JavaScript - Problem With Tinymce - Extra Textarea
I integrate TinyMCE with a web application. After plugging in TinyMCE, a textarea shows up on a place where no textarea is defined. So far, this problem happens on a web page with multiple textareas. It seems to be caused by either <fieldset> tag or a <TEXTAREA .. readonly>. A non-defined textarea shows on the top of these elements. Does anyone else run into the same problem?
Thanks. Similar TutorialsHello I'm trying to get the values from the TinyMCE with a javascript in to the url but it's not working, can any one help me? The script has been simplified to better understand mu problem, I can get all the rest of the form fields in to the url but not the textarea, it's a bit stubborn. Code: <script language=JavaScript> function reload(form) { for(var i=0; i < form.adtype.length; i++){ if(form.adtype[i].checked) var v1=form.adtype[i].value; var v2=form.title.value ; var v3=form.price.value ; var v4=form.subcat.value ; var v5=form.description.value ; <!-- TinyMCE description Variable-->// } var val=form.cat.options[form.cat.options.selectedIndex].value; self.location='new_ad.php?cat=' + val + '&adtype=' + v1 + '&title=' + v2 + '&price=' + v3 + '&subcat=' + v4 + '&description=' + v5; } </script> <?php $Description=$_GET['description']; echo "<label for=\"cdescription\">Description (required) </label> <textarea id=\"elm1\" class=\"required\" name=\"description\" maxlength=\"1000\" rows=\"\" cols=\"\">$Description</textarea>"; <label>Want <input type=\"radio\" name=\"adtype\" value=\"want\" onclick=\"reload(this.form)\" /></label> ?> Hi I have a CMS system using Tinymce and after making some alterations noticed the updates weren't showing up. After much messing (sql, set up etc) I started to delete the content bits at a time and came to the conclusion that is was the character ' as in what's any ideas why this is and how to solve it i'm thinking its due to php code! Cheers HI I'm new to tinymce. I'm using tinymce with jquery validate with remote Methods. (Remote Methods: http://docs.jquery.com/Plugins/Valid...Methods/remote) I'm using jquery validate to check if email address already has been enter into the database, once it check the email hasn't been entered. It then enter the email with the tinymce textarea. Right now the email address gets enter but tinymce textarea is undefined. I understand I have to uses the var content = tinyMCE.get (editor_id);, but its still enter as undefined, here is my code below: Code: <html> <head> <script type="text/javascript" src="js/jquery.js"></script> <script type="text/javascript" src="js/jquery.validate.js"></script> <script type="text/javascript" src="js/tiny_mce.js"></script> <script type="text/javascript"> tinyMCE.init({ // Location of TinyMCE script // General options mode : "textareas", elements : "editor_id", theme : "advanced", theme_advanced_toolbar_location : "top", theme_advanced_toolbar_align : "left", theme_advanced_statusbar_location : "bottom", theme_advanced_resizing : true, content_css : "css/content.css", }); <script type="text/javascript"> $(document).ready(function(){ var validator = $("#myform").validate({ rules: { email: { required: true, minlength: 5, remote: { url: "test.php", type: "post", data: { dataType: 'json', email: function() { return $("#email").val(); }, content: function() { return $("content").val(); } }, }, } }, messages: { sub_name: { required: "Please enter a email address", minlength: "Your email addressmust be at least 5 characters long", remote: jQuery.format("Sorry but '{0}' has already been added. Please try again.") } }); }); </script> </head> <body> <form id="myform" action="" method="post"> <input type="text" name="email" id="email" size="15"/> <textarea id="editor_id" name="editor_id" rows="15" cols="80" ></textarea> <input type="submit" value="Submit"/> </form> Where do I added? Code: var content = tinyMCE.get('editor_id'); content = escape(content.getContent()); content = content.replace("+", "%2B"); content = content.replace("/", "%2F"); thanks Hi all, After over a month of pounding my head against the wall (and getting ZERO help from the TinyMCE "support" forum), I have finally come up with a simple JS function (for the TinyMCE editor) that will wrap a selection with any open and any close tag one wishes, and keeps the selected text selected for further wrapping if desired. Here's the code (commented heavily): Code: /* -------- FOR TINYMCE ONLY -------- * wrap selection with BBCode or other tags * (c) 2010 r.a.krupski <krupski@roadrunner.com> * free software - use, modify, distribute freely ** -------- FOR TINYMCE ONLY --------*/ function tinyWrap(open_tag, close_tag) { var ed = (tinymce.activeEditor || opener.tinymce.activeEditor); /* get editor instance */ var selection = ed.selection.getContent(); /* get user selection, if any */ var temp_name = new Date().getTime().toString(36).toLowerCase(); /* generate a unique string */ var span_open = '<span id="' + temp_name + '">'; /* generate '<span id="unique">' */ var span_close = '</span>'; /* generate closing '</span>' */ selection = selection.replace(/<p>/g,'').replace(/<\/p>/g,'<br />'); /* convert <p></p> to <br /> */ if (selection.substr(selection.length-6) === '<br />') { selection = selection.substr(0, selection.length-6); /* strip last <br /> if present */ } /* create complete selection replacement: '<span id="unique">OPEN_TAGselectionCLOSE_TAG</span>' */ var content = open_tag + span_open + selection + span_close + close_tag; ed.execCommand('mceReplaceContent', false, content); /* replace selection with new */ var span_elem = ed.dom.get(temp_name); /* get the element of the temp span */ ed.selection.select(span_elem); /* select (highlight) the selection span */ ed.dom.remove(temp_name, true); /* remove the span, leave it's highlighted text behind(true) */ ed.focus(); /* insure editor has focus */ return; /* taa-daa! all done! */ } Hope this helps someone - I've got a few more gray hairs because of TinyMCE... hopefully this will spare others my agony...... -- Roger I can write all kinds of stuff, but one thing is failing me, and is extremely frustrating. document.getElementById('fakeid').value; which is my least preferred option, won't even work on this text area. Either will: Code: var objElem = document.getElementById(strId); var objElem = objElem.getElementsByTagName('textarea'); var strComment = objElem[0].value; It will work fine in IE but will not in Firefox. I cannot understand why as I've done this many times before. The code it is using is: Code: <div id="commentAdd"><h3 id="commentHeader"><a href="javascript:;" onclick="func_toggle_visibility("commentAddContent");return false;">Add a comment</a></h3> <div class="contentnopadding" id="commentAddContent" style="display:block;"> <form id="formCommentAdd"> <div class="comleft"> <table> <tr><td><span class="subhead">Add Comment:</span></td><td><textarea id="fakeid" rows="3" cols="35"></textarea></td></tr> </table> </div> <div class="content"> <input id="commentAddSubmit" type="button" value="Submit Comment" onclick="commentInitAjax(this.id,'comment','1',false);"> </div> </form></div></div><br><br> <div class="contentnopadding"></div> hitting submit triggers that function (which i haven't pasted all of it, just the necessary parts). I have an alert right after where i assign the value, but it does not work in FF. Please help, it's giving me grief (if it helps, the HTML is written by javascript, but i can't see how it would have any effect). This script works great for populating predefined lists of data into a textarea as selected by the user using a radio button: Code: <head> <meta http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html; charset=utf-8" /> <title>Populate Textarea Based on Radio Button Selection</title> <script> text = new Array() text[0] = Array('Hotel', 'Motel'); text[1] = Array('Couch', 'Bed', 'Chair'); function populate(r,f){ t=-1; for(var i=0;i<f.elements[r].length;i++){ if (f.elements[r][i].checked){ var t=i; } } if(t>-1){ f.thefirsttextarea.value= text[t].toString().replace(/,/gi,"\n"); } } </script> </head> <body> <form name="frm"> <input type="radio" name="test" value="0" onClick="populate(this.name,this.form)"> <input type="radio" name="test" value="1" onClick="populate(this.name,this.form)"> <textarea name="thefirsttextarea"></textarea> <input type="submit" value="submit" /> </form> </body> </html> However, I've coded all night only to come across an issue. I have an inline page style which calls/includes multiple pages. Two of these pages require this feature. It seems one is canceling out the other. Here's an example: Code: <!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD XHTML 1.0 Transitional//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/xhtml1/DTD/xhtml1-transitional.dtd"> <html xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml"> <head> <meta http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html; charset=utf-8" /> <title>Populate Multiple Textareas Based on Radio Button Selection</title> <script> text = new Array() text[0] = Array('Hotel', 'Motel'); text[1] = Array('Couch', 'Bed', 'Chair'); function populate(r,f){ t=-1; for(var i=0;i<f.elements[r].length;i++){ if (f.elements[r][i].checked){ var t=i; } } if(t>-1){ f.thefirsttextarea.value= text[t].toString().replace(/,/gi,"\n"); } } </script> <script> textt = new Array() <!--default--> text[0] = Array('Ham', 'Turkey', 'Chicken'); <!--all--> text[1] = Array('Beer', 'Soda', 'Water'); <!--johnny havana--> text[2] = Array('Milk', 'Cheese', 'Butter'); function populate(r,f){ t=-1; for(var i=0;i<f.elements[r].length;i++){ if (f.elements[r][i].checked){ var t=i; } } if(t>-1){ f.SECONDFORM.value= text[t].toString().replace(/,/gi,"\n"); } } </script> </head> <body> <form name="form"> <input type="radio" name="test" value="0" onClick="populate(this.name,this.form)"> <input type="radio" name="test" value="1" onClick="populate(this.name,this.form)"> <textarea name="thefirsttextarea"></textarea> <input type="submit" value="submit" /> </form> <form name="anotherform"> <input type="radio" name="anothertest" value="0" onClick="populate(this.name,this.form)"> <input type="radio" name="anothertest" value="1" onClick="populate(this.name,this.form)"> <textarea name="SECONDFORM"></textarea> <input type="submit" value="submit" /> </form> </body> </html> With the above code only the second set of radio buttons work. What I need help with is a way to have two independent sets of arrays the correspond correctly with the textareas - One set that populates textarea 1 and the other that populates textarea 2. Hi i have a problem, i've been trying to fix this for the whole day pls see my code below Code: for ($o = 0; $o <= $totalclass; $o++) { for($i = 1; $i <= 45; $i++) { if ($_SESSION['classification'][$o] == $i) { $sql2="SELECT ClassDesc FROM tblclass WHERE ClassID = '$i'"; $result2=mysql_query($sql2); // If successfully queried if($result2) { while ($row2 = mysql_fetch_assoc($result2)) { $ClassDesc2 = $row2['ClassDesc']; } } //echo $ClassDesc2; ?> <tr> <td bgcolor="FAFAF6" class="small" valign="top">Class <? echo $i; ?></td> <input type="hidden" name="<? echo "classid[]"; ?>" value="<? echo $i; ?>"> <td bgcolor="FAFAF6"> <textarea name="<? echo "specification[]"; ?>" COLS="50" ROWS="6" class="small" wrap="virtual" tabindex="<? echo $i; ?>"><? echo $ClassDesc2;?></textarea> <input type="button" value="Reset" onclick="window.reset();" name="reset"> </td> </tr> <? } } } i've trying to create a button or image to reset one textarea (from whole array) and so far i've been unsuccessful. i've seen this on other website and i know it is possible to do this, pls help! I have a webpage which has the prototype library in it as well as my own script. I just started on it, but I've already run into issues using the for... in loop. By the way, I can fix this by changing it to a normal for loop, but I want to know what I'm doing wrong. I have a mortgage calc that is adding an extra decimal place to my interest rate. To see this in action go to: http://www.keithknowles.com/elmtree/mortgagecalc2.htm Change the interest rate to 7.5 Click Calculate Payment Click Create Amortization Chart On the following screen you'll see a recap of your data and the interest rate will now say 7.55. Same thing happens if you enter 6.2. Next screen shows 6.22/ I've attached the html and js files in a zip. Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks. Hi-- I have found a neat trick to refresh an iframe in an html page, but I just need one little twist to make it work just right. I would like to make the iframe content refresh just once, not matter how many times the link is clicked... Right now, I have this in the head: Quote: <script type="text/javascript"> function refreshIframe(el) { var f = document.getElementById(el) var rsrc = f.src f.src="about:blank" f.src=rsrc } </script> And this is the link which, when clicked, refreshes the iframe every time it is clicked: Quote: <a href="#page_7c" onclick="refreshIframe('test'); return false"> "test" is the id of the iframe. I am sure how to do this is really simple, but it escapes me... Many thanks! hi guys i have a form and i am using javascript to make the password. The problem is i want to use multiple users however it doesn't work when i place a comma in so do you have any suggestions? i will put the code below thanks. Code: /*the following code checkes whether the entered userid and password are matching*/ if(form.userid.value == "darran" && form.pswrd.value == "password") Hello all, Sorry for not reading the "posting guidelines" earlier. I understand that you guys are not reading/loading complete codes, my bad. Let me try again. This is a code for checking numbers A1 -> B1, when there is a match, the code will be green, otherwise black. Can somebody explain to me how I can extend this script, that more then one array is checked?? Code: <script type = "text/javascript"> var a1 = ["2","5", "11","16","23","45", "46"]; var b1 = ["2","3","8","12","23", "37", "41", "45", "48"] for (var i = 0; i< a1.length; i++) { for (var j = 0; j< b1.length; j++) { if (a1[i] == b1[j]) { a1[i]= "g"+ a1[i]; } } } for (var i = 0; i< a1.length; i++) { if (a1[i].substr(0,1) == "g") { a1[i] = a1[i].substr(1,20); document.write("<font color = 'green'>", a1[i] + "    "); } else { document.write("<font color = 'black'>", a1[i] + "    "); } } document.write("<br><br>"); for (var j = 0; j< b1.length; j++) { document.write("<font color = 'black'>", b1[j] + "    "); } </script> Thanks a ton in advance Hello. I'm trying to open extra information if a user clicks on a TD, and close it if he click on it again. How I can do this? All I learned to do is to show it, but I can't find something that hide it if I click on the same place. Thanks for help. __________________ הורדות I have just used an Analysis Quiz tool (on this page http://javascript.about.com/library/blquizf.htm) to create a quiz which doesn't have right or wrong answers but adds the scores of the answers together. It all works nicely, HOWEVER I require 5 answers as opposed to the maximum of four which has been offered on this site. The (partial) code is: Code: var quiz = new Array(); var r = 0; var analPage = 'result.html'; quiz[r++] =('93726~71~1. How often do you have a drink containing alcohol?~Never~Once a month or less~2 to 4 times a month~2 to 3 times a week~0~3'); quiz[r++] =('48844~37~How many units of alcohol do you have on a typical day when you are drinking?~1-2~3-4~5-6~7-9~0~3'); I thought it would be straight forward and I could add another option at the end of each string and then change the scoring e.g. quiz[r++] =('93726~71~1. How often do you have a drink containing alcohol?~Never~Once a month or less~2 to 4 times a month~2 to 3 times a week~4 or more times a week~0~4'); but this didn't work ... please help! Thank you For various reasons, I need the value of my drop down box options to contain size information rather than price. However I would like to be able to calculate a price for the items based on what size the user selects as well as the quantity. Below is the code I came up with (which doesn't work obviously) What can I do to get this to work for me? Thanks in advance for any help! Code: <head> <script type="text/javascript"> <!-- function calc(A,B,SUM) { var price = document.getElementById(A).extrainfo; var quantity = document.getElementById(B).value; document.getElementById(SUM).value = price * quantity; } //--> </script> </head> <body> <label>T-Shirt: <select name="T_SHIRT" id="T_SHIRT" onchange="calc('T_SHIRT','Tshirt_QTY','total');"> <option selected="selected">CHOOSE A SIZE </option> <option value="SIZE: SMALL" extrainfo="10.99">Small, 34/36 (S) </option> <option value="SIZE: MEDIUM" extrainfo="11.99">Medium, 38/40 (M) </option> <option value="SIZE LARGE" extrainfo="12.99">Large, 42/44 (L) </option> </select> </label> <label>QTY: <input type="text" id="Tshirt_QTY" name="Tshirt_QTY" onchange="calc('T_SHIRT','Tshirt_QTY','total')" /> </label> <label>Price: <input type="text" readonly="readonly" name="total" id="total"/> </label> </body> Hi all, I'm loading external xml and displaying specific tagged elements in a textarea. It works fine in IE because I can turn the variable object into text with a simple object.text property, but in Firefox (using the serializeToString method), the object appears in my textarea tags and all. The code looks something like this (this is just a dummy script - imagine the xml is already loaded into the object xmlDoc ): Code: function writePage(){ document.write('<textarea name="inputText">'+myText+'</textarea>'); } function xmlIsLoaded(){ if(window.ActiveXObject){ //tests for IE myText = xmlDoc.getElementsByTagName("desiredTag")[0].text; } else { //tests for FF myText = (new XMLSerializer()).serializeToString(xmlDoc.getElementsByTagName("desiredTag")[0]); } writePage(); } What am I missing here? I've tried toString, textContent, innerText, childNodes - just about everything I can think of to get just the text w/o the tags from the xml for the FF version. Any thoughts? ~gyz Hello there .
