Here is the structure I am working with as this html/script was created by the chmProcessor to produce WebHelp files... index.htm contains: Code: <iframe id="mainFrame" name="mainFrame" class="full" src= "frameset.html"> frameset.html contains: Code: <frameset cols="20%,80%"> <frame id="treeFrame" src="tree.html" name="treeFrame" /> <frame id="frameCont" src="2_Welcome.htm" name="Welcome" /> </frameset> tree.html is the navigational panel and contains: Code: <script type="text/javascript" src="tree.js"> </script> I have placed alert() calls in tree.js. When I load index.htm in Chrome, apparently tree.js is not being loaded because I do not see any alert box and the functionality within tree.js does not work. Note: The functionality does work in IE and Firefox If I open tree.html directly in Chrome, the tree.js functionality does get called. I do not know how to solve this problem or why Chrome is not loading the pages and script correctly. Thanks for your help! Hi, I have a programing problem that have been around for ages. I have search on google using several expressions and words and after hours of digging i'm still unable to do it. I would like to get a value from a HTML page hosted remotely with an inconstant value. Then define this value and name as a javascript variable and apply or show in my page. Thanks for all the help P.S. Is there any way to make a domain lookup in javascript? I mean a user enters a domain and the script converts to an ip and shows to the user. If not thanks, probably it can only be done in the server side... Hard to explain so: On my site, on the 'edit profile' page, I have this code to give a field value (because the back end code is hidden as it's a purchased script): Code: <table> <tr> <td> <span class="title"> Facebook URL: </span> <br/> <span class="details"> Enter the full URL </span> </td> <td align="left">$ControlPanelMyProfileUser-profile_facebook$</td> </tr> </table> <script type='text/javascript'> if($('profile_facebook').value == "") { $('profile_facebook').value = "http://"; } </script> Then, on the users profile page I have this code to hide a row if no info or just http:// is entered: Code: <ul> <li id="facebook1"><a href="$RateViewProfileUser-profile_facebook$">Facebook Profile</a></li> </ul> if(document.getElementById('facebook1').innerHTML=='<a href="">Facebook Profile</a>') { document.getElementById('facebook1').style.display='none'; } else if(document.getElementById('facebook1').innerHTML=='<a href="http://">Facebook Profile</a>') { document.getElementById('facebook1').style.display='none'; } In IE, on the users profile page, the source is showing: Code: <a href="http://">Facebook Profile</a> But, the li item with ID of facebook1 isn't hiding and when hovering over the link it shows "http:///" which may be why it's not working? Even though the source shows "http://"?? Any ideas why it isn't hiding? So far what I have the animation just..repeats over and over again, it doesn't go forward and backward as a seem-less bouncing little pin. Rattling my brain here, any help? I uploaded it to my server he http://www.boomspeed.com/alenna06/BouncingPushPin.html Also zip file attached Code: <!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD XHTML 1.0 Strict//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/xhtml1/DTD/xhtml1-strict.dtd"> <html xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml"> <head> <title>Pin bouncing</title> <meta http-equiv="content-type" content="text/html;charset=iso-8859-1" /> <script type="text/javascript"> /* <![CDATA[ */ var pins = new Array(9); var curPins= 0; var direction; var begin; for (var i = 0; i < 9; ++i){ pins[i]=new Image(); pins[i].src="pin" + i + ".gif"; if (i == 8) begin = setInterval("bounce()", 90); function bounce() { if (curPins == 8){ curPins = 0; } else ++ curPins; document.getElementsByTagName("img")[0].src = pins[curPins].src; if(curPins == 0){ direction = "up"; } else if (curPins == 8) direction ="down"; document.getElementsByTagName("img")[0].src= pins[curPins].src; } } /* ]]> */ </script> </head> <body> <img src="pin0.gif" alt="Image of push pin bouncing" /> </body> </html> Hi Everyone, I have the following problem that I have been trying to figure out for a few hours now and am hoping someone can give me a help out. I am opening a popup - this popup is solely to take an image url and as such has one field. On this 1st popup I have a 'button' which when clicked launches a 2nd popup window containing a file browser. The user selects the file by double clicking on the image they want, the url is passed back to the 1st popup, poulating the field and the 2nd popup is closed. Work perfectly in FF etc.. but in IE7 and IE8 it will not work. I am using the following function, linked to the button in the 1st popup, to open the 2nd popup window pass across the name of the field and the window object to the 2nd window. Code: function popupTwoInit(file_path, field_name, win) { var w = window.open(file_path, null, 'toolbar=yes,menubar=yes,width=900,height=600'); w.fileFileField = field_name; w.fileFileWin = win; } Where w is holding the window object created by the window.open, field_name is the name of the field on the popup that I wish to pass back a value to and win is the window object of the 1st popup. I am using this function as the callback to poulate the field in the 1st dialog after an image in the 2nd dialog has been selected: Code: filebrowser_callback(url) { window.fileFileWin.document.forms[0].elements[window.fileFileField].value = url; window.fileFileWin.focus(); window.close(); } So this function accesses the passed through window object and field name from the window.open function, populates the field, gives the 1st popup focus and closes the 2nd popup. I thought about using opener in the 2nd popup to access the window object and field in the 1st popup but opener seems to refer to the main page in the browser - perhaps because I am using 2 popups OR I have got that wrong. Like I say works perfectly in FF but IE is always undefined for both 'window.fileFileWin' & 'window.fileFileField' which seems to suggest that the object is not interpreted by IE in the first function? I am a PHP developer with limited Javascript knowledge so any help would be great. Thanks very much. Hello. I am very new at using javascript and jquery. Right now Im working on a website, and it has a hierarchical menu in the right and im also doing some content loading in a div, all that with javascript. My problem is that when they click on a link, I need to pass a variable "id" through the link. I dont want to pass it in the url, but I want to pass it in another way, for every link the id is going to be different. How can I pass a variable to another page and how can I retrieve it in that page so I can use it for the content loading? Thanks! How do i set a page element as a variable and change it? Ive googled the internet like crazy for an answer for this, but couldnt find it. Im trying to create an animation. My question is, how do i change the width of a div onclick? Essentially, I want it to add one percent of the value of the width of the div every one second.. PHP Code: <head> <meta http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html; charset=utf-8" /> <title>Loading Bar</title> <script> var x = getElementById("loadbar").style.width; function load(){ setTimeout ( "progress()", 1000 ); } function progress(){ x++; } </script> </head> <body> <div id="load" style="border:thin solid #6699FF; width:300px; height:10px"> <div id="loadbar" style="background:#6699CC; width:0%; height:100%"> </div> </div> <a href="#" onclick="load()">Click to load</a> </body> I apologize if I am posting this in the wrong section. I am looking for a code or script for a certain type of game but I can't even figure out what this type of game would be called. The game I am talking about is called "cryptopix" at tanga.com. I would really like to implement something like that on my website that members could create and participate in. If anyone can help point me in the right direction I would be forever grateful. I would assume it's a java script.
Hi I want to build a site that has these two javascript effects. I know HTML, but dont know javscript too well, I know some to be able to change some aspects. I have found some code online that allws me to change the background image with each click of the links. the effect I now want to create is the effect that as you clikc on teh link and the new text appears, the old one drops down andthe new one pops up from the bottom into place. and you have a choice of either a big block ont eh right or a small strip on the bottom depending ont he page. what is this effect called. and does any one know where i might be able to get soem code for it from so i can insert it into my page I hope all this makes sense the site is http://www.peponi-lamu.com many thanks Im looking at how or what this effect is called i am not even sure if it is javascript i assume it is from looking at the code. But i cant seem to convert it to what i want. So if someone could point me to a more simple version of this code or what the technique is called that would be great. Here is the page. http://www.pizzacapers.com.au/the-me...nature-pizzas/ What i am talking about: You click the pizza and it comes up inside of the border picture on the left side of the page. Thanks Is there a particular term for writing functions in this manner? I'm interested in doing some reading up on it but don't quite know what to search for. Code: (function(msg){ document.write(msg); })("What's that smell?"); Quote: http://codecanyon.net/item/html-befo...preview/153778 http://codecanyon.net/item/beforeaft...preview/529151 http://www.catchmyfame.com/2009/06/2...eafter-plugin/ I need this effect, I will explain below The first, we have if we slide on the left. when we slide on the right if we slide to END the result will be: OR It's use jquery plugin, I want to find the same things with only javascript, not use jquery. Because, I'm use it on ipod, iphone, android. It's not allow jquery. I'm really need it. please, help me. Thanks for your time ok ive searched everywhere online for a webform that is in 2 or more parts... example: (not asking for contact info yet) page 1: name age gender "start request button" (continued application) page 2: email address phone number best time to contact, etc... "submit button" saves info for next page to submit all info from both pages of application to a server etc. I know its possible, i just need to be put on the path... any help is much appreciated! Anyone know of a better CLI base than the one I'm using? It's based off of http://sacrifizezone.blogspot.com/ ------------------------------ So, the way the CLI works is whenever it sees the input which has the matching ID of a DIV, it displays it. Example @ http://ijappy.webs.com/green You can download an early version of the soarce w/ the command "dl src"... It works great, for now, but as I add more & more commands I'm sure the INDEX file will surely begin to... be populated.. So I was wondering if anyone knew a way (using Javascript/Ajax/PHP I really don't care) to "PRINT" a files contents instead of showing a div. So when I typed in 'help' it looked up help.html and printed it's content... Is there such thing? Is this a bad concept? Please, help haha ;D Hi guys, calling a php page through AJAX. and it works Aok. I wanted the ajax backend php file to call a function in the front end page. even a simple alert from the backend php file wont work. Any help is greatly appreciated. My code to call the alert and parent's javascript functions are below. Simple alert Code: echo "<script language='javascript'>alert('Please Help Me');</script>"; Calling Front End Page Function Code: echo "<script language='javascript'>frontend_function();</script>"; Cheers Elabuwa I have a page with multiple drop down menus for selecting a State then City, then Zip. The State and City both work fine but I can't seem to make the Zip function properly. Page with drop downs: Code: var xmlhttp; function showCity(state) { xmlhttp=GetXmlHttpObject(); if (xmlhttp==null) { alert ("Browser does not support HTTP Request"); return; } var url="get_cities.php"; url=url+"?q="+state; url=url+"&sid="+Math.random(); xmlhttp.onreadystatechange=stateChanged; xmlhttp.open("GET",url, true); xmlhttp.send(null); } var s=state; function stateChanged() { if (xmlhttp.readyState==4) { document.getElementById("txtHint").innerHTML=xmlhttp.responseText; } } function GetXmlHttpObject() { if (window.XMLHttpRequest) { // code for IE7+, Firefox, Chrome, Opera, Safari return new XMLHttpRequest(); } if (window.ActiveXObject) { // code for IE6, IE5 return new ActiveXObject("Microsoft.XMLHTTP"); } return null; } var xmlhttp; function showZip(city) { xmlhttp=GetXmlHttpObject(); if (xmlhttp==null) { alert ("Browser does not support HTTP Request"); return; } var url="get_zips.php"; url=url+"?z="+city; url=url+"&q="+s; url=url+"&sid="+Math.random(); xmlhttp.onreadystatechange=stateChanged1; xmlhttp.open("GET",url, true); xmlhttp.send(null); } function stateChanged1() { if (xmlhttp.readyState==4) { document.getElementById("txtZip").innerHTML=xmlhttp.responseText; } } function GetXmlHttpObject() { if (window.XMLHttpRequest) { // code for IE7+, Firefox, Chrome, Opera, Safari return new XMLHttpRequest(); } if (window.ActiveXObject) { // code for IE6, IE5 return new ActiveXObject("Microsoft.XMLHTTP"); } return null; } <!--********** state drop down *********--> <? $State = mysql_query("SELECT DISTINCT full_state FROM zip_codes ORDER by full_state",$db_link); ?> <select name="state" CLASS="formTextbox" size="1" onChange="showCity(this.value)"> <? while($get = mysql_fetch_array($State)) { ?> <option value="<?=$get['full_state'];?>"><?=$get['full_state'];?></option><? } ?> </select> get_cities.php: Code: <?php $q=$_GET["q"]; include('include/db_con.php'); ?> <? $City = mysql_query("SELECT DISTINCT city FROM zip_codes WHERE full_state = '$q' ORDER BY city",$db_link); ?> <select name="city" CLASS="formTextbox" size="1" onChange="showZip(this.value)"> <? while($get = mysql_fetch_array($City)) { ?> <option value="<?=$get['city'];?>"><?=$get['city'];?></option><? } ?> </select> get_zips.php: Code: <?php $z=$_GET["z"]; $q=$_GET["q"]; include('include/db_con.php'); ?> <? $Zip = mysql_query("SELECT DISTINCT zip FROM zip_codes WHERE city = '$z' AND full_state = '$q' ORDER by zip",$db_link); ?> <select name="zip" CLASS="formTextbox" size="1"> <? while($get = mysql_fetch_array($Zip)) { ?> <option value="<?=$get['zip'];?>"><?=$get['zip'];?></option><? } ?> </select> I have my page set to only show the drop down's when there is a value to select. The Zip drop down shows up at the correct time but is empty. I've tried searching the forum but since I'm still learning js I wasn't able to make use of any on the other multiple drop down examples I came accross. Thanks for any advice you can offer. Ok, so basically what I've got is a button which when clicked, "opens" a section of the page. I also need the button to "jump" to this section of the page, because it's below the current content and won't be visible. What I've got so far is ... Javascript <script language="javascript"> function toggle() { var ele = document.getElementById("toggleText"); var text = document.getElementById("displayText"); if(ele.style.display == "block") { ele.style.display = "none"; text.innerHTML = "show"; } else { ele.style.display = "block"; text.innerHTML = "hide"; location="#ordernow" } } function moveWindow(){window.location.hash="ordernow"} </script> HTML ... (The rest of the form is up here) <input name="Button" type="button" class="button" value="Order Now" onclick="toggle();moveWindow()" id="displayText"/> ... (This is the start of the section that becomes visible, along with the anchor point which is highlighted in red.) <div id="toggleText" style="display: none"> <a name="ordernow"></a> <fieldset> <legend>Order Confirmation</legend> <div class="standardinput"> <label>Company:</label> <input name="Company" type="text" class="textinput" id="Company" /> </div> If I put two separate buttons, both functions will work. Basically I need them to be on the same function, not sure how to do that? Thanks so much in advance =) |
