JavaScript - Javascript Noob: Onmouseover Color Fade/change Effect Help
Hello everybody!
This is my first post at CodingForums! I'm currently designing a wordpress theme, and I require a bit of javascript for a hover effect. I'm using Wordpress Jquery + Jquery Color Animations plugin. The structu I use a div (class="post") as a container for the wordpress post, and within the "post" div, I have a span (class="title") which I use to display the title of the post. What I want to do is: when the user hovers over (OnMouseOver) "post" div: ".title" spans's background color fades from black to red. when the user hovers out (OnMouserOut) "post" div: ".title" spans's background color fades back to black. The Code Code: $j(document).ready(function(){ $j(".posts").hover(function(){ $j (".posts .title").animate({ backgroundColor: "#FF0062" }, 300); },function(){ $j(".posts .title").animate({ backgroundColor: "#231F20" }, 300); }); }); The Problem The code works, except when the user hovers over any "post" div, all "title" span change color. So my question is, how do I target the code to address ONLY the "title" span in the "post" div that is in hover state? Any help would be greatly appreciated, Cheers, Drew. All i want to do is simply change the color of a hotspot when the mouse rolls over. I have really only been able to find solutions for introducing images on mouse over. Any help appreciated thanks http://www.javascriptkit.com/javatut...rnalphp2.shtml Anyone have a decent way of adding a fade affect to this script? Hi, what I want to do is create a menu with rollover buttons but each button also changes the background image of a div. I've managed to change the colour of the div but not add an image there. I've added my code so you can have a look. Case 0 shows me attempting to change the background image. I must be doing something wrong. I've left the other cases as colours so you can see how I did that. I eventually want it all to be images. I'm creating a Joomla website (not sure if that makes a difference). Code: <body onload="addHandlers()"> <script type="text/javascript" language="javascript"> function addHandlers(){ var allMenus = document.getElementById("services_menu").getElementsByTagName("li"); for(var k = 0; k < allMenus.length; k++) { allMenus[k].setAttribute('onmouseover', 'ChangeContentBg('+ k + ')' ); allMenus[k].setAttribute('onmouseout', 'Reset()'); } } </script> <script type="text/javascript"> function ChangeContentBg(i) { var Num = parseInt(i); var ContentDiv = document.getElementById("content"); switch(Num) { case 0: ContentDiv.style.background-image = 'url(../images/waxingtinting_rollover_image.jpg)'; break; case 1: ContentDiv.style.backgroundColor = 'red'; break ; case 2: ContentDiv.style.backgroundColor = 'purple'; break ; case 3: ContentDiv.style.backgroundColor = 'green'; break ; case 4: ContentDiv.style.backgroundColor = 'yellow'; break ; /*For each new color you would have to add a new case and change ChangeContentBg() parameter , to the case you want in <li> tag*/ } } function Reset() { document.getElementById("content").style.backgroundColor = ''; } </script> Hi guys, I need some help. Im trying to make a navagation menu with images that need to be changed when someone hovers over the child category. So lets say I have a menu that looks like this: Code: <img src="notactiveimagemenu1.jpg" alt=""> <ul id="menu1"> <li>link</li> <li>link</li> <li>link</li> </ul> <img src="notactiveimagemenu2.jpg" alt=""> <ul id="menu2"> <li>link</li> <li>link</li> <li>link</li> </ul> Now what im trying to do is if someone hovers over the li items from menu1 to change the image src of menu1.jpg to active. I was hoping to do this with some javascript. Code: // i was thinking about something like this: // first put menu items in a array // then use document.getElementById(id).onmouseover = function() // and make some sort of check to see which src should be changed. Now I really have no clue how to do it. So if anyone knows a cool solution please let me know. I know I could add onmouseover events to each li item and changing the src of the category. But Im trying to find a better solution. And I think I should be able to use document.getElementById(id).onmouseover = function() for that. Anyway thanks for any tips. Please note I know I could use jquery to do all of this very easy but I consider this practice because I don't know that much javascript. I need to have an image hyperlinked to a js function that fades text elswhere on the page. I imagine it looks something like <a href="(some js function or somethingrather"><img src="theimg.png"></a>, but how do I do it exactly? I would like code that I can just copy and paste in my header that is set to fade a specific line of text, and be able to hyperlink and image to initiate the js. Please help. This is my first time in the forum and I have been reading for a while. The information in here appears to be very accurate and useful. I am new to JavaScript. I have been programming sites for a while but have been using Flash for most of my animation and never really got into the ActionScript. Thanks to Apple... I can no longer use that crutch. So as I post in this forum please understand 2 things: 1 I am a beginner in JavaScript and 2. I want to learn not just copy, paste and move on! Here is my issue: I have made a VERY SIMPLE slide show and it works perfectly. However, Now I want to add a fade in and out effect to the code. I have seen this done with the CSS opacity(alpha) and that seems to be the simplist way. However, I am having trouble fitting this into my code. Any direction in this matter would be great! Thanks so much! Code: var step=1 function switchImg() { if (!document.images) return document.images.slide.src=eval("image"+step+".src") if (step<9) step++ else step=1 setTimeout("switchImg()",3500) } switchImg() Hello - I'm trying to add a fade effect between slideshow transitions. The script I'm building from is the Rich HTML Slideshow script which appears below. The slides that rotate are wrapped in <div> tags with a class of "dyncontent" and I've managed to make the slideshow transition just fine, but not with any kind of fade effect. It just "snaps" from one slide to the next. Is this a fairly simple addition? Thanks! <script type="text/javascript"> if (document.all || document.getElementById){ //if IE4 or NS6+ document.write('<style type="text/css">\n') document.write('.dyncontent{display: none; width: 250px; height: 60px;}\n') document.write('</style>') } var curcontentindex=0 var messages=new Array() function getElementByClass(classname){ var inc=0 var alltags=document.all? document.all : document.getElementsByTagName("*") for (i=0; i<alltags.length; i++){ if (alltags[i].className==classname) messages[inc++]=alltags[i] } } function rotatecontent(){ //get current message index (to show it): curcontentindex=(curcontentindex<messages.length-1)? curcontentindex+1 : 0 //get previous message index (to hide it): prevcontentindex=(curcontentindex==0)? messages.length-1 : curcontentindex-1 messages[prevcontentindex].style.display="none" //hide previous message messages[curcontentindex].style.display="block" //show current message } window.onload=function(){ if (document.all || document.getElementById){ getElementByClass("dyncontent") setInterval("rotatecontent()", 2000) } } </script> Hi guys, Am creating a web page in which a user searches a customer using customer id. Code: <body> <form> Value1: <input type="text" name="one" id="one" ><br/> Value2: <input type="text" name="two" id="two" value="" onClick="hallo();"> <br/> Value3: <input type="text" name="three" id="$cell" value="test data"> </form> <?php require_once("database.php"); $CustID=$_POST['CustomerID']; $query="SELECT c.*,r.Meter_No,r.January,r.February,r.March,r.April,r.May,r.June FROM customer AS c,readings AS r WHERE c.CustomerID=r.CustomerID AND c.CustomerID='".$CustID."'"; $result=mysql_query($query); $num=mysql_numrows($result); mysql_close(); ?> <table border="0" cellspacing="2" cellpadding="2"> <tr> <th><font face="Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif">CustomerID</font></th> <th><font face="Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif">Title</font></th> <th><font face="Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif">First_Name</font></th> <th><font face="Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif">Last_Name</font></th> <th><font face="Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif">Meter_No</font></th> <th><font face="Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif">January</font></th> <th><font face="Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif">February</font></th> <th><font face="Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif">March</font></th> <th><font face="Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif">April</font></th> <th><font face="Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif">May</font></th> <th><font face="Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif">June</font></th> </tr> <?php $i=0; while ($i < $num) { $f1=mysql_result($result,$i,"CustomerID"); $f2=mysql_result($result,$i,"Title"); $f3=mysql_result($result,$i,"First_Name"); $f4=mysql_result($result,$i,"Last_Name"); $f5=mysql_result($result,$i,"Meter_No"); $f6=mysql_result($result,$i,"January"); $f7=mysql_result($result,$i,"February"); $f8=mysql_result($result,$i,"March"); $f9=mysql_result($result,$i,"April"); $f10=mysql_result($result,$i,"May"); $f11=mysql_result($result,$i,"June"); ?> <tr> <td><font face="Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif"><?php echo $f1; ?></font></td> <td><font face="Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif"><?php echo $f2; ?></font></td> <td><font face="Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif"><?php echo $f3; ?></font></td> <td><font face="Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif"><?php echo $f4; ?></font></td> <td><font face="Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif"><?php echo $f5; ?></font></td> <td id="color"><font face="Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif"><?php echo $f6; ?></font></td> <td id="color"><font face="Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif"><?php echo $f7; ?></font></td> <td id="color"><font face="Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif"><?php echo $f8; ?></font></td> <td id="color"><font face="Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif"><?php echo $f9; ?></font></td> <td id="color"><font face="Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif"><?php echo $f10; ?></font></td> <td id="color"><font face="Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif"><?php echo $f11; ?></font></td> </tr> <?php $i++; } ?> </body> As you can see from my javascript, i am getting the elements by id (getElementById("color")). Currently, only the first <td> with id='color' is changing when the value is entered. How do I make the text in other table cells with id='color' change color when the comparison value is entered? Here is my code, but it not what i want. I want only the link to change color or image on mouseover. Code: <html> <body> <a href="http://www.mobile2user.com/" onmouseover="document.bgColor='#EEFFFF'">Change the background color and bring up an alert box</a> </body> </html> Hi! New to JS... have been trying to rework this to call additional, independent sets of colors to cycle through (so it would loop thru a set of grays, a set of primary colors, etc). I would use perhaps a different function name in the HTML to call different sets of colors. If this is more complex than I think it is, I think 3 sets would be plenty. Would be hugely grateful for any help, thanks so much in advance. (demo link of script in current state at bottom) Code: <html><head><title></title> <script language=javascript> colors = ["#cacdca", "#b2b4b2", "#969896", "#7d7f7d", "#ffff00"]; cRGB = []; function toRGB(color){ var rgb = "rgb(" + parseInt(color.substring(1,3), 16) + ", " + parseInt(color.substring(3,5), 16) + ", " + parseInt(color.substring(5,7), 16) + ")"; return rgb; } for(var i=0; i<colors.length; i++){ cRGB[i] = toRGB(colors[i]); } function changeColor(target){ var swapper = navigator.appVersion.indexOf("MSIE")!=-1 ? toRGB(document.getElementById(target).style.backgroundColor) : document.getElementById(target).style.backgroundColor; var set = false; var xx; for(var i=0; i<cRGB.length; i++){ if(swapper == cRGB[i]){ if(((i+1)) >= cRGB.length){ xx = 0; }else{ xx = i+1; } document.getElementById(target).style.backgroundColor = colors[xx]; document.getElementById(target).style.backgroundImage.show; set = true; i=cRGB.length; } } set ? null : document.getElementById(target).style.backgroundColor = colors[1]; } </SCRIPT> </head> <body bgcolor="#333333"> <div> <div id="a1" onmouseover=changeColor(this.id); style="left: 120px; background-image: url(background1.png); width: 180px; background-repeat: no-repeat; position: relative; height: 80px; background-color: none"></div> <div id=a2 onmouseover=changeColor(this.id); style="left: 120px; background-image: url(background2.gif); width: 180px; background-repeat: no-repeat; position: relative; height: 80px; background-color: #666633"></div> <div id=a3 onmouseover=changeColor(this.id); style="left: 120px; background-image: url(background3.png); width: 180px; background-repeat: no-repeat; position: relative; height: 80px; background-color: #666633"></div></div> </body> </html> Demo: http://theclutch.com/rollover_color_..._bgndimage.htm |
