JavaScript - Onmouseover Picture Switch Active With One Change But Not Two.
Hi, I'm trying to get the pic to change when the mouse rolls over the button. I used this template of code and it works:

you notice i am using cursor in css so when mouseover it becomes hand, what i wants is when it will become hand the text inside of it will also change the color, for now it change only if i mouseover to that text, thanks for any quick help please i am trying to use the most simple code i can to onmouseover of some text change 1 image. it will have multiple texts with different images for each one all displayed in one place. it seems to work well for me in IE, but on firefox the mouseover doesn't work. and on a mac it doesn't work in safari or firefox. any input is appreciated... here is the shortest version of the code i could put together. Hey, I currently have my menu on a web page set out using the following method: Code: <div class="linkbox" onmouseover="this.className='linkbox2'" onmouseout="this.className='linkbox'" onclick="location.href='http://www.upthegame.net/';"> General Chat </div> I was wondering if there was a way using javascript to set ALL <div>'s with the class name "linkbox" to change to the class name "linkbox2" onmouseover and return to "linkbox" onmouseout. I would like this to be in a seperate file, I'm guessing this would probably be within an onload function or something along those lines. I've managed to change the colour of the div but not add an image there. I've added my code so you can have a look. Case 0 shows me attempting to change the background image. I must be doing something wrong. I've left the other cases as colours so you can see how I did that. I eventually want it all to be images. Hi guys, I need some help. Im trying to make a navagation menu with images that need to be changed when someone hovers over the child category. I was hoping to do this with some javascript. The structu I use a div (class="post") as a container for the wordpress post, and within the "post" div, I have a span (class="title") which I use to display the title of the post. The Problem The code works, except when the user hovers over any "post" div, all "title" span change color. So my question is, how do I target the code to address ONLY the "title" span in the "post" div that is in hover state? Any help would be greatly appreciated, Cheers, Drew. just a general question really... now that I've finally started using switches, it seems to me that they're just a big if /else if statement, with an else thrown in at the end for the default. but that can't be right. I know that in javascript there are a million ways to achieve the same result, but why would they (whoever they are) go to the trouble of making two basic operations that do exactly the same thing? to me it seems that switches are better for lots of conditions and if else is a quick way to work with two or three, but apart from readability, are there any inherent advantages in choosing one approach over the other? all opinions appreciated, and I hope I don't start another argument. I want to be able to have the submenu showned if the mainmenu is clicked... So if, as in example below, the page home is selected, the submenu is activated untill trhe mouse is hoovering over the "Cars" link, and when the mouse goes off the Cars link again the home submenu is activated... Before I get to the question first a little History on what I am working with. I am a Software Engineer currently working under a contract in a highly customized environment. The IDE that I am using (Not by my choice as I am a Java developer by Trade) uses a "JavaScript Runtime Environment" to treat JavaScript as a complied language. Needless to say this is a little odd and it was created because my employer had trouble finding enough developers that know other languages (This also seems odd) but there always seemed to be a ton of JavaScript people around. Anyway now to the question. The code I am writing is product testing automation code that is going to save testing dollars eventually. Initially the testing was done by a team of testers whom would log into a website, run some tests by interacting with the website, and then get the results from the tests via the product that they are testing. My code will do all the interaction with the device and the website and then compile all the results in an Ms. Excell spreadsheet for viewing. The problem is that my employer doesn't own the website that the testing is done from and there has been some changes lately that I am trying to overcome. The problem is as follows. I have been using a Microsoft.XMLHTTP ActiveX Object to login to the website and do all the test manipulation and form submitting. The recent changes to the website have broken the automation code. Now the page has changed as follows. There is no longer a submit button instead there is a standard button calling a javascript onclick which is then used to submit the form. Regards, Hi, Please help....... i am working on a project which has left side menu (dhtml and javascript)sliding menu with submenus and,in the right side,i have placed an empty div where i will be calling html files externally by storing all the html files in a folder called "Htmlfiles". so say for eg: in the homepage.html, i have header,left menu,center white content area, and the footer and i will be calling all the html files into this homepage.html right side content area(into the div) using javascript function. So when i click Home in the leftside menu.. the home.html which is stored in htmlfiles folder opens inside the homepage.html center area inside the blank div. Now my problem is.. when i click the home button text.. i have given the css as a:active{ color: #ff3000; } .. so when i click the home button text, the font color changes to red but when i click outside the menu or ie nearer to the menu or any other place inside the page.. the active color vanishes.. so that i am not able to guess in what page i am now. So please guide me.. so that wherever i click on the page..the active color should stay on page unless i click the next button link. And moreover, as i am loading the html files externally, when i click on that content which is loading in the right side div .. also, the active color vanishes and the original color comes for the font. So please help me... how do i do this...... Alright I know about the problems IE has, but I'm testing out an id that is titled "slideRecord1" and trying to move it. The functions work with Firefox for the onmouseover and onmouseout attributes. But IE doesn't support that. So I'm trying to do it manually in the Javascript, but it's still not reading it. Any help?
