JavaScript - Javascript Not Functioning On Webhost But Functioning When Run Through Local Server
Hi,
I have created a site and on one page it uses 2 divs side by side to display text information. in the left hand div it contains 8 links. these links when clicked load up text stored in separate text files and display it in the right hand div. The search box code is suppose to send the inputted search word to the javascript on /promotions.html page and then load the search results http://www.asiconnection.com/Product.../LinkInQS.aspx into the iframe on that page. The only thing that appears in that iframe is "Oops. Firefox cannot find productsearch" Can someone help me figure this out? Thanks in advance. I'm attempting to have the example code section which is currently commented out to keep from code spamming this forum to react with the IF statement created within the FUNCTION that I called "calc". The code in the example section does work, however the FUNCTION or IF statement is not working. Could anyone help me visualize the problem. This <div> layer positioned always at bottom left of the screen on scrolling (and calling some code from labpixies) works well in non-ie browsers, but in ie it requires the omission of the doctype declaration. The issue I'm having is that the sound for the animation will not go off after the initial operation, every subsequent animation will be silent. Here is the pastebin: Pastebin.com Keep in mind this is not my code and I privately contracted someone out to do this. They are not responding and will not help at this point. I will try to answer any question you may have to the best of my ability. I am trying to install a simple slider/carousel in the middle of a web page. I opted for the JCarouselLite plug-in but can't seem to get it working. When the page loads, the images tile vertically(as opposed to line up horizontally) and the nav buttons sit below them. I have included necessary links to jQuery,the Carousel plug-in and also a custom.js file that includes a call to the plug-in to activate it(i think). I also have linked to a custom.css file to style the bar. I am wondering if my call to the plug-in is coded correctly. Beyond that, I can't understand why it isen't working. not sure where to go from here. I have a CMS that was built for our company website that relies on some JS to upload media through a regular browser directly to be displayed on our site. There is a button one clicks to upload video. When clicked the file browser on your computer is supposed to pop-up so you can choose the media you would like to upload. This button no longer is responsive on any of my 12 mac desktops in any common browser nor my mac laptop which is on a different OS X version. Any ideas? I'm have some images on a site that I want a user to download to their sdcard. i have urls for the images (e.g. http://eg.com/image1.jpg) and i have a webpage with a button. when the user clicks the button, i want it to download those images to an sdcard in their pc (hopefully they can select where using a windows open file type box). i think this may be quite difficult due to security with browsers and Iv looked into activex object (but cant get it to save to my filesystem). if this cant be done, perhaps i could do it on the server-side using php and have the user use filezilla to download the images. obviously this is not a very elagant solution. any ideas on how i might approach this problem? thanks you Jen Hi, Following this jQuery slideshow tutorial (Usecase 3 sample, about 2/3 down the page, this is the one without thumbnails): http://www.gcmingati.net/wordpress/w...vwt/index.html I constructed the slideshow: http://backstageweb.net/Salon/slideshowcode.htm ...which works perfectly in browser view locally (FF and IE). My joblist application will be published in a local server and the file will be open on a local network, so when they save the file it will be saved where the source file is located in (local server). I have added jquery.js and jqfancytransitions.js to the control. when i apply the effects dynamically it is working on local iis but the same coding is not working on iis server. Thanks in advance if anyone can help. Howdy all. I have Win 7, IE9. I have a HTML file on my hard drive, with Javascript within. When I load the page, it keeps popping up Do u want to allow this content, I have to click to allow. I want to stop this, and after doing some searching I found the setting in Internet Options, Advanced - "Allow active content to run in files on my computer". Perfect. Doesnt work. When i check this box, the page loads without the warning, but then the Javascript just doesnt work. Getting quite annoying, because this file is my home page. Any help would be great! I have an html file I've built with embedded Javascript (using ActiveX) that successfully reads a file on my local hard drive when I run the html file through my web browser (IE) locally. However, when I copy the html page up to a webserver and access it through the internet, it doesn't appear to be reading the local file. I'm assuming this can't be done because of security reasons? Am I correct in that? Is there any way using Javascript/ActiveX that you can get a webpage on the internet to access a file on the visitor's local drive? (other than cookies)

I have a feature on my website that allows users to choose the website background (using alternate css sheets) and then uses an externally linked javascript file to store the background choice as a cookie so it is consistent throughout the website. This works perfectly locally (i.e. when previewing my website on my computer) but now it is uploaded to my host it doesn't appear to be working.
