those for all of the most common tickets, and can create and finish a ticket in less than 30 seconds when it takes others 3-4 minutes. I recently switched to a different system and I'm having trouble with my code. I'm a noob at javascript for sure, but I'm not new to programming. Anyway any pointers would be nice. The system we use doesn't allow me to see the source... I'm not sure how to explain it. It loads everything in a frame. In chrome I can right click then inspect element and get the ID but it the above javascript doesn't work. Examples: Old app source ex: Code: <label for="X31">Category:</label> was all i needed new app(before the body code is just code for the login form, etc): Code: <body onLoad="startit()" onUnload="stopit()"> </body> <div align="center" valign="center" id="LoadMessageID" style="position: relative; top:40%; color:#0069A5; font-size:100% ;"> <img src="/arsys/shared/images/Progress_NonModal-circle.gif" alt="wait image"/> Loading... </div> </html> formloader: Code: <form name="form1" action="/arsys/forms/bmcitsm/HPD:Incident+Management+Console/Default+User+View+(Support)/?cacheid=a22a36a8" method="post"> example of inspect element in chrome (something i want to change with javascript injection): Code: <input id="arid301602600" type="text" class="text " style="top:0; left:0; width:225; height:21;" readonly=""> Hello, I don't know if this can be done in Javascript, or requires any other language but i was wondering if this would be possible. I would like to embed this Javascript code in to a PHP file and then for it to run automatically upon the PHP file loading: Code: <td class="smallDesc"> <a name="fb_share" type="button_count" href="http://www.facebook.com/sharer.php">Share</a><script src="http://static.ak.fbcdn.net/connect.php/js/FB.Share" type="text/javascript"></script> </td> The Javascirpt is the Facebook Share button that basically allows users that have Facebook to share the page there currently on in their Facebook status by pressing the button, but if there not logged in it shows the login page, not a problem just continue the script. The current button i which is what i want to load automatically in the PHP file is located here, to test the functionalilty just click "Share" button in blue.. http://watch-movies-online.anyfilman...-Movie-17.html To summarise, i would like the above Javascript code to execute automatically upon pageload of this PHP file.. http://www.watch-movies-online.anyfi...p://google.com. If that could be done, and if this also is possible.. i would like for the "Share" button on the external page that is loaded from the Javascript code above to be clicked automatically so in effect when ever someone visits the PHP page after clicking "Click Here to Watch/Stream 2012 Online For Free" on this page it will automatically load the Facebook Share box, and automatically click the "Share" Button and then close the page if possible, but not required. Please feel free to ask any questions, i'll be happy to answer. Thanks in advance. Best Regards, Jonathan. hello guys the idea is to make "offline" bill of lading i used to do php thing and well this time i only need to kinda make bill of lading generator so i want to pass value from page 1 to page 2 and to page . all offline without web server interaction i was never fluent in javascript and i wanted to get a quick start from you guys how do i pass the form ( javascript variable from 1 page to another page ) i am googling this as well right now and hoping answer from codingforums thanks Hi All, I am not sure if this is the right place for this question. I'm fairly certain that my problem can be resolved with some JS, but I'm not 100% so please forgive me if this thread does not belong here. Anyhoo, here goes.... I have a site i'm building in Joomla! 1.5. I've got a form on page A and an iframe on page B. The iframe src is an asp page that returns real estate listing details based on values passed to the asp page in the URL. for example: http://www.hostOfAspPage.com/aspPage...&minprice=500k I figured out how to create a form on page B that changes the src of the iframe by setting the target to the name of the iframe. so that works fine. but now, i want to put a similar form on the home page. Please see the following diagram...hopefully it explains what i'm trying to do. http://webwraps.com/changeiframesrc.jpg so here is my question... Is it possible to use JS (or maybe php?) to create a URL based on the values in the form on page A and then take the visitor to page B while changing the src of the iframe on page B to be the newly created URL? if so, how? existing iframe code: <iframe name="resultsiframe" src="URL-ONE"></iframe> desired new iframe code (after form on page A is submitted): <iframe name="resultsiframe" src="URL-TWO"></iframe> Thank you very much for your time. I have the following code: Code: <script> $(function() { var inputArr = new Array("#register_id #username_id", "#register_id #email_id", "#register_id #password1_id", "#register_id #password2_id", "#signin_id #email_id", "#signin_id #password_id"); var inputToOverlayDict = new Array(); inputToOverlayDict[inputArr[0]] = "#register_id #usernameOverlay_id"; inputToOverlayDict[inputArr[1]] = "#register_id #emailOverlay_id"; inputToOverlayDict[inputArr[2]] = "#register_id #passwordOverlay1_id"; inputToOverlayDict[inputArr[3]] = "#register_id #passwordOverlay2_id"; inputToOverlayDict[inputArr[4]] = "#signin_id #emailOverlay_id"; inputToOverlayDict[inputArr[5]] = "#signin_id #passwordOverlay_id"; var i; for(i=0; i<6; i++) { $(inputArr[i]).focus(function() { $(inputToOverlayDict[inputArr[i]]).hide(); }); } /* $(inputArr[0]).focus(function() { $(inputToOverlayDict[inputArr[0]]).hide(); }); $(inputArr[0]).blur(function() { if($(this).val().length == 0) $(inputToOverlayDict[inputArr[0]]).show(); }); $(inputArr[1]).focus(function() { $(inputToOverlayDict[inputArr[1]]).hide(); }); $(inputArr[2]).focus(function() { $(inputToOverlayDict[inputArr[2]]).hide(); }); $(inputArr[3]).focus(function() { $(inputToOverlayDict[inputArr[3]]).hide(); }); $(inputArr[4]).focus(function() { $(inputToOverlayDict[inputArr[4]]).hide(); }); $(inputArr[5]).focus(function() { $(inputToOverlayDict[inputArr[5]]).hide(); }); */ }); </script> The whole idea is that if a certain div object comes to focus, something else disappears (using JQuery). For some reason the code in the comments is working fine, but the for loop breaks everything down. Why? Hi, I'm creating a new email in javascript via outlook. When i try entering a line break "\n", "\r", "\r\r", etc, Outlook just ignores it completely. I've tried using "%0D%0A" and "fromCharCode(10)" as well but it doesnt seem to read it as a line break. Is there any way to code it so that a line break or a carriage return appears on outlook? My page is he http://acq.matthewboehler.com/ I have jQuery script written on my page to create a fade-effect when an image is hovered. See the large, kitchen image in the middle of the screen to see this effect in action. This is done on images with the "fade" class and styled with the second image as its background image. My problem is when I apply the "fade" class to another image, the background image does not appear on a rollover. See the bottom left corner image, when you rollover it goes away. Can someone explain why? |
