JavaScript - Firefox Issue With Iframe Partial Rendering
I am currently working on a simple site and I was looking into methods to take advantage of html partial rendering to make site maintenance easier without using a server side language. The code for the two pages is as follows:
Main html page: Code: <!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD XHTML 1.1 Strict//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/xhtml1/DTD/xhtml1-transitional.dtd"> <html xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml" lang="en"> <head> <link href="../css/main.css" rel="stylesheet" type="text/css"/> <link href="../css/default.css" rel="stylesheet" type="text/css"/> <title>Default</title> </head> <body> <div class="navigation" id="nav_div"> <iframe name="nav_frame" onload="loadNav()"></iframe> </div> <script type="text/javascript" language="javascript"> <!-- function loadNav() { nav_frame.location="../static_partials/navigation.htm"; } //--> </script> </body> </html> And the code of navigation.htm is: Code: <!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD XHTML 1.1 Strict//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/xhtml1/DTD/xhtml1-transitional.dtd"> <html xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml" lang="en"> <head> <script type="text/javascript" language="javascript"> <!-- function iframeLoad() { parent.document.getElementById("nav_div").innerHTML = document.getElementById("navigation_divs").innerHTML; } //--> </script> <title>Navigation Partial</title> </head> <body onload="iframeLoad()"> <div id="navigation_divs"> </div> </body> </html> The works fine in IE, but in Firefox 3.5.7 the iframeLoad generates an exception. The exception states the following: Code: Permission denied for <file://> to get property Window.document from <file://>. Firefox doesn't seem to like my usage of the parent object in that way, but I am unsure of another way to do it without using a server side language. Similar TutorialsWhat I am trying to achieve is when the Input Box value is increased or decreased using the up/down arrows that the new value will be writen to the Canvas, though the code I have works it dosent render properly. I also have a Span Tag absouletly positioned within the canvas which works perfectly but I'd like the Canvas text to work instead. Not sure if it's possible. Code: <!doctype html> <html> <head> <title></title> <!------------------------------------- STYLE -------------------------------------> <style type="text/css"> canvas { background:#222; } #length{ position:absolute; left:10px; top:10px; width:150px; } #text_in_canvas{ position:absolute; left:500px; top:100px; width:400px; font-style: normal; font-size: 25px; color: red; } </style> <!------------------------------------- CODE -------------------------------------> <script type="text/javascript"> var fps = 100; function draw_canvas() { var canvas = document.getElementById("myCanvas"); var context = canvas.getContext("2d");//returns drawing functions to allow the user to draw on the canvas. var width = canvas.scrollWidth; var height = canvas.scrollHeight; // var startPosX = (300); // Start Position from X axis var startPosY = (height - 50); // Start Position from Y axis // var length = document.getElementById("length").value; //Get's value from Text Input Box var text = "This is the number from Input Box: " + length; document.getElementById("text_in_canvas").innerHTML= text; //LEFT BLOCK context.beginPath(); context.rect(0, 0, 250, height); //position & size of left block context.fillStyle = 'black'; //background colour context.fill(); context.lineWidth = 0; context.strokeStyle = 'red'; context.stroke(); context.closePath(); //TEXT context.font = 'bold 28px sans-serif'; // set text font context.textAlign = 'center'; context.fillStyle = '#FFFFFF'; // set text color context.fillText(text, 548, 50); } </script> </head> <body onload="draw_canvas()"> <!-- CANVAS STARTS HERE --> <div id="" style="width:1000px;height:600;margin:auto;position:relative;"> <canvas id="myCanvas" width="1000" height="600" style="border:1px solid #000000;"></canvas> <!-- FORM BEGINS HERE --> <form id="my_form"> <label for="length">Outside too Outside Wallplate Measurement (millimeters):</label> <input type="number" id="length" name="length" step="1" min="0" max="" placeholder="" oninput="JavaScript: draw_canvas()"> </form> <span id="text_in_canvas"></span> <!-- FORM END's HERE --> </div> <!-- CANVAS END's HERE --> </body> </html> Hi all, I'm encountering a strange rendering issue with a chunk of code I'm developing. I'm building an object that will construct a drop down-esque menu. The menu has a function (addEntry) to add additional menu items to itself. When the user hovers over a menu entry - I add a class to the element to change the look (basically highlight it). However, when the mose moves over - some strange rendering occurrs and I can't quite seem to figure it out. Please have a look at the following fiddle, and click the link to open the menu. Edit fiddle - JSFiddle I created a page that has an iframe on it. Within this iframe I call an asp page. The asp page is supposed to do some work and then update the innerHTML of a <div> object on the parent page to indicate that processing of the page in the iframe is complete. The code works in IE but not FireFox. I am wondering what is the best way to make the script work for both browsers? Sub page JavaScript: Code: updateParent() { parent.document.getElementById("num2").innerHTML = '<center><strong>Processing complete.</strong></center>'; } Parent page: Code: <div id="num2"></div> I'm using buttons to scroll content in an iframe. Works fine on IE and Chrome. Firefox cannot identify the frame and I get this error Error: window.frames.iframe is undefined My code is Code: var mypage= eval(window.frames["iframe"].contentlayer.style); My iframe is Code: <iframe id="iframe" src="scroll.asp" width="320" height="480" scrolling="no" marginheight="0" marginwidth="0"> And the scroll.asp is Code: <!DOCTYPE HTML PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD HTML 4.0 Transitional//EN"><html><head> </head> <body> <DIV ID="contentlayer" STYLE="position:absolute; width:320px; left: 0px; top: 0px"> <img src="images/scroll.jpg" width=320 height=960> </div> </body> </html> Any idea why Firefox can't understand the reference? Anyone familiar enough with pikachoose to help me out here? Using a pikachoose slideshow inside an iframe and for some reason adding a url target of _top or _parent is not working. It just opens up the link in the iframe window no matter what i do. Anyone with an idea of how to fix this? I'm working on it in the staging area of my site- http://staging.susanb.com/ You can see when you click on one of the images it doesnt fill the entire window This just creeped up on me at the end of a project so im hoping its not a deal breaker thanks in advance!! Hi, folks! Having a big issue he i got a code that works fine in Chrome, FF, but seems unreadable by IE. Got a main HTML code that have a DIV tag, declared like this Code: <div id='leframe' style='visibility:hidden'></div> Then, I call, through a Flash file, an external function that says: Code: function loadNextPg(nextPg) { var varDiv = "<iframe src='pg"+nextPg+".htm'></iframe>"; document.getElementById("leframe").innerHTML = varDiv; } } It would load the HTML named (pg'+nextPg+'.htm), where nextPg is a String value ("01", "02", etc). It works WONDERFULLY in Chrome, FF, etc, but not in IE. Does anyone know if I'm doing anything wrong? Best regards and thanks in advance. Okay, this should be an easy one. I'm a JS newb, so be kind The code I have right now is an autosuggest feature, but currently, it only finds exact matches, not partials. I want it to find partials. I know the line of code I need to rewrite, but I can't figure out what JS function to use. For example, if a user types "pizza", i want "pepperoni pizza" to show up, not just things that start with "pizza". Code: // str is the string that the user is typing in // this.aNames is an array containing all the possible strings to match against // aList is the list of matches from aNames when compared to str autoCompleteDB.prototype.getMatches=function(str,aList,maxSize) { /* debug */ //alert(maxSize+"ok getmatches"); var ctr=0; for(var i in this.aNames) { if(this.aNames[i].toLowerCase().indexOf(str.toLowerCase())==0) /*THIS LINE NEEDS TO BE CHANGED*/ { aList.push(this.aNames[i]); ctr++; } if(ctr==(maxSize-1)) /* counter to limit no of matches to maxSize */ break; } }; Hello I have several issues with my multilevel drop down menu The First issue is : the page has 2 iframes (one has the horizontal multilevel drop down menu on the top) the below iframe has my site address Now, when i hover over the menu it does not open or expand but when i open just the menu without any iframes it does This clearly means that the menu is not coming out of the iframe Please help me bring it on top of everything of the page Note: i have placed the menu in one iframe and a page opens below it in another iframe. The Second issue is : I want the navigation bar that is the multilevel drop down menu to be editable Which means i have a blog and a forum on my site but my visitor wants that the blog should not appear there and another link to play games should be there and hence he/she can edit it And please also try to make it work on cookies so that the user info and preferences are saved in cookies and whenever he/she comes back they see the page their way. For you: I would like to tell you that IdeaLab has launched a Twitter Advertising, Widget and Search platform and the first 1000 people are getting $100 go to tweetup.com Please help me, it will be really appreciable. Thank you very much in advance! Hello all, my second post! I finally got the below script working in Firefox and was really pumped about it until I realized it didn't load in Google chrome or Safari. What this script does is its a dual onclick event which makes a hidden div appear and loads an iframe within the now visible div. Here is the code, I would love any input on how to make this work in other browsers. Here is the header code: Code: <SCRIPT type="text/javascript"> <!-- var state = 'none'; function showhide(layer_ref) { if (state == 'block') { state = 'none'; } else { state = 'block'; } if (document.all) { //IS IE 4 or 5 (or 6 beta) eval( "document.all." + layer_ref + ".style.display = state"); } if (document.layers) { //IS NETSCAPE 4 or below document.layers[layer_ref].display = state; } if (document.getElementById &&!document.all) { hza = document.getElementById(layer_ref); hza.style.display = state; } } //--> </script> <SCRIPT type="text/javascript"> function loadIframe(iframeName, url) { if ( window.frames[iframeName] ) { window.frames[iframeName].location = url; return false; } else return true; } </script> Here is the code on the page where a link click shows the hidden div and loads the iframe contained. Code: <p><a href="#" onclick="showhide('div1');return loadIframe('ifrm1', 'http://www.google.com');">show/hide me</a></p> </td></tr> <div id="div1" style="display: none; position: fixed; z-index:4; width: 1010px; height: 500px; left: 5%; top: 15%; background-color: #f0f0f0; border: 1px solid #000; padding: 10px;"><iframe name="ifrm1" id="ifrm1" width="100%" height="90%" scrolling="yes" frameborder="0">Sorry, your browser doesnt support iframes.</iframe><p><a href="#" onclick="showhide('div1')">close</a></div>'; As always, any input is greatly appreciated! I want to have button2 populate form fields in a separate form with certain data I choose. The challenge is that the name of each text box is the same ("inputbox") and the id is dynamic, the first part only staying the same. So, the form element id would be "idb_4555557805340560...". There would only be one form element that begins with "idb." The following code works, but doesn't address the dynamic id. How can I do this? Code: <HTML> <BODY> <SCRIPT LANGUAGE="JavaScript"> function writeText (form) { document.getElementById('ida').value = "Have a nice day!"; document.getElementById('idb').value = "Have a nice day!!"; document.getElementById('idc').value = "Have a nice day!!!"; } </SCRIPT> <form name="one"><INPUT TYPE="button" NAME="button2" Value="Write" onClick="writeText(document.myform)"></form> <FORM NAME="myform" ACTION="" METHOD="GET"> <INPUT TYPE="text" NAME="inputbox" id="ida" VALUE=""> <INPUT TYPE="text" NAME="inputbox" id="idb" VALUE=""> <INPUT TYPE="text" NAME="inputbox" id="idc" VALUE=""> </FORM> </BODY> </HTML> Hi, Is there a way to print (sending to printer) the partial contents within the HTML file Ex: Can i print content of div2 only?. <html> <body> <div id='div1'> .... </div> <div id='div2'> .... </div> </body> </html> Can you please let me know your inputs. Thanks.. Hi Im Using YUI 2.4.1 and the dragdrop text box is not edited upon mouse click in FireFox 3.0 where as it works fine in IE. I iwsh i would get some light on this. the file used is dragsrop-min.js I'm developing a FlashCard App for Mozilla based browsers, and i seem to be having a strange problem. When i goto write the data file, it for some reason is not writing the CR and LF. In the datafile i'm just getting one long string of data. Hopefully i can get this app functional by today. Hello all, I'm trying to set up a web page to display a video when a user clicks on a link. So far, it works fine in IE and Chrome, but it won't work in Firefox. Any ideas? http://tinyurl.com/6u3jnq5 Is there a way to resize an iframe dynamically so that you never get the scroll bar and essentially hide that there is an iframe? Better integration really. Basically I want to iframe a forum into my site so that the design down the sides and top which my friend does using iweb are not messed with. We have a central area which can be longer or shorter depending on the forum. Hi there everybody, I've got this problem which I can't solve myself... I've got a website which has 3 colums and is hosted on domain1.com. in the right column I've got an Iframe which loads content from domain2.com . this content are some textboxes and a datepicker tool. if I press the 'search'-button in this Iframe I would like to refresh the mainpage (from domain1.com) so that another Iframe appears in the middle column. in this column i would like to load a new form from domain2.com which contains the values that I've put in in the form from the right Iframe. Unfortunally I can't get this to work... Will somebody please help me? Hi all, I hope you can help I have some code which: 1) Opens a URL (e.g. google.com) in a hidden iframe, then 2) Redirects the visitor to a different URL (e.g. yahoo.com) after it has loaded... This works exactly as I need. What I'd like to do is the following: 1) Open a URL (e.g. google.com) in a hidden iframe, then 2) Redirect the visitor to a different URL (e.g. yahoo.com) in a full-screen iframe 3) The address bar of the full-screen iframe should be my domain (obviously!) Here's what I have so far... Hidden iframe -> New URL Code: Code: <html> <body> <script type="text/javascript"> var page_body = document.getElementsByTagName('body'); var myframe = document.createElement('iframe'); var id = Math.random(); myframe.setAttribute('id', 'myFrame'+id); myframe.src = 'http://google.com'; //First open Google in hidden iframe myframe.setAttribute('frameborder', '0') myframe.setAttribute('width', '0'); myframe.setAttribute('height', '0'); if (myframe.attachEvent) { myframe.attachEvent('onload', function() { top.location = 'http://yahoo.com'; //Once loaded redirect to Yahoo -- but the address bar shows yahoo.com -- I want the address bar to display mydomain.com/page.html }); } else if (myframe.addEventListener) { myframe.addEventListener('load', function() { top.location = ('http://yahoo.com'); }, false); } page_body[0].appendChild(myframe); </script> </body> </html> I have an example of some code which displays the full screen iframe, but my problem is... ...I can't figure out how to redirect to this after the hidden iframe has loaded Here's an example of how I want the redirect to display -- after the initial hidden iframe has loaded: Code: <html> <head> <script type="text/javascript"> function sendParams() { document.body.style.overflow = "hidden"; } </script> </head> <body> <!--Open Yahoo.com in a full screen iframe, and disable extra scrollbar --> <iframe height="100%" width="100%" frameBorder="no" onload="sendParams()" src="http://yahoo.com"></iframe> </body> </html> I've been beating my head against the wall today trying to figure this out, and I'm fresh out of ideas. If you can help, you'll have some serious gratitude and good karma thrown your way! Best wishes, and thanks in advance, Paul I have used iframes for my site and found various javascripts so when a person clicks on say the audio page he http://www.krillmeed.com/index.html it takes them to the audio page but will load it into the index.html page. The problem is, especially with search engines, to point to that page, this is what the URL looks like to send someone to that page: http://www.krillmeed.com/?frame=0&sr...m%2Faudio.html which is not very clean at all, this is the javascript that i found that at least works: Child iframe script: Code: <script type="text/javascript"> (function(){ var qstr = '?frame=0&src=' + encodeURIComponent(location.href), lre = new RegExp('^' + location.protocol + '//' + location.hostname + '(()|(/)|(/index.html)|(/index.php))(()|(\\' + qstr + '))$'); if (!lre.test(parent.location.href)){ top.location.href = '/' + qstr; } })(); </script> Parent iframe Script: Code: <script type="text/javascript"> (function(){ function getQval(n) { if(typeof n !== 'string'){ return null; } var r = new RegExp('[?&;]' + n + '=([^&;#]*)'), m = location.search; return (m = r.exec(m))? unescape(m[1]) : null; } var f = getQval('frame'), s = getQval('src'); if(f && frames[f] && s && s.indexOf(location.protocol + '//' + location.hostname + '/') === 0){ frames[f].location.href = s; } })(); </script> Is there a "cleaner" way of doing this? This was an old code, i have yet to find a more modern one. Thank you in advance. |
