JavaScript - Image Fadein Question
Hi all,
I have set my sprite on this page http://www.kylehouston.com/portfolio.html to fade in, my problem is when the page loads the images appear and then they fade in, how can i set them to fade in without showing them first of all? Thanks in advance Kyle Similar TutorialsOk super new to Jquery here. I finally got talked into trying it. Ok so... I have Code: function windowOpen() { windowSize() document.getElementById("action1").innerHTML = ''; action1.style.filter = "alpha(opacity=" + (0*100) + ")"; action1.style.opacity = 0; var si = setInterval(function() { io+=0.05; action1.style.filter = "alpha(opacity=" + (io*100) + ")"; action1.style.opacity = io; }, 100); io = 0; if(io==1) { window.clearInterval(si); } clearMenu(); } I would love to know how to replace that with the fadein() function. I'm looking for something like this Code: function windowOpen() { windowSize() document.getElementById("action1").innerHTML = ''; //THE FADE IN GOES HERE but how? clearMenu(); } ok last question. Do I need to hide my elements somehow differently in CSS before I can use this? update: ok so far trying this and its not working Code: function windowOpen() { windowSize() document.getElementById("action1").innerHTML = ''; action1.fadeIn('slow'); clearMenu(); } finally made it work with Code: function windowOpen() { windowSize() action1.innerHTML = ''; action1.style.display = "none"; $("#action1").fadeIn(1300); clearMenu(); } http://dannycremers.com/menus.html i've been experimenting with random images floating in the background that i now want to turn into links to other images, the code i have right now is the following: Code: <div id="div2"><a href="#sub_target" onclick="return togg_sibl(this)"><img src="http://dannycremers.com/img/2.png" alt="" /></a> <div><a href="#" onclick="return togg_sibl(this)"><img src="http://dannycremers.com/inprogress/img/koekoek.jpg" alt="" /></a></div></div> image 2.png is the image with the black border, onclick of that image i want the orange picture to become visible in the center of the page which sort of works.. but for some reason when the page loads an extra version of the orange image shows up as well, any idea how i can get rid of this while also maintaining the orange image showing up onclick?? another issue i've been having is with the fadein code, it always used to work but after adding the onclick/toggle script it stopped working, does anybody have any idea why that is and how i can work around that? tnxxx! Hi, I am looking for a script which could do picture animation like in this page But there is other problem: When you put your mouse on them, they appear colored. I need that this appearing action would take 5 seconds. 5 sek. to become colored, 5 sek. to become grey when you put away your mouse. If you need more info, ask.. Thanks a lot. hi, i am trying to have the homepage of my website fade in, kind of like an intro to the site. I only want this fade in to happen on the home page when the website is initially visited, not every time the user clicks home. I am new to jquery but have had much success using plugins for effects. If anyone can help me figure out the code to create a fade in intro i would be very thankful! Richard I want it to fade out if the window is open then fade in... the fade in is working wonderfully but the fade out isn't doing a thing =[ and I get no errors =[ Code: var windowState = false; action1 = document.getElementById("action1"); function requestWindow(url) { if(windowState==false) { windowOpen(); } else if(windowState==true) { windowClose(); } if (window.XMLHttpRequest) { xmlhttp=new XMLHttpRequest(); } else { xmlhttp=new ActiveXObject("Microsoft.XMLHTTP"); } xmlhttp.open("GET",url, false); xmlhttp.send(null); document.getElementById('action1').innerHTML=xmlhttp.responseText; } function windowOpen() { windowState = true; windowSize() action1.style.display = "none"; $("#action1").fadeIn(1300); clearMenu(); } function windowClose() { windowState = false; action1.style.display = "inline"; $("#action1").fadeOut(1300); clearMenu(); windowOpen(); } Greetings everyone; Jesse here. Long time reader, first time poster. I have a personal website, currently in development, located at: http://www.jesselang.ca If you click the right-facing arrows along the right side you'll open a side-bar column, clicking a left-facing arrow will then close the side-bar. This functionality is "OK" at best. What I would like to see is clicking the right-facing arrow causes the current sidebar to fade-in, and simultaneously have the arrow flip to a left-facing icon; the idea being to add a toggle function to the arrows. The code I'm using at the moment is shown below, this string works for me because it only allows 1 sidebar container to be displayed at a time... which is ideal. Code: <script type="text/javascript"> lastone='empty'; function showIt(lyr) {if (lastone!='empty') lastone.style.display='none'; lastone=document.getElementById(lyr); lastone.style.display='block';} </script> The respective html looks something like this: Code: <a onclick="javascript:showIt('interestcontainer')" class="arrow"><span>show interests sidebar</span></a> The coresponding html for the container to display looks like this. This code also shows the "hide container" button: Code: <div id="interestcontainer" style='display:none;'> <h4>interests<a onclick="interestcontainer.style.display='none';" class="back"><span>back</span></a></h4> And the CSS looks like this: Code: a.arrow{ display:block; float:right; background:url(../images/ico-arrow.gif) top no-repeat; text-decoration:none; overflow:hidden; width:13px; height:11px; margin-left:3px;} ------------------ Would it be asking to much to have someone help me achieve the following functionality? -load page with all side containers hidden -display only 1 side container at a time -fadein and fadeout effects -same button displays and hides -button swaps images for displat/hide commands Again, my code can be seen at: http://www.jesselang.ca http://jesselang.ca/files/style.css I'd very much appreciate the help. Thank you in advance. *j It's functional and works, it just doesnt "fade in". Anyone know why it's not fading in? Code: function addPerson() { //current keeps track of how many people we have. var strToAdd = '<div id="input" class="ideaInput"><label class="idea">Another Name</label><input name="idea[]" class="idea" type="text"/>' strToAdd += '<label class="description">Description (optional)</label><textarea name="description[]" class="description"></textarea></div>' $('#all-inputs').append(strToAdd); }; $(document).ready(function() { $('#btnAdd').click(function () { $(addPerson).fadeIn('slow') }); }); Hi guys, Im trying to get the hover to fade in the 'hover.png' image and to fade out when leaving the 'hovering' item. The code I am using is the following Code: <script src='http://ajax.googleapis.com/ajax/libs/jquery/1.2.6/jquery.js' type='text/javascript'></script> <script type="text/javascript"> function mainmenu(){ $("#neon li.root").hover(function(){ $(this).fadeOut('500'); },function(){ $(this).fadeIn('500'); }); } $(document).ready(function () { mainmenu(); }); </script> <style type="text/css"> /* remove the margin and bullets, set the padding and margin for this demo only*/ .neon {margin:50px auto 200px auto; padding:25px 0 100px 15px; list-style:none; background:#000; width:720px;} /* display the list items inline with a right margin to space the buttons. Thanks! I am using fadein and out of jquery, but size of jquery file is high for me. so i should replace it do anyone know, how can i write fadein and fadeout functions? is anyone know its source code? Best Morteza I don't know if this is the right thread or not but my question is if anyone can tell what the script might be for doing this mouseover. zOr how it can be done. http://www.newtonaptclinics.com/ConditionsTreated.html Thanks Bill Hi I have created the following page http://kylehouston.com/new/choir_contact.html I have added JQuery to smoothly fade in the screenshot on this page but on the first load the image gradually loads which misses out on the fade in effect. Is there a way I can load the image invisibly and then fade it in? Thanks in advance for your advice Kyle I have a bit of code that I can't decipher, beginner that I am. Code: (function($) { $(document).ready(function() { $("#tmp").attr('src', loader.loadImage('test.zip://images/image.jpg')); }); })(jQuery) This code loads an image from a zip file and the tmp variable is passed to the id attribute in the html img tag. It works as is, but what I want to do is pass an array element containing the image name to the function from within the tag and have the function return directly rather than using the #tmp variable. The html page I'm working with has 98 images, so calling this function from within the img tag seems the way to go rather than having 98 separate instances of the function wit 98 separate tmp variables. What I don't understand is what function($) means or why tmp has the hash in front. I had assumed the hash was some sort of pointer reference but I wasn't able to find any documentation on it. Can anyone help me out? I was wondering if it was possible to get java to display images that have the same name but diff numbers like: Soccer*** Displays; Soccer001 Soccer002 Soccer003 Soccer004 .... So on and so forth. Sorry the question isn't worded well lol I know I posted this in the Javascript section, and if this is not right, I am sorry, please let me know so I can post it in the right area. I am looking to create an image gallery on my website. i am decent at coding, but need some help. I am looking for a code to where I can have a gallery to every picture inside the folder. say I have 100 pictures in a folder named "pics123" on my server. Is there a way to code a gallery to where every picture in the folder will appear in the gallery without putting every image in the coding? thanks! I'm making my first venture into Javascript with this project. i've been successful so far, but i'm trying to add a few more elements and i'm not sure how to do it. here's the test site: http://www.ductaman.com/test1/amenities.html there's a few ways i want to go from here, one is to add captions to each picture when it's made large. the other is to maybe have the thumb link to another photo, that way i can make the thumb be a face, and have the large pic be their whole body. etc. i was hoping i could do this by adding more variables to the "a_load()" function. So i guess i was wondering if i can draw on a variable defined by "a_load()" with "b_load()" and if so, how? i have made several educated guesses as to how i would do this, but nothing has worked. thanks -Andy head code: Code: <script type="text/javascript"> function a_load(a_pic1,a_file1,a_pic2,a_file2,a_pic3,a_file3,a_pic4,a_file4,a_pic5,a_file5,a_pic6,a_file6) { document.getElementById(a_pic1).src = a_file1; document.getElementById(a_pic2).src = a_file2; document.getElementById(a_pic3).src = a_file3; document.getElementById(a_pic4).src = a_file4; document.getElementById(a_pic5).src = a_file5; document.getElementById(a_pic6).src = a_file6; } function b_load(whichpic) { var x=document.getElementById(whichpic); document.getElementById("largepic").src = x.src; } </script> body code: Code: <div id="map"> <img src="images/default/chevy.png" id="chevy" onclick="a_load('pic1','images/default/lion.jpg','pic2','images/default/chimp.jpg','pic3','images/default/zebra.jpg','pic4','images/default/fish.jpg','pic5','images/default/cat.jpg','pic6','images/default/dog.jpg')"> <img src="images/default/ford.png" id="ford" onclick="a_load('pic1','images/default/cow.jpg','pic2','images/default/duck.jpg','pic3','images/default/fish.jpg','pic4','images/default/frog.jpg','pic5','images/default/eagle.jpg','pic6','images/default/cat.jpg')"> <img src="images/default/honda.png" id="honda" onclick="a_load('pic1','images/default/chimp.jpg','pic2','images/default/zebra.jpg','pic3','images/default/cat.jpg','pic4','images/default/lion.jpg','pic5','images/default/frog.jpg','pic6','images/default/duck.jpg')"> <img src="images/default/toyota.png" id="toyota" onclick="a_load('pic1','images/default/dog.jpg','pic2','images/default/fish.jpg','pic3','images/default/cat.jpg','pic4','images/default/eagle.jpg','pic5','images/default/zebra.jpg','pic6','images/default/lion.jpg')"> <img src="images/default/nissan.png" id="nissan" onclick="a_load('pic1','images/default/frog.jpg','pic2','images/default/lion.jpg','pic3','images/default/fish.jpg','pic4','images/default/dog.jpg','pic5','images/default/chimp.jpg','pic6','images/default/zebra.jpg')"> </div> <div id="gallery"> <img src="images/default/cat.jpg" id="pic1" height="150" width="200" onclick="b_load('pic1')"> <img src="images/default/dog.jpg" id="pic2" height="150" width="200" onclick="b_load('pic2')"> <img src="images/default/duck.jpg" id="pic3" height="150" width="200" onclick="b_load('pic3')"> <img src="images/default/chimp.jpg" id="pic4" height="150" width="200" onclick="b_load('pic4')"> <img src="images/default/eagle.jpg" id="pic5" height="150" width="200" onclick="b_load('pic5')"> <img src="images/default/frog.jpg" id="pic6" height="150" width="200" onclick="b_load('pic6')"> <div id="mainpic"> <img src="images/default/cat.jpg" id="largepic" height="300" width="400"> </div> </div> </div> I need some help here. I'm a complete newbie at this. This is what I would like to have happen. Upon clicking an image (button) I would like a new window to open and I also want to the parent window to load as a new page. I've been searching around and found some code. I implemented it and got the new window to open, but the parent window does not change. Please let me know what to change. Here's what I have: <script language="JavaScript"><!-- function newWindow(file, window) { msgWindow=open(file,window,'resizable=no,width=1500,height=1000'); if (msgWindow.open == null) msgWindow.open = self; } //--></script> <form> <input value="Get Quotes Now" type="image" src="http://www.xyz.com/pictures/a1.jp" onmouseout="this.src='http://www.xyz.com/pictures/a1.jpg';" onmouseover="this.src='http://www.xyz.com/pictures/a2.jpg';" onclick="newWindow('http://www.xyz.com/compare.html','window2');window.open('http://www.xyz.com/compare2.html','_self',' ')"> </form> I am brand new to Javascript, have been studying on Lynda.com for almost a week trying to get the hang. I found a cool scrolling effect with controls here at the very bottom of the page, and have built a page just trying to duplicate the html and js below. Unfortunately, it doesn't work. The CSS seems to be there, however no scrolling, any help would be greatly appreciated. </div> </body> </html> Hi! I'm just starting to learn java script and have a questions. If anyone could answer this it'd be great. When preloading images for use in things like mouseout/on/etc what is the proper code? var image1, image 2; image1 = new Image() image1.src = "" image2 = new Image() image2.src = "" OR var image1 image1.... var image2 image2.... The book I have list both but only the 2nd way I listed works. Why? Thanks I need to change the source of an image but I can't seem to figure out how. I believe that I have the correct syntax, but it does not seem to be working. Maybe I am typing it in wrong or something. I try to test my javascript by typing the script: <strong>javascript:document.getElementById('img1').src='./images/image1.jpg';</strong> into the address bar. Nothing happens. I also try to test it out by putting this on the page, but once again, nothing happens. Code: <script type="text/javascript"><!-- document.getElementById('im1').src="./scripts/'.$upload_image.'"; //--></script> This is what my HTML code looks like: Code: <img src="./images/temp_wizard_picture.gif" alt="" style="padding:4px; background:#fff; border:1px #bbb solid;" id="img1" /> Can somebody please fill me in on what I am doing wrong. Thank you. i have image button i need to display image .if the size of the image button is 100*100 and image size is 50*50 .the remaining space of the image button should be empty.the image should not stretch. can any one guide me i am new to programming Thanks in advance!!! |
