JavaScript - Can .innerhtml Be Used To Display Content From A Xml Generated Treeview?
Similar TutorialsHi all, I have a javascript+CSS based popup (? by toggling display property), which works well. The popup <div> consist of an <h3>, <img> (serves as close button) and a big <ol> (This markup is in a seperate file and is about 2KB) I need to bring the content via Ajax rather than statically placing it inside the document. I'm very reluctant to use innerHTML, as it's non standard and I may lose the "close" action from the img(mentioned above), which would be there otherwise. My other option is to save the content(without any html tag) in a php array and return through Ajax, and then dynamically create all html nodes with all attributes using proper DOM methods. I expect some advice from you to choose the right one. PS: My popup script is obtained from http://www.php-development.ru/javasc...pup-window.php Problem: I have a DIV whose content needs to change on mouseover and return to prior state on mouse out. I do not want to pre store the divs inner HTML in variables. So I am trying to get the script on execution (mouseover) to grab the existing innerHTML from the DIV, assign it to a variable, then write the new innerHTML content. on mouse out, function sets innerHTML to the variable in order to restore original content. For some reason the code below causes a strange flicker effect, also sometimes it catches the mouseout and works, other times it does not catch mouseout and is stuck with the content changed on mouse over? any ideas why/how i set this up wrong? HTML Code: <div id="ac-repair-inspection" class="bgbblue cborder" onMouseOver="test();" onMouseOut="testo();" > <div class="ctr"><h2 class="fs19 uline">COOLING SYSTEM TUNE-UP</h2></div> <div style="padding-left:17px"> <ul style="padding:0;" class="fs15"> <li>Check Refrigerant Pressures</li> <li>Monitor Thermal Expansion Valve operation</li> <li>Check temperature differential</li> </ul> </div> <!-- end list --> </div> <!-- end ac repair inspection --> SCRIPT (Placed at end of HTML before closing body tag) Code: <script type="text/javascript"> var temp= document.getElementById("ac-repair-inspection").innerHTML; function test() {document.getElementById("ac-repair-inspection").innerHTML="<img src='../images/layout_images/cold-tune-up-promo.png' width='340' height='428'>";} function testo() { document.getElementById("ac-repair-inspection").innerHTML= temp;} </script> CSS Code: #ac-repair-inspection { position:absolute; width:340px; height:428px; left: 453px; top: 10px; } Hi All I'm going to keep this simple. I'm using a hashchange plugin for my page navigation I can't get scripts to run for the AJAX generated content. They run perfectly without the hashchange Here is a link to my current project: http://www.bluecoast.co.uk/test/temptation Here is the script that handles the hashchange: Code: $(function() { var newHash = "", $mainContent = $("#right"), $pageWrap = $("#wrap"), baseHeight = 0, $el; $pageWrap.height($pageWrap.height()); baseHeight = $pageWrap.height() - $pageWrap.height(); $("nav").delegate("a", "click", function() { window.location.hash = $(this).attr("href"); return false; }); $(window).bind('hashchange', function(){ newHash = window.location.hash.substring(1); if (newHash) { $mainContent .find("#guts") .fadeOut(200, function() { $mainContent.hide().load(newHash + " #guts", function() { $mainContent.fadeIn(200, function() { $pageWrap.animate({ height: baseHeight + $mainContent.height() + "px" }); }); $("nav a").removeClass("current"); $("nav a[href="+newHash+"]").addClass("current"); }); }); }; }); $(window).trigger('hashchange'); }); I'm loading the scripts in the header of the main index.php page like so: Code: <script type="text/javascript" src="js/jquery-1.6.4.min.js"></script> <script type="text/javascript" src="js/jquery.form.js"></script> <script type="text/javascript" src="js/jquery.tweet.js"></script> <script type="text/javascript" src="js/easing.js"></script> <script type="text/javascript" src="js/jquery.anythingslider.min.js"></script> <script type="text/javascript" src="js/jquery.prettyPhoto.js"></script> <script type="text/javascript" src="js/jquery.tools.min.js"></script> <script type="text/javascript" src="js/jquery.localscroll-1.2.7-min.js"></script> <!--[if IE 7]><link href="css/ie7.css" rel="stylesheet" type="text/css" media="screen" /><![endif]--> <script type='text/javascript' src='js/jquery.ba-hashchange.min.js'></script> <script type='text/javascript' src='js/dynamicpage.js'></script> <!--[if IE]> <script src="js/html5.js"></script> <![endif]--> <script type="text/javascript" src="js/custom.js"></script> Would somebody be kind enough to help me with this? Thanks in advance Craig Im working on a 2nd case and I could use some help I need to replace the content of the welcome box Code: <div id="welcome"> Today is<br /> Tuesday, May 29, 2007 <br /><br /> Born today<br /> Ian Fleming (1908) - Author </div> with generated text that displays the current date, and the name of a famous person born on that date. Including comments that describe each of the variables used in writing this code and the functions that the code accesses. Hi guys, The code in question is www.spectral.og.uk/test5/work2.htm I am trying to change the main 'SPECTRAL' video content mid-right when I click on the 'Change Movie' at the bottom. Eventually I want to be able to do this from the thumbnails but Im just running a simple test first. So I defined the function 'ChangeMOVIE' on line 14 using document.getElementById & innerHTML, etc, to replicate the flash player script contents that are incidentally ID'd as "BIGCHANGE" (ie, part of the main flash player on line 249) but simply replacing a different name for the video when it reaches the Flashvars "&file=Splash.flv" to something else to effect the change of video content I'm after, 'Olay.flv' I think. I have tried so hard to research into this but it just doesn't work. Is the problem to do with that :- 1) You can't ID something within <script>, ie BIGCHANGE in this instance. 2) innerHTML is only really for text replacement, not the amount of script I've stuck into it to replace within the whole <TD> cell with ID 'VID' (ie the main flash player) even though I've used delimiters and everything within the innerHTML data to try and not confuse it with apostrophes within speach marks, etc Any thoughts where I'm going wrong? Maybe Im barking up the wrong tree on this! Thanks so much guys for any headsup on a solution to this as I've been up all night for about a week on this! Dom I am trying to have the user input data into a box on a form and when they press an "Add" button, what they typed in the input field should appear in a box below. I can get it to to work....slightly. What they typed pops up where it should be, but then it disappears. Any idea as to stop that? Here is the javascript code and the form code: Code: <script type="text/javascript"> var array = new Array(); function insert(val){ array[array.length]=val; } function show() { var string=""; for(i = 0; i < array.length; i++) { string =string+array[i]+"<br>"; } if(array.length > 0) document.getElementById('quickSearchIngList').innerHTML = string; } </script> Code: <form> <table> <th>Recipe Quick Search</th> <tr> <td class="quickSearchHeader">Ingredient:</td> </tr> <tr> <td><input type="text" name="quicksearch" size="18" id="quickSearchInput"/></td> </tr> <tr> <td class="quickSearchAddButton" id="quickSearchAddButton"><input type='image' src='images/quickAddButton.png' name='quicksearchadd' alt='Add' onclick='insert(this.form.quicksearch.value),show();'/></td> </tr> </table> </form> <div class="quickSearchIngList" id="quickSearchIngList"> </div> I wish to know how I can count how many lines there are by searching the innerHTML of a div can anyone suggest how this can be done? also when the new line is added in my code it clears the content of all the existing fields if there was anything in them before the add link was clicked Code: <!DOCTYPE HTML PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD HTML 4.01 Transitional//EN"> <html> <head> <title>Untitled Document</title> <meta http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html; charset=iso-8859-1"> <script type="text/javascript"><!-- function addmore() { // count existing boxes to find out next number to use. // ? document.getElementById('namesdiv').innerHTML += '<textarea name="name_added" cols="30" rows="2"></textarea><br>'; document.getElementById('addressesdiv').innerHTML += '<textarea name="address_added" cols="30" rows="2"></textarea><br>'; document.getElementById('mobilesdiv').innerHTML += '<textarea name="mobile_added" cols="30" rows="2"></textarea><br>'; } --></script> </head> <body> <form> <div style="width: 850px;"> <div id="namesdiv" style="float: left; padding-right: 10px;">Client's Names<br> <textarea name="name1" cols="30" rows="2"></textarea><br> <textarea name="name2" cols="30" rows="2"></textarea><br> <textarea name="name3" cols="30" rows="2"></textarea><br> <textarea name="name4" cols="30" rows="2"></textarea><br> <textarea name="name5" cols="30" rows="2"></textarea><br> </div> <div id="addressesdiv" style="float: left; padding-right: 10px;">Client's Addresses<br> <textarea name="address1" cols="30" rows="2"></textarea><br> <textarea name="address2" cols="30" rows="2"></textarea><br> <textarea name="address3" cols="30" rows="2"></textarea><br> <textarea name="address4" cols="30" rows="2"></textarea><br> <textarea name="address5" cols="30" rows="2"></textarea><br> </div> <div id="mobilesdiv" style="float: left;">Client's Mobile numbers<br> <textarea name="mobile1" cols="30" rows="2"></textarea><br> <textarea name="mobile2" cols="30" rows="2"></textarea><br> <textarea name="mobile3" cols="30" rows="2"></textarea><br> <textarea name="mobile4" cols="30" rows="2"></textarea><br> <textarea name="mobile5" cols="30" rows="2"></textarea><br> </div> </div> <br style="clear: both;"> <a href="" onClick="javascript:addmore(); return false;" >Add more</a> </form> </body> </html> Hi, I need you help in javascript solution. i have downloaded the treeview code from http://thejit.org/static/v20/Jit/Exa...ple1.code.html solution looks like: http://thejit.org/static/v20/Jit/Exa.../example1.html and need to modified it my reqirments are below: 1.When tree orientation is left, Diagram should start from left middle of the screen not from center. 2.When tree orientation is top, Diagram should start from top middle of the screen not from center. 3.When tree orientation is right, Diagram should start from right middle of the screen not from center. can anybody help me in this? thanks in advance. Hi guys, any help would be greatly appreciated. I am looking to make a group of questions (FAQs pretty much) and because the answers are so long, I need to hide the answers. So only the questions would be viewable and once the user clicks on the question, the corresponding answer will drop down below. What is the easiest way to go about doing this? I've tried messing around with jquery treeview but I don't think the task is not complicated enough for that. cheers.
Hi, I have created three tabs to display different content in each. Although I can click and go to the specific tab, but except the first 1 the other two tabs don't display any content or html that I have. Can anyone find any problem in the code? I have attached just the html. please excuse the structure of the code as it needs to be that way. thanks If you watch this page http://wouldbebetter.com/ for about 15 seconds, you can see that new "suggestions" will be shown as they are submitted. How can I do this with a post system? I am wanting to display an image for 24 hours, how can I do this?
Hey guys. I'm currently paying for a web service on a hosted platform. Basically, I'm unable to edit any raw content, however I am able to do things like add JS/HTML to the header or footer of a page, which will in turn be displayed on every page of this platform. My dilemma is, I only want content being showed on a single page of the platform. Specifically, I want a window.alert being displayed on the "/signup" page, but all I have to work with is JS in a global footer. Is there some way I can use window.location to achieve this? I'm trying to make a basic rss reader with a google reader-esque functionality of clicking on article names and being able to expand/collapse that article. I'm working on the expand part and am going crazy. I am having no trouble getting content and displaying it without the onclick function but when I try to integrate onclick I can just get the titles. here's the snippet. any help? Code: <!-- HTML --> <body> <div id="feeddiv"></div> <script type="text/javascript"> // feed stuff using Google Feed API function feedLoaded(result) { if (!result.error) { // Grab the container we will put the results into var container = document.getElementById('feeddiv'); container.innerHTML = ''; // Loop through the feeds, putting the titles onto the page. for (var i = 0; i < result.feed.entries.length; i++) { var entry = result.feed.entries[i]; var content = entry.content; var title = entry.title; var url = entry.link; var div = document.createElement('div'); //parentDiv for articles var articleTitle = document.createElement('div'); articleTitle.setAttribute('name', i); //set articleTitle name to article's place in array articleTitle.setAttribute('style', 'font-weight:bold;font-size:15px;'); articleTitle.innerText = title; articleTitle.onclick = function() {populate(content, title, url, i);}; div.appendChild(articleTitle); //adds title to div container.appendChild(div); //adds div to the container } } } function populate(content, title, url, i) { var article = document.getElementByName(i); //gets articleTitle //clickable title var a = document.createElement('a'); //creating title link var href = document.createElement('href'); a.setAttribute('href', url); //putting actual url into html a.setAttribute('style', 'font-size:25px;'); a.innerText = title;//still puts into html //Text var snippet = document.createElement('p'); //creates <p> to throw articles in snippet.innerHTML = content; //renders the article article.appendChild(a); article.appendChild(snippet); } </script> </body> I know that when you "display: none" with CSS it will not show the div content in the browser, but will still show the div and content in page source. Is there a way (via javascript or anything else) to also remove the content from page source at the same time? Thanks. Hi, all! I'm a "fresh" newbie, JS self-taught from the great resources provided in this forum. I want to better currently working page but lack enough knowledge atm. The situation is this: * Multimedia database - audio clips and corresponding video clips to some of the audio ones. * Dynamic content page showing the latest (by date) 5 or 10 clips with their info from db. * Links provided for each clip, both to listen in a new popup window and to download the clip. Accomplished so far: everything of the above *only* for the audio clips (and video ones but separately on a different page). Every record in the data base has an audio clip and some of them, not all, have a video clip. E.g. there are records only with audio clips and there are records both with audio and video clips. My question is is it possible wherever there's a video clip in the db in an already displayed db-record on the page to display 'watch' and 'download' icon for it together with already shown audio icons ('listen' and 'download')? Conditional displaying. I read about combination between JS and CSS in almost similar situation but don't know how to apply it in my situation due to my little knowledge base at this moment. So, any help will be highly appreciated and useful as it will push me forward in learning JS. I'm almost sure this is possible as it's not a complicated issue. I can post my so far working code, if requested. If not provided enough info on the issue, let me know. Thank you in advance! Hi all, this is the code I'm using in order to display the contents of an xml file into a page. It's working fine with IE but with Firefox. I have searched over intrenet and have applied all suggestions I've found about this issue. Unfortunately it's still not working. Can you please help me??? Code: function importXML() { if (document.implementation && document.implementation.createDocument) { xmlDoc = document.implementation.createDocument("", "", null); xmlDoc.onload = createTable; } else if (window.ActiveXObject) { xmlDoc = new ActiveXObject("Microsoft.XMLDOM"); xmlDoc.onreadystatechange = function () { if (xmlDoc.readyState == 4) createTable() }; } else { alert('Your browser can\'t handle this script'); return; } xmlDoc.load("news.xml"); } function createTable() { var x = xmlDoc.getElementsByTagName('event'); var newEl = document.createElement('table'); newEl.style.width = '100%'; newEl.setAttribute('cellPadding',0); newEl.setAttribute('cellspacing',0); var tmp = document.createElement('TBODY'); newEl.appendChild(tmp); for (i=0;i<x.length;i++) { var row = document.createElement('TR'); if (x[i].childNodes[0].nodeType != 1) continue; var container = document.createElement('<TD style="padding-left:3px; font-weight:bold;">'); var theData = document.createTextNode(x[i].childNodes[0].firstChild.nodeValue); container.appendChild(theData); row.appendChild(container); tmp.appendChild(row); row = document.createElement('TR'); if (x[i].childNodes[1].nodeType != 1) continue; var container = document.createElement('<TD class="box_2">'); var theData = document.createTextNode(x[i].childNodes[1].firstChild.nodeValue); container.appendChild(theData); row.appendChild(container); tmp.appendChild(row); } document.getElementById('writeroot').appendChild(newEl); } Hi, I am Aditya. I am explaining below the exact scenario where I need the help: I am developing a web application in which I need to integrate a javascript/html editor on some of the web pages and then provide 'Edit' buttons on those web pages so that users can edit the content on that partciular html/jsp page (like editing in wiki pages) and then, when they add some content and click on submit button, the new content should appear on the web page with all the formatting (i.e. bold, italics, color and so on) which was applied by user when he was entering the text. Now, I need help for the below issues: 1. Please suggest me a good javascript/html editor (freely downloadable) which I can use to integrate with my web pages. 2. Once the user has entered some content using the above javascript editor, how to make that content reach the server and update the corresponding web page. I am new to web development, so may be that these questions are too simple. But, I need some help from you. Waiting for your reply, Thanks, Aditya Hey, for some reason, this isn't working because of the src="images/edit.png" attribute. Here is my code: Code: <a href="#" onclick="change('HEYYY')"><img src="images/edit.png" alt="Edit" id="edit1" /></a> Javascript (External) Code: function change(message) { document.getElementById('edit1').innerHTML = '<input type="text" value="'+message+'" />'; } It does nothing. But if I take the src attribute out, it works fine. Any help? Thanks. |
