JavaScript - Popup Prob In Ie8, Just Makes Swoop Noise
I have created a popup for music on a site and works fine in firefox. when I pull the site up in IE8 it makes a noise and thats it. the site: http://www.brumarestate.com/
Code: var gmyWin=null; function popmusic(winURL, winName, winFeatures, winObj) { var theWin; // this will hold our opened window // first check to see if the window already exists if (winObj != null) { // the window has already been created, but did the user close it? // if so, then reopen it. Otherwise make it the active window. if (!winObj.closed) { winObj.focus(); } // otherwise fall through to the code below to re-open the window } // if we get here, then the window hasn't been created yet, or it // was closed by the user. theWin = window.open(winURL, winName, "resizable=0,location=0,status=0,scrollbars=0,width=190,height=25"); return theWin; } and of course onload in body tags <body onLoad="return popmusic('music/music.html')"> any idea's, thanks in advance Similar TutorialsHi, I have beginner skills using JS and, with alot help, have developed a script for an animation of a white noise pattern (TV screen noise). I need to use the animation in an eLearning educational lesson. The animation works OK but the sharpness of the animated pixels is poor (for example, looks blurry in FF). I wonder if someone can suggest a way to sharpen the animation? This would be a big help. The CSS simply creates a 640 x 640 canvas: canvas{ border:1px solid black; height:640px; width:640px; } The JS for the animation follows: (function(){ var viewbmd, px = [], timer, itsNoisy, stage, random = Math.random ; init(); function init(){ stage = document.querySelector("canvas"); viewbmd = stage.getContext("2d"); itsNoisy = true; stage.onclick = manageNoise; initNoise(); timer = setInterval(onTick, 50) } function initNoise(){ var array = [], d, val; for (var i = 0; i < 255; i++) { array[i] = 0xffffff * (i % 2); } for(i = 0; i < 6400; i++){ d = random()*256|0; val = array[d]; viewbmd.fillStyle = "rgb(" + val + ", " + val + ", " + val + ")"; viewbmd.fillRect(i%80, ((i)/80)|0, 8, 8); } px = viewbmd.getImageData(0, 0, 80, 80); } function onTick(){ flipSomePixels(160); viewbmd.putImageData(px, 0, 0); } function flipSomePixels(howMany/*:int*/){ for (var i = 0; i < howMany; i++){ var pxidx = (Math.random()*(px.data.length/4))|0; for(var j = 0; j < 3; j++){ px.data[pxidx*4+j] = !px.data[pxidx*4+j] ? 255 : 0; } } } function manageNoise(){ itsNoisy ? clearInterval(timer) : timer = setInterval(onTick, 50); itsNoisy = !itsNoisy; } })(); Any help appreciated. Kind Regards, saratogacoach Hi, I want to recreate the effect of the drop-down bar that appears at the top of your browser when prompted to download an updated version of flash. Its for a proprietory plugin, but can't seem to get anywhere with it... Anyone have any ideas? Hello all I'm trying to get this function to check for 10 digits only but alert shows regardless of less / more or exactly 10 digits --- what am I missing? any help on sorting this greatly appreciated. Code: function validate(form) { if (document.forms[0].callme.checked) { var phone = document.forms[0].mobile.value; // assign value to var phone = phone.replace( /[^\d]/g, "" ); // zap all non-digit characters if ( document.forms[0].mobile.length != 10 ) // chk for 10 digits{ alert("Enter 10 numbers"); return false; } else { alert("Yahoo"); } } low tech I have 2 news tickers that I want to show one after the other. They are both widgets (javascript) that I grabbed from the stated website. However to get one to run after the other I felt like I needed a setTimeout(). So I made one of them delayed (ticker8) but instead of JUST appearing after 5000 ms, it appears and EVERYTHING ELSE DISAPPEARS. I know that it's something silly I just can't figure out what it is. The HTML code is below. [CODE] <head> <meta http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html; charset=utf-8" /> <script LANGUAGE='JavaScript' type='text/javascript' SRC='http://www.theFinancials.com/syndicated/Free/EXk_EconomicStats_US.js'></script> </head> <body> <div id="ticker6"> <script LANGUAGE='JavaScript' type='text/javascript' SRC='http://www.theFinancials.com/syndicated/Free/EXk_Interest_TBills.js'></script> <script LANGUAGE='JavaScript' type='text/javascript'> document.writeln(EXk_Interest_TBills('0050201336','100%','C9C9C9','yes','6B6B6B','Arial',11,1,'37373 7')); </script> </div> <div id="ticker8"> <script type="text/javascript"> setTimeout("ticker8()", 5000); function ticker8() { <!--START theFinancials.com Content--> <!--copyright theFinancials.com - All Rights Reserved--> document.writeln(EXk_EconomicStats_US('0199604514','100%','C9C9C9','yes','6B6B6B','Arial',11,1,'3737 37')); <!--END theFinancials.com Content--> } </script> </div> </body> </html> [CODE] Would really appreciate some help with this one. Many thanks in advance wait... why am i here???
Hi - if you click on any of these radio boxes an effect happens whereby content is pushed down. Can you tell me what causes this? http://www.emailcraft.com/order-now.html The reason I ask is because I am after this effect and am looking for someone to code it for me - but am not sure how to describe it - thanks a lot i am desperate to know what is wrong with this script Mermaid Holidays offers discounts for children of families who have booked holidays. Children under the age of five go free. Children aged from 5 to 15 inclusive pay half the advertised price of the holiday. Anyone over the age of 15 must pay the full advertised price of the holiday. <HTML> <HEAD> <TITLE>TMA 02 Q4(iii)</TITLE> <SCRIPT LANGUAGE = "JAVASCRIPT"> // A price calculation program for Mermaid Holidays var initialPrice; // Advertised price of the holiday in pounds var age; // Age in years of the holidaymaker initialPrice = window.prompt('Please enter the advertised price of the holiday in pounds', ''); initialPrice = parseFloat(initialPrice); Age = window.prompt ('please enter your age',''); Age = parsefloat(age); if (age <=5) { document.write ('under 5s go free'); } else if(age<15) { document.write('this age group is half price'); } else { document.write('initialprice'); } // Insert your code here </SCRIPT> </HEAD> <BODY> </BODY> </HTML> Hello I'd really appreciate some help please, no other forum seems to have an answer for this. Example : I have a file called values.asp and in that file are 100 different variables all assigned a specific number. I also have a results.asp file or a simple html page. The target is to read a specific variable in the values.asp file and then display it in another asp file or standard HTML file using Javascript's document.write(variablename); method. So in other words, i wish to fetch a specific variables value from values.asp and show it in another asp file or a simple html file using javascript. Your help will be very much appreciated. Thanks! Ron Hi, I'm kinda hoping this is possible but haven't found any reference to it... I have a parent page that opens a popup on click that launches a sidebar navigation on the right of the screen and resizes the parent page. What I am wanting to do is create a second popup (approx 250px high) that opens below the navigation (which is only around 600px high) but I have noticed that even when you have no status bar in the popup windows, they can still end up overlapping because of additional tools or plugins that the viewer has in their browser. Is there any way to get the popups to butt up against each other instead of overlapping? More like a relative popup? Any assistance would be appreciated. :-) I found this popup window, and it works for my project, now i would like to include a close option to the popup window. Either "close", a button, or click aywhere. Here is the coding I am currently using: <script type="text/javascript"> function openWin(image, w, h){ var wh='width='+w+',height='+h var tmpPage=window.open('','',wh) tmpPage.document.write('<body style="margin:0;padding:0;"><img src="'+image+'" width="'+w+'" height="'+h+'">') tmpPage.document.close() } </script> <a href="1379_files/image296.jpg" target="_blank" onclick="openWin(this.href, 1253, 940);return false;"><img src="1379_files/image296.jpg" width="348" height="261" border="0"></a> <a href="1379_files/image298.jpg" target="_blank" onclick="openWin(this.href, 1253, 940);return false;"><img src="1379_files/image298.jpg" width="348" height="261" border="0"></a> <p> <a href="1379_files/image300.jpg" target="_blank" onclick="openWin(this.href, 1253, 940);return false;"><img src="1379_files/image300.jpg" width="348" height="261" border="0"></a> This opens 3 pictures, that when clicked opens the popup of the same picture, only full screen. I am not talking about the popups cretaed using window.open. I am talking about the window which appears to display some advertisements in most of the sites. I am now trying to add a popup feature on the larger image that will pull an additional image and I cant seem to get it to work. In addition the text that appears under the large image is the same text no matter which image you click on. This appears to work by adding class="popup" to links on the calendar. I want to use the same functionality to link to calendar events from other areas on the site, not just on the calendar. It looks like the javascript file is loaded on every page of the site, but adding class="popup" only results in an empty DIV with a close button, without actually loading the content. Can anyone please help me solve this? A link to what I'm working on is he http://67.220.206.170/~jazzbone/?q=home. The upcoming events section is a block from the Calendar view (created by the Calendar module), however it does not do popups by default like the calendar page, so I've tried adding class="popup" to these links to make it work. You can see in the main body of the page is a test link with class="popup" as a test as well. I want them to behave like the popups on the event calendar page. I think this is the javascript file in question: http://67.220.206.170/~jazzbone/site...r/jcalendar.js I know this is a lot, and I'm a newbie here, but I appreciate any help, thanks. Hello, Take a look at this page and this just what I want: http://yensdesign.com/tutorials/popupjquery/ But I have two issues concerning this: 1)I am able to insert a youtube image into the popup BUT when I click on the 'X' the popup disappears but the audio remains. What I would like to do is somehow alter the code so the popup is "destroyed" and the clip is stopped completely including the audio. 2) I also want to able to adapt the code so that I can click on any one of multiple youtube links and get the same effect. My javascript capabilities aren't that strong so any help or links to other pages or suggestions are welcome. Okay, first it should be noted I am a complete, 100% neophyte with javascript. I know HTML code pretty well, and I can do quite a bit of PHP as well, but it is all self-taught, so I am hardly an expert... and as I said, java is like French to me. I have a very simple website I've built, nothing complicated or dynamic - but we want to add one feature to this website which I have to say I am at a complete loss about. Basically, I want to have the main page of this website to have a popup form that somebody can plug in their name, email and zipcode load the first time somebody loads the page (which would obviously dump into a database or something), and then the next time the person goes to that page, that popup does not come up again. In other words, I want the feature to behave exactly like this: http://gopleader.gov/ Grey out the background, popup form, place a cookie so that in the future the popup doesn't load again, and that is it. I honestly am no kidding when I say I don't know javascript at all... so I would appreciate somebody helping me out with that in mind (in other words, don't just assume I know where I need to input my own custom values). Does anyone have any ideas here? hi currently i am using this to goto new page: Code: <div onClick="document.location='nextpage.html';" class="active">sometext</div> how can i make it a popup to that page if i click anywhere in the div, thanks for any help. Is there a way to make a popup appear behind the current window?
Iv been looking and trying to get something like this forever but cant find it so can some help: I need a script that when you click the link it has a popup box with a form in it but thats easy to find, what im having trouble finding is a script that when you click submit on the form it stays in the popup box and you could use the information submited in the form. Hello all! I wanted to say hey as this is my first post! I will probably stick around for a little, but I need help first. I'm trying to make a code for something on a forum. It will prompt the user for a yes or cancel, then save a cookie with their answer. Then the next time the script is called, it will check for the cookie. If there is one saved, it won't prompt and use that value. Here's my breakdown (hope this is right) 1. Have a popup box that prompt for a 'yes' or 'cancel' Code: if(window.confirm("Use WHATEVER theme?")) { * * location.href = "URL HERE"; } Got that! 2. Save a cookie with the answer Here is where I need the help. I really don't have a clue other than the fact that you use setCookie(name, value, expire). I'm guessing that there will need to be something special in the value section. 3. When the script is loaded, it will check for the cookie saved and do whatever was saved Again, I need help. I know I'll need the getCookie function, but I dont know what else. As you can see, I'm rather hazy in the cookies department. If you ha any trouble and now understand it, please direct me to where you learned it as I am willing and wanting to learn this inportant function of JavaScript! I tried to provide as much detail as possible, but if you have questions ask! Any help would be greatly appreciated, whether or not it's the code I need. Whether it is direction or step by step help, I will still value it! Thanks! |
