JavaScript - Dynamically Create Form Element
Can someone see what is wrong with this code:
Code: frm=document.createElement('form') frm.action="/cgi-sys/formmail.pl" frm.method="POST" fld=document.createElement('textarea') fld.appendChild(document.createTextNode(simpleCart.items)) frm.appendChild(fld) It is supposed to dynamically create a textarea and fill it up with the return of simpleCart.items() Similar TutorialsHello everyone! I have a select (combo box) element that gets filled with items when selected item changed in another one (master combo box). It works in Chrome, FireFox but not in IE (all latest browser versions). How do I populate the items in the child combo box: - ajax call of a PHP script - that returns items for the combo box: echo '<option value="' . $id . '">' . $name . '</option>'; - setting innerHTML attribute of the child combo box to a value that gets returned by the ajax call: document.forms['parametersForm'].elements['stationId'].innerHTML = html; Do I need to return JSON object (or XML) by the PHP script and programically add items (in JavaScript) in the ajax callback or is there an alternative? Obviously building DOM with echoing PHP result doesn't work well in IE. Thanks for your future help! Regards Hello friends, I want to trigger click event on an iframe's element through the main window, Doing it both ways, with or without jquery, will be usable for me. Basically, what I want to do is, I have developed a website http://www.ipjugaad.com, and on every document download page, I have placed an fb like button, what I want to do is that the like button should be automatically clicked when a user click on download button on my website. Give me some idea about how to do it? How do I dynamically create a <select> with <options> in Javascript?
Hi, I have the following function to dynamically create an image (in this case a toolbox button): Code: function createButton(srcid, bttn) { if (bttn=='mag') {s='Magnify';h='Magnify';o='DoZoom(event,\'0\',\''+srcid+'\')';} if (bttn=='frz') {s='Pause';h='Freeze/Unfreeze';o='setPicture(\''+srcid+'\',0)';} if (bttn=='swp') {s='Swap';h='Swap maps';o='setPicture(\''+srcid+'\',2)';} btn=document.createElement('img'); btn.setAttribute('src','toolbox/'+s+'.gif'); btn.setAttribute('width','16px'); btn.setAttribute('height','16px'); btn.setAttribute('id',bttn+'btn_'+srcid); btn.setAttribute('class','button'); btn.setAttribute('name','Toolbox'); btn.setAttribute('title',h); btn.setAttribute('onclick',o); document.getElementById('ctrlDiv').appendChild(btn); } which works fine in IE8 and IE9, but in IE7 it refuses to pick up the style 'button'. I've even tried putting in btn.class='button' but JS throws up an error. If I specify the style by btn.style.position='Absolute' it picks this up OK. However, it won't respond to the onclick event either. I have heard that setAttribute is buggy with IE7, which is why I tried to specify each attribute directly. The style sheet for class button is: Code: .button { position: absolute; left: 5; top: 5; z-index: 1; } (BTW, no link to a website as this is local on my machine atm) TIA, Gerald. I currently have a page which, when the user clicks a button creates a new row displaying a form. I also have other forms on this page however so I was wondering if anyone knew how to close a form using javascript? Thanks for any help. My code to create the table row and form are below... Code: myform = document.createElement("form"); myform.method = "post"; myform.action = "editdetails.php"; myform.id = "editemail"; myform.name = "editemail"; var a=document.getElementById('editdetailstable').insertRow(2); var b=document.getElementById('editdetailstable').insertRow(3); var x=a.insertCell(0); x.innerHTML="New Email: "; x.align = "right"; var y=a.insertCell(1); y.innerHTML="<input type='text' name='email' id='email' />"; var z=b.insertCell(0); z.innerHTML="<input type='button' value='Change' />" z.colSpan = "2"; z.align = "center"; Hi there, so i am working on a website, and on it there is a video with youtube api. I need to hide all Table-rows that are not during each 5 second time frame. So for example, when it is at 0:36, it will hide all TR's besides the TR that has to do with the video between 0:35 and 0:40. Each TR displays a start time, content, and end time. Here is what the tables currently look like. Code: <table width="600" class="table" > <tr class="item-titles"> <td width="75" class="none">Start</td> <td width="400">Caption</td> <td width="75">End</td> </tr> <tr> <td class="none"><a Hi, I have written a code below: Code: <!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD HTML 4.01 Transitional//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/html4/loose.dtd"> <html> <head> <script type="text/javascript"> function emailRowContent(isSelected, emailAddress, severity) { var emailRowObj = document.getElementById('emailRow'); emailRowObj.childNodes[1].childNodes[0].checked = isSelected; emailRowObj.childNodes[3].childNodes[0].value = emailAddress; emailRowObj.childNodes[5].childNodes[0].checked = severity; } function LoadUp() { var emailAddressListObj = document.getElementById('emailAddressList'); var arrayOfEmails = new Array(5); for (i = 0; i < 5; i++) { arrayOfEmails[i] = new emailRowContent( "checked", "fjkum@unknown.com" + i, i ); //emailAddressListObj.appendChild( arrayOfEmails[i] ); /* Somehow this line breaks */ } } </script> <meta http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html; charset=ISO-8859-1"> <title>Insert title here</title> </head> <body onload="javascript:LoadUp();"> <div id="emailRow" class="emailRowClass"> <div><input type="checkbox" class="checkbox1"></div> <div><input type="text" class="textfield"></div> <div><input type="checkbox" class="checkbox2"></div> </div> <div id="emailAddressList" class="emailAddressClass"></div> </body> </html> Basically, what I want to do is to dynamically create 5 instances of "emailRow" onto the web page making use of Javascript DOM. But have no success in getting it to work. Can anyone shed some light? Mike Let's say I would want to create a custom object with properties. The properties would get their values from text input fields. The only thing that I can't get is how to assign variables to the new instances of the object. Here's my go at it: //First create object prototype function Obj(prop1,prop2,prop3) { this.prop1=prop1; this.prop2=prop2; this.prop3=prop3; this.showProps=showProps; //This method will show all props } //Array for storing each object instance var Objects=new Array(),i=-1; //---Now the HTML code <form name="myform" onSubmit="Objects[i++]=new Obj(text1.value,text2.value,text3.value)"> <b>Age:</b><input name="text1"> <b>Sex:</b><input name="text2"> <b>Location:</b><input name="text3"> <input type="submit"> </form> Ok,so knowing that each array element can store anything, including another object I used an Array to store each object instance. But is there any other way of storing objects? like in variables. Hello all, I am doing a website project and in that currently I am designing a product page. I have to design add values to text boxes and drag and drop the text boxes in the workspace and delete the text boxes the user does not want and have to draw a graphical line between the text boxes which are in order. I have designed and coded everything except the graphical line part. I am a learner in javascript and Can we draw a graphical line dynamically between the text boxes in the webpage? If we can draw, can anyone let me know the tutorial for that so that I can learn and start coding as I have to submit that project soon. Thank you. Hi all Not sure how to tackle this. I haven't done any DOM manipulation and this is a tag within a tag. Another thing is submit is Ajax and therefore can be hit many times --- so I guess I need to also check if element already exists. The result comes back from PHP and I think wipes out anything in the result area. I want to create this: Code: <span id="loading"><img src="loading.gif" /></span> Code: <div id="results">which should populate here</div> <script type="text/javascript"> function loading(){ ? </script> <input type="button" name="submit" id="submit" onclick="loading();"/> How do I begin this? Help appreciated. LT oh this is my Ajax just in case what i'm trying to do should be done from here. Code: <script type="text/javascript"> $(document).ready(function() { $('#submit').click(function(){ //Get the values var amount = $('#amount').val(); var from = $('#from').val(); var to = $('#to').val(); var params = "amount=" + amount + "&from=" + from + "&to=" + to; $.ajax({ type: "POST", url: "change.php", data: params, success: function(data){ $('#results').html(data).fadeIn("slow"); } }); }); }); </script> Hi, im new to Js and i have this code: Code: var div = document.createElement("div"); div.id = field+count; div.name = field+count; div.class = "bubble_green"; var p = document.createElement("p"); p.appendChild(document.createTextNode('Question '+count)); div.appendChild(p); field_area.appendChild(div); assuming that the variables are all correct and working, why is only this produced: Code: <div id="question_3"><p>Question 3</p></div> instead of: Code: <div id="question_3" name="question_3" class="bubble_green"><p>Question 3</p></div> and is there a solution? Hi guys, I created a form that contains about 10 form fields and would like to add the option to dynamically add more sets of those 10 fields if a user clicks a word or a button but I need help. I'm a beginner when it comes to JavaScript and would appreciate any help. This is what I need to generate dynamically. Can someone give me an idea of how to get started please? Code: <div id="dynamicInput"> <ul> <li>1</li> <li><input name='textfield1' type='text' size='10' /></li> <li><select name='commodity' width='100' style='width: 100px'> <option>Option 1</option> </select></li> <li><input name='textfield2' type='text' size='5' /></li> <li><input name='textfield3' type='text' size='10' /></li> <li><input name='textfield4' type='text' size='10' /></li> <li><input name='textfield5' type='text' size='10' /></li> <li><input name='textfield6' type='text' size='5' /></li> <li><input name='textfield7' type='text' size='5' /></li> <li><input name='textfield8' type='text' size='5' /></li> </ul> </div> I'm new here and this is my first post, I hope I can find help here. How can i dynamically generate this type of form element in javascript, including the table rows and columns enclosing the form elements and whenever that 'Add More' button is clicked, a new instant of the same form will generated and select drop down list populated. I have try to google for solution, but without success. I code in PHP, but i need it to integrate in my code. Thanks for your help. I'd like to create a basic form where 3 text input fields are named with the following names referrerId, referrerId2 & referrerId3. My goal is once the text fields within the form are populated with the users data, then once the user clicks submit, a new browser window opens up (in parent window preferably), navigating to the following url exactly as shown. Highlighted in red is the dynamic information I'd like appended. Vacation Packages &referrerId=FIRSTNAME&referrerId2=LASTNAME&referrerId3=AGENTNUMBER Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks! I have a form with 3 fields that will allow a user to search a database of clients by either name, email, or client id number. However, I would like the user to only be able to put information in one field. It can be done be either deleting the other two fields when the user inputs information into a different field, or by disabling the other two fields when the user enters information in one (and also frees up all fields if the user ends up deleting what they entered). I've searched and found several helps that were close to what I need but not exactly. I was wondering if anyone would be able to help. Below is a start of what I had. Basically, it will disable the fields when I mouse out of them but won't re-enable them when I mouse back in. As you can see, I tried various combinations of events. (My code below also doesnt null out the other fields when the user opts to use a different field than the one they first began to enter info in). Any help is much appreciated and if this needs more explanation I will try to clarify better. Thanks Code: <html> <head> <script type="text/javascript"> function makeDisable($ID){ var x=document.getElementById($ID) x.disabled=true } function makeEnable(){ var x=document.getElementById($ID) x.disabled=false } </script> </head> <body> <form name='selectclient' action='client_edit.php' method='get'> <table> <tr> <td align='right'>Client ID:</td> <td><input id='id' type='text' size='20' name='client_id' onmouseout="makeDisable('id')" onmouseover="makeEnable('id')" value='' /></td> </tr> <tr> <td align='right'>Client Email:</td> <td><input id='email' type='text' size='20' name='client_email' onblur="makeDisable('email')" onfocus="makeEnable('email')" value='' /></td> </tr> <tr> <td align='right'>Client Name:</td> <td> <select id='name' name='client_name' onblur="makeDisable('name')" onmouseover="makeEnable('id')"> <option value=''>-- Select --</option> <option value='1' >Ted</option> <option value='2' >David</option> <option value='3' >Zack</option> </select> </td> </tr> <tr> <td align='left'><input value='Edit' type='submit' name='submit' /></td> </tr> </table> </form> </body> </html> var newlink = document.createElement("a"); newlink.setAttribute("class", "mhs uiButton"); newlink.setAttribute("role", "button"); newlink.setAttribute("href", "http://www.facebook.com/#"); newlink.setAttribute("onlick","FriendBrowserCheckboxController.makeFriendRequest(this, '+javaedit.text+'); return false;"); alert(newlink.classname); why alert newlink.classname return as undefined ? i have set class = mhs uiButton already, should be return mhs uiButton? Hello everyone, i am having a few problems with my form and i was hoping someone can help me understand what i am doing wrong. I'm new to java and scripting for forms. Usually i use Simfatic Forms to build my forms but this form requires special coding and work. I'm build a 5 table form with a dynamically add and remove function that will allow the user to add more Rows to the form. What i would like the add function to do is allow my users to pick from a Dropdown menu how many rows they would like to add to the form from 1,5,10,15,20,25 rows. I have gotten the form to allow the add function of one row only but i cant get the add function to allow the select from list. when the row repeats it wont repeat the datepicker to a workable map or the number system from 5+ in table ren5 i have the page up on my site for testing purposes so you can see what is going on. Another issue im having is when i submit the form to my formtools it takes all the input info and puts it in one line in the datebase. What im trying to do is have each table submit to its own row in the datebase. What im looking for is help understanding what i need to do to make this work. I have been reading a lot of tutorials and have been searching a lot of help sites but everything i have read and tried so far will not work for what im trying to do. I really need help getting this to work in the next couple of days. Here is the link to the page on my server so you can see what is going on.http://www.poweronlydispatch.com/FastPostLoad.html Any help would be very helpful. Thank you all in-advance for your help and understanding off my problem. I need to access a button on a form and perform task using onclick. When I view the source of the page, the id of the button seems to be dynamic with a 'Link' suffix. (ex. xtydLink). How can I access this button if I cannot use getelementbyid because the ID changes? Thanks in advance |
