JavaScript - Show/hide Appended Iframe When A Particular Div Is Present.
I'm setting up an application that involves blog posts with comments boxes appended to the div that contains the posts. The comments boxes are in iframes and load an html file on the same domain. There are multiple posts/boxes on each page.
I need a javascript that will only run the append script when the posts are written and appear on the page. So in non js language, I'm looking for this: if div id post#5 appears on the page, show the iframe that contains the comments box that goes with post number 5. else don't show it. I don't know enough javascript to figure this out so if anyone could point me in the right direction, I'd be grateful. I have been studying php for a while now and i know that, i am now starting php oop and that going well but i have never done anything like this. Anway i am creating a booking system which at the end of the process asks who supplied your voucher which they then select a supplier. The issue i have is my client wants it so if groupon is selected then an input text box should appear so that the user can input a security code from groupon. So basically it is Code: <select name="supplier" id="supplier"> <option value="">please select supplier</option> <option value="Groupon">Groupon</option> <option value="KGB Deals">KGB Deals</option> <option value="Other">Other</option> </select> So if value="Groupon" then Code: <input type="text" name="security" id="security" /> should appear next to it. I don't know a lot about Javascript... still learning.. I am trying to create a show/hide effect that displays an image based on the users text input. I have coded this before for a list/menu and it works fine. With this particular project there are too many selections to choose from to put in a list/menu. I am trying to use if and else if statements to make this work. With the code the way it is only the first function on the list works. I tried just using repeating if statements and only the last function on the list works. Here is the code: Code: <script type="text/javascript" > function showSample() { if (document.getElementById('input').value='SW001') { document.getElementById('SW001').style.display='block'; document.getElementById('SW002').style.display='none'; document.getElementById('SW003').style.display='none'; document.getElementById('SW004').style.display='none'; } else if (document.getElementById('input').value='SW002') { document.getElementById('SW001').style.display='none'; document.getElementById('SW002').style.display='block'; document.getElementById('SW003').style.display='none'; document.getElementById('SW004').style.display='none'; } else if (document.getElementById('input').value='SW003') { document.getElementById('SW001').style.display='none'; document.getElementById('SW002').style.display='none'; document.getElementById('SW003').style.display='block'; document.getElementById('SW004').style.display='none'; } else if (document.getElementById('input').value='SW004') { document.getElementById('SW001').style.display='block'; document.getElementById('SW002').style.display='none'; document.getElementById('SW003').style.display='none'; document.getElementById('SW004').style.display='none'; } else if (document.getElementById('input').value='SW005') { document.getElementById('SW001').style.display='none'; document.getElementById('SW002').style.display='none'; document.getElementById('SW003').style.display='none'; document.getElementById('SW004').style.display='block'; } } </script> <style type="text/css"> <!-- #main { width: 400px; margin-right: auto; margin-left: auto; height: 125px; } #imageArea { float: right; width: 200px; } #formArea { float: left; width: 200px; height: 125px; } .image { height: 125px; width: 125px; margin-right: auto; margin-left: auto; display: none; } #SW001 { background: url(../_images/Colorfil/SW0001.jpg) no-repeat center center; } #SW002 { background: url(../_images/Colorfil/SW0002.jpg) no-repeat center center; } #SW003 { background: url(../_images/Colorfil/SW0003.jpg) no-repeat center center; } #SW004 { background: url(../_images/Colorfil/SW0004.jpg) no-repeat center center; } #SW005 { background: url(../_images/Colorfil/SW0005.jpg) no-repeat center center; } --> </style> </head> <body> <div id="main"> <div id="imageArea"> <div class="image" id="SW001"></div> <div class="image" id="SW002"></div> <div class="image" id="SW003"></div> <div class="image" id="SW004"></div> <div class="image" id="SW005"></div> </div> <div id="formArea"> <form action="" method="get"> <input type='text' name="input" id='input' /> <input name="" type="button" onclick="showSample(this.selectedIndex)"/> </form> </div> </div> </body> </html> Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks I want to be able to hide a DIV within an iframe from the parent document. The usual document.getElementById('element').style.display="none"; doesn't work as I can't point to elements within the iframe with it. What do I need to add to make it look within the iframe and not the parent document? Many thanks in advance. Let me start by saying I'm a noob to JavaScript. What I'm trying to do for my website is have a select menu that shows the number of div's that's selected. I found a JS that I could do that with, but it only toggles, not change specifically what's selected. So if you click the wrong one, it doesn't work right. Here's what I got: Code: <body> <script type="text/javascript"> function toggle_visibility(){ for(var i = 0,len = arguments.length;i < len; i++){ var e = document.getElementById(arguments[i]).style,d = e.display; e.display = (d == "block") ? "none" : "block"; } } </script> <select name="select" id="select"> <option>0</option> <option onclick="toggle_visibility('1');" >1</option> <option onclick="toggle_visibility('1','2');">2</option> <option onclick="toggle_visibility('1','2','3');">3</option> <option onclick="toggle_visibility('1','2','3','4');">4</option> </select><br> <div id="1" style="display: none;">Test1</div> <div id="2" style="display: none;">Test2</div> <div id="3" style="display: none;">Test3</div> <div id="4" style="display: none;">Test4</div> </body> Any help would be appreciated, cause I'm lost. hey i need help of all u guys.Actually the problem is that when i am loading this html page i just want the sign in page to appear and on click of cancel button i want a page to appear and on click of login button i get log in page..but the problem is that whenever i load my html page i get the sign in page and the page that is present on the cancel page..i tried showing and hiding and tried but i dnt know what more to do...please help me out..
