I'm talking about the navigation of this site. The way there is one huge background and clicking on each page moves the background to a certain part. Is there a way I can pull this off using some form of javascript? So I'm trying to make a free flash game site that is not completely annoying and never redirects you to another site. i'm hosting all my flash games on my server. when you select the game you would like to play, it loads the file name into a javascript variable that gets sent to my game.html where i would like the game to load. every game should load on this same page. I cannot for the life of me find how to read the variable in html. I've tried embed, object, documentwrite, basically everything i could find doing google searches for 10 hours. I'm no expert programmer, but I've never had to post a question to any forum EVER before because I always figure it out on my own. Not this time. i don't want to include any code i'm using because i would like the proper format. tell me what to do with it and i will do anything in my power to make you feel special. i'll devote a special page to you highlighting your genius on my site. this is a terrible example of what I'm trying to do, just imagine VARIABLEGOESHERE = mystinkingame.swf: [CODE] <object width="550" height="400"> <param name="movie" value="VARIABLEGOESHERE"> <embed src="VARIABLEGOESHERE" width="550" height="400"> </embed> </object> [CODE] it is also clear that i do not understand the [CODE] tag in your forum. Hi just wondering if someone could check my code. I have a flash document that is referenced in index.html file below. I want to create book marks to specific pages of the flash file. My code below opens it up at the first page but I want it to open at page 5. Any help would be appreciated? Code: <script language="javaScript"> function loadPage($page) { var load = window.open('/resources/default/html/Mag/index.html?page='+$page,'','scrollbars=no,menubar=no,height=800,width=1280,resizable=no,toolbar=no,location=no,status=no'); } </script> <LI><A href="javascript:loadPage(5)">Face to face1</A></LI> Hi, I have a JS file on site A which needs a few parameters from a short text file on site B. Since crossing domain boundaries in JS is problematic, the way I do it is that the JS actually opens an intermediate PHP file on site A which redirects to the destination page in site B. Here's how it goes: The call is made through: Code: On SiteA.com/myfile.js var theFile = getFile("intermediate.php"); var lines = theFile.split("\n"); var var1 = lines[1]; var var2 = lines[2]; var var3 = lines[3]; On SiteA.com/intermediate.php: <?php include("http://www.mySiteB.com/theTextFile.txt"); ?> The problem is that this takes a long time. I would really like to speed this up. For example - I thought of using a direct IP address, so that there won't be any need a DNS server (using Code: include("http://123.45.67.89/~myUsername/mySiteB/theTextFile.txt"); ) but this would expose me to hackers as it would make my Hostgator username visible. According to HG support the above format is the only way to access my subsite via direct IP. Any ideas on how to speed this up, either by bypassing DNS (but without exposing username) or by offering another way of reading data across sites? Suggestions for both JS and PHP files would be appreciated. I cannot set up a CDN here. This is really important for me! THANK YOU!!! I'm try to set up a webpge that will play a live flash video on the left-hand side(got that part working) and display one slide of a presentation(jpg) to the right of the video. I would like to be able to control when the slide image changes by having some js check a text file on my server. The text file could contain something as simple as "Slide1.jpg". I will manipulate the text file with some code I've already written. Is there some simple js code I can put in my page that will cause it to check the text file every 5 seconds, and if the content of the file has changed, to refresh the image on the page with the new image? I'm try to get away from the "clicking" sound that is caused by doing a simple refresh of an Iframe. I'm a complete novice at js, so any help would be appreciated. I'm also open to other solutions that would accomplish the same thing. Thanks, Mike hi guys, i was wondering if anyone could help me. Ive been looking into the above and want to implement it on my site. I have created no flash pages and flash pages, but instead of creating a portal at the front of the site that leads you to a flash site and a no flash site id like to do it so the page detects flash or not, and redirects to whichever URL. Is this possible, or do multiple browsers cause problems ? cheers So, I have to rely on a third party external JS file to load into a site of mine. Problem is I have to have it (for ads), but once every blue moon the server fails to repond to the request (its down or unresponsive), and thus because the JS can't load, the site hangs. Is there a reliable js/ajax etc.. mechanism that I can use to set an allotted time and if the js isn't loaded, cancel the call or stop it so the page can load? Please advise. Caveats: I cannot host it, I cannot use php. Basically I was given a script call and I include it in the header of the page. I don't have alot of room to host, use various technologies etc.. other than what I am able to use without any backend/app scripting. I am trying for a javascript code that would ask for the excel file location when run, fetch data from two columns till eof in an excel file (MS Excel 2010), append it to an existing text file and upload the plain text file to an ftp location. The ftp username, password and location needs to be hard coded in the script. Is this possible? I'l not good in Javascript and I can't find anything about what I want.. . On a sports website there is a table with our ranking and results. On this site the content is changed weekly, but it stays in the same tables.. . Is it possible to make a javascript to get those tables and put them on my own website so the content will change on my site when the content is changed on the sports site? Please help me, it would save me lot of time.. . THx Hi Guys & Girls, I am looking for help with a technical issue, which my programmer can't find the answer to. My website has a demonstration facility which allows a client to enter their website which then in turn creates a video transparency overlaying their own website. The problem is some sites with Flash, overlay my transparency video so that you cant see my demo video. Any ideas please. Thanks Maximillion i saw some website, they embed flash ,but while i right click the flash , the menu wasnt the menu of flash ,it is the html menu , it seems that the flash file was a picture . how to do this. How to learn Flash Scripting
Hi all.. I have a modal window I'm working on, but the flash below it comes over the top of the modal window. I'm assuming it's a z-index issue. I'm using Tinybox2 for the modal window, and it's CSS styles use 800 and 900 for z-index. Code: .tbox {position:absolute; display:none; padding:14px 17px; z-index:900} .tinner {padding:15px; -moz-border-radius:5px; border-radius:5px; background:#fff url(images/preload.gif) no-repeat 50% 50%; border-right:1px solid #333; border-bottom:1px solid #333} .tmask {position:absolute; display:none; top:0px; left:0px; height:100%; width:100%; background:#000; z-index:800} .tclose {position:absolute; top:0px; right:0px; width:30px; height:30px; cursor:pointer; background:url(images/close.png) no-repeat} .tclose:hover {background-position:0 -30px} The flash itself isn't in a div but in a table. Is there a way to give it a lower z-index? Thanks in advance! carrie Hi there, A client of mine has asked me to change a flash component on his website to something that will work on the ipad/iphone etc. So my guess is that a javascript created slideshow would do the trick. Check out what I am meaning on this page: http://www.it-world.com.au/ It's the flash with "Our Services" "Our Products" "Contact" in it. Can anyone suggest a very easy javascript that I could manipulate to give this same scrolling effect on the click of a link. It needs to be very easy to make changes to as I have no js skills whatsoever other than copying, pasting and making minor changes to obvious pieces of script. hope someone can help! Thanks, Ross Hi there, I'm working on a presentation and I'm going to store each page into a ".html" So in example, I have... "1.html" "2.html" "3.html" Each number goes to each slide accordingly. The way I was working the presentation out was having users load a webpage via mobile phone which contains an iframe. I'll change the src of the iframe to the desired slide; and the META refresh will handle displaying it to the user. Now, here's the problem. It flashes on some browsers, like Blackberries. I'd like for the content being refreshed to not flash, but appear naturally. That way, the user doesn't have to attempt to read flashing text (which gets -REALLY annoying) ------------------------------------ TLDR; I need some code to refresh a page/div without flashing the content on ALL if not MOST browsers. Thanks. ------------------------------------ I think I know how I'd solve this issue; but I'm not too sure how to "integrate it" Perhaps, have a Javascript code keep the current "look" of the page static until "X" seconds. So, this would happen. Page refresh -> Javascript holds page for 5 seconds -> Page finishes loading -> Original page revealed It'd act kind of like a cover-up. I'm not too familiar with javascript and usually do most of my animation/linking with flash. However my client does not want flash because it can't be displayed on the iPhone. If you go he http://www.hosthabitat.com/think/bb2/index.html you will see a menu on the left that starts to scroll through the buttons while showing different images on the right. But if you hover over any button it stops on that image. The buttons are then linked to individual pages. I attempted to try and replicate this technique he http://www.hosthabitat.com/think/bb2/index_test.html However I am not sure how to write or modify my script so that it scrolls through the photos like my flash version does. Any help!!! I'm stuck! basically...i have a popup overlay that keeps gettin covered by the flash videos my friend embeds all over the website this is easily avoided using addParam('wmode', 'transparent','true'); but is there a script that can add that transparent line of code to every flash video soon as the page loads...so i dont gotta one by one every youtube Hi, Please bear with me as I've never worked with Flash before. I wish to include a Flash banner in my web page that is a link to another web site. The other web site has provided the code for the Flash banner link as: Code: <script language="JavaScript" src="http://www.************************"></script> <noscript><iframe src="http://www.********************&iframe=1" width=468 height=60 frameborder=0 border=0 scrolling=no marginheight=0 marginwidth=0></iframe></noscript> When I include the code inbetween <head></head> or between <body></body> nothing happens. I wonder why the banner is not showing? Do I have to alter the code or include something in my HTML code? I'd be very grateful for all help. Hi, I'm currently working on a Flash pop-up that can be integrated in several websites. I'm currently testing the code. I've got a flash file with a semi-transparant background that loads over the complete page, it also closes the div with the flash content once the end of the swf is reached. The thing is, I want to prevent the user from scrolling whilst the swf is active. That's why I disabled the overflow-Y. Now I've got a javascript code that is supposed to change the body's overflow to visible again, and I'm calling to this code in the same frame as where I disable the div with the flash in it. But for some reason it isn't working. This is my complete Javascript code: Code: <script type="text/javascript"> <!-- Original: Gregor (legreg@legreg.de) --> <!-- This script and many more are available free online at --> <!-- The JavaScript Source!! http://javascript.internet.com --> var ie4 = (document.all) ? true : false; var ns4 = (document.layers) ? true : false; var ns6 = (document.getElementById && !document.all) ? true : false; function hidelayer(lay) { if (ie4) {document.all[lay].style.visibility = "hidden";} if (ns4) {document.layers[lay].visibility = "hide";} if (ns6) {document.getElementById([lay]).style.display = "none";} } function writetolayer(lay, txt) { if (ie4) { document.all[lay].innerHTML = txt; } if (ns4) { document[lay].document.write(txt); document[lay].document.close(); } if (ns6) { over = document.getElementById([lay]); range = document.createRange(); range.setStartBefore(over); domfrag = range.createContextualFragment(txt); while (over.hasChildNodes()) { over.removeChild(over.lastChild); } over.appendChild(domfrag); } } <!-- This is the part I added which I thought would show the scrollbar again after the flashpopup is finished --> function showbar(){ document.getElementsByName('body')[0].style.overflowY = 'visible'; } </script> And in the final frame of my flash animation I first stop the swf, and then call to both functions: //stops the movie stop(); //this is the code that triggers the function to hide the div, and the function that should show the scrollbar getURL("javascript:showbar();"); getURL("javascript:hidelayer('newlayer');"); I've also got an online webtest he http://www.haragara.com/banner_test/ And I've included all the files in a zip Can anyone tell me what I'm doing wrong? |
