JavaScript - How To Find The Location Of The Javascript Link
Probably a trivial question, but after a quick search I could not find the answer.
I link a .js file in my .html, the .js might be in the same directrory as the .html or somewhere else. within the .js file, I'd like to find out with which path the .js was loaded by the .html. So, if the .html contains Code: script src="path/here/there/myscript.js" type="text/javascript" I'd like to have a way, in the file myscript.js to gather "path/here/there/" How to do that? Thanks. Similar TutorialsHi, below is my code and i cant seem to figure out how i can loop the string and find the location of letter "a" in the string and display it like "1 3 17" ... i cant seem to figure out what i am doing wrong in the loop and keep getting "1 1" ... Thanks before hand! <html> <body> <script type="text/javascript"> var char = "a"; var str="JavaScript is great!" var pos= 0 for(i=0; i<=str.length; i++) { if(pos == i) { var pos = str.indexOf("a") document.write(pos++ + " ") } } </script> </body> </html> Hi all we are in desperate need of a solution, we have tried and search different methods but none of us can figure it out. Basically we need to find a word which is inside a class and display a link. So something like this find a word equal to "1 line custom" then display this <a href="/1-line-custom.htm">click here</a> I'm not sure if this is really simple or not. Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks Will I was debugging my code looking for a loop. So in the process I added a confirm request and if the user clicked cancel I coded location.replace("Kill.html"). Problem was that the JAVASCRIPT continued to run until either it finished or I used the Task Manager to end the session. There3 was a small difference in browsers: Firefox put up the new screen while continuing to run the JAVASCRIPT while IE didn't put up the new screen until after the JAVASCRIPT was finished. I could tell the JAVASCRIPT was still running because the confirm messages kept popping up.
Is it possible to use JavaScript to locate all of the "smiley sad Icon.jpg"'s and output the location within the table? Such as A3, and B2. Thank you in advance. Code: <html> <body> <table width="200" border="1"> <tr Id="A"> <td Id="1"><img src="http://www.hencam.co.uk/hencam_forum//extensions/Smile/tango/face-smile.png"> </td> <td Id="2"><img src="http://www.hencam.co.uk/hencam_forum//extensions/Smile/tango/face-smile.png"></td> <td Id="3"><img src="http://www.iconeasy.com/icon/thumbnails/System/Icons%20for%20Developers/smiley%20sad%20Icon.jpg"></td> </tr> <tr Id="B"> <td Id="1"><img src="http://www.hencam.co.uk/hencam_forum//extensions/Smile/tango/face-smile.png"></td> <td Id="2"><img src="http://www.iconeasy.com/icon/thumbnails/System/Icons%20for%20Developers/smiley%20sad%20Icon.jpg"></td> <td Id="3"><img src="http://www.hencam.co.uk/hencam_forum//extensions/Smile/tango/face-smile.png"></td> </tr> <tr Id="C"> <td Id="1"><img src="http://www.hencam.co.uk/hencam_forum//extensions/Smile/tango/face-smile.png"></td> <td Id="2"><img src="http://www.hencam.co.uk/hencam_forum//extensions/Smile/tango/face-smile.png"></td> <td Id="3"><img src="http://www.hencam.co.uk/hencam_forum//extensions/Smile/tango/face-smile.png"></td> </tr> </table> </body> </html> There are 2 images, and 2 locations, lets named it img1, img2, loc1, and loc2. What im trying to do is drag and drop img1 to loc1, which mean i don't want img1 to be drop in loc2, i want the specific image drop on specific location. Code: function dropIn(evt) { var root = document.getElementsByTagName("body")[0]; evt.preventDefault(); var id = evt.dataTransfer.getData("text"); if(ev.target.getAttribute('data-drop') == id) ev.target.appendChild(document.getElementById(id)); } <div id="box1" style="position: absolute; top: 220px; left: 220px;" ondragover="dragIn();" ondrop="dropIn();" > <img id="img1" class="resize" src="wreck.jpg" ondragstart="dragBegin()" draggable="true" style="cursor:move;"/></div> <div id="loc1" data-drop="img1" style="border:1px solid black; position:absolute; left:400px; top:150px; width:160px; height:200px;"ondragover="dragIn();" ondrop="dropIn();" ></div> <div id="box2" style="position: absolute; top: 220px; left: 300px;" ondragover="dragIn();" ondrop="dropIn();" > <img id="img2" class="resize" src="nah.jpg" ondragstart="dragBegin()" draggable="true" style="cursor:move;"/></div> <div id="loc2" data-drop="img2" style="border:1px solid black; position:absolute; left:560px; top:150px; width:160px; height:200px;"ondragover="dragIn();" ondrop="dropIn();" ></div> so far the code above allow me to achieve what i want, but its not perfect, when i drop img1 to loc2, it did nothing. What i really want is when i drop img1 to loc2, the img1 is still dropped on the loc1. No matter where the img1 will be drop by user, the result of img1 will still be dropped on loc1, and same goes to img2, it will always be dropped on the loc2. I tried this but its not working Code: if(evt.target.getAttribute('data-drop') == id){ evt.target.appendChild(document.getElementById(id)); } else{ evt.target.appendChild(document.getElementsByAttribute('data-drop')); } is there any soloution for me? Thanks alot Code: <script language="JavaScript" type="text/javascript"> function confirmDelete(url){ var decision = confirm("Click OK to delete this post."); if(decision == true){ window.location = url; } } </script> <!--HTML LATER ON --> <a onclick="confirmDelete('deletePost.php?id=17')" href=''><img src='delete.png' alt='' title='Delete this post' /></a> I get absolutely nothing out of this. The confirm box pops up, but a the URL never changes when I click OK. I have no clue what's going wrong here. I'm using Google Chrome to test this out if that helps. Also does not work in Firefox. Hello, please tell me where can I find script visible on page www.frendzel.pl (Big picture changing every few second to another from the list on the left)
I have a problem finding Form in javascript. document.getElementById('MyForm'); return "HTMLUnknownElement". But if I add a dummy form previous for the one I actually want to find, then: document.getElementById('DummyForm'); returns "HTMLUnknownElement", and then document.getElementById('MyForm'); Returns "HTMLFormElement", that is what need. But this unknown element, the dummy form creates a lot of other problems with my site so this solution is no good for me. Why cant I find my Form? Thanks. Hello, I have recently started a website which tells visitor's IP address, location and others details. I want to add some more functions to it. I found no way to detect visitors Internet Service Provider (ISP) using PHP. I would like to know if there is any way to do so in Javascript. Click the below link to view the site: Show IP Please help me ASAP. Regards, Wasif K. My page has a form which has some sections that do not show unless needed, but if JS is turned off then these section will never show, so looking for a way to test if it is on or not and if not allow the page to display everything that would normally be hidden unless needed.
Hi. I am very new to javascript, so I might not even be wording my question right, but I am going to try and be as concise and specific as possible. I am using jquery on my website- the galleria plugin- to make a slideshow. you can see the completed show he http://www.pauljameswilliams.com/demo2a.html This slideshow will be one of three on my website. Each slide show will opperate the same exact way.I have built in tabbed navifation, and the slideshows will all be accessable under the "portfolio" tab by clicking on their corresponding links. check out the site he http://www.pauljameswilliams.com/portfolio.html As it is I have one slideshow up, although not yet connected to the corresponding link, but the images won't load. My guess is that because the div tag is hidden that the contents don't load propperly and I need the contents to load when the corresponding div tag that it is contained in becomes visible but I don't know how to do that. this is the javascript that I have written to show/hide the <div> tags where the content will live. Three slide shows will live in content_2 and show/hide when the corresponding button is pressed. Code: function tabSwitch(new_tab, new_content) { document.getElementById('content_1').style.display = 'none'; document.getElementById('content_2').style.display = 'none'; document.getElementById('content_3').style.display = 'none'; document.getElementById('content_4').style.display = 'none'; document.getElementById(new_content).style.display = 'block'; document.getElementById('btn_1').className = ''; document.getElementById('btn_2').className = ''; document.getElementById('btn_3').className = ''; document.getElementById('btn_4').className = ''; document.getElementById(new_tab).className = 'current'; } thank you- I am really stuck. i promise, i am actually learning javascript, I'm not just trying to get other people to do my work for me. Hi, I'm using the following Javascript code to show a div layer depending on the URL Code: <script type="text/javascript"> if (location.href.match(/folder/)) { document.getElementById("div-layer").style.display="block"; } </script> This works perfectly when I visit http://www.domain.com/folder but I do not want it to match any subfolders beneath /folder, for example: http://www.domain.com/folder/sub-folder http://www.domain.com/folder/sub-folder2 etc. Does anyone know how I can modify the code to only match /folder or /folder/ and no subfolders beneath it? Thank you in advance. Does anyone know how to make URL links that use Javascript still work when users have Javascript disabled on their browser? The only reason I'm using JS on a URL is because my link opens a PDF file, and I'm forcing it not to cache so users have the latest version. I tried the <script><noscript> tags, but I'm not sure if I'm using it correctly, as my URL completely disappears. Below is my HTML/Javascript code: <p class="download"> <script type="text/javascript">document.write("<span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><a href=\"javascript:void(0);\" onclick=\"window.open( 'http://www.webchild.com.au/mediakit/Direct_Media_Kit_Web.pdf?nocache='+ Math.floor( Math.random()*11 ) );\" >The Child Magazines Media Kit</a></span> (PDF 1 MB) ");</script> <noscript><span style="text-decoration: underline;"><a href="http://www.webchild.com.au/mediakit/Direct_Media_Kit_Web.pdf" >The Child Magazines Media Kit</a></span> (PDF 1 MB)</noscript> </p> Thanks for any help, Michael What are the differences between results of these two. Code: window.location.hostname or Code: document.location.hostname is it possible to link to a page and then run a javascript all in the same href? for example, i want to redirect back to the home page after a user makes a comment and show the hidden comment div this is my javascript command: Code: <a href="javascript:InsertContent('competitiveevents'); RemoveContent('stories'); InsertContent('blog-comments');"> but can i do something like this..? (i.e. you can look through different categories while staying on the homepage). An example of what I mean is at the bottom of this page: http://www.huffingtonpost.com/ Any help would be much appreciated! I've just started to learn Javascript at college, and I made a little code that traps people in a dialogue box loop. var escape = 0 for(escape === 0; escape <= 1 confirm("Going somewhere?") I want to know if there is a site, or a possibility I can start this code, simple by sending friends a URL they can click on. For completely innocent purposes, of course. Thanks! |
