JavaScript - Button In A Form That Only Calls A Javascript Function
I want to have a button in a form that only calls a Javascript function, but not refresh the page, how do I do this?
Similar TutorialsI am trying to display some images in, say, 500ms intervals, but I want to loop through images, so I use a for loop and setTimeouts and function calls... Code: for (i=0;i<=5;i++)

(a var that increments the image like image[x] is somewhere else) but I think all I accomplish is that while the above code calls the function 5 times alright, all five function calls occur simultaneously. Right? Eh, I want the function to be called 5 times, but at five different times, namely in 500ms intervals. I thought the function would wait to finish (500 ms) then another call and so on. How can I do that? The above doesn't work and I am not sure what do about the showHint(str) as clearly I am not representing it properly in my attempt to modify the script. Apart from any logical mistakes this thing i have created might have , my question is this.Why upon pressing the last button and calling the "scor(j)" function , no alerts pop up?Thanks in advance. I'm completely stumbled by this as i have no clue as what might be wrong.But then again , my experience is extremely limited Hi, I am not entirely sure what I am doing wrong here, and I have been looking at this for ages, so apologies in advance if I have become so bleary eyed I can't see something simple. I use php to create buttons based on values pulled for a table. The problem I have is when you click on the first button the javascript function works great, when you click on the next button you get the same output even though it should be different results. I am working in ff and I can see on my firebug console that the javascript function is being called, but it is not passing the new value of the second or third button, it just keeps repassing the value of the first button. And getShow.php produces a table with a list of product images, names and prices, based on theme. So basically not sure where I am going wrong here? Hi all, I would like to have an HTML button which, when clicked by the user, contacts the server and runs a Python script on the server. When the Python script finishes running, the current HTML page automatically reloads a file from the server. Is that possible? The code works but when I watch '$' in jQuery "fn" & "prototype" show up as being "jQuery()" but in my code when I watch "x": "fn" and "prototype" are both shown as objects containing "message", "init" and "log" and in both cases "init" contains "prototype" which contains my three functions again and the nesting continues seemingly infinitely... I'm clearly missing something here. What are they doing in differently in jQuery to prevent this endless nesting loop? This doesn't work. I have tried giving them different ids, I have tried replacing the id with checked="id=\'myitem\'", I have tried getElementById(\'myitem.checked\'), I have tried getElementbyName. In my full page I have far more radio buttons, so I don't want to do a getElementById(\'myitem[0].checked || myitem[1].checked etc. I think the solution must be along these lines. But I have run out of alternatives to try. Needless to say as it currently stands it gives the last radio button's value, which means it doesn't like them having the same id, but when I tried changing how the id was applied, or called - ElementByName, FF gives the error message as id is null. I'm wondering where I would enter this javacript code inside the form code to pick up both the button click - plus the quantity? You'll notice that I'm using 'getElementByName' to extract 'quantity' from the text box and record its 'value'. If I enter this javascript on the 'Add to Cart' line - right after "Add to Cart", would 'quantity' still get picked up upon button-click - since it's all on the same form? IB Hello all I created a form which has a lot of textboxes, checkboxes and select-lists which are getting filled up by the records from a database table. I am basically creating an edit screen for a record. No I want to check all these input elements using javascript validation. I want this to performed when a button "Archive" is pressed. My problem is this "Archive button" needs to be a submit button. This does run the javascript validation but after completing the validation it submits the form. I want that submission should be stopped when the validation is violated. how can I do this? What I want is a button which acts as a default button (triggers the onclick event when I press enter) but submits only if the form is valid. I have two password fields on a webpage form. If the passwords don't match, I want to display a message. I could use a popup, I could redirect to a page containing the message with another redirect back to the form or, the option I'd like to use, have a hidden table cell in the form containing the message that displays should the form be submitted without matching passwords. If I use the latter, where do I call the javascript function to display the hidden table cell? So in effect, only javascript function would execute if the passwords don't match, the action page itself shouldn't load at all. Can/should this be done on the action page?
Hi all - first post - I'm not too hot on javascript so I don't know if this can be done nor how to search for it in the forum because I don't know what keywords to use - but if I give an idea of what I want to do, perhaps someone can suggest an idea of how to proceed? I have two left floated divs - in the left div I want a series of drop downs (possibly check boxes as well) about a series of products. When the user makes their decision and presses submit, I want the form to submit to a javascript function that says "Right, you will need, from your responses, product C" and in the right hand floated div, a series of hidden product info divs whose visibility is changed depending on which product the function determines is the one for you. Broken down into parts I think I need to do the following: a) Standard HTML form with drop downs etc and submit b) Hidden divs c) Submission process locally to javascript function to determine which product to show/hide d) Javascript function that makes the decision e) Javascript that hides/shows products Unfortunately a server side option is not available; it has to be a client side solution and I only could think of javascript.
