Here's my object constuctor:

	this.in_result_div = false;

	this.search_element = document.getElementById(result_id);
}

And the execution code:

document.getElementById(result_id).onmouseover = function(){suggest.in_result_div = true;}

It works as is, but i'd really like to be able to set the onmouseover inside of the object. Something like

So how can I get the 'this' inside the onmouseover function to refer to the object?

In the above code, the line I'm having trouble with is marked red.

Why is it that when I call the method using ...

this.price = get_price;

It works fine.

But if I assign the object this.price with like this...

this.price = get_price();

I get an error?

Isn't get_price() a function? So shouldn't the parenthesis be included when the method is called? Why are we suppose to leave out the parenthesis?! I'm confused.

Hi, I'm relativly new to JS and brand new to the forum so you might need to dumb down your replys for my slightly lacking knowledge. That being said I do have a very solid grasp of html, css and am getting there with JS and its various frameworks.

I'm integrating wordpress into an existing site for a friend and currently have the main blog page appear in a DIV. This is the best way to integrate in this case due to many reasons mostly of way the site is constructed.

My issue is that links within that DIV, in the blog, when clicked redirect the page. The simple answer to this would be to have them just open in a new page, which I can easily do with the below code.

Why Does Alerting A Record Create A Dialogue Box With Only [object Object] Inside It?

Hi, every time I try and alert:

it just shows [object object], [object object], [object object].

Why is this and what can I do to make the record be shown as it is above in an alert?

Get Variable Name Of An Object From Inside The Object

Hello.

Is there any way to get the variable name of an object from inside the object?

E.g.

PHP Code:

This way I cannot create new timer objects with different variable names

I have tried:
this.timer = setTimeout("this.start()",1000);
but it doesn't work.

That's why it would be good to detect the variable name and instead use something like this:
this.timer = setTimeout(varname+".start()",1000);

I would rather not have to pass the variable name through a parameter like this:
Timer1 = new Timer(10, obj, "Timer1");

Hi guys,

I have a <div> tag that is getting updated by calling a php script. Inside of the div's innerHTML, there is a <select> tag.

I need to be able to change the div whenever a user changes the select tag. How can I do this?

I've been trying to get the select tag, but it doesn't seem to evaluate right. Ex:

(note, the select's name is "courseselect")

Focus On Element Inside Iframe

Hi I have this page below which I run locally that is created dynamically:

I need a piece of javascript to focus on the captcha as shown in the image inside the green box.
At this minute I have this which doesn't work all that great for some reason but it gets it to the general area...

I have something that's called with AJAX when the user enters some text (http://askvoke.com). What I want is to execute some javascript within this "frame". If the frame calls something, with say Code:

Hello. I have a youtube video that autoplays everytime one opens the webpage containing the video. The only extra parameter that causes the video to autoplay is having the following added at the end of the embed src link: "&autoplay=1" If that is not present or if a zero is present in place of the 1, the video does not autoplay.

I would like the video to play only once per session. If one is visiting the webpage a second time, the parameter above should not be present or the 1 should be a zero.

I am modifying attempting to modify this code: http://www.javascriptkit.com/script/...2/postit.shtml and I am able to get differnt urls to print on screen depending if it's a first visit or not.

Problem 1: I cannot however get this to work in Google Chrome.

Problem 2: When I attempt to get the url to be printed inside the embed src [/B]link, which is inside the object tag, the javascript either gets printed or that portion is ignored. I don't know if this is because of the quotations and the way I am handling them or if because javascript cannot be inserted inside an object tag.

Hi all,

Trying to something i guess is pretty basic but i cant seem to get it working. I have a page with an iframe name="grid" and on that page i am also running a mootools script which toggles a pannel.

The javascript for the pannel is:

but no joy.

I want more than one link to be able to do this (calling different pages to the iframe and each one toggling the pannel)

Can anyone help?

I am a newbie to learning Javascript. I have some problems with a file.

The goal of the file is that when it loads in a browser, the 1st image is displayed in the top left (image 7441805.gif), along with the following three titles to the right of the image, as listed below:

Java Demystified
OOP Demystified
Data Structures Demystified

When you place the mouse over "Java Demystified," the 7441805.gif image should still appear (which it does)), and a new window
should pop-up and stay on the screen displaying "10% Discount for Java Demystified" until the user decides to do away with
the new window by clicking on the "X". The new window does appear for about less than a second , and then goes away
(actually it continuously flashes on and off very quickly), which is not what I want.

When you place the mouse over "OOP Demystified," the 0072253630.jpg image should appear (which it does), and a new window
should pop-up and stay on the screen displaying "20% Discount for OOP Demystified" until the user decides to do away with the new
window by clicking on the "X". The new window does appear for about less than a second , and then goes away
(actually it continuously flashes on and off very quickly), which is not what I want.

When you place the mouse over "Data Structures Demystified," the 7417436.gif image should appear (which it does), and a new window
should pop-up and stay on the screen displaying "15% Discount for Data Structures Demystified" until the user decides to do away with the new

All of the files are loaded on my laptop, which is using Vista, is 32bit, has the IE9 browser installed, and pop-ups are disabled.
When I try to use Mozilla (version 6.0), I am unable to disable the pop-ups, and therefore can not even get any new windows to open.

I would appreciate your help.

Hey All,

I have the following function - where I can get one of the conditions to work, but not both together. Here's the code:

Basically when clicking an error link, I want to focus onto the form field, and then move to the anchor itself on the page. One of these will work at a time, but not both and I'm not sure why.

Hi there! I've been searching for threads to solve my problem but I don't have the knowledge necessary to figure it out (you know, graphic designers....) so your help will be very appreciated!!!

Here's the problem :

I have a div named "cat" that I want to hide with a Javascript:animatedcollapse (slideup) action. The action is linked externally on another page.

This is the line/link that hides it :
<a href="javascript:animatedcollapse.hide('cat')">Hide the div<br/>

It works fine.

But, I want this action to happen at the same time that you press another link (that other link opens a page in an iframe).

This is the iframe link :
<p><a href="page.html" target="iframe">Open link in iframe</a></p>

Both links work fine. But i want to merge the two together. How?

I am very new to javascript and cannot find any info anywhere regarding the following problem:

On my website I have around 100 pages containing an action form. Occasionally it is necessary to cancel the action throughout the 100 pages which is very time-consuming. Then the action has to be reinstated once again for all the 100+ pages. I thought the solution would be to use javascript to change the action from a .js file which would mean only one page, the .js file, would require alteration:

The action that appears on all 100+ pages several times that I am trying to change or stop happening by overwriting the "form action":

I can't get any info from Firebug except that one line, uncaught exception [object Object]. The code fully worked, then I needed to make it dynamically create Sortables from the scriptaculous library based on how many X were in a table in my database, which I've done, and I'm thinking it may be a simple slight parse error of some type, I'm not too good with Javascript, because now my script barely works. However, if I change renderfunction to true, all my properties become undefined.

Why isn't this working as I expect it to?

Here's the scenario I wish to plan out.

I have an index.htm page ready. I want to be able to put in javascript code into the HTML coding that will write the ip address of the actual server that is hosting the website into a hidden text box. Then I want to insert this ip address into a hyperlink in the original index.htm to link to another html page (this will be a SSL secure page instead i.e. https://<ip address>).

Also vice versa. (With SSL index.htm page have code that writes ip into hidden text box then hyperlink to the original http index page)

Here's what I think SHOULD happen: Response is initialized as a global variable with a value of "" setOnLoadCallback calls getMyBlogFeed which creates a blog object, then calls getBlogPostFeed which calls handleBlogFeed. handleBlogFeed stores a new string to global variable Response an alert pops up with the value of Response (as given by handleBlogFeed)
What actually happens is that the alert pops up with the original value of Response. I know that I can issue the alert inside handleBlogFeed, but that isn't the issue. My issue is that I'd like to use Response in other functions, but it isn't being updated as a global variable. What am I doing wrong that Response isn't updating?

On a related note, is there a way to return a variable from my handleBlogFeed function? How would I do that? -- I can't seem to figure it out.
