Hi, I am creating a HTML page and mailing it to the user(client side). This html page contains a Table and a button. On button click, I would like to create another HTML page based on the detail in the table, dynamically on run time and Open the newly created HTML. I need to use javascript to achieve this functionality. I have no Server-Client Configuration. And I need to run the Javscript only on client side to process the First HTML's table data and Create a new HTML page. The output of the javascript should also be put in a table format in the newly created HTML page. Here is some background information: The details from one server would be put into this first HTML along with a button. This HTML page is then mailed to Client side. The javascript in the HTML page then processes the Table data of first HTML. This can only be run at Client Side, once the user clicks the button and moreover I dont have Server-Client Configuration. I am creating a report and mailing it, For formatting purposes and for creating hyperlink to mailid's I chose HTML, Now I am struck here. Could some one please help me out with this. Thanks for your time. Hello, I actually use a counter on a webpage (It works) To do it, I use an inline javascript but I would like to unify the entire page and call that counter directly in the external Javascript that manages the whole site. Here's the actual code... Code: HTML <body onLoad=gen_hits()> ... <span id='hits'></span><SCRIPT language="JavaScript" SRC="http://www.mycompany.com/cgi-bin/counterdir/gcount.pl?NUMBER=../../otherdir/counter"></SCRIPT> ... </body> EXTERNAL JAVASCRIPT (ini.js) var hits="HITS "; function gen_hits() { document.getElementById("hits").innerHTML=hits; } and here a "view" of my request... Code: HTML <body onLoad=gen_hits()> ... <span id='hits'></span> ... </body> EXTERNAL JAVASCRIPT var hits="HITS " + <SCRIPT language="JavaScript" SRC="http://www.mycompany.com/cgi-bin/counterdir/gcount.pl?NUMBER=../../otherdir/counter"> </SCRIPT> ; function gen_hits() { document.getElementById("hits").innerHTML=hits; } Any idea how to modify it ? Thank you very much Gino I have an older website consisting of frames (html). Now I want to password protect one page. So far I added the following Javascript which I found on youtube: <SCRIPT> function passWord() { var testV = 1; var pass1 = prompt('Please Enter Your Password',' '); while (testV < 3) { if (!pass1) history.go(-1); if (pass1.toLowerCase() == "letmein") { alert('You Got it Right!'); window.open('protectpage.html'); break; } testV+=1; var pass1 = prompt('Access Denied - Password Incorrect, Please Try Again.','Password'); } if (pass1.toLowerCase()!="password" & testV ==3) history.go(-1); return " "; } </SCRIPT> <CENTER> <FORM> <input type="button" value="Enter Protected Area" onClick="passWord()"> </FORM> </CENTER> This works but the protected page opens in a new window not in the main frame. What do I have to add and where? Will search engines pick up this page and display it on the public? Thank you. CT favorite I'd like to modify a form on www.formsite.com (form builder app): username: testuser password: password I would like to use the nicedit.com's inline content editor's js to transform my textarea's into a richtext area. At present the nicedit editor works well in creating the richtextarea. However, the KEY point is that I would like formsite's form to pipe in the the created html and render it with the html component of formsite. Currently, the pipe function in formsite will only put out the html syntax in it's html module. action seen he http://fs8.formsite.com/testform/form1/index.html So this would be: 1. checking out my form on formsite.com 2. the script from nicedit.com is already installed in an html component. 3. changing or telling me the scripts/tags/or whatever for formsite form using formsites form builder (which allows some html/script editing). 4. changed so as to render the rich text entered on page 1 in page 2 instead of the html syntax. Any other solutions using formsite and any other richtextarea solutions would be great too! Hi, I am Aditya. I am explaining below the exact scenario where I need the help: I am developing a web application in which I need to integrate a javascript/html editor on some of the web pages and then provide 'Edit' buttons on those web pages so that users can edit the content on that partciular html/jsp page (like editing in wiki pages) and then, when they add some content and click on submit button, the new content should appear on the web page with all the formatting (i.e. bold, italics, color and so on) which was applied by user when he was entering the text. Now, I need help for the below issues: 1. Please suggest me a good javascript/html editor (freely downloadable) which I can use to integrate with my web pages. 2. Once the user has entered some content using the above javascript editor, how to make that content reach the server and update the corresponding web page. I am new to web development, so may be that these questions are too simple. But, I need some help from you. Waiting for your reply, Thanks, Aditya Hi there, Im a total newbie and learning html and javascript as I go along, so any help you can give is greatly appreciated! It is possible to perform a find in page search that looks at a specific link, opens the page in a new window and finds the text within that document?? Basically I regularly use an html page in work that has a list of people and their telephone numbers. I want to be able to type in a searchbox on my main page and it open the target page and find the name I am looking for? Is this possible or can you only Find In Page on the same page or another frame? Tearing my hair out........ Thanks Glen Hi Guys, I am new at JavaScript and start to do some tutorials. What I am trying to do here is prompting user to input a name and if the name was valid the page(document) will display with all objects like the button. But if user enter a wrong name then the button will be disabled! I create the following code but it did not work <!DOCTYPE HTML PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD HTML 4.01 Transitional//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/html4/loose.dtd"> <html xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml"> <head> <meta http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html; charset=utf-8" /> <title>New Web Project</title> <script language="JavaScript" type=""> function changeColor(){ document.bgColor = "Gray"; } </script> </head> <body> <script language="JavaScript" type="text/javascript"> var person = ""; person = prompt('What is Your Name:'); if (person == "Foo") { document.write("<h1 />Welcome " + person); document.bgColor = "Yellow"; } else { document.write("<h1 />Access Denied!!!!"); document.bgColor = "Red"; document.getElementById("gree").disabled = true; } </script> <div> <p/><input id="gree" type="button" value="Gray " onClick="changeColor();"> </div> </body> </html> as you can see I used the: document.getElementById("gree").disabled = true; but it did not work , could you please give an idea how I can solve this problem? Thanks Hello, I don't know if this can be done in Javascript, or requires any other language but i was wondering if this would be possible. I would like to embed this Javascript code in to a PHP file and then for it to run automatically upon the PHP file loading: Code: <td class="smallDesc"> <a name="fb_share" type="button_count" href="http://www.facebook.com/sharer.php">Share</a><script src="http://static.ak.fbcdn.net/connect.php/js/FB.Share" type="text/javascript"></script> </td> The Javascirpt is the Facebook Share button that basically allows users that have Facebook to share the page there currently on in their Facebook status by pressing the button, but if there not logged in it shows the login page, not a problem just continue the script. The current button i which is what i want to load automatically in the PHP file is located here, to test the functionalilty just click "Share" button in blue.. http://watch-movies-online.anyfilman...-Movie-17.html To summarise, i would like the above Javascript code to execute automatically upon pageload of this PHP file.. http://www.watch-movies-online.anyfi...p://google.com. If that could be done, and if this also is possible.. i would like for the "Share" button on the external page that is loaded from the Javascript code above to be clicked automatically so in effect when ever someone visits the PHP page after clicking "Click Here to Watch/Stream 2012 Online For Free" on this page it will automatically load the Facebook Share box, and automatically click the "Share" Button and then close the page if possible, but not required. Please feel free to ask any questions, i'll be happy to answer. Thanks in advance. Best Regards, Jonathan. hello guys the idea is to make "offline" bill of lading i used to do php thing and well this time i only need to kinda make bill of lading generator so i want to pass value from page 1 to page 2 and to page . all offline without web server interaction i was never fluent in javascript and i wanted to get a quick start from you guys how do i pass the form ( javascript variable from 1 page to another page ) i am googling this as well right now and hoping answer from codingforums thanks I'm new to all this, I'm having some trouble integrating a few bits of text from a XML feed into HTML. The feed is: http://cloud.tfl.gov.uk/TrackerNet/LineStatus Any ideas why it isn't working? Many thanks . Code: <html> <body> <script type="text/javascript"> if (window.XMLHttpRequest) {// code for IE7+, Firefox, Chrome, Opera, Safari xmlhttp=new XMLHttpRequest(); } else {// code for IE6, IE5 xmlhttp=new ActiveXObject("Microsoft.XMLHTTP"); } xmlhttp.open("GET","http://cloud.tfl.gov.uk/TrackerNet/LineStatus/",false); xmlhttp.send(); xmlDoc=xmlhttp.responseXML; document.write("<table border='1'>"); { document.write("<tr><td>"); document.write(xmlDoc.getElementsByTagName("Line").item(0).getAttribute("Name"); document.write("</td><td>"); document.write(xmlDoc.getElementsByTagName("LineStatus").item(0).getAttribute("StatusDetails"); document.write("</td></tr>"); document.write(xmlDoc.getElementsByTagName("Status").item(0).getAttribute("Description"); document.write("</td></tr>"); } document.write("</table>"); </script> </body> </html> hi, i'm new to this forum and want to say googdbye to everyone, it's long time i read you, now i have to ask a question: i'm creating a javascript program to obtain datas from an external webpage. I read the page with: Code: <body> <input type='button' value='Load' onclick="doLoad()" /> <script type='text/javascript'> /* THIS IS THE FILE TO READ */ var fileToRead="test.html"; /* THIS FUNCTION IS TO READ THE HTML FILE */ function IO(U) {//LA MOD String Version. A tiny ajax library. by, DanDavis var X = !window.XMLHttpRequest ? new ActiveXObject('Microsoft.XMLHTTP') : new XMLHttpRequest(); X.open('GET', U, false ); X.setRequestHeader('Content-Type', 'text/html') X.send(''); return X.responseText;} function doLoad(){ /* HERE IS THE CALL TO READ THE FILE */ var orari=(IO(fileToRead)); /* HERE IS THE PROBLEM */ var arrTR=orari.getElementsByTagName('tr'); /* END OF PROBLEM */ var arrTD_3nd_line=arrTR[1].getElementsByTagName('td'); var arr_p_1c_3l=arrTD_3nd_line[0].getElementsByTagName('p'); alert(arr_p_1c_3l[0].nodeValue); } </script> </body> line 21 is the problem, because Code: var arrTR=document.getElementsByTagName('tr'); tries to read from the html page where is the jscript, i thought putting var arrTR=orari.getElementsByTagName('tr'); where "orari" is the var in which it's the external webpage, so i'll get an array of every tr of the external webpage, BUT if i put document.blabla i get error beacuse arrTR is null and if i put orari.blabla i get error becaues getelementsbytagname is not a function No, i can't put the js in the webpage. Is there a solution? if not how to parse charbychar the var containing the external document? thanks a lot http://www.ebay.com/ctg/NorthPoint-N...1&_rptype=4295 At the above URL if you scroll down the page a little bit on the left bottom of the site you will see a image appear with an up arrow. If you click it it takes you to the top of the page. Could someone give directions on installing this script on a website. I would like to add this feature to my website. I want to make a prev|next (preferably with the numbers after too if possible) to flick through my work so I don't have to scroll around the page. 2. I want to create a slide down menu that stays open when an option is selected. Hope I've explained it well! Thanks in advance It's a sort of mad lib. I have written codes for both windows. I just don't know what code to write in, or outside the tellStory function to display the actual story once the other window is called open.... <html> <head> <title>Silly Storey About You</title> </head> <script> function tellStorey() { setupStoryWindow(); } function setupStoryWindow(name, contentString) { var header = "<head><title>" + name + " 's story</title><head>" + "<h1>" + name + " 's story</h1>"; var storyWindow = window.open('', 'storyWindow'); storyWindow.document.write(header); storyWindow.document.write(contentString); storyWindow.document.close(); storyWindow.focus(); } </script> <body> <h1>Tell Your Storey</h1> <form name="input" method="get"> <p>Your first name: <input type="text" name="yourFirstName" /></p> <p>Your gender: <select name=yourGenderList> <option value="girl">girl <option value="guy">guy </select></p> <p>City you'd like to visit some day: <input type="text" name="city"/></p> <p>A fruit (plural form): <input type="text" name="fruit"/></p> <p>Your favorite teacher's name: <input type="text" name="teacher" /></p> <p>Your best friend's name: <input type="text" name="friend" /></p> <p>Your favorite actor's name: <input type="text" name="actor" /></p> <p>A large animal: <input type="text" name="animal" /></p> <p><input type=button value="Tell a Storey" onclick='tellStorey();'</p> </form> </body> </html> //here's the story "One fine morning on valentine's day a" + yourGenderList + "named" + yourFirstName + "woke up so excited. For today was going to be a single's date night in" + city + ", which is well known for "+ fruit + "." + name + "'s friend" + friend + "recommended that I go because they ended up, curiously enough, meeting and marrying my high school teacher" + teacher + ". I'm just hoping to meet someone that looks like" + actor + ". I've had a crush on"+ actor + "for too many years now. Well, realistically, that probably won't happen, but as long as they look like a" + animal + ", then my night will be worth while!" Help with JavaScript in HTML? Okay, I have done everything that I can to try and figure this one out...I am stumped. I need to display the flag of the specific country when the radio button of that flag is clicked. The book states: Create a Web Page that contains a table with two columns in a single row. In the first column, create a list of radio buttons that contains the name of each of the 10 countries. In the second column, display the flag of the selected country in an anchor element. Use onclick even handlers to display the flag image for each selected country. When the page first loads, the image should be blank. Here is my code: Code: <!DOCTYPE HTML> <!--My Name--> <!--Chapter 8 Page 478--> <!--October 28, 2011--> <html> <head> <title>Country Flags</title> <script type="text/javascript"> /* <![CDATA[ */ var argentina = "argentina.jpg" var australia = "australia.jpg" var bolivia = "bolivia.jpg" var cuba = "cuba.jpg" var finland = "finland.jpg" var france = "france.jpg" var italy = "italy.jpg" var peru = "peru.jpg" var syria = "syria.jpg" var tunisia = "tunisia.jpg" /* ]] */ </script> </head> <body> <form name="flags" action=" " method="get"> <table style="border: 1; width: 100%"> <tr valign="top"> <td> <input type="radio" name="flags" onclick= "document.argentina.jpg" /> Argentina <input type="radio" name="flags" onclick= "document.flags.country.value=austra… /> Australia <input type="radio" name="flags" onclick= "document.flags.country.value=bolivi… /> Bolivia <input type="radio" name="flags" onclick= "document.flags.country.value=cuba" /> Cuba <input type="radio" name="flags" onclick= "document.flags.country.value=finlan… /> Finland <input type="radio" name="flags" onclick= "document.flags.country.value=france… /> France <input type="radio" name="flags" onclick= "document.flags.country.value=italy" /> Italy <input type="radio" name="flags" onclick= "document.flags.country.value=peru" /> Peru <input type="radio" name="flags" onclick= "document.flags.country.value=syria" /> Syria <input type="radio" name="flags" onclick= "document.flags.country.value=tunisi… /> Tunisia </td> </p> <td> <textarea name="country" cols="75" rows="20" style="background-color: Transparent; border: none; overflow: hidden"></textarea> </td> </tr> </table> </form> </p> </body> </html> Can someone please help me out here. Thanks Ok, problem has been solved! ^^
