JavaScript - Copying Form Results To A Second Form Text Area
Hello, I have 2 things I'm trying to figure out.
1. First form on the page has questions with radio buttons. Each radio's value is a number so a score is assessed at the end. 2. Second form on the page is an email the admin form, which duplicates the score in one field. Question: I would like to know how to write the form results to a text area in second form. However, I can't do this for one, and secondly, the value is a number, can I use labels? Here's the code I've 'made up' so far... JS (i know it's wrong) Code: <script LANGUAGE="JavaScript" type="text/javascript"> function display() { message = "<ul><li><b>Question 1: </b>" + document.quizform.Q1.label; message = "<li><b>Question 2: </b>" + document.quizform.Q2.label; message = "<li><b>Question 3: </b>" + document.quizform.Q3.label; message = "<li><b>Question 4: </b>" + document.quizform.Q4.label; message = "<li><b>Question 5: </b>" + document.quizform.Q5.label; message = "<li><b>Question 6: </b>" + document.quizform.Q6.label + "</ul>"; document.write(message); } </script> Form field example: Code: Question 1:<BR> <label for="Yes"><input type="radio" name="Q1" value="0" checked></label>Yes<br> <label for="No"><input type="radio" name="Q1" value="10"></label>No<br> <label for="I don't know"><input type="radio" name="Q1" value="10"></label>I don't know<br> Similar TutorialsI'll admit I'm new to javascript, so my apologies if this looks like crap. Code: Taken out due to fix I'm trying to get this javascript to return a level to this form field. Code: taken out, due to fix Hi, I'm a student learning web design and having a problem with some javascript code, I'm validating a text area, i dont have a problem limiting how many characters can be typed in the textarea, but I cant get it to give an error if there is no text in the text area. In the code below the validateMes() function is not working, the other functions work fine Javascript code: Code: function validateLimit(fld){ var error =""; if(fld.value.length > 300){ error = "Cannot exceed 300 characters.\n" fld.style.background = 'Yellow'; }else{ fld.style.background = 'White'; } return error; } function validateMes(fld) { //this function not working var error = ""; if (fld.value.length == 0) { fld.style.background = 'Yellow'; error = "The Message field has not been filled in.\n" } else { fld.style.background = 'White'; } return error; } function validateFormOnSubmit(form1) { //master validating function var reason = ""; reason += validateLimit(form1.mess); reason += validateMes(form1.mess); if (reason != "") { alert("Some fields need correction:\n" + reason); return false; }else{ alert("Message has been submitted"); return true; } } Html form code: Code: <form name="form1" id="form1" onsubmit="return validateFormOnSubmit(this)" > <div class="box"> <h1>CONTACT FORM :</h1> <label> <span>Full name</span> <input type="text" class="input_text" name="name" id="name" value=""/> </label> <label> <span>Email</span> <input type="text" class="input_text" name="emailbox" id="emailbox" value=""/> </label> <label> <span>Subject</span> <input type="text" class="input_text" name="subject" id="subject" value=""/> </label> <label> <span>Message</span> <textarea class="message" name="mess" id="mess" ></textarea> <span>*Message limited to 300 characters</span> <input type="submit" class="button" value="Submit Form" /> </label> </div> </form> I can't see what I'm doing wrong, would really appreciate some help Thanks I am running some javascript code which generates a popup window associated with a spell checking program. The way the program works, is that it takes the text out of a text field (passed as an object), spell checks the string, then puts it back into the text area field. My text area is located within a flash form, and I am having trouble pointing to it. I am sure my spell checking program is working, as it works fine if I point to an html text area. Do I have to do something special to point to a flash form object? Here is my code: Code: <!--- Source the JavaScript spellChecker object ---> <script language="javascript" type="text/javascript" src="../Spellchecking/spellerpages-0.5.1/speller/spellChecker.js"> </script> <!--- Call a function like this to handle the spell check command ---> <script language="javascript" type="text/javascript"> function openSpellChecker() { // get the textarea we're going to check <!--- pointer to text area ---> var txt = window.activity.Summary; // give the spellChecker object a reference to our textarea // pass any number of text objects as arguments to the constructor: var speller = new spellChecker( txt ); // kick it off speller.openChecker(); } </script> Also, here is my text area: Code: <cfform format="flash" id="activity1" height="#formheight#" width="100%" style="#formstyle#" timeout="3600" wmode="transparent" name="activity" onLoad="#initVars#; onFormLoad();"> <cftextarea name="Summary" id="Summary" html="yes" maxlength="1000" tooltip="Summarize your entry here. The field has a 1000 character limit. This summary is included in the generated End of the Week reports." onChange="submitTemporary('Summary', Summary.text);requiredContent('summary');" onFocus="if(detailsBox.height>60){detailsBox.height=60;summaryBox.height=220;}"></cftextarea> </cfform> Any help on this issue would be much appreciated. Thanks, AeroNicko Hello all I'm working on a simple feedback form (well not so simple for me) for the last page of my site. In the text area I expect to get normal western text PLUS (or even just) Chinese xharacters my question is how do you validate Chinese character input? low tech hi there, i'm new here and pretty new to js. i'm making a page for my daughter's school - or trying to. they are having a silent auction and i'm trying to make a very simple bidding page. where i'm running into problems is passing the bid to a text box (read only) where it can be updated when a new bid is entered. I would like this to be in the upper part of the page with the listings of the auction items, i just can't wrap my head around how to do this. I've gotten as far as the form for entering the bod and contact info. I have the php code to submit. i still have to get the validation js to make it more secure. thanks for any help. Code: <html> <body> <h1 id="logo"></h1> <div id="main"> <p> <h4>Silent Auction</h4> <form name="auction" method="post" action="send_form_email.php" > <label for="item1">Item 1</label> <br /> <label for="curr_bid_item_1">Current Bid = </label><br /> Your Bid = <input type="text" name="item1" maxlength="15" size="10" /> <br /> <br /> <label for="item2">Item 2</label><br /> <label for="curr_bid_item_2">Current Bid = </label><br /> Your Bid = <input type="text" name="item2" maxlength=="15" size="10" /> <br /> <br /> <label for="item3">Item 3</label><br /> <label for="curr_bid_item_3">Current Bid = </label><br /> Your Bid = <input type="text" name="item3" maxlength="15" size="10" /> <br /> <br /><br /><br /> <form name="contactform" method="post" action="send_form_email.php" onsubmit="document.getElementById('myButton').disabled=true; document.getElementById('myButton').value='Submitting, please wait...';"> <label for="first_name">First Name *</label> <input type="text" name="first_name" maxlength="50" size="30"><br /><br /> <label for="last_name">Last Name *</label> <input type="text" name="last_name" maxlength="50" size="30"><br /><br /> <label for="email">Email Address *</label> <input type="text" name="email" maxlength="80" size="30"><br /><br /> <label for="telephone">Telephone Number</label> <input type="text" name="telephone" maxlength="30" size="30"><br /><br /> <label for="comments">Comments</label><br /> <textarea name="comments" maxlength="1000" cols="40" rows="6"></textarea><br /><br /> <input type="submit" value="Submit" id="myButton" /> </form> </form> </div> </body> </html> I have 2 textareas, 1 which will be vissible, another that will be hidden. I have a function that mirrors (not in reversed lettering) the first textarea's input to the second. Code: function copy_data(val){ var messageText = document.getElementById(val.id).value document.getElementById('message').innerHTML = messageText; } So that copies from : <textarea name="text_message" rows="4" id="text_message" style="direction:ltr;" onkeyup="copy_data(this)"></textarea><br/> To: <textarea name="message" rows="4" id="message" style="direction:ltr;"></textarea> Then I have another function which when I select text in the "text_message" textarea will apply a tag to it, however I don't want this tag to be vissible in the "text_message" textarea but rather in the "message" textarea. Code: function formatText(el,tag){ var selectedText = document.selection?document.selection.createRange().text:el.value.substring(el.selectionStart,el.selectionEnd); if(selectedText!=''){ var newText=''+tag+''+selectedText+''+tag+''; el.value=el.value.replace(selectedText,newText) } } This effects from this checkbox: <input type="checkbox" id="bold1" name="bold1" onclick="formatText(message,'#28D')" checked="checked" > Could anyone please help me, I think I may have missed something somewhere, because it works if I point it back to "text_message" Fixed.
Hi I'm putting together the following website, HGV/LGV Training and have an issue regarding a form submit action. Basically I've used an open-source script for the search form so can't get any support from the Author. My problem is that I need the search results to appear in a different URL but at the moment they just appear in a new DIV on the home page. My knowledge of JS is limited and can't get my head around what the OS script is doing. I think the relevant section of the search form is as follows: <form method=post action=<?echo $_PHP_SELF;?>> <input type="text" name="zipcode"> <? echo show_country_codes(); ?> Any help on this would be greatly appreciated. Keith. hello everybody, I need help about, I need to change the result to opening a url page. This script results in a value and I need the result to be open a url page. It is not returning any errors, it is simply not returning the results of the form fields. The clear form works, the redirect works, the layout is fine, just no results. I am just beginning to learn Javascripts and I know this is a pretty basic script, but could someone be so kind to show me what it is I am doing wrong and teach me the right way to do this? I know it has to be something very simple but I keep going over it and i can not see what I am doing wrong. Rather than just post a snipit of the code I included the whole form so I do not forget to include any information. Thanks guys, I really appreciate it! The problem is when each entry has a number in it its submitting a rounded number to the database ie loc_long's value is -2.329102 but its submitting -2 for some reason, if you put numbers in the place or description fields its saving as a rounded number as above. If you put text in any of the fields its saving 0 instead of the text. The fields in the database as set to varchar so its not that. Can anyone help please. Hi, I'm working on a menu update form. I'm pulling the existing data from mysql and posting it into a form, using php. This works fine. But now I want the user to be able to modify the data and perform and update query to the database with the changes. I cannot figure out how to get the modified php text box data into my html form text boxes so I can run an update query. I would be ok with a button that transfers the php text box data to the html form data. Hope this is clear what I'm trying to do, seems simple enough, but I can't figure it out. Thanks in advance for any ideas. I have a form with results and ID's for each field, I can get an alert to popup with the results, is there anyway to display this on the webpage? This is what I have so far: Code: document.getElementById('result').write(account.value +" "+ rep.value +" "+ error1.value +" "+ fix.value); along with this in the HTML: Code: <p id='result'></p> Hi everybody I would like to be able to make it so that an order form only submits positive results. I have modified this form http://www.mcfedries.com/JavaScript/OrderTotals.asp for my friends website. She has 50 different products that she makes (different sizes and colors). The form submits results for things ordered but also for things not ordered. PROD_yellow_3.00= PROD_green_3.00= PROD_blue_3.00= PROD_red_3.00=1 PROD_purple_3.00= As you can see the only thing ordered is the $3.00 red product. But all the other ones not ordered show up in the form results. Is there a way to only send results of items actually ordered? I have looked at other order forms and they also send all results not just positive ones. Thank you. My javascript experience: none, only able to modify things. (And I wanted to ask this question on the site that has the sample order form but something wasn't working and I couldn't join.) All, I currently have a form on my page and I found this on the jQuery website: Code: $.post("test.php", $("#testform").serialize()); However, I want to do something after the results are posted so I think I need a hybrid of the one above and this one: Code: $.post("test.php", function(data) { alert("Data Loaded: " + data); }); Any help would be greatly appreciated. My form id is saveCrop, not sure if that makes a difference or not. Thanks in advance! I'd be grateful for any help please. I've just started to build my first ever sencha app and am pleased with the results so far, but am now stuck on one thing. I've built a search form and want to be able to display the results on the same page, but this is where I'm stuck. The form works and sends the results using GET, but it doesn't send it to the correct place. I want to show it on the same page (I've built a php file called search.php to handle the results), but it reloads the whole app with the variables in the url. I've tested all of the code away from the app and it works perfectly so I know the problem isn't with the code, but more with my lack of understanding of Sencha so would be extremely grateful for any help. Code: searchForms = new Ext.TabPanel({ fullscreen: true, title: 'Search', displayField: 'text', sto searchForm, iconCls: 'search', items: [{ id: 'searchSubmit', xtype: 'form', standardSubmit : true, scroll: 'vertical', items: [{ xtype: 'fieldset', title: 'Keywords', defaults: { // labelAlign: 'right' labelWidth: '35%' }, items: [{ xtype: 'textfield', name: 'keywords', id: 'keywords', placeHolder: 'EG: Music, TV', autoCapitalize : true, required: true, useClearIcon: true }] }, { xtype: 'fieldset', title: 'Advanced Search', items: [{ xtype: 'selectfield', name: 'genre', id: 'genre', label: 'Genre', options: [{ text: 'All', value: ' ' text: 'Country', value: '1' text: 'Sci-Fi', value: '2' text: 'Western', value: '3' }] }, { xtype: 'selectfield', name: 'media', id: 'media', label: 'Media', options: [{ text: 'All', value: ' ' text: 'Music', value: '1' text: 'TV', value: '2' text: 'Movie', value: '3' }] }] }, { layout: 'vbox', defaults: {xtype: 'button', flex: 1, style: 'margin: .5em;'}, items: [{ text: 'Search', ui: 'confirm', scope: this, hasDisabled: false, handler: function(){ searchForms.submit({ url: 'search.php' }); } }, { text: 'Reset', ui: 'decline', handler: function(){ searchForms.reset(); } }] }] }] }); I've then tried to use this to display the results on the same page, but as I say this just doesn't work. It doesn't call the search.php page at all. I've made sure all of the files (except the index.js file which is in a js folder) are in the same directory as the index.html file. I've also tried to load the file in the app seperately by using: Code: Ext.regModel('mobile', { fields: [ {name: 'text', type: 'string'} ] }); var searchForm = new Ext.data.TreeStore({ model: 'mobile', proxy: { type: 'ajax', url: 'search.php?keywords=test', reader: { type: 'tree', root: 'items' } } }); and that works perfectly so I know that all of the php stuff is working and does work with Sencha Touch, but I'm just not sure how to get it to only work when somebody clicks 'search' I'd be grateful for any help with this as I've spent days searching the web to get this fix, but nothing seems to be working I don't know if this is of help, but the main javascript file is: Code: var tabPanel; var homePanel = new Ext.Panel({ title: 'Home', iconCls: 'home', fullscreen: true, scroll:{direction:'vertical',threshold:7}, items: [{ html: '<center><p>Home</p></center>' }] }); var servicePanel = new Ext.Panel({ title: 'Services', iconCls: 'team', fullscreen: true, items: [{ html: '<center>Please choose a service</center>' }] }); var searchPanel = new Ext.Panel({ title: 'Search', iconCls: 'search', fullscreen: true, items: [{ html: '<center>Search</center>' }] }); var feedtabpanel = new Ext.Carousel({ title: 'More', iconCls: 'more', fullscreen: true, sortable : true, xtype:'panel', scroll:{direction:'vertical',threshold:7}, items: [ { title: 'Contact', html : '<center><h1>Contact Us</h1></center>', }, { title: 'Feedback', html : '<center><h1>Let us know what you think<h1></center>', }, { title: 'Tell a friend', html : '<center><h1>Tell your friends how much you love this app</h1></center>', } ] }); searchForms = new Ext.TabPanel({ fullscreen: true, title: 'Search', displayField: 'text', sto searchForm, iconCls: 'search', items: [{ id: 'searchSubmit', xtype: 'form', standardSubmit : true, scroll: 'vertical', items: [{ xtype: 'fieldset', title: 'Keywords', defaults: { // labelAlign: 'right' labelWidth: '35%' }, items: [{ xtype: 'textfield', name: 'keywords', id: 'keywords', placeHolder: 'EG: Music, TV', autoCapitalize : true, required: true, useClearIcon: true }] }, { xtype: 'fieldset', title: 'Advanced Search', items: [{ xtype: 'selectfield', name: 'genre', id: 'genre', label: 'Genre', options: [{ text: 'All', value: ' ' text: 'Country', value: '1' text: 'Sci-Fi', value: '2' text: 'Western', value: '3' }] }, { xtype: 'selectfield', name: 'media', id: 'media', label: 'Media', options: [{ text: 'All', value: ' ' text: 'Music', value: '1' text: 'TV', value: '2' text: 'Movie', value: '3' }] }] }, { layout: 'vbox', defaults: {xtype: 'button', flex: 1, style: 'margin: .5em;'}, items: [{ text: 'Search', ui: 'confirm', scope: this, hasDisabled: false, handler: function(){ searchForms.submit({ url: 'search.php' }); } }, { text: 'Reset', ui: 'decline', handler: function(){ searchForms.reset(); } }] }] }] }); Ext.regModel('mobile', { fields: [ {name: 'text', type: 'string'} ] }); var searchForm = new Ext.data.TreeStore({ model: 'mobile', proxy: { type: 'ajax', url: 'search.php', reader: { type: 'tree', root: 'items' } } }); var store = new Ext.data.TreeStore({ model: 'mobile', proxy: { type: 'ajax', url: 'areas.php', reader: { type: 'tree', root: 'items' } } }); var nestedList = new Ext.NestedList({ fullscreen: true, title: 'Location', displayField: 'text', sto store, iconCls: 'locate', }); nestedList.on('leafitemtap', function(subList, subIdx, el, e) { var store = subList.getStore(), record = store.getAt(subIdx), recordNode = record.node, title = nestedList.renderTitleText(recordNode), card, preventHide, anim; if (record) { card = record.get('card'); anim = record.get('animation'); preventHide = record.get('preventHide'); } if (card) { tabPanel.setCard(card, anim || 'slide'); tabPanel.currentCard = card; } }); var services = new Ext.data.TreeStore({ model: 'mobile', proxy: { type: 'ajax', url: 'subcats.php', reader: { type: 'tree', root: 'items' } } }); var servicesList = new Ext.NestedList({ fullscreen: true, title: 'Services', displayField: 'text', sto services, iconCls: 'team', }); servicesList.on('leafitemtap', function(subList, subIdx, el, e) { var store = subList.getStore(), record = store.getAt(subIdx), recordNode = record.node, title = servicesList.renderTitleText(recordNode), card, preventHide, anim; if (record) { card = record.get('card'); anim = record.get('animation'); preventHide = record.get('preventHide'); } if (card) { tabPanel.setCard(card, anim || 'slide'); tabPanel.currentCard = card; } }); Ext.setup({ icon: 'icon.png', glossOnIcon: false, tabletStartupScreen: 'tablet_startup.png', phoneStartupScreen: 'phone_startup.png', onReady: function() { tabPanel = new Ext.TabPanel({ tabBar: { dock: 'bottom', layout: { pack: 'center' } }, fullscreen: true, ui: 'dark', animation: { type: 'cardslide', cover: true }, items: [ homePanel, nestedList, servicesList, searchForms, feedtabpanel ] }); } }) As of right now I have a code that will work in IE but wont work in FireFox...go figure. Basically what I want to have happen is when you type in an area code it will provide an output in a predetermined area of the page. For Example: Input- 512 Output - Austin, TX The code that I have doesn't work with firefox and I was just wondering if there was a code that would allow that to happen. Thanks! Hi, I have a form setup so that selecting a radio button opens a specific text field. The problem is if the user starts to enter information, then switches to a different radio button (perhaps they chose the wrong radio to start), the text they already started to enter on the previous textfield doesn't get cleared. This will be a problem later when inserting to sql. Here is a summary of the code: Code: <head> <script type="text/javascript"> function doClick(objRad){ if (objRad.value=="0"){ document.getElementById("textbox").style.display='block'; } else{ document.getElementById("textbox").style.display='none'; } if (objRad.value=="1"){ document.getElementById("textbox1").style.display='block'; } else{ document.getElementById("textbox1").style.display='none'; } if (objRad.value=="2"){ document.getElementById("textbox2").style.display='block'; } else{ document.getElementById("textbox2").style.display='none'; } } </script> </head> <body> <form action="insert.php" method="post"> <p>Please choose the business type: <input type="radio" name="rad" value="0" onclick="doClick(this)"> Sole Proprietorship <input type="radio" name="rad" value="1" onclick="doClick(this)"> Partnership <input type="radio" name="rad" value="2" onclick="doClick(this)"> Corporation <div id="textbox" style="display:none"> <input type="text" name="txt"> This is my sole proprietorship info.</div> <div id="textbox1" style="display:none"> <input type="text" name="txt"> This is my partnership info.</div> <div id="textbox2" style="display:none"> <input type="text" name="txt">This is my corporation info. </div> </form> </body> Any help is appreciated, Thanks in advance! |
