JavaScript - Optimizing My Flash Website With Swfobject/adobeair
Hi there - im new to website making . i have made my own site in adobe flash cs 4 /photoshop and now im trying to optimize with swo (swiftobject) using adobeair. I must say that im following Lydia.com tuts on video. Anyway when i try to generate and embed using adobe air, the guy on the video that im following he is setting the dimensions to 100 %. My web site is 850x600 pix centeret on the screen with grey background before i started the swo thing. I also choose to set the dimensions to 100% because he says so and when i do that and preview in the browser the site gets really , really big - what am i doing wrong? thanks in advance. jeppe
Similar TutorialsI have created a transparent flash video (virtual spokesperson) for my website. For demoing purposes, I would like to have this appear on any desired website. This is what I am trying to produce - here a virtual spokesperson appears on the codingforums.com website: http://www.innovateads.com/iads/demo...dingforums.com Have a look at other sites which enable one to type in a URL and their demo virtual spokesperson appears on the given site: http://www.vspworldwide.com, http://www.impactspokesperson.com, http://www.websitetalkingheads.com and http://www.laserstreamvideo.com. I believe they do this within an iframe to display the underlying website. Any ideas how to get this working ? I would really appreciate any feedback, code, how-tos, links... whatever. I am a complete javascript newbie. Thanks I'm going to guess that its something simple i'm missing.. or maybe IE just really doesnt like flash movies with transparent bg's? Code appears to work fine on chrome, ffox, and IE9- but im having trouble with older browsers. Any ideas would be extremely welcome. Using basic swfobject implementation- nothing special, but i keep getting 'movie not loaded' error when i right click where the movie is supposed to be: <div id="welcome"> <object classid="clsid:d27cdb6e-ae6d-11cf-96b8-444553540000" data="advanced/welcomeanim.swf" width="500" height="130" id="welcomeanim" > <param name="movie" value="welcomeanim.swf" /> <param name="quality" value="high" /> <param name="bgcolor" value="transparent" /> <param name="play" value="true" /> <param name="loop" value="true" /> <param name="wmode" value="transparent" /> <param name="scale" value="showall" /> <param name="menu" value="true" /> <param name="devicefont" value="false" /> <param name="salign" value="" /> <param name="allowScriptAccess" value="sameDomain" /> <!--[if !IE]>--> <object type="application/x-shockwave-flash" data="advanced/welcomeanim.swf" width="500" height="130"> <param name="movie" value="welcomeanim.swf" /> <param name="quality" value="high" /> <param name="bgcolor" value="transparent" /> <param name="play" value="true" /> <param name="loop" value="true" /> <param name="wmode" value="transparent" /> <param name="scale" value="showall" /> <param name="menu" value="true" /> <param name="devicefont" value="false" /> <param name="salign" value="" /> <param name="allowScriptAccess" value="sameDomain" /> <!--<![endif]--> <div><img src="img/welcome.png" width="550" height="130" /></div> <!--[if !IE]>--> </object> <!--<![endif]--> </object> </div> I'm getting Error: Object doesn't support property or method 'addEvent' in my webpage. I'm trying to embed a flash carousel in an asp.net page and I have this, but nothing is showing on my page. Using IE9 and FF4 Code: <script type="text/javascript"> window.addEvent('load', function() { var flashvars = { xmlLocation: "<%=ResolveUrl("upload/data.xml")%>", imageLocation: "<%=ResolveUrl("~/upload/")%>" }; swfobject.embedSWF("<%=ResolveUrl("~/upload/Carousel-Test.swf")%>", "FlashContainer", "576", "242", "10.0.32", "", flashvars, null, null); }); </script> The xml has some settings for the images and all my images are in the upload folder in my project. I have reference to the swfobject js in the masterpage (head) and the homepage inherits from it: Code: <script src="javascript/swfobject.js" type="text/javascript"></script>. Anyone give some suggestions? hi, i upgraded my SWF object about 3 months ago and have been trying to find a way to add the preview back in there, but dont know how with the new process since what i had originally was ancient. the old code was like this Code: <script type='text/javascript'> var s1 = new SWFObject('player.swf','player','400','300','9'); s1.addParam('allowfullscreen','true'); s1.addParam('allowscriptaccess','always'); s1.addParam('flashvars','file=$ROOT/movies/$sql_array->vid_id.flv'); s1.write('preview'); </script> the issue is that the new way is totally differnent - no longer do you have the javascript and embed on the same page, the javascript goes in the header and the view code goes in the file now. so how do i add this to the new way of coding. Code: s1.write('preview'); here is the new way of doing it and this is in the php header Code: <script type="text/javascript" src="swfobject.js"></script> <script type="text/javascript"> swfobject.registerObject("player", "9.0.0"); </script> and then this is in the the files you want to display the video on Code: <object classid="clsid: my class id went here" width="175" height="175" id="player" name="player" align="middle"> <param name="movie" value="player.swf" /> <param name="play" value="false" /> <param name="quality" value="high" /> <param name="allowfullscreen" value="true" /> <param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always" /> <param name="flashvars" value="file=<?=$ROOT?>/movies/<?=$sql_array->vid_id?>.flv" /> <!--[if !IE]>--> <object type="application/x-shockwave-flash" data="player.swf" width="175" height="175" align="middle"> <param name="play" value="false" /> <param name="quality" value="high" /> <param name="allowfullscreen" value="true" /> <param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always" /> <param name="flashvars" value="file=<?=$ROOT?>/movies/<?=$sql_array->vid_id?>.flv" /> <!--<![endif]--> <a href="http://www.adobe.com/go/getflashplayer"> <img src="http://www.adobe.com/images/shared/download_buttons/get_flash_player.gif" alt="Get Adobe Flash player" /> </a> <!--[if !IE]>--> </object> <!--<![endif]--> </object> i think i can add it is a param flashvar but im not sure how on this code Just fyi i upload my vids using FFMPEG so in the dir there is a flv and associated jpg for the view for each vid. in other words there is a 1.flv and a 1.jpg i just need to figure out how to display the jpg for each vid in the code above. I've written a function that "condenses" a string if it is too long. Code: function shortenMsg(msg, maxLen){ if (msg.length > maxLen){ var over = msg.length - maxLen, // amount that needs to be trimmed method1 = (msg.match(/,\s/g) || []).length, // amount that method1 can trim method2 = (msg.match(/\]\s\[/g) || []).length; // etc... method3 = (msg.match(/demonstration/gi) || []).length * 6, // etc... if (method1 >= over){ msg = msg.replace(/,\s/g, ","); } else if (method2 >= over){ msg = msg.replace(/\]\s\[/g, "]["); } else if (method3 >= over){ msg = msg.replace(/nstration/gi, ""); } else { // optimal combination of 2+ methods } } return msg; } var longMsg = "...", shortMsg = shortenMsg(longMsg, 50); // example usage Each of the methods 1-3 is the amount that that specific method can trim from the string. I'd like to be able to trim as little as possible. For example, if the string needs 5 characters to be trimmed, and method1 can trim 8 characters, but method3 can trim 6, then method3 should be used. If none of the methods can individually trim the string enough, then I'd like the optimal combination of the methods that will get the job done. I can't figure out what sort of code structure I need for this (besides a ton of if/else statements). Maybe an array that contains each of the methods, arranged in increasing order....? Help would be appreciated! Sorry for posting so much recently Hi i just switched over from 1.5 to 2.2 swfobject. in my admin area only the first video is showing on the page, but on the user side they all show up just fine, same code.. strange. but anyway i was reading this.. http://groups.google.com/group/swfob...1e29c96933dfa0 and it confused me alittle because i have no idea how many vids are going to be display, i have them displaying from a loop. i guess what the article is saying is that you have to call javascript for every one your going to display and use a dif label name for it. but as i said i have no clue, am i suppose to list that 100 times on the page in case i have 100 videos... javascript is really not my cup of tea lol... here is my code.. in the head i have this ... Code: <!-- added for swfobject 2.2 --> <script type="text/javascript" src="swfobject.js"></script> <script type="text/javascript"> swfobject.registerObject("player", "9.0.0"); </script and then in the body i have this.. and like i said there might be 100 vids but it only shows the first one. Code: begin the loop then do this <div style="float:left;"> <table border="0" align="left"><tr> <td align="center"><td align="center"><?=$sql_array->vid_name?><br /> <object classid="clsid:D27CDB6E-AE6D-11cf-96B8-444553540000" width="175" height="175" id="player" name="player" align="middle"> <param name="movie" value="player.swf" /> <param name="play" value="false" /> <param name="quality" value="high" /> <param name="allowfullscreen" value="true" /> <param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always" /> <param name="flashvars" value="file=<?=$CONST_LINK_ROOT?>/movies/<?=$sql_array->vid_id?>.flv" /> <!--[if !IE]>--> <object type="application/x-shockwave-flash" data="player.swf" width="175" height="175" align="middle"> <param name="play" value="false" /> <param name="quality" value="high" /> <param name="allowfullscreen" value="true" /> <param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always" /> <param name="flashvars" value="file=<?=$CONST_LINK_ROOT?>/movies/<?=$sql_array->vid_id?>.flv" /> <!--<![endif]--> <a href="http://www.adobe.com/go/getflashplayer"> <img src="http://www.adobe.com/images/shared/download_buttons/get_flash_player.gif" alt="Get Adobe Flash player" /> </a> <!--[if !IE]>--> </object> <!--<![endif]--> </object> </td></tr></table> </div> loop again till done... so what do i do to show multiples on a page. Hey guys I should preface this by saying that this is not for my own site, or my own code; a friend has gone on holiday and needed this project fixing while he was away. Unfortunately my experience with jQuery is almost nil and everything was coded by someone else, so I'm really tearing my hair out. This is a Wordpress installation running Thematic with two child themes, one of which uses Ajax calls to grab page content. The issue is that the Ajaxified calls stop the swfObject content from being loaded. Compa http://dev.segolondon.com/wp292/media/ <- Flash content loads versus: http://dev.segolondon.com/wp292/#wp292/media/ If you take a look at the code of the two pages, you'll see there are no swfobject.embedSWF() calls on the Ajaxified page. It seems as though the jQuery calls are pre-empting the JS/Flash detection, so the swfObject code is never even written to the page. The actual custom, handwritten code (i.e. not from a library or a plugin) on this site is minimal, so I'm grasping at straws to fix this. I read somewhere about using a script block like this: Code: <script> $(document).ready( function() { // Make the swfObject call } ); </script> But I'm not really sure where to put it since there are so many plugins used, all with slightly different embed methods. Any help would be very gratefully received! Hello I am trying and failing to embed a flash widget onto my website. I think I have the problem narrowed down to this. The javascript I have is not placing all the needed parameters in the swfobject call. Here is the relevant code. Code: $flashVars = array(); $flashVars["uid"] = $partnerUserID; $flashVars["partnerId"] = KALTURA_PARTNER_ID; $flashVars["ks"] = $ks; $flashVars["afterAddEntry"] = "onContributionWizardAfterAddEntry"; $flashVars["close"] = "onContributionWizardClose"; $flashVars["showCloseButton"] = false; $flashVars["Permissions"] = 1;?> <div id="kcw"></div> <script type="text/javascript"> var params = { * * * * allowScriptAccess: "always", * * * * allowNetworking: "all", * * * * wmode: "opaque" }; // php to js var flashVars = <?php echo json_encode($flashVars); ?>; *<//!--embed flash object--> swfobject.embedSWF("http://www.kaltura.com/kcw/ui_conf_id/1000741 ", "kcw", "680", "360", "9.0.0", "expressInstall.swf", flashVars, params); </script> And here is what the page is outputing Code: <script type="text/javascript"> var params = { allowScriptAccess: "always", allowNetworking: "all", wmode: "opaque" }; // php to js var flashVars = {"uid":"ANONYMOUS","partnerId":"254892","ks":"ZDNiOTA3NGEyNDc5MzdhZTk0YWQ2NDJmYzUyZDE3ZjkwYTM3YTU3NXwyNTQ4OTI7MjU0ODkyOzEyNzM1MjI5NjU7MjsxMjczNDM2NTY1LjA0ODg7QU5PTllNT1VTOw==","afterAddEntry":"onContributionWizardAfterAddEntry","close":"onContributionWizardClose","showCloseButton":false,"Permissions":1}; <//!--embed flash object--> swfobject.embedSWF("http://www.kaltura.com/kcw/ui_conf_id/1000741 ", "kcw", "680", "360", "9.0.0", "expressInstall.swf", flashVars, params); </script> From what I can tell its just placing the words flashVars and params where the values should be. I have tried the few things I know but I am not too handy with javascript. Any ideas? Thanks for your help Hi, Im using a authoring tool to develop an elearning test course. The course is composed of several HTML pages with Buttons for the multiple choice test. The setup of the course is that it will only ask 10 questions out of a pool of 30 questions. When the HTML & JS files are online, the test takes 20-40seconds to load. I believe it is related to the code that selects the 10 questions from the 30. I've singled out the code that does the select random pages... Is there any way to optimize the code? I've attached the HTML (in txt format) page where the javascript can be found. Looking forward to your replies! hi guys, i was wondering if anyone could help me. Ive been looking into the above and want to implement it on my site. I have created no flash pages and flash pages, but instead of creating a portal at the front of the site that leads you to a flash site and a no flash site id like to do it so the page detects flash or not, and redirects to whichever URL. Is this possible, or do multiple browsers cause problems ? cheers Hi i have done some reading on the net today because i am getting an error on ie. I did find the javascript twice in my code, once in the header and once here, so i removed it from the header. I also changed to src to the full url. But i am still getting this and i dont know why. the file is located in the root directory. I am back to the original question. null is null or not an object.. in my search i have found this found a solution. basically Internet Explorer is crappy and doesnt like the setAttribute property so had to change the onchange handler by directly changing the attrbute for the object like so. object.onchange = function() {} i have no idea what they means, does that mean i need to change swfobject.js or does that mean i have to change my xml request. and if it is the swfobject i have no clue what they mean or what lines ok i need a bit of advice.. I have a webpage and i want to put a section of another website on to my own website.. The Section i want to put on my website is on this page www.bebo.com/thegaadiscos and i only want to put the section with the comments on it... Hi there, A client of mine has asked me to change a flash component on his website to something that will work on the ipad/iphone etc. So my guess is that a javascript created slideshow would do the trick. Check out what I am meaning on this page: http://www.it-world.com.au/ It's the flash with "Our Services" "Our Products" "Contact" in it. Can anyone suggest a very easy javascript that I could manipulate to give this same scrolling effect on the click of a link. It needs to be very easy to make changes to as I have no js skills whatsoever other than copying, pasting and making minor changes to obvious pieces of script. hope someone can help! Hi there, I'm working on a presentation and I'm going to store each page into a ".html" So in example, I have... "1.html" "2.html" "3.html" Each number goes to each slide accordingly. The way I was working the presentation out was having users load a webpage via mobile phone which contains an iframe. I'll change the src of the iframe to the desired slide; and the META refresh will handle displaying it to the user. Now, here's the problem. It flashes on some browsers, like Blackberries. I'd like for the content being refreshed to not flash, but appear naturally. That way, the user doesn't have to attempt to read flashing text (which gets -REALLY annoying) ------------------------------------ TLDR; I need some code to refresh a page/div without flashing the content on ALL if not MOST browsers. Thanks. ------------------------------------ I think I know how I'd solve this issue; but I'm not too sure how to "integrate it" Perhaps, have a Javascript code keep the current "look" of the page static until "X" seconds. So, this would happen. Page refresh -> Javascript holds page for 5 seconds -> Page finishes loading -> Original page revealed It'd act kind of like a cover-up. Hi Guys & Girls, I am looking for help with a technical issue, which my programmer can't find the answer to. My website has a demonstration facility which allows a client to enter their website which then in turn creates a video transparency overlaying their own website. The problem is some sites with Flash, overlay my transparency video so that you cant see my demo video. Any ideas please. Thanks Maximillion Hi all.. I have a modal window I'm working on, but the flash below it comes over the top of the modal window. I'm assuming it's a z-index issue. I'm using Tinybox2 for the modal window, and it's CSS styles use 800 and 900 for z-index. Code: .tbox {position:absolute; display:none; padding:14px 17px; z-index:900} .tinner {padding:15px; -moz-border-radius:5px; border-radius:5px; background:#fff url(images/preload.gif) no-repeat 50% 50%; border-right:1px solid #333; border-bottom:1px solid #333} .tmask {position:absolute; display:none; top:0px; left:0px; height:100%; width:100%; background:#000; z-index:800} .tclose {position:absolute; top:0px; right:0px; width:30px; height:30px; cursor:pointer; background:url(images/close.png) no-repeat} .tclose:hover {background-position:0 -30px} The flash itself isn't in a div but in a table. Is there a way to give it a lower z-index? Thanks in advance! carrie I have this code http://www.jsfiddle.net/Nntc7/ created by a pdf publisher, I need to offer non flash content to users but dont know javascript and I cant get the thing to work using swfobject, How do I edit this to allow for alternative content?? thanks in advance http://www.silverbackmusic.net/home Please skip the intro. I'm talking about the navigation of this site. The way there is one huge background and clicking on each page moves the background to a certain part. Is there a way I can pull this off using some form of javascript? |
