I want something a script or anything that shows loading as we have seen .gif images, before the game loads. My issue is I would like to have this code validate my radio buttons on my form and also have an onscreen pop-up in the case that the user is exiting the page without filling out the form. I have had both of these peices of code working...but when I put both of them on the page the pop-up will override the validation script, and I don't wish to have the pop-up, pop-up when the user hits the submit button. Here are my pieces of code: Inside my head tag: Code: <script language="JavaScript"> function closeIt() { return "\n********************************************\nWAIT! WAIT! WAIT! WAIT! WAIT! WAIT!\n********************************************\n\nDon't leave just yet...\n\nDon't worry - We will never rent, sell or\nshare your contact information, with\nanyone else. We respect your privacy\nand hate spam too!\n\n"; } window.onbeforeunload = closeIt; </script> <script language="JavaScript"> function valbutton(thisform) { // place any other field validations that you require here // validate myradiobuttons myOption = -1; for (i=thisform.infusion_option_0.length-1; i > -1; i--) { if (thisform.infusion_option_0[i].checked) { myOption = i; i = -1; } } if (myOption == -1) { alert("You must select an event city date"); return false; } // place any other field validations that you require here thisform.submit(); // this line submits the form after validation } </script> And then for my form and submit code I have: Code: <form name="myform" action="https://mydomain.com/AddForms/processFormSecure.jsp" method='POST' onSubmit="return NoneWithCheck();"> <input id="Submit" name="Submit" type="submit" value="Submit" onClick="valbutton(myform);return false;" /></form> Any help would be appreciated, thanks. I'm trying to figure out how to add a length paramater to this function. Hello Coding Forum gurus, I'm hoping to find some help here with a javascript order form. I am currently working on a javascript form that requires field validation as well as a summary page (order confirmation) after every field is entered correctly. At this point I am satisfied with the field validation portion of the script, however, I am not sure how to call a function to display the summary page. here is a description of my dilemma: To begin, the field validation functions are called by the form's onsubmit event handler. Which then works it way through several text field validation functions. After the script finishes validating and checking each field for acceptable input, how do I call a function to display a summary page of the order form? On a side note, the only programming experience I have ever had is with javascript. I have never taken any other programming classes, and I am fairly new to this. Any help would be appreciated. Not sure if I am allowed to post the entire script here or not but I'd be willing to send to anyone that would like to take a look, HUGE THANK YOU in advance to anyone that takes time out of their busy schedules to take a look. Hi everyone. New programmer here trying to get fix this one specific issue I am having and I could use some help. Using Javascript, ASP.net with C# code behind. I am validating a textbox using the onblur event. It is being validated in that it must have an alphanumeric entry before the user tabs off of it to the next box. The validation part works, the part that doesn't work is that I get the validation alert textbox if I close the window. I have a workaround in that I am assigning that textbox a character using windo.onberforeunload but I know that isn't right. Here is what I have so far... Code behind on Page_Load... Code: txtCLBRTNWC.Attributes.Add("onblur", "return reqVLD(this)"); here is my textbox field... Code: <asp:TextBox ID="txtCLBRTNWC" runat="server" Width="75" MaxLength="4" ontextchanged="txtCLBRTNWC_TextChanged" TabIndex="1" onkeyup="clbwclngCHK(this);" ></asp:TextBox> And here are the 2 functions being used... Code: function reqVLD(alphanumericChar) { var chk = /^[a-zA-Z0-9]+$/; // var boxid = document.getElementById("<%=txtCLBRTNWC.ClientID%>").value; // var matchArray = boxid.match(chk); if(document.getElementById("<%=txtCLBRTNWC.ClientID%>").value.match(chk)) { return true; } else { document.getElementById("<%=txtCLBRTNWC.ClientID%>").focus(); document.getElementById("<%=txtCLBRTNWC.ClientID%>").value = ""; alert("Please enter a Work Center."); return false; } } function clbwclngCHK(obj_in)//When txtCLBRTNWC entry hits the max of 4 auto focuses to next box. { if (obj_in.value.length == 4) document.getElementById("<%=txtSTRTDT.ClientID%>").focus(); } Here is my work around... Code: window.onbeforeunload = function () { document.getElementById("<%=txtCLBRTNWC.ClientID%>").value = "1"; } Summary. User has to enter something in box before they can move on. This is checked and validating using an onblur event. Problem is, the onblur event fires if closing\exiting the window. I know there has to be a better way of doing this. Any advise or help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks Will Working of JS form validation now, this is my code: Code: <html> <head> <script> function notEmpty(elem, helperMsg){ if(elem.value.length == 0){ alert(helperMsg); elem.focus(); // set the focus to this input return false; } return true; } </script> </head> <body> <form action="mailto:fonzhende1@yahoo.com" method="post"> <table> <tr> <td>Name:</td> <td> <input type="text" name="name" value="" /> </td> </tr> <tr> <td>email address:</td> <td> <input type="text" name="email" value="" /> </td> </tr> <tr> <th></th> <td> <input type="submit" value="Submit" /> </td> </tr> </table> <textarea rows="2" cols="20"> Test area </textarea><br/> <br/> <select> <option value="volvo">Volvo</option> <option value="saab">Saab</option> <option value="mercedes">Mercedes</option> <option value="audi">Audi</option> </select><br/> <br/> <input type="radio" name="group1" value="Milk"> Milk<br> <input type="radio" name="group1" value="Butter" checked> Butter<br> </form> </body> </html> Problem is when I submit the form I am getting what you see in the attachment, I guess this email form which pops up needs to be directed to Yahoo Hosting then redirected from there back to me? Anyway I would like if it the email could be sent directly to me without this form popping up, is that possible? Also, when I submit the form with the fields empty I am not getting the error message? hi again i hope somebody will help me to fix this problem I have a form which has not submit button but two options either to pay or to just submit so i use this in my code: Code: td><input type="button" value="Payment" onClick="this.form.action='payments.php';this.form.submit()" /> <input type="button" value="More Information" onClick="this.form.action='confirmation.php';this.form.submit()" /></td> so when they click on "Payments" they move to "payments.php and when they click on "More Information" they move to confirmation.php. Now my problem is i wants to validated it either through JavaScript or PHP but there is only one way i know with submit method. here i am using onClick function to move to other page. Please if somebody can help i much appericiate. here is the complete code of form i try to use PHP validation here but no luck please help me Code: <?php if ($_POST['submit']) { $title = $_POST['title']; $name = $_POST['name']; $insurance = $_POST['insurance']; $address = $_POST['address']; $phone = $_POST['phone']; $email = $_POST['title']; $error = ""; if (!$title) $error = $error. Thanks I am currently trying to fix a problem on the form submission on my site. On the Request Information page I am using MM_validateForm function and the FormtoEmail.php script. When required fields are blank, you are alerted via pop-up notification when hitting submit. Afterwards though, the form still sends without letting you finish completing required fields. I have noticed that if the First Name field is blank the form will not send, but any other field it just still sends. I have looked this up on Google endlessly and have tried every 'fix'. This is the function: Code: <script type="text/javascript"> <!-- function MM_validateForm() { //v4.0 if (document.getElementById){ var i,p,q,nm,test,num,min,max,errors='',args=MM_validateForm.arguments; for (i=0; i<(args.length-2); i+=3) { test=args[i+2]; val=document.getElementById(args[i]); if (val) { nm=val.name; if ((val=val.value)!="") { if (test.indexOf('isEmail')!=-1) { p=val.indexOf('@'); if (p<1 || p==(val.length-1)) errors+='- '+nm+' Must Contain an Email Address.\n'; } else if (test!='R') { num = parseFloat(val); if (isNaN(val)) errors+='- '+nm+' Must Contain a Valid Phone Number.\n'; if (test.indexOf('inRange') != -1) { p=test.indexOf(':'); min=test.substring(8,p); max=test.substring(p+1); if (num<min || max<num) errors+='- '+nm+' Must Contain a Number Between '+min+' and '+max+'.\n'; } } } else if (test.charAt(0) == 'R') errors += '- '+nm+' Is Required.\n'; } } if (errors){ alert('Please Complete All Required Fields:\n'+errors); } document.MM_returnValue = (errors ==''); } } //--> This is the form html code: Code: <form action="FormToEmail.php" method="post" name="myform" class="cmxform" id="myform" onsubmit="MM_validateForm('first-name','','R');MM_validateForm('last-name','','R');MM_validateForm('workphone','','RisNum');MM_validateForm('address1','','R');MM_validateForm('city','','R');MM_validateForm('state','','R');MM_validateForm('country','','R');return document.MM_returnValue;"> This is the code on the submit button: Code: <input type="submit" class="buttons" onClick="MM_validateForm('first-name','','R');MM_validateForm('last-name','','R');MM_validateForm('workphone','','RisNum');MM_validateForm('address1','','R');MM_validateForm('city','','R');MM_validateForm('state','','R');MM_validateForm('country','','R');return document.MM_returnValue;" value="Send"/> I may be missing something really obvious but i've gone over this for three days. I just recently have moved positions to Website Designer and my main background is in Graphic Design so my knowledge is very minimal. I created this site in a month due to time restrictions and the code is far from perfect. any help would be greatly appreciated. thanks! can anyone help me validate a survey page i have? it has many questions and each question has 5 radio buttons. i followed many guides and none of them worked for me. Ive been trying to do some form validating for a few hours now. I've tried many different combos and trying multiple functions to make this work but I have seemed to make more of a mess than anything now. Here's what I've got going on... A simple form with 3 text inputs a checkbox and a submit button. I'm trying to do 7 things. 1. strip special characters from all 3 input fields (except : / and @) 2. make sure no input fields are blank 3. verify that email has @ and . in it 4. insure that the checkbox is checked I would love to set the email not to allow certain domains(yahoo, gmail) but that is a bit out of my league. Any help would be appreciated, below is the current garbled mess of javascript I am left with after hours of trying to get it to work... my appologies. I know it's ugly. Code: <script LANGUAGE="Javascript"> <!-- Begin function CleanUp() { name = document.register.name.value; email = document.register.email.value; website = document.register.website.value; var iChars = "!#$%^&*()+=-[]\';,.{}|\"<>?"; //remove crap name for (var i = 0; i < document.register.name.value.length; i++) { if ((iChars.indexOf(document.register.name.charAt(i)) != -1)) { window.alert ("No special characters allowed."); return false; }} //remove crap website for (var i = 0; i < document.register.website.value.length; i++) { if ((iChars.indexOf(document.register.website.charAt(i)) != -1)) { window.alert ("No special characters allowed."); return false; }} //remove crap email for (var i = 0; i < document.register.email.value.length; i++) { if ((iChars.indexOf(document.register.email.charAt(i)) != -1)) { window.alert ("No special characters allowed."); return false; }} //check required field if ((name == "") || (email == "")|| (website == "")) { window.alert("Please enter your Name, website, and E-mail address."); return false; } //verify email if (email.value.indexOf("@", 0) < 0) { window.alert("Please enter a valid e-mail address."); return false; } if (email.value.indexOf(".", 0) < 0) { window.alert("Please enter a valid e-mail address."); return false; } // check agree term before submit if (agree.checked == false ) { alert('Please confirm you are the site owner.'); return false; //done }else return true; } // End --> </script> Hi, I have the below function and I keep getting the error Lid is not defined. Code: <script type="text/javascript"> function loadTips(file,ID,File,id){ alert(file); alert(ID); alert(File); alert(id); loadXMLDoc(file,ID); var l=setTimeout("loadXMLDocRefresh(File,id)",10000); } </script> My trigger button is: <input type="button" class="button3" value="Tips" onclick="loadTips('getTees.php','txtHintTees','getLees.php','txtHintLees')" /> So my alert Lid comes up with txtHintLees, so it is working up until the alert. Which leads me to believe that maybe it doesn't like being wrapped in "", without "" though firebug halts the process. I tried wrapping it in {} e.g. {loadXMLDocRefresh(File,id)} but that wasn't liked either. I'll stop my list of things I tried that don't work now. But does anyone have any ideas? Resolved
Hey guys, hope this is in the right place... Basically I was wondering if anyone could point me in the right direction or to an example of where a div slides onto the screen as soon as a page loads. My client wants something like this: http://www.nytimes.com/packages/html...ion/index.html (without parallax or the fade-in) but I refuse to do it in Flash, obviously. I have this gallery he http://juicenothing.com/freelance/gallery.php The div id is wrap. Is this possible? I can't find a good example anywhere!! Thanks (i'm a bit of a n00b, so pls go easy on me ) i have a javascript bookmark to log me onto my schools site javascript: window.location.href="http://www.MySchool";login=document.getElementById('Login'); void(login.value='user'); pass=document.getElementById('pass');void(pass.value='pass'); LoginbuttonSubmit(); without window.location.href="http://www.MySchool" it works fine if the page is already open, but with using the link to open the page, it runs the remaning script before the page loads and it doesn't work. is there any way to fix this withou using setTimeout() Hi guys, I am new to Javascript and I'm trying to set up a form to make simple calculation based on user inputs. I have set up the form and am unable to get the calculation to work despite what I try (this is based on an online tutorial I found though). Is there any where I am going wrong? Hey guys, I've been searching for a few hours and haven't been able to find a code snippet to see if this is available. I'm attempting to pass text from my website to another website that has a form setup on it. I'd like to fill in the pertinent data for my users on the page that I load for them. I cannot make any changes to the receiving page as it is run by another company. I've pasted some of the code that is available on the receiving form. Thanks for any help.
