JavaScript - Browser Home Page

Hi I am not sure if this is a javascript issue but, Google Chrome version : 10.0.680 with one particular website, when I click around the pages, chrome tries to download the page, so for example, say the page is called contact.html, it ends up trying to download a file calling it cr.download contact.html

What is happening here - any ideas? Does that sound like a javascript issue to you?

I have a floating div that stays at the bottom of the browser window while the user scrolls down a long page. The div reads "scroll down for more". How can I determine the current position of the div in relation to the top of the page, not the top of the browser window. I need to determine this because I would like to hide the div when the user scrolls to the top of the last page. I have looked at offsetParent, offsetHeight, scrollHeight, etc.

I have the code for everything except determining the position of the div, or the distance of the div from the top of the page.

Hi All,
I am using a loop slider to scroll 4 pages. When I am on any page and click through the product on that. I go to the product but when I click the back button, it goes to the start of the slider rather then the page where I left it.


How to go back in loop slider from a back button to the page where we left the scroller. Instead of going to the start of the scroller.

It is annoying to go back again to start of the page and scroll all pages.


Any help, Highly appreciated.

Hi there, I basically need script that will detect if the user is using Internet Explorer, and then display a different page to the one that would be loaded for any other browser.

Is there a way to redirect your site to another site if the browser doesn't support HTML 5?

So, if you where using an old version of IE or Firefox that didn't support HTML 5 it would redirect them to another page.

Hi I am trying to trigger an event once the user clicks the browsers back/forward buttons, I have built a system just like facebook where if the user has javascript turned on they get the full feature of the site which includes fast switching for example if someone goes to this page "example.com/index.php" and click a link to contact.php it would change the url to "example.com/index.php#!/contact.php" but what I need to know is if there is any way to change the pages content when the user goes back and forth through the fast switch pages? something like "history.back !== -1" or something like that.

It's a well documented issue-
when you have a page that contains an iframe, and then navigate inside the iframe, hitting the browsers back button will only affect the contents of the iframe and not the entire page. I've been searching all over for solutions and cant find one that works for my current implementation.
Anyone have any suggestions?

I need a script that will redirect to a specific page is the browser is safari version 4. if the browser is NOT safari 4 I want the browser to stay on the current page.

I am currently using the websites tutorial about browser detection using the navigator.

I am however finding myself unable to detect a pattern in order to learn from.

My aim is to use Browser detection to have a CSS file for each browser type, such as Firefox, IE, Opera, Safari and then an overall CSS file if none of the above, to fix numerous flaws.

For IE and Firefox using the site's code is all well and good and while I haven't tested it yet I'm wondering how to set up the coding so that it can detect a safari browser.

There are lots of slashes and d's and brackets and I do find myself unable to understand their purpose.

So if someone can explain how I could do it for Safari I would be very appreciative.

Am working with javascript, need to pull the text content from a bunch of places on the page, then I build xml with them, and now i want to have a button that will take user to a page in the browser where all they see is the raw xml tree. Help?

Hello, I couldn't find another thread that had this problem but it seems like it would be fairly simple. I am also just now starting to learn JavaScript.

But when I enter this code into Notepad++

which assigns the image and caption for the first picture, and sets the Prev and Next buttons to disabled and not disabled respectively. So you start with the first image and caption, and an enabled "Next" button.

I have global javascript variables: num (init to 1), max (init to 7), img1..7 (new Image ()), img1..7.src (filenames for the images), text1..7 (captions for the images), map1..7 (maps for the images).

I developed this in HMTLPad (10.2) and it works perfectly in that program's preview mode. But it won't work in the main browsers!

In IE 9 (9.0.33), when you click the Next button, nothing at all happens. Image and caption stay the same, Next stays enabled, Prev stays disabled. Maps don't work.

Chrome (38.0.2125.122 m) and Firefox (27.0) behave like each other. The images change, but not the captions or the Prev/Next buttons. Maps don't work.

Is this to be expected? If so, how do I work around it?
