JavaScript - Optimizing My Flash Website With Swfobject/adobeair
Hi there - im new to website making . i have made my own site in adobe flash cs 4 /photoshop and now im trying to optimize with swo (swiftobject) using adobeair. I must say that im following Lydia.com tuts on video. Anyway when i try to generate and embed using adobe air, the guy on the video that im following he is setting the dimensions to 100 %. My web site is 850x600 pix centeret on the screen with grey background before i started the swo thing. I also choose to set the dimensions to 100% because he says so and when i do that and preview in the browser the site gets really , really big - what am i doing wrong? thanks in advance. jeppe

The xml has some settings for the images and all my images are in the upload folder in my project. I have reference to the swfobject js in the masterpage (head) and the homepage inherits from it: Code: <script src="javascript/swfobject.js" type="text/javascript"></script>. the issue is that the new way is totally differnent - no longer do you have the javascript and embed on the same page, the javascript goes in the header and the view code goes in the file now. so how do i add this to the new way of coding. Code:

i think i can add it is a param flashvar but im not sure how on this code Just fyi i upload my vids using FFMPEG so in the dir there is a flv and associated jpg for the view for each vid. in other words there is a 1.flv and a 1.jpg i just need to figure out how to display the jpg for each vid in the code above. Each of the methods 1-3 is the amount that that specific method can trim from the string. I'd like to be able to trim as little as possible. For example, if the string needs 5 characters to be trimmed, and method1 can trim 8 characters, but method3 can trim 6, then method3 should be used. If none of the methods can individually trim the string enough, then I'd like the optimal combination of the methods that will get the job done. I can't figure out what sort of code structure I need for this (besides a ton of if/else statements). Maybe an array that contains each of the methods, arranged in increasing order....? Help would be appreciated! so what do i do to show multiples on a page. Hey guys I should preface this by saying that this is not for my own site, or my own code; a friend has gone on holiday and needed this project fixing while he was away. Unfortunately my experience with jQuery is almost nil and everything was coded by someone else, so I'm really tearing my hair out. This is a Wordpress installation running Thematic with two child themes, one of which uses Ajax calls to grab page content. The issue is that the Ajaxified calls stop the swfObject content from being loaded. It seems as though the jQuery calls are pre-empting the JS/Flash detection, so the swfObject code is never even written to the page. The actual custom, handwritten code (i.e. not from a library or a plugin) on this site is minimal, so I'm grasping at straws to fix this. From what I can tell its just placing the words flashVars and params where the values should be. I have tried the few things I know but I am not too handy with javascript. Any ideas? Thanks for your help Hi, Im using a authoring tool to develop an elearning test course. The course is composed of several HTML pages with Buttons for the multiple choice test. The setup of the course is that it will only ask 10 questions out of a pool of 30 questions. When the HTML & JS files are online, the test takes 20-40seconds to load. I believe it is related to the code that selects the 10 questions from the 30. I've singled out the code that does the select random pages... Is there any way to optimize the code? Another Update. I am back to the original question. null is null or not an object.. in my search i have found this found a solution. basically Internet Explorer is crappy and doesnt like the setAttribute property so had to change the onchange handler by directly changing the attrbute for the object like so. object.onchange = function() {} i have no idea what they means, does that mean i need to change swfobject.js or does that mean i have to change my xml request. and if it is the swfobject i have no clue what they mean or what lines ok i need a bit of advice.. Hi there, I'm working on a presentation and I'm going to store each page into a ".html" So in example, I have... "1.html" "2.html" "3.html" Each number goes to each slide accordingly. The way I was working the presentation out was having users load a webpage via mobile phone which contains an iframe. I'll change the src of the iframe to the desired slide; and the META refresh will handle displaying it to the user. Now, here's the problem. It flashes on some browsers, like Blackberries. I'd like for the content being refreshed to not flash, but appear naturally. That way, the user doesn't have to attempt to read flashing text (which gets -REALLY annoying) ------------------------------------ TLDR; I need some code to refresh a page/div without flashing the content on ALL if not MOST browsers.
