JavaScript - Script To Disable Further Javascript In Page?
Is there a way to use inline javascript that will prevent any javascript after it (in the same page) from executing?
So, for instance I could have something like: -Content- -JS A- -Content- -JS B- -JS C- 'JS A' would execute, 'JS B' would be the code I'm asking about and it would cause 'JS C' to not do anything. Sorry if this is an off-the-wall question. I good with C/C++, VB, Ruby, Lua, HTML, etc, but I haven't gotten to Javascript (or Java) yet so I have no idea what the capabilities or environment setup are like. Thanks in advance for any advice. I create the following code but it did not work <!DOCTYPE HTML PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD HTML 4.01 Transitional//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/html4/loose.dtd"> <html xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml"> <head> <meta http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html; charset=utf-8" /> <title>New Web Project</title> <script language="JavaScript" type=""> function changeColor(){ document.bgColor = "Gray"; } </script> </head> <body> <script language="JavaScript" type="text/javascript"> var person = ""; person = prompt('What is Your Name:'); if (person == "Foo") { document.write("<h1 />Welcome " + person); document.bgColor = "Yellow"; } else { document.write("<h1 />Access Denied!!!!"); document.bgColor = "Red"; document.getElementById("gree").disabled = true; } </script> <div> <p/><input id="gree" type="button" value="Gray " onClick="changeColor();"> </div> </body> </html> as you can see I used the: document.getElementById("gree").disabled = true; but it did not work , could you please give an idea how I can solve this problem? Thanks I am trying to figure out how to code this type of horizontal navigation like this site. http://www.maxdesign.com.au/ When you click on, say, "News", the CSS button turns red and white. I am thinking that this is done with JavaScript and a basic CSS list menu. But I cannot seem to find an example of this the of menu anywhere. The Max Design site is based on WordPress and apparently this navigation uses an API built into the WP framework. I need this type of horizontal menu for a custom coded CSS and PHP site. Any and all help would be appreciated. Either code or point me to a tutorial. Thanks, WiLd Is it possible to disable all scripts within a certain div? Hello guys, You were all very kind to help me a few months ago when I was trying to create the code which is posted below. it is a table of banner ads that will rotate on my website and the appropriate link follows the appropraite ad when they rotate. everything is working fine except that when you click on one of the ads ( which is a link), the link works but the page displays an error at the bottom as soon as any link is clicked. Since this type of hyperlink is associated with the javascript, im not sure how to correct the issue. maybe it is a simple thing. can anyone take a look at this and help me figure out the issue? thanks. When the form is submitted it brings you to a page that looks almost identical to it. On this page, the input fields have been changes to the user's submitted text. When this page loads, so does the print dialog so the user can print it instantly. The problem is that since the form and the print page look the same, some of our employees (out of habit from our old system) hit ctrl+p and print the form before submitting it. Since there is a way to automatically bring up the print dialog, I was wondering if there is a way to disable it all together. This system is used only by our employees who all use the latest version of Firefox. The solution only needs to work for this browser. Any help is greatly appreciated. Thank you! I have a page with a lot of textual elements, textbox/radiobutton/checkbox prompts and a couple of buttons. I used the tabIndex property of the prompts to set a tabbing order, but unfortunately further tabbing also cycles through the static textual elements present on the page. How do I prevent that? How can I make tabbing cycle through my prompts and the cancel/finish buttons only? I am using (and targeting) IE8 if it matters. Thanks! Hi, I have two buttons save and finish. I want to enable the button finish whenever I click the save button. page1.jsp. <script> InitialLoad() { document.getElementById('finish').disabled = true; } save(){ document.getElementById('finish').disabled = false; } </script> <html> <body onload= "InitialLoad()"> <input type="submit" name="finish" id=="finish" value="finish"> <input type="submit" name="save" value="save" onclick= save();> </body> </html> strutsconfig.xml <forward name="success" path="atre.dodUpgrade.show.page1"/> Using the above I can enable it temporarly. But whenever I call the forward page it on action class forward = mapping.findForward("success"); The Problem is page Refresh again and it shows disabled button for finish. what could be the solution for this? Thanks I have a server that when restarted emails from the code below every single time. I would like to know what I can use in the code below to regonize the restart and bypass the email send piece in BOLD below. Any help will be greatly appreciated. now = currentDateTime() if (statusInOverride != lastOverrideValue) or (overrideTime != lastOverrideTime) lastOverrideValue = statusInOverride lastOverrideTime = overrideTime if statusInOverride.value == true overrideStopTime = now overrideStopTime.minute = now.minute + overrideTime // Also send an email overrideHours = overrideTime / 60 mailSend(address, suiteName + " Overridden", suiteName + " has been overridden for " + overrideHours + " hours."); else mailSend(address, suiteName + " Override Canceled", suiteName + " has canceled their override. Hi I have a quiz that uses javascript to calculate the scores over 10 pages of a template which uses jquery. I'm having trouble disabling the navigation buttons so that the user cannot move on until they submit the question. The code is in Jquery and Javascript and i'm still learning. I tried this which worked as it stopped them from navigating away from the page but it stopped my quiz from calculating the score too.... Code: //Next Page Function $('.next').click(function() { if (current_page == no_pages){ //do nothing } else{ if (flag==false) { try { checkAnswer(document.getElementById('quizForm')) flag=true; return false; } catch(err) { if (err.number !=-2146823281) { alert(err.description); } } } next_page = (current_page + 1); $("#content").fadeOut("slow",function(){ $("#content").load("pages/page_" + next_page + ".html").fadeIn('slow')} ); current_page ++; $("#current_page").html(current_page); progress_bar(); } }); This is what the code looks like now without the changes.... Code: //Next Page Function $('.next').click(function() { if (current_page == no_pages){ //do nothing } else{ next_page = (parseInt (current_page) + 1); $("#content").fadeOut("slow",function(){ $("#content").load("pages/page_" + next_page + ".html").fadeIn('slow')} ); current_page ++; $("#current_page").html(current_page); progress_bar(); } }); I was also told to try and disable the button until they click sumbit and then enable it straight away but i'm not really sure what i'm doing. I put this bit together but it doesn't do anything.... Code: else{ if (document.getElementById('quizForm')){ if (document.quizForm.cc.disabled==true) document.quizForm.cc.disabled=false else {return true;} Any advise? Thanks. I am explaining below the exact scenario where I need the help: I am developing a web application in which I need to integrate a javascript/html editor on some of the web pages and then provide 'Edit' buttons on those web pages so that users can edit the content on that partciular html/jsp page (like editing in wiki pages) and then, when they add some content and click on submit button, the new content should appear on the web page with all the formatting (i.e. bold, italics, color and so on) which was applied by user when he was entering the text. Now, I need help for the below issues: 1. Please suggest me a good javascript/html editor (freely downloadable) which I can use to integrate with my web pages. 2. Once the user has entered some content using the above javascript editor, how to make that content reach the server and update the corresponding web page. I am new to web development, so may be that these questions are too simple. But, I need some help from you. Waiting for your reply, Thanks, Aditya I would like to know a script for when you have a page that can expire (or cannot be open again) --- a time limit for like 24 hours. Because I'm going to make a site where people can buy website designs, they buy it off paypal, they get redirected to a site where the code is located and the site will get expired in 24 hours -- then, they wouldn't be able to open the page again. If anyone knows the script, please post it here! Thank you x Is this possible? I am writing a script that will display an alert box that reads "your play was saved" after a user clicks the submit button on a form. The only problem is that after clicking save, the page refreshes. Here is the code I tried to use Code: function savedMessage(){ document.getElementById("CmdFinish").addEventListener("click",function(e) { GM_setValue("Saved", 1); }, false); if (GM_getValue("saved", 0) == 1) { alert("Your play has been saved"); GM_setValue("saved", 0); // or GM_deleteValue("saved"); } } The button ID is "CmdFinish" and the value is "saved". Is there ANY way i can make the script run only on a page refresh? **Note** The script is for a specific page and not the whole site, so it wont run on every refresh on the site, only when it's needed on 1 page. |
