JavaScript - Force A Space In The Postcode
Hi all,
I have a script that validates a postcode, including checking that the 4th character from the end of the postcode is a space. To save sending you back to the postcode textbox to correct the error, how can I automatically force a space at the 4th character position from the end of the postcode? ie, CM12JB is wrong. Need to change it to CM1 2JB. Any ideas? Gary Similar TutorialsI was wondering if there was a simple way of notifying a user who has entered an incorrect postcode? I have found numerous answers to this problem but i am sure there is a simpler way to do it as ones i have found have rows and rows of code. Help is much appreciated Hi, basically it's a simple postcode validator. It checks to see whether the postcode is in UK format, then tells you if it isn't with an alert box, then I want it to clear the field. The input field's ID is postcode. Code: function testPostCode () { var myPostCode = document.getElementById('postcode').value; if (checkPostCode (myPostCode)) { document.getElementById('postcode').value = checkPostCode (myPostCode) } else {alert ("Please enter your Postcode correctly, this includes:\n \n * Correct Spacing - AA1 1AA \n * Correct amount of letters and numbers. \n \n Sorry if this causes any inconvenience, but it is to your benefit.")}; document.postcode.value=""; } Anyone able to help me? Hi, I would like to set the postcode Code: <?php echo $pubdetails['rsPostCode]; ?> as a default value in the form field so that the map area loads up automatically for instance the link above uses postcode bn11 3rg thanks http://auspost.com.au/apps/postcode.html Basically I want to build the same thing. The data is freely available there as a download. I couldn't find anything existing in the jquery plugin space. Can anyone offer pointers on how to achieve it? Hey I want to enforce a click on the facebook share button, please help me out here. I was thinking something like this: Code: javascript:window.location="http://www.facebook.com/connect/prompt_feed.php?locale=en_US&message=hi"; javascript:function selectFirst() { publish.focus(); publish.click();} selectFirst(); Something wrong with that code? What code would work? Is it not possible? Thanks a lot, Sarah We got our image view situation about 95% figure out, but need one last thing. How can we tell the image viewer to display 1 thumbnail, no matter the case? When a product only has one picture, as opposed to 2-4, there is no thumbnail associated with the main image. We would like to have one thumbnail appear no matter the case, as it fits in with page design. Anyone know how to edit the code to do this? I am writting a javascript that need to force the user to close the current browser and then restart automatically again after some operation. Here is the case : The user will retrieve a file from the server and save it in the local drive. After that, the browser will automatically open the .pdf saved with the browser(IE) but not Adode reader. If the user wants to update the previous saved .pdf in the local drive, they will need the user to close the opened file(saved .pdf) so that new updated .pdf can be replaced to the old .pdf file. So, I need to implement a function that force the browser to close, then copy and replace the old file, then reopen the file(new and updated) again. Is there any possible way of doing this ? Please provide me some idea. I have tried to look for informations online but I just got no luck. Failed with the coding provided. Thanks in advance. P/S : The file need to be closed in order to replace it with a new one. The platform using is Windows. Hey everyone. I am looking to enforce the use of 3 decimal places in an input. I have found some scripts that do this, however, I also want to format it this way in case someone enters LESS than 3 decimal places. If a user enters 1.25, I want it formatted as 1.250 If a user enters 1 I want it formatted as 1.000 etc. Possible? Not sure where to start. i want the scrollbars to be preset at the bottom of the div each time someone visits the site. Code: <div id="scroller-shoutbox" border="0" cellspacing="0" style="background-image:url(images/table-bg.png);border-bottom:solid 1px #333; width:498px; height:300px;border-left:solid 1px #333;border-right:solid 1px #333; overflow-x: hidden; overflow-y: auto;"> <table border="0" cellspacing="0" width="500"> <tr><td></td></tr> <!--- PHP array here in actuallity, but i figured it wasnt relevant to this post ---> <tr><td></td></tr> </table> </div> you can see the problem i am talking about here http://tomhilsee.com/ipool/index.php the latest content is unseen because the scrollers are at the top function below will output price value in text field based on drop-menu option. It's working but I want it's always show value in 2 decimal point for variable 'price'. Can anyone help me with this problem? function findPrice() { if (document.getElementById("region").value == "blank") { var price = document.getElementById("price"); price.value = "<?php echo 'Choose your region to get the price'; ?>"; } if (document.getElementById("region").value == "Peninsular Malaysia") { var price = document.getElementById("price"); price.value= '<?php echo $PM_Price; ?>'; } if (document.getElementById("region").value == "Sabah/Labuan") { var price = document.getElementById("price"); price.value = '<?php echo $SL_Price; ?>'; } if (document.getElementById("region").value == "Sarawak") { var price = document.getElementById("price"); price.value = '<?php echo $SR_Price; ?>'; } } I have an emagazine i want to add to my website, the probelm is when it opens in a browser you have to sroll down the page, to view it all, what i was wondering is, is it possibe to create a link that when somebody selects to view the magazine it forces the browser to openin full screen mode so that it fits niely on the screen without the toolbars and evertything taking up half the page. Thanks Hi All, I'm working on a javascript-only application that queries an in-memory database, at times requests (all internal to the JS app) are lengthy, so I need to post a "Processing..." overlay atop the clicked UI tab to provide user feedback that something is actually happening. For the life of me I cannot figure out how to push the "Processing..." content to the screen while the DB lookup is underway. It appears that there's only one shot at updating the display, and that's when all JS processing has concluded (ie, the data has been looked up and is displayed). Any tips would be greatly appreciated, what I wish to do may not be possible? Thanks in advance for your assistance! JD Good Afternoon!!! I am writing a script that needs to show the evaluation as 2 decimal places as well as containing the comma (as in a currency format). It should be as simple as possible. Below is my current code: <html> <script language="javascript"> //function that checks the value of text boxes and radio buttons function checkit(){ while(document.form2.text1.value=="" || document.form2.text2.value=="" || document.form2.r1[0].checked!=true && document.form2.r1[1].checked!=true && document.form2.r1[2].checked!=true && document.form2.r1[3].checked!=true) { if(document.form2.text1.value=="") { alert("You did not enter a value in the first text field"); a=confirm("Click ok to continue. Click cancel to exit") if(a==false) { break; } } if((document.form2.r1[0].checked!=true)&&(document.form2.r1[1].checked!=true) &&(document.form2.r1[2].checked!=true)&&(document.form2.r1[3].checked!=true)) { alert("You did not select a mathematical operator"); a=confirm("Click ok to continue. Click cancel to exit") if(a==false) { break; } } if(document.form2.text2.value=="") { alert("You did not enter a value in the second text box"); a=confirm("Click ok to continue. Why? http://customwovenlabels.com/ Hello, Currently, i am working on a website. I need that when the data comes from ajax in the div or span tag, it should take space by moving down the data already present there without overwriting it. But it doesnot happens. When i get data through ajax, then it overwirtes the previous data which was already present there and doesnot move the previous data downwards. Any help plz Hi All, Firstly, apologies if this is already posted somewhere on the site. I did do a search of the forum, but could only find solutions for things link Perl scripts etc. What I have is a file upload input (as part of a larger form) and I want to get some javascript that will replace spaces in a filename with another character, such as an underscore or dash. If possible, I would also like to be able to replace commas with an underscore or dash. Hope someone here can help or point me to the right place! Neil Hello, I am trying to create some javascript that will create a popup and the popup itself is just an image. But since I want the image to take up the entire window i create the html in a variable to hold the image. For some reason I always get white space on the right. I already have css built into the html variable to take out padding and margins and I even specify the size(sized exactly to the image) when doing window.open. I have not been able to solve this in a couple of days and have been trying alot of different solutions with no work. Any help is appreciated, here is the code: Code: function get_radio_value() { var wrong = "<html><head><style type='text/css'>body {margin: 0; padding:0; border:0;}</style>\ <title>Incorrect, try again!</title></head><body><bgsound src='Plbt.wav'>\ <a href='javascript:window.close()'><img src='wrong.jpg'></a></body></html>"; var right = "<html><head><style type='text/css'>body {margin: 0}</style>\ <title>You are Correct!</title></head><body>\ <a href='javascript:window.close()'><img src='right.jpg'></a></body></html>"; for (var i=0; i < document.question.mquestion.length; i++) { if (document.question.mquestion[i].checked) { var rad_val = document.question.mquestion[i].value; if (rad_val != "b") { var popup = window.open('','',"resizeable=no,scrollbars=no,location=no,menubar=no,toolbar=no,width=221,height=112"); popup.document.write(wrong); pops.document.close(); } else { var popup = window.open("","window","resizeable,scrollbars=no,width=221,height=112"); popup.document.write(right); pops.document.close(); } } } } </script> Right now when someone clicks on my listbox I immediately do an update on the form to populate the selected item. Is there a way to detect if a user has clicked on some white area of a list box? If my list is sized 8 items but the list only has 4 items, if the user clicks near the bottom of the list where there is no item to select, can I detect that? Currently I get the form updating even if I click on the white area of the list and I'd like the form to update only if I actually click on an item in the list. Thanks |
